The First Amendment Was Written for Rodeo Clowns

This rodeo clown incident may become a political tipping point. The racialists might have gone to the race well one too many times. It seems that everything is being turned into a racial incident because liberal ideology is beginning to fracture. Liberals need a diversion.

Oprah Winfrey's claim that she was discriminated against while shopping for a hand bag in a Switzerland store might be contributing to people being fed up with the claim that every slight, criticism, and jab is motivated by race. The store employee and owner discounted Winfrey’s charges.

It hasn’t helped the cause of race relations in the United States that Oprah is saying that “Trayvon is the Emmett Till of our era.” How a man defending himself against repeated blows to his head can be compared to brutalizing a defenseless 14-year-old boy who had been kidnapped from his uncle’s house and then beaten, shot, and was later thrown in the Tallahatchie River where his body was discovered and retrieved from the river three days later.

For Oprah and many other blacks, just being non-black makes a person a racist.

The Missouri fair rodeo clown wore an Obama mask. He didn't come out in blackface. The clown wore a mask that was similar to the one that Obama had worn on Saturday Night Live.Obama Mask

He came out as Obama and made fun of him like every president since George Washington has been mocked, ridiculed, and denigrated for their political views.

George W. Bush was depicted as a monkey and Adolf Hitler. I don't recall him ever making an issue of it.

Rush Limbaugh is right. Obama’s race has given him political cover for nearly five years.

So what’s worse? Putting on an Obama mask and ridiculing the president or calling him, as Oliver Stone just did, a “snake” that “we have to turn on”? Reminds of the Gadsden Flag that pictures a coiled snake ready to strike that reads, "Don't Tread on Me." Will Stone be banned for life? There’s no political capital in going after liberals.

The First Amendment was drafted to protect all kinds of speech, especially political speech. There was a time when the freedom to criticize those who held political office was universally denied to the citizenry. To speak ill of the king often meant imprisonment or worse.

The right of the citizenry to differ with rulers did not stop everyone from finding ingenious ways to vent anger and frustration over impossible edicts and capricious political maneuverings. One clever way to expose the shenanigans of the crown was to compose biting parodies that ridiculed the policies of the king and his court.

During the reign of Richard III, the English landowner, administrator, and poet William Colinglbourne (c. 1435–1484) wrote the following anonymous lines:

The Cat, the Rat, and Lovell our Dog,Hog Lovell

Do rule all England, under a Hog.

The “Cat” was the crafty lawyer Sir William Catesby who, through the help of the crown, lined  his pockets through graft. The “Rat” described Sir Richard Ratcliffe who exhibited the traits of the offensive rodent “to gnawe on whom he should.” Lord Lovell’s crest was a dog, and King Richard’s emblem was a wild boar, a hog. Collingbourne’s meaning had been a bit too transparent. The poet was executed on Tower Hill in 1484.

We don’t execute political offenders today. We exile them, destroy their careers, and turn them into examples of what happens to people who attack the latest political god.

Throughout the ages we have had "clowns" or as in the roman empire a person to whisper in our ear "you are but mortal' to bring us down to earth. And hopefully realize that in the end GOD is the only important thing. Or as a joke I tell to my Calvinistic friends about Luther and John Calvin in Heaven and Luther was a big earthy man and Calvin was a smaller man. Luther tells Calvin to loosen up and lets go have a beer. Clowns are much the same way. And if a person can not take a joke more people might wonder what really is going on underneath. Something that we already know.

Liberals have no sense of humor. They take themselves too seriously and actually believe they make a difference in the grand scheme of things. You already know all this. Always good to read your comments.

Thanks. if they can not take a f k then joke them. Of course we both realize what I just said but, a liberal would say "its backwards" They simply dont get it.

"The First Amendment Was Written for Rodeo Clowns"
Not according to the "presidential clown"....

I suspect that inherent in the philosophy of what a clown are several things as expressions of free speech.
An irreverant attitude and ability to poke fun at public figures is among the tasks of a clown. That all clowns attend sensitivity training is absurd. what they really should be saying is you do not have free speech and how dare you ridicule our ordained gods.

i know we stand in shock and disgust when we hear about a cartoonist being placed under death threat for drawing a picture of allah. Are we so different.

If i were the rodeo association i would cancel rodeos in that state. If i were the clown i would sue the state for violation of free speech.

Too bad the "Stone-faced" Clown in DC can't take a little jab.........
The LIBS all seemed to have fun when the Reagan & Nixon masks poked fun on Sat Nite Live ,,,,,,, even when JFK masks were used..
Guess the Muslims in DC now, don't have a sense of Humor??

In the end I sincerely hope this issue gets shoved right up O'Bozo's 'Foul Weather Pipe'!

Leftists hat the Constitution, and want to destroy it.

Fortunately, they have NO idea that destroying it means they are affected by the new "rules" as well, and as such, will suffer for free speech.

The time has come to fervently and repeatedly post "THE PICTURES" of Obama surrounded by his followers (rats and flies) on EVERY article regarding the POTUS from this day forward. Never give up, Never give in.

  • zanne stevens

    Emmett was an innocent teen...
Trayvon was a punk and a thug...
Zimmerman was an innocent man trying to protect his life...
    Oprah is a racist idiot...

This case should never have gone to trial, never should have seen the light of day - Obama came out to defend it, just like the Professor arrested out of Cambridge MA, claiming race was the motive. Before Obama race was beginning to fade, but now it is alive and well thanks these race baiters in high power.

The issue with the clown is just another indicator of how our rights are fading away!

Here is a perfect example of a Liberal point of view, The First Amendment only pertains to those who offend Conservatives. But when Conservatives offend Liberals, they cry foul! Ever notice when an offensive person speaks at a University or College, they have the right to speak. But when a conservative speaks at the same University or College, the Staff and Students won't let them speak by being disruptive.

All clowns should be required to wear obummer masks, and make fun of him at all rodeos. It would be good medicine for the American citizens. If someone is offended, that is their problem, Grow a thicker skin. The constitution does not guarantee that you will not be offended during your lifetime, and you will be on numerous occasions. Tough, bite the bullet, and get over it.

  • 57girl

I thought a rodeo clown wading around in BS was a rather appropriate rendition of Obama ... very life like, if you ask me. LOL.

The clown was imitating obummer just like obummer is imitating being president of the United States.

  • archipapi

A clown wearing the mask of a living clown.......nothing wrong there!

  • Screeminmeeme

This is much ado about nothing. I'm more concerned about elected officials who say such things than I am about comedians and rodeo clowns. The venal and poisonous rhetoric directed toward Bush was shameful yet nothing was said about it.

Once again, the hypocrisy of the left is being spotlighted.

8/18/13 My comments were posted yesterday , but were missing this morning. ??

Liberals made fun of GW for eight years and got away with it. Since their God and fraud in Chief was frauded into office..the pantie wasted libs can't take any criticism of their Kenyan or whatever country he really is from. Keep giving the communist organizations such as the NAACP and Congressional Black Puckus the middle finger. So what if they call us racists. They consider all white people racists. Here is my middle finger to you Puckus Clowns.

  • $39132868

How does every-one like Communist rule, under a petty, ego-centric, thin-skinned African would be tyrant? How's "diversity" working out?

  • Katy

Is the State Fair run by the government? I honestly don't know the answer to that...

If it IS, then the firing of the clown was state action with 1st Amendment implications. Otherwise, there are no 1st Amendment implications at all.

Too many blacks have become WAAAYYY too sensitive any more.

I saw the whole O'Reilly-Burton interview and saw nothing wrong with it. I don't know where Burton got the "I know when I'm being catered too!" feeling unless he's skin is too thin.

If I wanted to whine I could call the security at a local Asian market racist. I've been in that store dozens of times and never been followed like I was the other day. Right up to the point where the security guy saw I was with my Chinese wife, her Chinese daughter, and her Chinese children. I was the only white face in the store, I'm 73 years old, thin of hair, and over-weight, no tats and no piercings. Obviously not a gangbanger.

But then, my ego allows me to accept that as the guy doing his job, even if he wasn't doing it that well.
