Obama Holds America Hostage but Blames GOP

Why is everyone blaming Republicans for holding the nation hostage over the funding of Obamacare?  Even a number of leading Republicans are pointing fingers at other Republicans like Sen. Ted Cruz for threatening to cause a government shutdown over the funding of Obamacare.

But who is really at fault for the possible government shutdown?

Cruz and other Republicans have been asking the Democrats and President Obama to compromise on the spending bill by agreeing to defund Obamacare or to delay the insurance mandate for another year.  Yet it is the Democrats and Obama that are refusing to compromise.

On yesterday’s CBS This Morning, they showed President Obama saying:

“Some have threatened the government shutdown if they can’t shut down this law.  Others have actually threatened an economic shutdown by refusing to pay America’s bills if they can’t delay the law.  That’s not gonna happen as long as I’m president!”

Perhaps some of the harshest words have come from Dan Pfeiffer, a White House Senior Adviser.  He described Republicans as being no different than arsonists, hostage-takers and bombers.  He then went on to say:

"What we're not for is negotiating with people with a bomb strapped to their chest.  We're not going to do that."

Even Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) was also shown on yesterday’s CBS This Morning criticizing fellow Republicans for using the funding of Obamacare to force a possible shutdown of the federal government.  Over the past year, McCain has become like New Jersey Governor Chris Christie in that he seems to be more of a Democrat than a Republican.

Please tell me how Republicans are the bad guys in all of this when they are willing to compromise on some issues in order to get others passed, but Obama and Democrats are not willing to compromise on any of the issues in question?  Listen to Obama’s own words.  He is not willing to compromise whatsoever when Republicans are.  So who is the real hostage-taker?  Who is using extortion tactics to force their way on the American people?

It should be obvious to everyone that Obama is the one guilty of holding the American people hostage and will allow the shutdown of the federal government unless he gets his way.  But what concerns me more is that some Republicans are siding with him and buying into his lies and deception and blame shifting.  No wonder Republicans have been struggling in the past few elections.

The founders knew what they were doing. People like
buckwheat (Negros) were considered ½ of what the value of a white person was
considered to be, colored people were slaves

The founders founded the US for White Christians,

That is the only way it will work.

    • Ted Crawford

Racist comments are inaccurate, disgusting and counterproductive, which makes me believe you are a progressive plant!

      • tryingtopickaname

Agreed...progressives do employ this tactic rather frequently.

      • 5live5

Ted, 100% in agreement here!! Not to mention solid(?)spine is obviously showing his single digit IQ!

  • patriotusa2

He's too enamored of himself to believe that he's capable of anything but perfection - even in the face of all his failures. Obamacare is one of those failures. An experiment in stupidity that he and his cronies don't have to partake in, including Christie and McCain who should seriously consider switching parties.

    • Ted Crawford

Chris Christie is a Liberal with latent Progressive tendencies and, I believe, the actions of both John Roberts and John McCain are examples of just how effective and valuable, for Obama, these NSA Probes and IRS Intimidations really are.

    • GramE

I had to laugh a little hearing BO refer to Obamacare rather than the ACA.
Keep my healthcare? The company I spent 25 years working for promised retirees help in healthcare insurance - which they have done - now we've been dropped. I've NO idea what my Medicare supplement will cost.

      • patriotusa2

I hate to hear this, GrameE, as I'm tired of we little people getting the shaft while these fat cats live high on the hog with their Cadillac insurance policies. He probably loves hearing his name! He's lied right from the very beginning when he told us all we could keep our own doctor! Just another one of his fabrications. This president has no conscience!

  • CARLjr

The GOP's debt-ceiling package is by no means a compromise. Defunding Obamacare is getting all the press, but it also included a slew of conservative goodies like building the Keystone XL pipeline, repealing Dodd-Frank, gutting EPA rules, means testing medicare, medical liability reform, restrictions on federal regulations, and of course, tax cuts. I'm surprised it did not include asking Obama to impeach himself. I am not seeing any "compromise" in this bill at all. What exactly is the compromise you are talking about?

It's comically transparent that this bill is demanding an insane string of concessions is a strategy to cause a shutdown. Just to make sure it won't go through, they had their own guy delay the vote on it. "Ted" Cruz spent hours in a mock filibuster of his own party's proposal to delay the vote, After his delay tactic, the senate voted 100-0 to move ahead. Yes, that means Cruz himself also voted to begin the debate. What was the purpose of his rant again?

Not only do Tea Party Republicans want a government shutdown, but to cause the government to default on it's obligations. This will cost us hundreds of billions of dollars, imperil the credit of the United States and cost hundreds of thousands of jobs. Their goal is to break the government, cripple the economy, and blame it on Obama. But, as the first sentence of this article agrees, no one is buying it. Even Republicans.

    • gvette

Well Carl. If the government gets shut down...you still get your welfare check. In past years, this has happened before. LOL..the world doesn't end. Get a grip. you sond like a true demonrat...opps democrat.

      • OzzWorx

        That was not a misspelling.

      • CARLjr

well, gvette if the government shuts down....you won't get your social security check, and no Medicare payments . Let's see how everyone likes no government healthcare.

        • gvette

That's where you are wrong. you believe the bullshit. you're a good sheep.

    • Ted Crawford

Every issues you decry above, from the defunding of PPACA thru reining in the egregious behavior of the EPA and addressing the unfunded liabilities of Medicare and Social Security (both of which I am on, so I understand that all of us will need to bleed a little), are sound fiscal responses to the current situation. Everyone of these issues MUST be adaquately addressed if America is to ever recover!

      • CARLjr

Those issues are fine issues to debate. In fact they have been debating them for years. Now it's "Pass them or we shut down the government and destroy the economy" and not a debate.

        • OzzWorx

Your "...and destroy the economy..." quote is a deliberate lie. It would actually aid the economy in the long run, but in order to indict conservatives you must lie. Lying accusation accompanied by partial truth is what Satan has done. Now he has educated you to be a liar. Your argument loses all validity. Beyond that it impeaches your character.

        • CARLjr

I guess we will get a chance to see how it affects the economy. No one can see the future. If you don't agree with my prediction, that does not mean I'm lying. It only means you disagree with what the results will be.
Repeatedly calling me a liar is what Satan would do.

        • OzzWorx

          Boy are you dense!

        • CARLjr

If the shutdown happens, we will need to decide if its going to be Hillary or Biden next.

        • Ted Crawford

As you so accurately pointed out; "They have been debating them for years" , it's now time for them to 'Put-up or Shut-Up" our economy can no longer survive their disingenuous idiotic "debate" actually it's cowardly, irresponsible babble rather than a real debate.
Obama picked this issue, all that he needed to do was accept a delay, like the Myriad of delays he, himself has ordered, unConstitutionally I might add, to a disgusting piece of Legislation that is hampering our recovery and threatens to ultimate collapse our Economy. A Leviathon that, as we speak, is coming apart at it's seams like a cheap suit! If Not Now, WHEN ? Do it now!

    • tryingtopickaname

Cruz voted for the debate. Why are you confusing the issue, seemingly willfully and disingenuously? The whole article flew right over your head, as evidenced by your admirably predictable straining to blame the GOP for the Dems' and 0's intransigence. How do you credibly extrapolate from the Tea Party's ( and much of America's, at this point, as a comfortable majority realize that Obamacare is little more that a poorly organized and executed Ponzi scheme) rejection of Obamacare, that they are avidly looking to shut down the government? Explain precisely how you arrived at that claim, if you please. You did nothing but recite by rote the comically tired bumper sticker wisdom of the left, validating the point of the article...you are exonerating---for no reason---0 and the Dems from negotiating and compromising. Ridiculous.

      • CARLjr

This article did not fly over my head so much as it was discounted as pure spin.
What was the point of the 21 hour talk by Cruz? What was he trying to accomplish by this?
I think I explained that it is not just the healthcare act, but a dozen or so hot-button issues. It's transparent that this bill is demanding concessions as a strategy to cause a shutdown. These are issues that were being debated during the election. They are not issues that are going to be decided by Tuesday - or else.

    • patsch13

This doesn't happen along party lines. It's typical Washington bait and switch.

So what's wrong with the Keystone pipeline funding? Maybe that we could reduce imported oil and the defacto subsidizing of regimes that use oil profits to support anti-Americanism?

Dodd-Frank has raised fees (at little-to-no-cost to banks) that increase costs to their customers. Something wrong with rolling back over-regulation Carljr?

Finally, are you paying attention to how the President picks and chooses the laws to which he adheres versus those that are mere inconveniences? What about the waivers to large corporations--but not individuals. And the deal he agreed to where Congress gets their healthcare subsidized by... wait for it---the taxpayers!!!

Have you considered the POTUS' hypocrisy, arrogance, and accusations of Republicans' inflexible positions while he has not reached out to Republican leadership to listen to alternatives. He is a Frank Marshall Davis and Saul Alinsky disciple through and through. The US has never seen a more socialist elected official. He used the IRS to quiet speech and funding for opponents, and lapdog media "just want to be a part" of his reign. Despicable!

      • CARLjr

My opinions of the pipeline, Dodd Frank, and EPA regulations aside, why must these issues be pushed through in this bill or shutdown? Can't we pass the budget THEN decide on the pipeline without the gun to our head? You would rather default on our obligations and not pay thousands of government employees (and our troops) than debate contested issues?

        • patsch13

Mostly because any separate legislation proposed would be buried by Harry Reid. This is again along party lines, and the Dems have no intent on EVER getting us closer to energy independence--even when we have plenty of energy resources to sustain ourselves, and create jobs and revenue from selling to other countries.

    • 5live5

Ohbummer is the one holding this country hostage. Over 60% of the populace DO NOT want Ohbummercare, yet he maintains a solid grip around our throats. In some cities, the cost of premiums under it will QUADRUPLE! The Mayo clinic, one of the top research hospitals in the US has stopped accepting Medicare patients as the payments don't pay the treatment let alone the overhead costs and in his WISDOM(?) he cuts a billion dollars from Medicare to fund his pet project??? And you have the audacity to say that the GOP is holding the country HOSTAGE???? Grow up little boy!!

      • CARLjr

Romney ran and said he would stop the Healthcare act. He lost, by a considerable margin.

If the majority does not want it, they did not show it at the voting booth.

  • dleeper47

Keep in mind that when folks say: "Let Obamacare run its course. The country will blame Democrats and throw them out of office", they're wrong. The Democrats will blame the GOP for Obamacare's failure ... not enough money spent on "fixes", too much "negativity", too many Republican doctors and insurance companies, bad "karma", and anything else they can come up with. The Democrat-servile media will help them.

Then we'll lose elections anyway, and we'll be stuck with another gargantuan entitlement program.

The House has the authority and the majority it needs to fund the federal govt *retail*, one dept or agency per funding bill. Boehner should use it or lose it.

"Constitution of the United States, "Article. I, Section 7: All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with amendments as on other Bills...."

In this case, the Reid Senate Dictatorship didn't just "amend" the House Bill, it effectively castrated it.

But I wonder -- why did the Framing Fathers use the word "may propose .." instead of "shall" (be empowered to) "propose or concur with amendments'?

Regarding possible action by the Senate, did the use of "may" instead of "shall" imply an option that allows the House to completely reject any Senate amendment to the raising of revenue (a/k/a taxation)?

The word "may" is only suggestive, the word "shall" stipulates a defined requirement. But the Constitution uses the word "may", not "shall" in limiting the Senate's power to tax through amendment of a House bill...

    • Emslykarl

The Constitution is largely irrelevant to this Administration ; it is regarded as an impediment and not a standard ! Liberals hate both the Constitution and the bible , because both demand constraints and accountability - anthema to so-called " progressives " ; a contradiction in terms if there ever was one .

  • MikeyParks

If Obamacare is a tax, as the SCOTUS said, then it originated unconstitutionally in the Senate and is therefore null and void.

    • TheUncleMike

Actually that is not what the SCOTUS said. Roberts stated that the authority came from Congress' taxing authority. But it is a penalty because one has a choice...

      • MikeyParks

Isn't that playing with words? It's been deemed a tax.

        • chamuiel

And, as you said the senate cannot propose a tax. only the house can do that.

  • Dink65

If anyone believes the crap out of this commie dictator usurper's lying mouth, then they should be locked up in a cage! There's no excuse to "shut down the government!" This is another lie this from this idiot. The vast majority of the people DON'T want this Odumbo care! Don't blame the GOP and start putting the blame where it belongs...with you commie in chief Odumbo!

    • TheUncleMike

First, Obama is no commie. Second, the American people do not want the govt shut down even with funding of the ACA. Facts are facts, learn them. I would also point out that according to the Kaiser Family Foundation, 44% of Americans do not know much of the ACA..

      • Dink65

First of all, Obama is a COMMUNIST! You're obviously a drone leftist. Americans do want the government to shut down! You need to know that this is a ploy for Obama to blame the GOP, because the baby can't get his way. The truth is, that even if the government shuts down, nothing will change and those are the facts! You need to wise up!

        • John OMalia

TO Uncle Mike---No one says the government will be shut down except you and the democrats. The House has passed a bill that will fund the government w/o the ACA. The senate refuses to go along with that. The house is coming back with a CR to fully fund the government through the end of the year w/o funding the ACA. Remember the POS said the ACA would not cost us one thin dime.

        • 5live5

"won't cost us a dime". Just don't sign up and see how much it costs you!! Remember, the people that brought us seizing bank accounts, attaching property, and JAIL TIME for not paying taxes, the IRS will be in charge of it!!

  • TheUncleMike

So why should there be a compromise on a law that was passed 4 years ago? Hate to burst people's bubble, but a govt shutdown does not stop the ACA. The facts are that the repubs will be blamed, rightfully so. Let's understand reality. The republicans complained when the Senate didn't pass a budget. They did, and the repubs refused to meet in conference to negotiate with repub House over budget! So why no Budget - the republicans didn't want one! And how many appropriations bills have been passed by the House? 4 out if 12, but they can find the time to vote to defund the ACA 42 times!!! Why blame the republicans? Because it's their fault.. Voting on a clean CR keeps the govt open. That simple... and that's what the vast majority of Americans want..

    • Brian L.

You might want to get your facts straight. The House has passed a budget the last 5 years running, but Harry Reid, a DEMOCRAT, will not allow the bill to be read on the floor of the Senate. It is the DEMOCRATS that are the sticking point for funding the government. They are the ones that have caused us to have to use a Continuing Resolution for the last 5 years. They do not want a budget. They want to continue to raise spending via the CR and not be responsible for it.

      • Patriot 10

Amen Brian. The low information voter listens to the lame stream media that blames the Republicans but it is the Democratic senate that is refusing to follow the constitution and pass a budget.
It will be hell up there until we get back to constitutional government.

      • BGills

Brian, John truly believes he has the facts straight, and in his mind it is Republicans that are to blame for everything. It's simply what he's being told by his Socialist masters.
After all, his only source for information is the main stream media, which is clearly the propaganda arm of this administration.
When it's all over, they will simply claim, " We were lied to! " much like so many Germans did when confronted with the brutal reality of the Nazi extermination camps.
To this very day there are those who refuse to believe something that horrific could ever happen...
They refuse to see the truth, even when it lay before their very eyes.

        • Brian L.

True, but if you remember, "I was just following orders," was NOT allowed as an excuse at Nuremberg.

    • John OMalia

The vast majority don't want the ACA. The ACA as it now stands is patently illegal. The SC ruled it was legal since it was a tax. The SC has yet to rule on other issues. The POS illegally went around congress and changed 7 provisions in the law. He can not legally do that. Congress must pass any changes. And when Congress asks for a delay in the individual mandate, which they can do, why that gets no consideration by the delayer in chief. The constitution provides that the house decides what to spend, they have the purse strings but the senate and the POS has decided that there will be no compromise. You have things totally backward and only the ill informed will buy into your crap.

    • 5live5

Well it happened by threats and pay-offs, and the people that were paid are afraid to do anything about him. That explains why we have not been able to hold him accountable for anything and why he's so arrogant about being able to do what he pleases. obama is in the position he is to destroy America from within. He lives lavishly off the backs of taxpayers and gives away our money to other countries. obama is the worse excuse for a leader I have ever had the privilege of experiencing in my life. yes it may be true that there are a lot of uneducated voters in America, the numbers do not lie obama did not win the election. He couldn't of, math does not work that way. So what happened? , someone bought it for him and that someone is the same person still pulling his strings. The question who is this mystery man? Saudi king, prince? I don't know but listen to this man obama speak he's not intelligent enough to mastermind this plot by himself. So beware folks obama is a faux and the joke is on us the American people. What we are doing is similiar to letting the fox guard the hen-house. If we don't do something about him very soon there may be no more America to worry about. So when you get all caught up in the mess that we are in, with the scandals misc remember if we can only hold obama accountable for all of this its very unlikely that the same plot will be tried again, however if we do not than this kind of treachery and treasonous behavior will continue to happen.

  • Brian L.

The Democrats have been doing this for years with the help of the Liberal MSM.

  • duif100

The American press is complicit in putting the blame for a shutdown on the republicans. Without the complicity of the mainstream "press" the Demd could not pull that off!
The only conclusion is the the mainstream press empowers Obama and the Dems to do things they would not have dreamt of doing without the help from the mainstream press.
I consider the mainstream press to be a political organization.

  • Tradewinds

Failures always blame someone else for their own self-inflicted failings.. Only a person of positive character and high self-esteem will take responsibility for their own conduct.. Time to try to be a man Obama and take responsibility for for your failings and how you have destroyed the values that made us once a great nation.. Yet as a leader and as a man you have become a laughingstock on the world stage as your actions can not be measured by your empty words.. We now must wonder in fright what hath Obama wrought in his hatred and contempt for what was once the greatest country on Earth..

    Hobama Choom, hold this hostage!

  • Lawerence

It seems to me the Lying King is the one holding the Nation Hostage ; all aspects of the Government is Funded as would be Obamacare in 2015 !!! (time to get Corporate America and the Unions on board + no crony Waivers ) !!! Will the Arrogant Lying King Shut the Government Down ??? The Headlines should read "Obama Shuts Government Down in defiance of extending Obamacare one year for Repairs" What would the Vegas Odds be for that to Happen ???

    • 5live5

Lawerence, I agree. The constitution says the law Should be applied EQUALLY! Where is the equality in wavers for some? Either apply it to all, including unions, congress the president, ALL or TRASH IT!!!

  • DrBillLemoine

Don't keep up with recent developments? Boehner and Cruz have said they will shut down government to keep Obamacare from starting. So stupid--the ACA law is self-funding and won't be affected. So that means those two congressional officials and their tea party backers are terrorizing the nation for their ends--they want to do what al Qaida hasn't been able to do. Mortally wound the nation and by extension the rest of the world in economics. They've got to go ASAP--recalls, impeachments come sooner than 2014 elections. If October 1 fails, as it is bound to do with republicans caving, they get another terrorist shot at the debt ceiling soon. When is too much hostility enough for Democrats, moderates and even conservatives republicans? If 2 CO reps can be recalled for gun control positions that cost a few lives, it should be clear that many tea baggers can be removed from office for killing this nation.

    • rosemarienoa

You are showing your ignorance!!! Look up the term tea bagger & see what it means!!! It is disgusting & the disgusting people in this fight are oblamo & the lefty loonies like you!!! The ACA is NOT self funding....you will soon find out!!!

      • DrBillLemoine

Rosie, you must be ill informed. Subscriptions of enrollees pay for Obamacare, not taxes you Tea Baggers don't pay anyway. Look it up--ACA will save billions over the next 10 years. Individual states are reporting huge healthcare savings over private coverages of traditional insurers. I know this already, no guessing, no finding out soon.

    • Charles Codling

Wow, are you uninformed; you obviously have not dealt with the astronomical growth in health premium costs, Oh and IF you could read, you would note that they specifically did NOT shut down the government but passed a resolution to fund all of government EXCEPT ACA. It is the Senate and then Obama that insist we are denying care to someone or shutting down the government when in fact, it is they who refuse to approve a continuing resolution that does not fund ACA.

      • DrBillLemoine

Guess what? Obamacare is lowering healthcare costs in states already reporting data. Aren't you up to speed on developments? Wrong again, House legislation shuts down government if Obamacare is funded. Don't watch tv reports--many testimonies of needed coverages. Without government nothing will happen except takeover by armed thugs, terrorists, white supremacists, criminal elements that government stops now. Are you armed?

        • munkybiznus

          Armed????? only while I'm breathing

        • Charles Codling

Well it is NOT lowering but indeed raising the premiums for me and at least 5 others I know personally; the TV reports would be the last place I would go for reliable unbiased information. However, I have read numerous articles as well as witnessed by personal experience, the dramatic rise in premiums. If it truly lowered premiums, why would AFL-CIO and other unions want to be excluded from it's provisions? If such a good deal, why is the president, his staff and congress exempted from it? If so good for others, why are numerous large corporations exempted? Why are remaining employers cutting workers to part time and hiring fewer -- are you suggesting they ALL misunderstand what a great deal it is? As Ms. Pelosi said, the congress had to pass it to read it? What a joke? "Without government nothing will happen except..." -- what an absolute naive load of garbage!

        • DrBillLemoine

You must be in a poor red state; most blue state premiums are lowered substantially comparing same coverages. Tv reports come from state figures, genius, not made up like your party does. If people have no coverage and sign up, of course they pay more in premiums--get real. I don't think officials should be exempted, but we don't have universal healthcare yet, not politically feasible. Pay attention to developments--large corporations have been delayed for a year implementing. It's the economy cutting hours, has been for years. You seem to bite at the partisan spin instead of reasoning yourself after gathering information. Partisan slogans don't equal YOU thinking.

        • craig

there are no poor red states you are confused

        • DrBillLemoine

No red states? How is it that red states get far more in federal benefits/money than they pay in taxes? Get an education.

        • craig

        • DrBillLemoine

    • dad666

Like all liberals you have it wrong. the Public has made it abunduntly clear that they do not want this law. The Dumocraps are trying to ram it down our throats anyway because they want the additional control and tax revenue. they will also be taking over roughly 20% ot our economy with the ability to add or increase the overall costs with additional ammendments. This bill is a disaster and has been declared so by many financial institutions and experts but still they insist. The congress was hired and placed in power to do the will of the people and still they ignore our objections. Only the house and a few Senate members are listening. Keep it up nd there will be a large number of unemployed politicians come 2014 and "YOU CAN TAKE THAT TO THE BANK.

      • DrBillLemoine

Check the details, if you can read, listen and understand. Did you read my post anyway? The control freaks are 'my way or shut down the nation' republicans. FYI the 10% republicans control 60% of the nation's wealth--till now. Name any financially responsible source saying the economics are a disaster, your word. Congress DID pass Obamacare--it's the law. No repeal is possible without government control the right seeks with voter suppression and outright criminal activity. Yep, lots of extremists will bite the dust soon.

To whom much is given, much is required in a democracy or morally. Catholic bishops called right wing budgets immoral for a reason. Not you. General Eisenhower as president taxed 90% of the fat cat's wealth. What's different now? Actually it's the undereducated, non-thinking right wing extremists who are the sponges and want no taxation to make ends meet. Well, 36 years later, I moved back to the US, and moved in with my sister, who lets me sleep on her couch, sometimes. Apparently, the US Congress has learned a lesson from my example!

Don't kid your self. All you really have going on in America is Majority Rule. Political parties are a illusion. Freedom has Many Enemies.

    • Clint

If you think the Democrats won in 2012 without fraud and cheating at the polls you do not understand what took place. In Florida alone there were many voting districts that produced more votes than there are registered voters. If 100% of voters in a district vote how does one then count 120% voter turnout? A good example of this is in the district Col. Al West was running against a flaming liberal (socialist) Democrat. Col. Al West was not beaten, his voters were defrauded, pure and simple.

      • David Lakatos

The Majority got away with the voter fraud didn't they. No one did anything about it being illegal because the majority don't want it to be known just like how a lynch mob works.

        • Clint

Not really. The liberal minority got away with the fraud. It is smart to choose your battles if you can. You can go on fooling yourself, thinking that the majority won, but it ain't so.

      • PJD219

Same in PA....The Dems were saying that Romney had no votes in 13 different districts in PA....which was a bold face lie!!!! We also had more votes counted for the Dems than there are registered voters!!! We all know how Obama won and it certainly was not " a fair and square" landslide as the likes of Sharpton and Matthews (thrill up his leg) would like you to believe. The corruption in this administration is sickening!!!

      • BGills

The invading hoards, or as the Democrats like to call them, undocumented workers, very openly admitted to voting in our elections!
Someone has given them the impression that it's their civic-duty to vote, a right afforded them by their mere presence.
I wonder who could be perpetrating such a false misconception, on such a huge, unaccountable, potential voting block?

        • Clint

Yeah, I wonder (with tongue firmly planted in cheek) who could be responsible for that? It is obvious that the Democrats believe that the ends justify the means, even if those acts are criminal. I think they are now calling them undocumented voters. ;<)

Perhaps someday this nation will wake up, but I doubt it! I listen to the liberal guests on Hannity and other programs defending Barack Obama and making excuses for his idiocy, and for the liberal/ progressive/ communist/ Marxist ideology that is as satanic as it can be, and I can't help but think these people must have a genetic disorder that makes them so totally blind and out of touch with reality! [Actually, it is called "sin" but they vehemently deny that designation]. Then I realize that they are the reason this nation is in the trouble it is, and that the way God will deal with this nation is to simply let these people destroy it! Then, in His time, He will suddenly and quietly remove the good guys, [including Christians, i.e. Gentiles and Jewish believers, who have remained faithful in spite of the global war on Christianity] and let those left behind argue among themselves who is to blame for the increasing problems! Of course, God will provide a powerful world leader who is Islamic [who hates Jesus Christ, but who will mimic Him in every way possible], who will rule with an iron hand and will require these liberal/progressive/ communist/Marxists to take a mark so they can buy and sell. If they refuse, off with their heads! They will actually worship this guy who will demand that they do, and they will have the stern social and political order they wanted for so long! But after a few years, the entire world will feel very oppressed and they will rebel! This unrest will increase and will result in a war to end ll wars. It will be fought in the Middle East, of all places, near the Valley of Esdraelon at Mt. Megiddo. (in Hebrew: Har Megiddon). You know, "Armageddon"! Gee, someone ought to write a book about this! Hey! They did! It's called the Bible! You should read it!

  • Matforce

More disingenuousness from neocon medial outlets (toilets?) like this one to deceive the gullible hotheads...

This one ranks right up there with the big fib about "Obamacare Flatlines" right there on the GOP website:

The disingenuous lie about the 3.8 home sales tax on the "middle class" was posted right there on the GOP website for all to see. An article entitled, "Obamacare flatlines: Obamacare Taxes Home Sales- Clobbers Middle-Class Americans.

    http://www.gop.gov/blog/10/04/...

In truth, the 3.8% tax on home sales does not kick in until the PROFITS exceed the capital gains threshold.

If you listen to the GOP tell it, you'd think that the 3.8% was a type of "sales tax" on any and all real estate sales.

Not so! First of all, the 3.8% tax will ONLY apply to individuals whose income is over $200,000/yr. and couples with a joint income of over $250,000/yr. 95% of American individuals or couples don't earn that much.

Secondly, the tax would only apply to the PROFIT realized on a home-sale that exceed the capital gains threshold. The capital gains threshold is set at $500,000 for couples and $250,000 for individuals. That would mean that if a couple bought a home in 1985 for $200,000 and sold it in 2013 for $700,000, a $500,000 profit, the tax would not kick in. They would pay zero in tax on the transaction. But if they sold the house for $700,010, they would owe (brace yourself!) 38 cents.

How many MIDDLE CLASS families sell their homes for a PROFIT of over $500,000? This is another example of the disingenuousness of the right wing to win public debate. They refuse to let truth get in their way! Google: "The Integration of Theory and Practice: A Program for the New Traditionalist Movement" by Eric Heubeck to see the lengths they are willing go to use deception in their propaganda schemes; reminiscent of the Third Reich.

If parents taught their kids a "work ethic" instead of bringing them up "depending" on others ????? sounds correct to me

        • Matforce

Ok, I get it and I agree totally with your thrust. But I still have a bone to pick with your simplistic POV:

I have a small concrete/mason business that I work at on the side (trades I picked up working my way through high school and college).
I worked with some of the hardest working men you'll ever meet. They want nothing more than to have steady work; they've got the work ethic. But as the middle class dried up and production moved offshore, work is getting hard to find.
I was working, busting out concrete. Took the first pick-up full to an Asphalt Co. where they grind it up and use it for underlayment for asphalt. As I enter the facility a guy directs me to a pile of concrete- tells me to unload it there. I back up and start unloading not far from the track hoe and a huge hydraulic crushing machine that pulverizes the concrete and a conveyor that piles it for later use. The track hoe operator climbs down, walks over and says, "Hey! Not that pile! That pile over there! And points to a pile 20 yards away. I say, "You want me to load it back up and move it 20 yards?" He says, "Nah, I'm just shittin' ya!" and we both have a laugh.
Turns out this guy had a job with a large excavation outfit, was making, with steady overtime, a 6 digit income before 2008. He gets laid off during the Great Recession. Has a nice home (mortgage), and a couple of kids in college so he signs up for unemployment compensation he paid into all his life.
He has two brothers who work in management for local corporations. They ride his ass at family functions about signing up; the family's got the work ethic. He says, "Hire me! You know I'll work!" They say, "We're not hiring..." He says, "Then shut the hell up!"
They keep on with the slurs and insults until he finally takes this job with the asphalt outfit, takes a $200/week cut compared to what he was making on unemployment. then the housing market tanked, his home is underwater, he can't make his payments, his college kids are racking up college bills nobody has the money for, and his marriage is hitting the rocks.
I told him, tongue in cheek, to just go throw himself on his sword, liquidate his assets and crawl under a bridge so he doesn't become a "burden" on the fat cats in the financial sector on Wall Street, and those offshoring corporations who've gutted the USA for a larger profit margin, and crawl off and die quietly. He knew exactly what I was talking about and we both had another rueful chuckle... to keep from spitting!

Being uninsured before - did not mean denial of health TREATMENT. Before Obamacare we were told it needs to pass so that 11 to 30 Million Americans who are uninsured have access to health insurance. New estimates AFTER Obamacare has passed, show that at least an ADDITIONAL 1,000,000 Americans (31 Million) will now be without health insurance. It has gotten WORSE and people's incomes have gone DOWN. More uninsured, higher premiums, fewer doctors, less health care, more politicians: Obamacare.

        • Matforce

Comprehensive Health Care at 2.5% of your gross adjusted income is one hell of a deal. The mandate that our young invincibles must pay in if they don't have insurance is a rub, but will they stay young forever???
ACA went to great lengths to include our Insurance Industry in the mix when it could have gone the way of single-payer which would have cut the bastards out and saved the multimillion dollar CEO, executive teams'. board of directors, Wall Street hedge fund fees (2% in and 20% out on the Wall Street casino), and then hired the ground troops of the insurance industry to run the exchanges and other organizational tasks, but they didn't do that did they? Plus, the Insurance lobby has threatened to turn their back on the $BILLIONS of mandate money that will be available to the insurance industry, and are threatening to boycott the whole ACA works. Let those 30 million uninsured fall on their sword and die for all they care! The blood-curdling cries emanating from the Insurance Industry is in direct response to the stipulation in the bill that 80% of the ACA money used by the Exchanges be used for (ready for this?) Health Care expense (the audacity!) not Industry CEOs salaries and bonuses, etc.

        • F-14 Navy Vet

Why are 31 million Americans now expected to be uninsured now that Obamacare is kicking in? The premise to enact it was that 11-30 million had no health insurance. MORE people will be without now... That's illogical. OBamacare was also supposed to save us money - making health care premiums more affordable. We were promised the average family policy would GO DOWN $2,500 per family per year. (Obama promised that many times over) Now the facts are, that the prices are skyrocketing. Rather than being reduced by $2500 per year - they have been INCREASED $3,600 per year. That's a difference of 244% higher than what Obama promised if his legislation passed. Even the Democrat author of the ACA says he now opposes it as it will BANKRUPT the United States.

        • BGills

Projections for the cost of the Affordable Healthcare Act at it's passage, were that it was clearly unsustainable.
When passed it was nearly 2,000 pages of cryptic bureaucracy, but now it has grown to nearly 20,000 pages, and would require a full-time team of attorneys just to understand the basics, and the projected cost has tripled.
Democrats, much like a car salesman, refuse to take "No!" for an answer. No matter how you slice it, we just can't afford their shiny new car.
It's just not within our budget.
Oh yea, budgets are kind of a foreign concept to them...

This was to reduce and, if possible, eliminate through infanticide minority and physically or mentally handicapped babies.

      "How many MIDDLE CLASS families
sell their homes for a PROFIT of over $500,000?"

It appears that you have no clue as to real estate prices in many parts of the
country. If you don't live in fly-over-land it's actually not that unusual.

My mother-in-law purchased her current home brand new for $18,000 (it's only a 3 bedroom tract home built in the 50's). The current value of the home is around $1,300,000 now. My parents built their current home in 1974 for $80,000 and it's now worth $2 mil. Both examples are people who have been average middle class families.

Now let’s run with your numbers that show her owing that 3.8% on $1,032,000 ($1,300,000 - $18,000 = $1,282,000 cost basis - $250,000), equaling $40,248. I guess she would be considered a 1%'r that year and will pay max rates. State tax will run $49,430 for the first $508,000 and then 12.3% after that. Let’s just use another $60,000 for the overage. Then add in federal taxes less the one-time $250,000 deduction. So
capital gains tax (20% for her tax bracket) on $250,000 and straight tax (39.6%
on the rest) adds another $50,000 and $316,800. County transfer taxes (1.1%) add another $14,300, etc. A grand total somewhere in the neighborhood of $531,000 in taxes.

And then there are the other expenses such as a 6% sales commission ($78,000),
which at least someone (or maybe two) provided a direct service before they could have it.

So that $1.3 million house nets her around $691,000. So for one brief day she is a
millionaire before the government takes nearly half of something that took 60
years to earn. Only a socialist/communist can try to justify that level of confiscation of property/assets to redistribute to others in order to be "fair." Didn't your parents teach you growing up that life isn't always fair? It certainly wasn't something our founding fathers would approve of. Wasn't that whole revolution thingy about the exorbitant taxation imposed on them?

Anyway, people struggle here just to stay in their homes and don’t need the government mandating additional monthly expenditures. ALL insurance is a risk/reward gamble. You are betting that you will receive a larger benefit than you pay into the system, to protect your assets from being wiped out, or to limit a loss to something you are comfortable with. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. It should be up to the individual to decide if THEY need insurance or not. If health insurance should be mandatory in order to lower the cost to the government (because in reality no one is currently denied needed care), then shouldn’t FEMA be reduced, or dissolved, and everyone be required to carry their own homeowners or renters insurance (even if they can’t afford it) so that the taxpayers do not have to pick up the inevitable cost each year that we currently do for the damage and loss after hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, etc.?

      • craig

        great comment

      • Matforce

The average home, not the bottom, or the top, in the 1950s went for between $3,000 and $5,000. Tract homes were built in the early suburbs where their lack of individuality in design (cookie cutter) made them attractive as a starter home for people looking for less expensive housing.

Your story and scenario is dubious. But lets say it is true. A $700,000 return on an investment like the one you depict would be akin to winning the lottery, especially assuming it was paid off decades ago (housing is probably the largest expense a middle class citizen has, and it often encompasses around 90% of their assets).

30 years ago there were maybe 13-14 BILLIONAIRES; now there are over 400. A BILLION sitting on the stock market, collecting a meager 3% is $30,000,000 earnings for just sitting there! THIRTY MILLION; get it?

The United States of America is the wealthiest, most sophisticated, most developed, technical, militarily powerful, influential nation on the planet, and most of the middle class people I know, don't mind pitching in to keep this Utopian society solvent... except the wealthy. They have benefitted from policies that have consolidated wealth at the top like we haven't seen in 100 years, yet any suggestion that they place their shoulder to the wheel and chip in to save America the Beautiful, once the land of opportunity for all, is met with shrill cries of "class warfare!" from the usual suspects to hoodwink the gullible.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPKKQnijnsM

        http://www2.ucsc.edu/whorulesamerica/power/wealth.html

        • Greg80

Again, it appears that you don't understand real estate prices in expensive states. California is just one of those states. This is not rocket science. These are not 1%'rs.

The first part of my example was based on Cupertino, CA. A perfect example of middle class America in the Bay Area (median income $120,000). Good schools, working families, and actually a high percentage of immigrants from China (63%) and India who plow everything they have into affording those homes. Whites make up only 31% these days. (http://www.bayareacensus.ca.gov/cities/Cupertino.htm)

Median prices range from around $750,000 for a 2 bedroom, $1,181,000 for a 3 bedroom, and $1,582,500 for a 4 bedroom house. These are not my numbers are can be seen at Trulia (http://www.trulia.com/real_estate/Cupertino-California/market-trends/).

I again say it is wrong to confiscate half of the value of your house upon its sale. I suppose you could just get one of the crazy reverse mortgages and just let the finance company have it after you die instead of the government and you can live off of the loan instead of your proceeds from the sale of it and moving to something more appropriate. And Heaven forbid if you can pass a little down to your children and grandchildren, or maybe pay for their college or something. No it's better for the grandkids or their parent to just go into debt for a college degree that only seems to gets you a $10 an hour job these days. And then it's less than 30 hours a week due to "affordable" health care. Wasn't it the union bosses that finally admitted that Obama care was the end of the 40 hour week and that they were hoodwinked into supporting it with all the "you can keep your current plan" and it will cost you less hype? Why are all the insurance companies dropping plans and raising prices on the ones remaining?

Sure, most people don't mind "pitching in" if they feel that the government is not wasting all the money and they get a reasonable benefit back. But confiscating half of what they have is much more than pitching in, especially when 47% don't pitch in at all. Don't you think that they should have to at least pitch in something? If you have no buy in you don't care how much things costs.

Maybe we should change our voting rules to only allow people that actually pay taxes to vote. It sure isn't "fair" to let a large percentage vote for people who want to raise taxes when they know they aren't going to have to pay any of it.

That's one of the problems with "free" health care. If you don't have to pay anything you will find people that go to the doctor for a cold when everyone knows they can't do anything to "treat" it. A coworker recently told me about his last visit to the doctor in which a woman was making a scene at the reception desk because the doctor would not write her a prescription for cough syrup so she could get it free instead of having to buy it at the store like most people do.

It's just crazy that they have inserted taxes for Obama care all over place. What's next, adding a tax or fee to your doctor visit to fund highways because safer roads may reduce doctor visits due to less accidents? Or maybe a tax on alcohol to help pay for medical care due to the injuries caused by drinking and driving?

This all goes back to why am I FORCED to pay for insurance that I may or may not want? The constitution does not guarantee a "right" to health insurance. If our fearless leaders wish to provide insurance to those who can't afford it, good for them. But don't force me to buy something if I don't want it. Don't dictate to me the type of policy that is to be provided. Let me choose how I want to cover myself.

Our State insurance exchange shows that a low end plan will run our family about $12,000 a year. I should have the "right" to self-insure and put that in a medical savings account to use for visits, drugs, etc. We never even get anywhere near that amount of services back in a year. If we could put it away in a saving account that converts to a 401k upon retirement we would have plenty of money to retire on. Instead, this is just another attempt at redistribution of from the middle class to the lower class so they can have something else for "free" since they are going to have to pay anything for their insurance.

        • Matforce

These tired arguments about the "takers!" I know them, you know them, they exist. But it has been refuted many, many times; but there it is again. Come on; let's be truthful. Many of the 47% are retired on their pensions & Social Security, in college and working part time and the rest don't make enough to show up on the radar of taxable income.... IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!

Excerpt from one of many fact checks into the 47% claim:
Gretchen Carlson, the Fox News host, said last year “47 percent of Americans don’t pay any taxes.” John McCain and Sarah Palin both said similar things during the 2008 campaign about the bottom half of Americans.

Ari Fleischer, the former Bush White House spokesman, once said “50 percent of the country gets benefits without paying for them.”

Actually, they pay lots of taxes—just not lots of federal income taxes.

Data from the Tax Foundation show that in 2008, the average income for the bottom half of taxpayers was $15,300.

This year the first $9,350 of income is exempt from taxes for singles and $18,700 for married couples, just slightly more than in 2008. That means millions of the poor do not make enough to owe income taxes.

But they still pay plenty of other taxes, including federal payroll taxes. Between gas taxes, sales taxes, utility taxes and other taxes, no one lives tax-free in America.

When it comes to state and local taxes, the poor bear a heavier burden than the rich in every state except Vermont, the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy calculated from official data. In Alabama, for example, the burden on the poor is more than twice that of the top 1 percent. The one-fifth of Alabama families making less than $13,000 pay almost 11 percent of their income in state and local taxes, compared with less than 4 percent for those who make $229,000 or more.

  • larrylunts

I don't think it was obvious to anyone except the useful idiots of the right wing. On the same day when Obama was able to announce real, meaningful progress on the diplomatic front on several intractable problems in the middle East; Obama also, rightfully, pointed out that Republican petulance on the ACA--which is a battle that has already been settled, and even adjudicated by the Supreme Court--threatens to destabilize the world economy, increase the national debt by causing us to pay higher interest rates on that debt, and possibly even throw the world into another Great Depression.

It's a shame, but sometimes when your child screams at the top of his lungs and throws a great tantrum in a public place, unless you buy him a bag of candy, the parent has to stand firm and let that child know that "NO" means "NO." Paying our debts is not, and should not, ever become an issue. To use the threat of a government shutdown, or default, is just reprehensible. Ronald Reagan said the same thing decades ago. The "Tea Party" Republicans in Congress are adults, so it might be seen as condescending for me to compare them to children, so I'll call them what they really are--domestic terrorists.

    • hughcapet

You really don't see the consequences of Obamacare, do you? Don't come crying to the "Tea Party" when your own world collapses before your very eyes. You are just incapable of seeing the other side of the coin. Go ahead and vote your straight demo ticket like all good American morons.

      • larrylunts

The "consequences of Obamacare," are that a couple of years after its implementation; initial legislative shortcomings are realized, and then corrected, and then fine-tuned; just like after the implementations of Social Security, and of Medicare.

It's sad that so many of the "Tea Party" generation are so ignorant of American history; that they believe the whole thing was just about muskets, and play-acting, and three-cornered hats, and Gadsden Flags. I would pity these pathetic people, if it weren't for the fact that their persistent, sponsored ignorance, presents such a clear and present danger to the security and continued survival of the United States.

Obamacare is socialized medicine. Socialized medicine has been proved by history not to work. We asked for healthcare reform not forced healthcare. BTW, it's Obama that is threatening shutdown, Obama that has multiple times stood up and asked that we demand that our reps bow down to his wishes or our parents and/or grandparents, as well as our military personnel's paychecks can not be guaranteed. Not once has he stood up and said that he may not get his check, not once has he said that congress may not get their checks. Amazing how the govt shutdown may cause checks not to be generated out to our military or elderly but not congress or his highness Obummer.

When you call your dumbass Tea Party Representatives tonight, based on the list that has already been emailed to you by 15 or 20 Koch Brothers-funded phony-baloney right-wing websites; please be sure to explain to your selected Congressional Representatives, that your first demand is that any government shutdown must also apply to his or her salaries!

    • chamuiel

Applying equally to everyone should also mean obama, his family, every Senator, representative, their families, every union member, their families, every Government worker, their families, and the list goes on.

    • Matforce

As you probably know, ACA is an attempt to have every USA citizen covered by some form of health care BEFORE they reach antiquity at the age of 65. If you have a health care policy through a private plan or through your work, good for you! You don't need to pay in! 30 million do not! This is a collective way for them to CYA in case they have an accident, serious illness, or need medical treatment so they don't lose all they own. GET IT?

If you're referring to those who serve in Congress, members of Congress have good health insurance by any standard, but it’s not free and not reserved only for them – and it’s not government insurance. House and Senate members are allowed to purchase private health insurance offered through the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, which covers more than 8 million other federal employees, retirees and their families

      • craig

      • BGills

Members of Congress have asked for, and will be receiving a subsidy to help them with the added financial burden caused by the implementation of the ACA.
These guys make approximately $175,000, just under the artificial threshold set which defines who is wealthy, and who is not, and they are acutely aware of how this law will be effecting them, and their families, financially.
It will cost more, not less.
So far, every group that has lent backing to the ACA, has now asked for some sort of special consideration to it's effects, because they anticipate the law to negatively impact them financially. They never believed the law they supported would apply to them, and that their support earns them these considerations. You know as pay back of sorts...
Many unions in this country make the bulk of their income from privately run health insurance companies, companies owned, and run by the unions. They too are acutely aware of how the ACA will negatively impact their finances, and have asked for special considerations to prevent being negatively impacted..
It's become painfully clear that had these people believed they would find themselves in the same situation as the rest of us, they never would have supported this "train wreak" to begin with.
There are really just a few things that most Americans support about the ACA, and they can be found in just several pages of what has now become nearly 20,000 pages of unnecessary, intrusive, and burdensome bureaucracy, that has a price-tag that none of us can afford.

        • Matforce

Those who purchased their own private health insurance plan, and those who are covered through a health insurance plan will not be affected and will not need to shop for insurance through the insurance exchanges being set up by the States. Those who are not destitute (I believe it is 3 times the defined level of poverty, somewhere around $49,000/yr. or less will be exempt from the mandate) will be assessed a 1% tax on their pay to fund ACA and it will increase the next two years until it reaches the stated mandate level of 2.5% of gross adjusted income. Like I said, 2.5% for health care coverage is one heck of a deal, and yes the mandate is a rub. But so is car insurance, and it is mandated if you want to drive a car.
I would like to read your sources that substantiate your claim:
"MANY unions... make the bulk of their income from privately run health insurance companies, companies owned, and run by the unions."

  • BGills

First-off, I find it reprehensible for either party to suggest the other is somehow terrorists, when there are real terrorists in this world, some of which are actually here in this country shooting up our troops in Texas, or bombing folks in Boston.
These geniuses seem to have forgotten one of the most tragic days in recent memory, which was 9/11, those were terrorists!
Those who work within the confines of our system of checks, and balances, should in no way be compared with barbaric animals who distort their own religious text to justify the acts of true terrorism.

That said, of coarse Obama blames Republicans, have we ever known him to do anything else?
Nothing could ever be his fault, he's simply infallible, as his devote followers will readily attest to.

If sequestration were to kick-in, Obama has the discretion as to where cuts would be made. He could use it as an opportunity to cut billions of dollars in waste, and fraud, from current government spending, and improve our fiscal standing as a nation...
Unfortunately there's no one to blame in that particular scenario, so the president in his infinite wisdom has chosen instead to inflict as much hardship as possible on the American people, in an effort to demonize Republicans.
A real leader would do what's best for his nation, unfortunately we are missing this key element.
Awesome plan, if you care nothing for the people you serve, and are only trying to score political points for your party.

Doom???? I'm looking forward to it.

        • Matforce

Your love for the right wingnut ideology has hastened that doom if that's how you view the move toward the "New World Order" or the "One World Government" or whatever you wish to label the handing of the nations unto the Beast. Which political party has the most intense love affair with the idea of the Corporatization and "globalism" of the USA?

Behold the move toward the rule of the "transnational" elite:

Don't you get it . Everything bad is the republicans fault. That is what happens when you control the media, and Obama controls the media. If Even if Obamacare is a disaster the republicans will be blamed because they didn't stop it.

don't insult this man with needing to explain something so terribly obvious to everyone ...I believe you were asking a rhetorical question...we don't play stupid around here.

        Are you serious.????

      • sengal

Tarik here is trying to play games...Boy, if you can't see that the prez controls the media, you're either retarded or a low-information liberal. Did you really think the Benghazi attack was caused by a video?

    • craig

it does seam a little that way

    • larrylunts

Jerry1944, I think that you might enhance your credibility if you lay off the booze a little bit, before commenting. Or, at least, use your computer's spelling and grammar checking tools, before hitting that "Post" button.

      • jerry1944

Sorry sir but I don't drink and may not see that well but I still am a conservative and have my thought like you but I didn't see yours othere than you think I am a drunk. But I am sure God will give you one just kneel and pray that works great

        • larrylunts

          Sorry, Jerry1944.

I didn't realize that you were impaired. I ran your posting through my computer's spelling and grammar checkers, and came up with following results:

"Sorry, sir, but I don't drink, and (I) may not see that well; but I still am a conservative; and have my thought(s) like you. But I didn't see yours, other than you think I am a drunk. But I am sure God will (for)give you one. Just kneel and pray. That works great!"

Pres. Obama got Obamacare into law, now the repub. are trying a last ditch a temp to kill it, love him or hate him he has succeeded dispite all the sh__ he had to endure, I new things would be hard for the first black pres. or woman,+ an afoul econ. he used polatics to it's fullest. If the country crashes because of obamacare I don't think most people will blame repub. they really tried hard.

  • Carolyn Ferrante

The man's a dictator, a Marxist dictator. I guess that's what the Democrats wanted in the White House (I'm referring to the voting public.)

    • Tarik Dean

apparently you just started paying attention to US politics because Obama is the same as the last 5-6 POTUS.

      • craig

your right Bush was a muslim ..that advocated abortion and gay rights...and subliminally stirred up race issues....NOT

        • Terry

          ....I like you.....that was funny.....and Obama sucks.....thank you!

        • Carolyn Ferrante

You're welcome! Most posters in this column think I'm a raving maniac.

        • larrylunts

I haven't seen your posts, but since you're here at all, it does suggest that there is a strong possibility of the supposition that you suggested!

    • jerry1944

that's what the gop wanted also that's why they ran Romney the father of healthcare The gop left its conservative ideas to be like the old dems

    • DeeBar

Carolyn , Even the Dems don't want a dictator . They are just pawns believing the MSM . It's too bad they don't have a mind of their own or the capacity to understand .
jerry44 is right and we have only one party acting as two . Do some history and this plays out . The R's have written some of the most restrictive bills ever and lead the way for Ocrap to increase power in the Gray House . The Bush's were not much better if at all .
This being said by a one time Dem and a 35 year Conservative Republican . Now a straight Conservative .

  • TAM44

Well that lying sissified piece of human waste muslim BOY barack hussein obama is the one who will not negotiate and is holding American tax payers hostage, not John Boehner. Both harry ried and obama are useless as teats on a boar hog and so is the obamacare CRAP.

    • Haymster

      Fuckin' A Bubba!

    • larrylunts

Wow, your powerful and intellectually-reasoned logic has totally convinced me to change my mind. But I do have to disagree with your contention that "teats on a boar hog" are useless. While they may be unable to produce milk to sustain their offspring, I can tell you, from personal experience, that are capable of producing "tons of fun."

I mean this not on a literal basis, where proofs of tests; and judgements of weight and measures might be required, but more on a personal level, as a subjective evaluation of the amount of fun being delivered. By my best estimates, average boar hogs, on a good day, may be possible of delivering as much as 20 fun-tons of fun, based on a considerably less volume of weight. I rest my case.

    • Clint

TAM44, I agree, but we should never let John Boehner off the hook. He has caved to political correctness, expedience and his own political safety so many times that most folks refer to him and his party as Elephonkeys, or is it Donkephants? I'm not sure, but you do get the picture. Unfortunately for us, Boehner is a Rino and we all would be very wise to take everything he says, not only with a big grain of salt, but we should run it through an electron microscope, before we really take a look at what he said. You're right, I for one do not trust Boehner and many other "conservatives", especially those who hold public office. BTW, did I mention the esteemed gentleman from Tennessee, what's his name, Mitch McConnell, another Rino if there ever was one.

  • pysco

The President himself said he will not negotiate, who holds, who hostage. He has played the "Blame Game" ever since he's been in office. He has never taken responsibility for the office he holds, and he has never negotiated anything, and the GOP has let him get by with it, liberals and Democrats will stand by him, regardless of how much he screws America...

    • Clint

As I have said in the past and will again, the Democrat party and the Republican party are two converging paths to the same socialist ends. I was going to say "Hell" but I don't want to be censored, again. There is so little difference in the parties it would be funny, if it were not so pathetic. I hear tell that John Boehner is so good at "caving" he is considering changing his first name to "spelunker", and I think that is a name that fits him to a T. Spelunker Boehner. It has a certain hollowness to it, doesn't it?

  • Terry

....how much longer does he have in office......we all can't wait!

    • Clint

At last calculation I think, if my memory serves me right, it is just over 900 years. At least it seems so.

        • Clint

    • Clint

It is hard to prove a lie.

      • Terry

...yes it is.....but, it is very easy to draw attention away from one, or two, or three, ETC.

        • Clint

That is the purpose of his serial lying. When your entire life is a lie, how can anyone prove something that is not reality. Obummer is not, never has been, and should never be a citizen of these United States.

    • larrylunts

      I'm satisfied.

    • Tarik Dean

What we have here...in the person of Mr. Obama...is Elmer Gantry, in black face.

    • larrylunts

Wow, you actually read a book? By Sinclair Lewis, no less? That's cool. What did you think of "Babbitt?" Wasn't he just an early version of John Boehner, only in orange face?

      • James Crawford

Actually, Boehner is more whiskey face...as was Elmer, at times.

        • larrylunts

Jeez, is that what it is? I always just assumed that he was a tanning bed junkie. I didn't realize that it was an alcoholism problem. But, that being said, that would explain a lot of his actions, both past and present. I imagine that his right-wing handlers must keep a pretty tight rein on him, lest he fall into the clutches of some left-wing hooker, who might be tempted to keep him up past his 10pm bedtime, and cause him to miss nation-sabotaging votes in the morning!

        • James Crawford

The man has never had a right wing handler...he has a resort bartender and that's it. As far as tanning bed junkies, that's too Detroit for Boehner. Nation-sabotaging votes? They've all been cast...over the past many months. We are all just waiting around for the mud to fall off the walls. You better have the MSDS for that stuff.

        • larrylunts

So, you have inside information about Boehner's bartenders? Tell me more!

        • James Crawford

  • Ellen

Why should Obama compromise? He is king of America, isn't he? Executive mandates here, executive mandates there. His specialty. Hope the people who voted for him will really feel his sting.

  • mjnellett

Obama doesn't believe that there are checks to his power as president, so unless he doesn't get his way ALL of the time, then it must be everyone else's fault. His policies, both domestic and foreign are major failures because he is not a leader, a manager, nor a statesman. He is, however a spoiled, corrupt, incompetent individual, totally unsuited for the office that he holds. Not because of the color of his skin, but because of the color of his socialistic policies. He is anti-American, anti Constitution, pathological liar, and an indecisive coward, whose policies are diminishing America's greatness in the face of her enemies. If the government shuts down, then the people need to blame the one person responsible...Barack Insane Obama. Obama has been protected far too long from his ineptness, and his major blunders by the Main Stream Media. Obama won't compromise on anything?? The fault for government shutdown lies solely at his feet, and no one else.

    • Jaclyn Barnes

Amen to what you say about Obama because, your right. On the mark he probably never had to take responsibility, for anything. That he did as a child it was always someone, else fault. So way should Barack Insane Obama start now to take responsibility, for what. He's done to America it's easier for him just to keep blaming the other party.
As for the Republicans who have sided with him like,Senator John McCain!!!They are traitor's and need to,be put out to pasture!!!
Unfortunately there are still those who believe in the,LIER IN CHIEF!!!!That everything he is doing for America is for the good,of it.These MORONS will wake up one day when what's left,of there freedoms. Are gone and say what happened we trusted Obama to do,what he said!!!!Yea he did what he said you STUPID people "Yes We Can Hope and Change". But it's extremely unfortunate that most Americans did not understand or could read between, the lines. What Obama meant that he was going to change America for the worse, possible future!!Which he has done in spades.Have fun for those who voted for him explaining to future generations, why. You voted for this ILLEGAL Con Man!!!!

    • Tarik Dean

LMAO! you must have just stared paying attention to politics in 2009 because Obama and his policy's are EXACTLY the same as the 5 POTUS before him. the only difference is now with so much media coverage and the Internet EVERYTHING the POTUS does is under the microscope and the media also didn't report on such things as the inter-workings of the military ,etc. 40-50 years ago.

the only thing that the media still doesn't talk about now is real economics and how the dollar hedge-money is coming to an end in the middle-east and why the US has been so active over there. nor was there any talk about the rise of the SDR and the effects it's going to have on the US economy in the long and short term.

      • Ted Crawford

EXACTLY. It seems everyone has forgotten about the SDR's, apparently believing they have gone away! Nothing could be further from the truth and as Europe becomes more stable they are about to drop on the American Economy like an Atomic bomb! Saddly with those exact results respecting our Economy!

  • msallyjones

President Obama asked the Republicans to join him in crafting a universal health care bill
The Republicans responded by stating that their number one job was to get Obama out of their White House.

President Obama introduced a health care insurance bill into Congress and asked Republicans how they would like to make it better. Republicans responded by telling the POTUS that they didn't like any of it and would not vote for a Democratic health insurance bill.

President Obama introduced the Heritage Foundation health insurance bill the same one a Republican governor passed in Massachusetts and which all of the Mass. residents like. The Republicans responded by saying they weren't going to pass anything President Obama wanted, ever!

President Obama and the Democrats got a health insurance bill passed without the Republicans and their response was we are going to repeal this bill. And they tried 41 times and couldn't repeal it.

Now all the citizens of the the US need a new budget and a new debt ceiling in order to pay our bills for stuff we have already bought (with Republican approval) and the Republicans say that they are not ever going to pay our bills unless the POTUS gives in on all their demands, defunds the ACA and personally repeals the ACA.

And the Republicans say the POTUS is holding America hostage????? Really?????

Guess what? Americans aren't that stupid. They know that it's Republicans that are acting like a two year old having a temper tantrum in the cereal aisle of the grocery store because they can't get their way.

    • larrylunts

Yeah? Everybody who is conscious already knows all of this, although others will probably comment on your post as though it were not easily established history. So, what is your point?

      • msallyjones

My point is that the headline of this article is simply not true. My point was to restated the history since Republicans have apparently decided that if they forget it it didn't happen. My point is that conservative Republicans and the media that caters to them are being dishonest and someone ought to tell the truth. Nobody else was doing it so I did.

    • CARLjr

You forgot to mention that it's not just healthcare, but a slew of conservative goodies like building the Keystone XL pipeline, repealing Dodd-Frank, gutting EPA rules, means testing medicare, medical liability reform, restrictions on federal regulations, and of course, tax cuts.

Repeal Obamacare or we shut down! Build the Pipeline or we shut down! Allow companies to pollute or we shut down! Give the 1% a tax cut or we shut down!

      • msallyjones

Right. I've seen terrorists with fewer demands. LOL

        • larrylunts

By this point, it's pretty clear that's exactly what the "Tea Party" radicals are—domestic terrorists. Their ultimate goal is to destroy the United States, and make it possible for their right-wing handlers to buy the country at fire sale prices. Those handlers have already invested billions of dollars into buying our political processes; and to installing their puppets into the Congress, the Senate, and the Supreme Court.

Unless you support the complete corporatization of America, where private companies dictate public policy; have free rein to pollute the skies and the groundwater; turn vast areas of the country into "sacrifice zones;" run the prisons, and criminalize more and more behavior so as to guarantee a steady supply of product; then you have to vote these "Tea Party" bastards out of office.

In fact, the safest thing would just be to vote all Republicans out of office; including the ones who still seem to be sane; because you never know whether or not they might be carriers of the "Tea Party" virus.

A very tiny group of people, with unbelievable amounts of money, think it is a great idea to turn the United States into a third-world debtor nation, with a vast pool of cheap labor willing to scramble for table scraps; in order to serve burgeoning markets in China, and India; and other places where they have already actively been shipping your jobs, for years.

          I don't.

        • msallyjones

          Excellent post. Thank you.

        • Matforce

Wow, Carl, Jones, Larry, not a peep... Way to lay it out plain for all to see! How do you spell Plutocracy? Take a look at these clips that substantiate and give substance to your posts; it's worse than we think:

          http://www.businessinsider.com/deindustrialization-factory-closing-2010-9?op=1

The move toward the interlocking of the world's elite (the movers and shakers) and the interdependence of global financial networks that have conspired to corner the market and thereby control the terms of international power through a monopoly on international finance/corporate monopoly... These very clever interlocking corporate directors, managed to grab the lion's share of the worlds wealth. By working together, they now own 40% of the assets of all of the 43,000 companies traded on the capital markets of the world. Let that sink in for a minute, then watch the next clip:
This next clip addresses the Global Power Shift; sucks for us...

          http://www.ted.com/talks/paddy_ashdown_the_global_power_shift.html

    • Kenneth Duncan

Actually it is knuckle heads like you that Obama is president. Obama has never asked republicans for in put. The senate and house were his in the beginning. He did not need the republicans. They were even locked out of the room at negotiation times. All they have done now, is try to defund Obama care, it is a train wreck waiting to happen. I say, let the dems pass it and when it fails miserably slam time. I don't trust anyone that continually lies. Do you?

      • msallyjones

Let's put the "control" nonsense to rest. Because Frankel wasn't seated the POTUS only had only 6 weeks of a majority in the House and Senate. Six weeks is not "control". The Republicans were eventually locked out of negotiations when they refused to work on issues or when the negotiations were Democratic negotiations. Republicans do not invite Democrats into their negotiations. The ACA is not a train wreck. It is going to work. All the policy and think tank centers including responsible Republican ones say it is going to work. It's not perfect, because Republicans refuse to work on it, but it is going to work. And you know it is going to work because Republicans are acting so nutty about it: 41 losing attempts at repeal, holding the nation hostage, spreading rumors like death panels, denial of care, forced switching of docs, care cut offs and calling the POTUS really ugly names are the actions of people scared silly that President Obama is going to get credit for something as big as universal health insurance. Those are not the actions of people genuinely concerned about the need for health insurance for the uninsured in America.

        • Patricia McGehee

Perhaps you need to pull your head out of the Left's rear end and read some news not written by the Marxist Left. When you watch the Lame stream media all you get is slanted information. This so called health bill is aimed at people that have their head off their shoulders. It controls 1/6 of the economy and that ain't chump change. It forces Americans to buy something they don't want and that is not constitution. Obama is a lying dog.

        • msallyjones

Social Security controls 1/5 of the economy. The military controls 1/4 of the economy. I don't hear any complaints. Medicare, Medicaid and ACA together will control 1/4 of the budget, the same as the military. So? is your point that beneficial Government programs should not cost anything but it's OK to spend 1/4 of the budget on military?

        • Ted Crawford

Ever bothered to read Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution, the enumerated responsibilities of Congress? Nearly half (8 of 18) the provisions deal with the Military and National Defense. Exactly 'O' deal with Welfare, or Education, or Healthcare!

        • msallyjones

I don't understand your point. Sorry.

        • Ted Crawford

My point, which I would have thought obvious is that you decry the Federal expendatures for the Military and National Defense, which ARE enunerated responsibilities of the Federal Government. While calling FOR Federal expendatures for agencies NOT even mentioned in the Enumerated Federal Responsibilities! The provision that provides guidance for these Social Issues can be found in the Bill of Rights, specifically the Tenth Amendment!

        • msallyjones

Read the pre-amble to the Constitution for responsibilities.

        • Ted Crawford

My post still stands. Clearly they were explaining exactly what they intended to address with the Constitution, if it isn't enumerated specifically elsewhere it is not intended to be a responsibility of the Federal Government. ERGO it falls under the provisions of the Tenth Amendment!

        • msallyjones

          SECTION 8.

          The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

what parts of the words general welfare do you not understand?

        • larrylunts

Oh. sorry! I don't like to interrupt, but the fat guy I was thinking of earlier, who died in a hotel room, was Elvis Presley. He was fat, and then he died. True story!

    • Patricia McGehee

Stupidity runs rampant. Republicans weren't invited to share in anything by Marxist Obama. I recall watching him stick his ugly nose up in the air and tell John McCain, "I WON!" How's that for a 2 year old reply?

      • msallyjones

Yes, he did say he won and before he took office McConnell said, "Our #1 job is to make sure he is a one term president" Don't try to tell us Republicans have been cooperative. They haven't and everybody that reads factual news knows it.

        • Ted Crawford

To be "cooperative" with the counterproductive, disingenuous legislating of this regime, with the "Fundamental Changing" of a Free Society, would be akin to a victim remainding the killer to take off the safety before they pull the trigger!
What they have done to address the issues, is to have passed several Budget proposals (the Progressives in the Senate have proposed 'O' during this entire Administration), dozens of Appropiations bills, and hundreds of jobs bills, all of which never left Harry Reids desk!

        • msallyjones

Ted, you can believe what you want to believe but when the history books are written President Obama will be written in as the first black president and as the president that finally got universal health insurance passed after all presidents since Harry Truman failed. He will be remembered as the president that not only passed the insurance bill but actually got the insurance to the public against the total intransigence of the Republican Party. History books will note this was the era the Republican party imploded and descended into madness as they blocked all action in Congress and held the American economy hostage in an attempt to make President Obama look bad after they lost an election they had bragged was in the bag for them.

        • Ted Crawford

History books in Germany once loudly proclaimed the wisdom and greatness of Adoplh Hitler
History books in China still proclaim the greatness of Mao
History books in Russia still sing the praises of Lenin
FACTS on the other hand paint a far, far different picture of these despotic kindred spirits to Obama!

        • msallyjones

And history books are right. All of those men were men of towering influence on their countries and on history. That's a fact. It's also a fact that President Obama will go down in the history books in spite of every effort made by the Republican party to abort his presidency. In fact I'd be willing to bet that history books in the interests of comic relief will also mention some of the nuttier acts of the Republican party like the Birthers, the TeaPartiers, and the loony-con media with it's scandal a week program.

        • Ted Crawford

If these types of Governments make you happy, I would respectfully submit that you seek residence in one of the many currently in existance! I, for my part, will not willingly allow my country to be "transformed" into yet another despotic Leftist Ogliarchy!

        • msallyjones

You extrapolated that from my post?????? You are either incapable of reading for meaning or you are basically dishonest and intent assigning to me characteristics that I do not have in an effort to discredit me and what I say. So which are you stupid or dishonest? Nice choice you backed yourself into.

        • Ted Crawford

You can't possibly be that myopically dense!

          WOW ! ! ! Obviously I was totally wrong , you really ARE ! !

        • larrylunts

          Are what?

          I think he means 'Arggggg'

        • larrylunts

Wait. "International Talk Like a Pirate Day" (September19) was over almost two weeks ago! Where do you get off, talking like a pirate, outside of holiday season?

        • HBM

There's always the third choice which makes you look to be the stupid dishonest one: Ted's Right !!!

        • msallyjones

Why don't you see if you can re-cap what Ted said and we'll see if Ted is right. I'm guessing you don't even know what Ted is saying.

        • msallyjones

You have forgotten that Mitch McConnell said his famous line about making Obama a one term president before the inauguration. Does that sound like a party eager to cooperate????? Hmmm???

        • Ted Crawford

Any reasoning person, having read his books and doing even a cursory look at his background and upbringing had the same thoughts!

        • msallyjones

No, the 52% that elected him over McCain/Palin most certainly did not think that.

        • Ted Crawford

I did qualify it be indicating they be informed (read his books and researched his background and up bringing), and reasoning!

        • Fisher

Obama said that he would make himself a one term president if he couldn't turn the high unemployment rate around.

        • msallyjones

He did it was around 10% when he took office it went slightly higher the next year and came down to 7.8% in 2012. It's now about 7.3%

    • Mys77

Healthcare should never have been up to a political, self serving, power hungry government.... No one should give their freedom, power, voice, self reliance, self determination to a government that can and will quickly use and abuse their power over the people. History shows us this, and it is human nature to want to control and use their power over others. You may think this healthcare tax is non threatening and helpful, but it is not sustainable and will NOT work. Anything man tries to control, they will always destroy....always.

      • Ted Crawford

" If the People let Government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tryanny" Thomas Jefferson

        • msallyjones

So why don't you list all the foods that government has passed laws against you eating?

As far as I know the only foods the government has said shall not be marketed are those contaminated with bacteria or poisons that can make you sick. Are you trying to say you want the government to stop recalls of contaminated foods?

        • Ted Crawford

Do you intend that we believe that you are unaware of the attempt by his proxy, Michelle, to ban the Potatoe for example, and her disasterous attempt to dictate HER idea of a good diet into our School System, which like PPACA is being rejected and falling apart, after costing our School Systems hundreds of thousends of dollars, wasted on food the students refused to eat?

        • msallyjones

Ted, she suggested, she didn't create law. A few schools tried something new. It didn't work. They quit doing it. You have never been denied potatoes. Stop trying to make yourself into a victim of something that doesn't exist. Every First Lady does something to make an impact. Laura Bush promoted reading and Libraries. Hillary Clinton was a co-partner with Bill in making political decisions. Barbara Bush promoted children's hospitals. Nancy Reagan promoted astrology and new dinnerware. Michelle promotes good nutrition.

        • larrylunts

This quote is a fraud. Please, do a little basic research before you pass on rants that you get from right-wing websites, and make yourself look stupid.
          http://www.snopes.com/quotes/jefferson/medicine.asp

        • Ted Crawford

Thank you, I stand corrected. However I would submit that what Mr.Jefferson actually said isn't substantially different than the misquote! "Was the Government to prescribe our medicine and diet, our bodies would be in such keeping as our souls are now"! Clearly he considered that letting government dictate anything around our healthcare or diet as egregious as allowing them to dictate our Religious beliefs!

        • Mys77

Looney leftist...always NOT getting the concept or staying on topic. Must be difficult to ever have a conversation without the left getting off of the subject at hand...and then eventually resorting to....calling names, using the race card, or blast Christians for not being tolerant when it is goes against their demonic agenda.... Lying , demonic, dems.

        • msallyjones

Who is calling names? Wasn't me that said Looney Leftist. Nobody has used the race card. And nobody has blasted any Christians. What are you talking about?

        • Mys77

I can't talk real slow for you to understand...so you will have to read real slow to comprehend my analogy...you do know what that is mssallly??? Try to get this...whenever someone tries to make a statement based on factual data concerning the healthcare over reach and the "real cost" that can't be supported...ever....the "looney left" resorts to that conservatives hate the poor, are racist, or blast the Christians to get on board....and then if that doesn't work.... they resort to playing dumb....just like you just did with.....Gee, I don't know what you are talking about!!!!! You have the demos playbook by heart. So if you really are dumb, then that explains how you just don't get it. Don't reply... I can't fix stupid.

        • msallyjones

LOL Mys77, no matter how slow I read I still can't figure out your garbled English. Did you not pay attention in Jr. High composition and grammar class? I do have to agree with you, however, that you probably can't fix "stupid". Given your skills it would be quite a daunting task for you.

        • Mys77

Thanks for making my point....Name calling and no siginificant reply that defends any comment you have tried to make here. And I know you won't be able to help yourself and will just have to reply to my comment...because stupid people never realize when they should stop commenting when they have nothing else relevant to say. So, quit your socialist rantings, and quit responding and bothering me. I hate gnats! Slap! Whoops...think I just swatted one...was that you? LOL

      • msallyjones

So providing health insurance as all other industrialized countries do, to all Americans is taking away freedoms and abusing power? That's a very interesting concept. Care to expand on it?

        • Ted Crawford

Yes. These Industrialized countries are in even worse shape economically than are we, due partially to these counterproductive policies! Secondly the proper, workable method of dealing with this issue is in complaince with the Tenth Amendment, as was done in Massachuetts, at the State level!

        • msallyjones

Ted Crawford, let me quote Ted Crawford to you: "as Europe becomes more stable they are about to drop on the American Economy like an Atomic bomb! Saddly with those exact results respecting our Economy!

LOL Industrialized countries are in worse shape economically than we are. ???????? not according to Ted Crawford. LOL

        • Mys77

Okay...here it is.... Health insurance "is" available. But should NOT be mandated that all purchase it.... that is government going to far! For that reason...why not government mandating that all Americans purchase a gun, all Americans practice a religion, all Americans serve in the military...all Americans dress the same, live in the same house, have the same car...ect. The fact that government is giving people NO choice, NO voice, and NO say into how they spend or not spend their own money.... is NOT what I would call an industrialized nation....but a dictatorship, soiclaist, communist one. For that matter, how would you like it if I told you what to buy, eat, say, and do....????

        • msallyjones

You don't understand risk pools do you?

        • Mys77

And you don't understand that socialized medicine does NOT work, will never work, and the government has NO right to demand that everyone join in the "risk' pool. When there is no freedom to choose...NO ONE including you should want that. I understand all to well the snow job demonic dems are pulling. You probably really think it is about health care....it isn';t. it is about power, control, taxation, and making people dependent and needy and giving their freedoms and rights away. The government is seeing how much freedom and money they can take from you.... including your right to choose. So, get a clue...

        • msallyjones

Sweetie, I live in a state bordering Canada. I have Canadian friends. Socialized medicine works, they love it. All the crap the conservatives put out about dying while waiting, long lines, no docs, poor quality. They aren't true. Go to Canada in find out the truth for yourself. My sister lives in England. I know about that socialized system also. It works. They love it. The crap you conservatives believe about the English system being bankrupt and out of control is just that ........ crap.

And what idiot are you listening to that tells you universal health insurance is about power, control, taxation, dependency and giving away your freedom and rights. Health insurance is about getting pre-natal care early in the pregnancy so kids are born healthy and mothers don't die in childbitth. It's about getting all kids regular check-ups not just my kids because I have good insurance . It's about cancer screening for everyone not just the people that can afford it. It's about every American having health care so they can live and work to their fullest potential with out the threat of bad health ruining their finances or their lives.

        • Mys77

Please don't be so condescending and simply minded... First of all, I am surprised you have friends, but not surprised they live and breathe through a socialist breathing tube.Socialize medicine does NOT work... will never work and is NOT sustainable. And lastly, take your rhetoric and lies and move to Canada, of jolly old England. When a government demands you buy something you don't want, or need, or desire....and penalizes you for making a choice...that is not freedom. Threatening people to do something or else is something indeed to fight against. This is a TAX...not insurance...this is about forcing people to not have a choice, or voice, or self determination about their very on lives. You are sickenly blind and foolish.....And by the way....guess you forgot about Greece, and France, and Spain.... they are falling apart with entitlements that are NOT sustainable.....they are broke.... and you in your mind think it will be different??? Stupid. Really, really stupid.

        • msallyjones

Do you feel threatened when buying required car insurance? Banks and lending agencies require you to buy home insurance. Threat? If you live in a flood plain you are required to have government flood insurance, is that threatening? Schools require that your child be insured against diseases by being vaccinated. Is that a threat or is it a responsibility of schools to see that other kids aren't exposed to disease?

We are required to do lots of things that are for the good of all. We all drive on the right side of the road. We all have headlights and tail lights. Kids are required to be in seat belts. We live in a society together. We do certain things together so we are all safer or healthier.

As for Greece, Spain, Italy and Portugal, yes they are having problems right now. Greece, Spain and Italy existed at the time of Christ. They are not going to fall apart and cease to exist. They will have a change of government, a change of heart and a change of politics and will still be here for the next two millennium . Have a little faith in your God and the world you say he controls. Things aren't falling apart. People are still good and generous and loving. The quiet beauty of Winter will followthe lushness of Autumn and Spring will come with warmth and new life. You seem to have so little faith in your God.

    • Ted Crawford

Clearly you weren't paying attention when this excretement was oozing from the bowels of the Progressive Party! "They can come along, they just need to sit in the back!" - "The election is over, I won!" Barack Obama; "Elections have consequences... We're in charge!" Nancy Pelosi
With invites as gracious as that it's hard to understand why there is any resistance at all!

  • Sam

This is the man the Tea Party put in office by not voting.

    • Patricia McGehee

A H. You sound like that Marxist liar in the WH.

    • msallyjones

And that is typical TP behavior. When they don't get what they want they kick and scream and won't cooperate with anyone. Republicans created the TP. Now you are reaping the rewards of your divisive creation. Enjoy!

      • Ted Crawford

"Republicans created the TP" ?! Not particularly well informed are you! The Tea Party came into being in 2007, in opposition to the excessive spending of the Bush '43' administration! Little did even they realize that this day would come! The day when getting to the levels of Bush '43' would seem a distant goal, on the road to recovery!

        • msallyjones

In 2001 conservative Republicans started inserting tea bags in their letters to Congressmen complaining about high taxes. Yes Republicans started the TP and the Koch brothers (Republicans) funded it starting in 2007.

        • Ted Crawford

You're half right, it was Conservatives, not necessarilly the same as Republican, as displayed by Lamar Alexander, Lisa Murkowski, Lindsey Graham, Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins and Chris Christie for example!!

  • Patricia McGehee

We know Obama for what he is, a low down, blood sucking, lying Marxist custard. If the drubs that voted for him the second time believe the lies he's now telling about the Republicans being to blame then there truly is no hope for the USA. Surely, they see Obama for what he is, a destroyer. He's destroyed the economy and his so called Obamacare is putting him in the bedroom, the bathroom and every other room of your home thanks to the NSA he changed to meet his invasive, Marxist control. He will own you and everything thing about you. People, that is 1/6 of the American economy and that ain't chump change.

    • msallyjones

      Destroyer of what?
Invader of you bedroom and bathroom how?
      Liar about what?

You make a lot of pretty serious accusations but I don't see any facts to back them up?

      • larrylunts

Hey! We're Tea Partiers! We don't need no gol darn facts, or stuff! Semper Fi! Live Free or Die! Don't Tread on Me! Molon Labe! Who is John Galt? Tempus Fugits! Nolo Contenderay! And so on. (Guys, why aren't you helping me out, here?)

Or "Honk if you love Hitler"

        • Matforce

You left out their role model, The Marquis St. Evremonde...

      • Scientist5

Again, Sally Jones - go have your eyes examined so you can see what is happening to America. Every live in a Communist country? I saw the aftermath of Communism in Kazakhstan - people hungered for the chance to administer their own affairs once the yoke of Communism was lifted.

        • msallyjones

I'm assuming that you think this country is now a communist state? Have you informed the Koch brothers about this, or the Rockafellers, or the Gates or all the Wall Street financiers. They are all going to be very surprised at your announcement.

        • Scientist5

Not yet, but, I think Liberal ideas are pushing us toward collapse of the US. The next step is collapse into anarchy, this is followed by a dictatorship. The cycle has occurred in civilization after civilization because people never heed the lessons of history, they just keep repeating them over an over. History proves that democracy is only temporary- it seems it cannot exist as a permanent form, of government. Why? Because it exists only until voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury. Result - every democracy finally collapses over loose fiscal policy. This has always been followed by a dictatorship.
Don't believe it - read about the collapse of Greece and Rome for examples. History is strewn with other examples. Don't believe me - go to history and find out.

        • msallyjones

You are absolutely right about democracy. It is the most fragile of the forms of government. And you are right again about understanding that one can vote one's self into riches at the expense of the rest of the citizenry. I believe that vast wealth of corporations and the men that run them are doing exactly that.

Universal health insurance is a perfect example of this. It will cut into insurance corporations obscene profits and insurance corporations are throwing money at Congress by the bucketful. They are also funding the organizations that keep the TP propagandizing people like ONLTJB, Mys77, Ted and others into believing the POTUS is forcing socialism on them through the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare)

While I think that democracy is in danger from the powerful voting themselves wealthy I believe the greater danger lies in the population being uneducated, anti-intellectual, overly religious and therefore unable to understand and vote against what is being done against their interests by the powerful. Universal health insurance is a benefit to the very people who have been propagandized into fighting against it.

        • larrylunts

I applaud your attempts to communicate with the brain-dead people and the paid corporate sock-puppets, who read and comment on this stuff; even though you know, as well as I do; that it is a complete waste of time. Nevertheless, I celebrate your spirit, and your optimism!

        • Ted Crawford

Thank you Comrade for your self aggrandizing, totally meaningless rant!

        • msallyjones

          Hope springs eternal. LOL

        • Scientist5

I can see that you agree that handouts are great, that profits and success are not acceptable. That everyone should be equal financially. AND, this is done by making the rich, or those with above average income, pay for the millions who are not making as much money, or not working. I call that socialism at best, and THAT leads to the communist system.

Lady, I think you should try running a business and never exceeding what you made the year before. Never plan to expand, split all the profits with your employees so everyone has the same amount. How long do you think you could stay in business? Pretty soon, the sharing would be dividing up ZERO.

You think anyone who is successful and makes a lot of money is corrupt. You do not realize that entrepreneurs built this nation by investing time, money, and sweat - yes, risking everything. Of course, they must be denied their success - it must be shared with all who did not want to take the risks. You really believe this, don't you?

        • msallyjones

Scientist you cannot believe that in a democracy people can vote great wealth to themselves and simultaneously believe that the history of business in the United States is unmarred by people who have voted themselves unearned wealth.

I'm well aware of the economic history of the US. I understand its great potential for wealth and its great potential for abuse. The health insurance industry has in the past 40 years been abusing the privileges of our democracy. Look up the number of lobbyists hired by the health insurance corporations then ask yourself if these lobbyists have your interests or the corporations interests in mind when they talk congress-people into voting certain ways.

I do not think everyone who makes great fortunes is corrupt. Think of Andrew Carnegie and the vast steel empire he built, or Ford, or Sam Walton or Gates. These people earned their fortunes by being smarter, making a better product and working harder than their competitors. Why would anyone deny them their well earned fortunes.

        • Scientist5

I give Gates a lot of applause - however he came from a prominent family with money. Carnegie was hard as nails and trampled people on his way up - that was the system in those days. His wealth has been used wisely for the good of man. Ford was a different kinda guy and played a tough game. His wealth has been used for good causes. Sam Walton represents the 1940s kind of entrepreneur - has done a great job, yet he is chastised for not paying people enough - hmmm - called the free market - you pay what a person is worth.
Who are these people you keep raving about that got voted into great wealth?

        • msallyjones

Most of your Wall Street financiers are wealthy because of the lax banking and finance laws that allowed them to manipulate the markets and banking.

Many of our congress-people are wealthy because of inside knowledge of how laws will effect the stock market. Remember Hillary and her profits in the cattle business. I think it was cattle. One day she owned a few stocks and the next she had made hundreds of thousands.

Congress-people vote on subsidizes that often go directly to them or their family or business.

All of this wealth is based on lobbying for laws that benefit the collection of wealth.

        • Scientist5

Now, I understand your comment about being voted to wealth. Just look at Barack Obama, Harry Reid, Lyndon Johnson, and many others. Then we have a bunch of appointed czars and cabinet members who have no private business experience telling businessmen how to run their businesses. The whole scheme of things is appalling and is certain to lead to our demise as a democracy unless it is brought to a halt.

    • larrylunts

I like custard. Tapioca is my favorite.

Obama and his cronies are all disciples of Goebbel, the use his Nazis play book continually - tell a big lie over and over until it becomes the truth to the gullible public. It WORKS - that is why our country is on the decline on every level. Hello Rome, Greece, and dozens of other civilizations - man never heeds the lessons of history, he just keeps repeating the same old things.

    • Ted Crawford

" The shaft of the Arrow had been feathered with one of the Eaglea own plumes! We often give our Enemies the means to our own destruction" Aesop
The current Prophets of Progressive Ideology are Saul Alinsky, who's organization Barack Obama worked for, and Hillary briefly considered, the source of his design for Rhetoric " Their mutual goal is so good and so bright that it is not important if one must go through a few devious valleys and shadows" Reveille For Radicals
"All effective actions require the passport of morality" Rules For Radicals!
Obama's primary Legislative actions, particularly his choices for the allocation of"Stimulus" funds, Dodd-Frank, and especally PPACA, are in keeping with the Cloward-Piven Strategy! A strategy, they openly declared, that was intended to "Collapse the Capitalist System, by intentionally overburdening the Safety-Net programs"! Programs designed to provide aid for those in our Society most in need!
"Unless Democracy is to commit suicide by consenting to it's own destruction, it will have to find some formadable answer to those who come to it saying " I demand from you, in the name of your Principles, the rights which I shall deny you later, in the name of my Principles" Walter Lippmann

      • msallyjones

You haven't a clue who Walter Lippmann is do you, or what that quote means.

        • Scientist5

Sally Jones - how much do you know about Lippman. I don't know about the quote used by Ted, but I know a lot about Lippmann. Here's one of his quotes I like - 'In a free society the state does not administer of affairs of men. It administers justice among men who conduct their own affairs'.
By the way - the Obama administration is administering the affairs of each one of us by edict. Maybe you think this is right - I don't!

        • msallyjones

I probably don't know nearly enough about Mr. Lippmann. I do know he was a very thoughtful political thinker and very liberal. He started the liberal magazine "The New Republic"

What Ted doesn't understand is that Lippmann is referring to
zealots of his time which were the Birch Society anti -communists. Were
Lippmann alive today he would see in the conservative Christian TP crowd the same zealotry. In your quote he is again noting the difference between a society controlled by zealots and a freeer society.

I believe
Christian conservatives mistakenly think Lippmann agrees with them. He
          wouldn't.

Lippmann also said: It is perfectly true that that government is best which governs least. It is equally true that that government is best which provides most.

        • Ted Crawford

I would submit that that statement, like most of Mr. Lippmanns work is so imbued with Simple Truth, that it transcends any single application! That statement is true here, and in the struggling Social Democracy's of Europe equally!
The delima of balance you exposed in your last sentence, is one that Mr. lippmann struggled with his whole life, as should any who would advise or lead! Mr. Obama on the other hand doesn't bother with such trivialities he just GROWS Government, and expands it's reach, further and further into our private lives!

        • msallyjones

Oh, come on Ted, universal health insurance isn't expanding government further and further into our private lives. Every civilized nation and some uncivilized ones have universal health insurance or health care. It's not like we are breaking new ground here.

Yes, NSA is an invasion and needs to be reined in. However, that too isn't much worse than, say, the UK with its CCTV. I remember, when the Patriot Act was passed, saying to a conservative friend of mine that it had the possibility of being abused. The answer from him was, "the only people that need to be afraid of the Patriot Act are terrorists and criminals" So now we have NSA and guess what, it's been abused. Thanks a lot conservatives.

Who says it's only Democrats that expand government?

        • Ted Crawford

Comparing oneself to someone else, to determine the rightness or wrongness of anything is the creed of a deciple, not a Leader!
You are close on your analysis of the Patriot Act, with two exceptions: The Patriot Act was passed overwhelmingly, by Democrats and Republicans alike, NOT by Conservatives, they were in opposition to it. In addition to that as egregious as the Patriot Act was, Obama and the Progressives passed NDAA, essentially The Patriot Act on serious steriods! NDAA, even more than The Patriot Act created these current NSA Probes!
In either case politicians should have considered what Mr. Johnson warned about passing Legislation!
"You [should] not examine Legislation in the light of the benifits it will convey if properly administered, but in light of the wrongs it would do and the harm it would cause if improperly administered" Lyndon Johnson Saddly the same can be said of much of the new legislation from this administration, IE: Dodd-Frank, and PPACA !

        • Scientist5

I certainly wasn't Birch society, but I've always been anti-communist. I do disagree that gov't is best when it provides the most. Who provides this money for the gov't. to PROVIDE the most?. Gee, could it be the taxpayers - the more they provide the closer we become to collapse. Fewer and fewer are PROVIDING for more and more. FACT!
Lady, face reality. I was an adult in the 1940s and saw the Depression Years as a young teenager. It was a terrible time. However, it took Adolf Hitler to end the worldwide depression by starting a major war. WWII put America on the path to becoming the world's super power - at great cost in the lives of my generation. In spite of it all, we, of that generation, never doubted the just cause.

        • msallyjones

I remember sitting up in the top of our big beech tree and listening to the sirens blaring the end of the war. The next day our little down town was festooned with toilet paper strands. I also remember the worry of air raids and blackout. We lived in NJ and German subs were a possibility.

        • Ted Crawford

Exactly how, does my knowledge, or lack of it, change, in any way, the words of his statement? How does my knowledge of Mr. Lippmann reflect on the wisdom of that remark? The fact that he was a Liberal, who influienced Democrat Presidents from Woodrow Wilson thru Lyndon Johnson, only serves to demonstrate, just how very, very far you Progressives have degraded the once Proud Democrat Party!

        • msallyjones

Ted, he's talking about people like you demanding rights and then denying others they same rights.

        • Ted Crawford

Please enlighten me! What rights do I demand that you believe Ii would deny to others? Self improvement is always worth the effort, and if I am indeed quilty of what you assert, it is unintentional and unknown to me. If I can become aware I can give them the die consideration!

        • msallyjones

Perhaps not you personally but the group you belong to.

The group that right now is demanding, on the grounds of their freedom of religion,it is their right to prevent women the freedom to have contraceptives included in the ACA package.

Bloggers abusing freedom of the press which was granted so that citizens would have the information they need to make informed choices, with headlines like the above on this article

        • Ted Crawford

I'm unaware of what group you believe I belong to, however it seems you believe I'm a Christian, that's not the case at all. I'm instead a Deist. My objection to abortion is on a personal moral and pratical plain. While I find the pratice of Abortion on Demand, as a form of Birth Control abhorrent, and believe it is the action of an irresponsible couple, given the current standard of the begining of Life, I can't argue to make it Illegal. I do, however, believe that the American Tax Payer should not pay for it in the context of Birth Control! In the case of Rape, Incest and life of the Mother, This decision should rightly be between the Woman, her Family and her Doctor and should be covered !
I do question the sincerity of those who would advocate a jail sentence to someone disturbing an Eagles egg, while also arguing for the destruction of a Human embryo!

        • msallyjones

I actually thought of you simply as uber-conservative. The contraceptive example was just that an example of demanding a right and using it to deprive another of a right.
Let's save the abortion issue for another time otherwise the whole comments section is going to descend into the morass of a right to life discussion.

        • Ted Crawford

Fair enough, let's deal only with the conterception issue! Conterception is simply a device to protect one from the negative, in their minds, consequiences of a lifestyle choice.
By that standard why shouldn't a gambler, for example, demand that the Government pay off their losses, to protect them from their choice?
Why, using your arguement, shouldn't someone who attempts to start a business and fails, demand that the Government reimburse them for their choice?
" If you protect a man from follys, you create a Nation of fools" William Penn
I have no desire to determine anyone's lifestyle, neither do I wish to pay for it!

        • larrylunts

Wasn't Walter Lippmann that fat guy, who died in a hotel room? Oh, wait, maybe I'm thinking about John Belushi. Never mind!

        • msallyjones

LOL I think Walter Lippmann died a very respectable and dignified death.

  • ONLYJB1

Just so you know. Here is the list of 25 Republican liars and turncoats! Remember them if a recall or they come up for re election! These individuals MUST GO!

25 Republicans voted to end debate on the legislation:

    Lamar Alexander of Tennessee

    Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire

    John Barrasso of Wyoming

    Roy Blunt of Missouri

    John Boozman of Arkansas

    Richard Burr of North Carolina

    Saxby Chambliss of Georgia

    Jeffrey Chiesa of New Jersey

    Daniel Coats of Indiana

    Mark Steven Kirk of Illinois

    John McCain of Arizona

    Mitch McConnell of Kentucky

    Lisa Murkowski of Alaska

    John Thune of South Dakota

    Roger Wicker of Mississippi

A list of Republican cowards! Many of these politicians ran on a ticket that they would do everything in their power to do away with obamacare! And they were elected! Now, witness what they have just done! This is why our nation is broken! Let's begin healing by getting rid of these traitors!

    • msallyjones

What you mean is 25 Republicans that didn't act like mindless idiots and go along with Tea Party blackmail and attempt to hold all Americans hostage to their petty hates for President Obama.

      • ONLYJB1

No, you socialist indoctrinated sole! Open your eyes my friend! Oh, you poor thing, when push comes to shove in America! You will be one of those to go first! And your family if any will soon follow! Please when the day comes, don't bow at our feet and beg forgiveness. We the prepared warned you and you and those as yourself made fun of us and called us names! Reap what you sow! Uh, by the way, that's in the Bible. You know that book you and yours laughed at us for believing in and following it's teachings. Close your eyes, I will make it quick for you!
The day is at hand. The uprising is building!

        • msallyjones

          Matthew 25:34-40
34 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdomprepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,[a] you did it to me.’

Denying health insurance to the poor and the weak and the sick so they can be cared for doesn't seem to be one of those things of which God would approve. You reap what you sow.

        • larrylunts

Gosh, do we really have to be reduced to quoting Bible verses to the yokels?
Oh wait, we're still in the Midwest. Sorry!

        • msallyjones

Hey, he implied I didn't know what the bible said. LOL Looks to me like he only wants to listen to what crazy John had to say in Revelations.

        • Mys77

You don't...You only want to pick and choose what to read...and completely ignore Revelations? Yeah, I don't think you know anything.

        • msallyjones

Revelations is the raving of a very disturbed mind. If you were to ask a psychiatrist to analyze the author the answer would be swift and definite; the writer suffers from classic schizophrenia. John shows the beginnings of his mental breakdown in the gospel John.

        • Mys77

You really need to check out your own written words. How humorous it is that because your small, simple mindless ramblings can't comprehend one simple concept in all of the bible, you think it crazy and insignificant or relevant. And again resort to name calling. You really are acting childish and I feel sorry for you that you are blind...and just refuse to see. Revelation is for those who are not bound by Satan, and for those who choose to live in the light of truth. You my friend are bound in darkness and deception, and therefore are blind to God's word, truth, and life. Feel sorry for you.

        • msallyjones

You can feel as sorry as you want. It still doesn't change the fact that John was a schizophrenic who wrote a wildly interesting and visually entertaining collection of nonsense. Revelations contains no religious philosophy, no intellectual thought, no homilies for the masses as in the rest of the Bible. Revelations is simply the wild ravings of a diseased mind. It doesn't even hold together as literature. It was put into the bible as a sop to Christian mystics of the day.

        • HBM

LOL, sounds like you were there and witnessed it all first hand. That old are you? Though I can thoroughly understand your familiarity with schizophrenia, it's apparent in all your posts. You should see someone about that, they can help you nowadays.

        • msallyjones

Read some Church history and the characteristics of schizophrenia. It's not rocket science.

        • Mys77

Doesn't change the fact????Where in the world do you get your facts??? Wow, I am so ovewhelmed that you are so smart???? So superior, so intellectually astute...LOL Who are you again??? Yeah, never heard of you... cured cancer maybe? A world leader of peace perhaps? Made a contribution to the democratic party for sure! Listen up.... just because you can't understand the meaning of anything in the bible, does not surprise me. You can't even understand why socialism is a failure and has never worked, or will work. LOL I bet you even have a hard time understanding your kids. All the people throughout history that are educated, intelligent, leaders in their communities have read and studied the bible for guidance and decisions they made. Revelations is letting us know of the signs of the end...it has yet to be experienced....but it is to tell us to be ever watchful and ready....can't understand that simply concept??? Can I get you a sign that says...Sorry I am stupid...Obama made me that way.

        • msallyjones

Mys77. France, the UK, Sweden, Finland and Norway are going to be very surprised to find out socialism has never worked and that their countries are failures. You do realize that they are fairly socialized countries.

        • Mys77

Get with the current economic news msally....they "know" it isn't working, it seems you are the last to get it. They are also weaker and dependent on the good old USA for not only our money....captialism you know....but also military as well.... And oh, yes...our medicine, techonology, equipment, pharmaceuticals, education..ect. Your stupidity is astounding. Don't you know...socialism is a failed system..because eventually you run out other peoples money...and it will collapse. I guess you haven't heard that the government is taking peoples money from the bank and using it to pay for all the entitlement programs...healthcare being one of them. This is why people are moving their money out of their countries banks to offshore, or to the US. You really are living in a bubble.

        • larrylunts

Huh? What did he say there? I hate it when people say stuff I don't understand, or when I'm asleep.

        • Mys77

Just remember that attitude when you come face to face with your death, or when trouble comes to your door. Don't you dare utter those words...Oh, my God.... the same God you are mocking. And just a reminder.... God is everywhere he is invited....rather have Him with me than without. Your flippant words mean nothing when you hide behind the screen...you will not say that face to face with God Almighty.

        • msallyjones

God and I have an agreement. I don't criticize how he runs his world and he doesn't mess around in my affairs. We've agreed that I'm free to believe dead is just dead and he is free to foist all that heaven crap on his chosen.

So far the agreement has been working well.

        • Mys77

You really are lost aren't you? You believe there is a God, supposedly know the bible more than anyone, believe you are in charge of life itself, aren't afraid of death and believe there is no heaven. I got news for you... God is in charge of the world, including yours, and he is giving you time to figure out that you are living on borrowed time and He will ultimately decide your destiny... I find you laughable.... and pathetic and foolish.

        • msallyjones

Hmmmm, you sound like you are threatening me with your religion. That's not very Christian of you, is it?

        • Mys77

As you keep repeating the bible so often when it suits you....you do know there will be a judgement day? And yes, it is Christian of me, to remind you of that....that is my love for even somone who has rejected the salvation of Christ. And only someone who doesn't get that, would think it was threatening. Threatening???? NO Truthful, yes.

        • HBM

So you lie when you call yourself an atheist. If you have an agreement with God, then you accept that He exists. You are just another ineffectual adherent of God's adversary. That explains a lot.

        • larrylunts

Gosh, your understanding of God's will is only exceeded by your understanding of the principles of irony, and satire.

        • larrylunts

Doo dah, doo dah. Oh, wait! I just asked God to award you a winning lottery ticket! Congratulations!

        • ONLYJB1

I really believe there is something you are missing here! What you are missing is the word"You"! Not the word government! Jesus really disliked government! Government and social policy in his day was just what we face today! Jesus did not like the tax collectors! Obviously you have a bible in your reach! Please check into this. The word is YOU! Not government! God has given US his people the responsibility to take care of our own people. Not the fashioned government!

        • msallyjones

You Republicans are keeping the poor and the sick from getting medical care by denying them insurance. It doesn't matter who is providing the insurance or the care. You have voted down taking care of the poor and the sick. Is that enough 'you' s for you?

As to taxes I believe Mark 12:14-17 is instructive
14 They came to him and said, “Teacher, we know that you are a man of integrity. You aren’t swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay the imperial tax[a] to Caesar or not? 15 Should we pay or shouldn’t we?”
But Jesus knew their hypocrisy. “Why are you trying to trap me?” he asked. “Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.” 16 They brought the coin, and he asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?”
          “Caesar’s,” they replied.
17 Then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.”
And they were amazed at him.

Amazed that taxes were OK with Jesus. Just like Republicans. LOL

        • ONLYJB1

Ok! Give to obama what is obama's and that means everything you friggin own. You own nothing! You built nothing! You did absolutely nothing!
You don't remember that speech? You have nothing and deserve nothing more than the street bum! This is what wealth diversity is all about. I want you to go right now! To your local homeless shelter and share everything you have with them! I mean everything, including your friggin underwear!
Now as you stand equal to street bums right there in that room, do you feel like the greatest American Citizen ever? If you do, your a total brain dead, indoctrinated socialist dumbass! This is not America nor is it God's way!

        • msallyjones

I remember that speech quite well. I remember it because Republicans keep deliberately misunderstanding that the POTUS was talking about infrastructure that all businesses depend upon and which the government has built. You can play that the POTUS was saying nobody owns anything but you're just talking in an echo chamber listening to your own rancid voices making incredibly dopy statements (like the above post of yours) The rest of the world understood perfectly well what he was saying. And don't quote god to me. I apparently know a great deal about that subject than you do.

        • ONLYJB1

Continue to PRAISE your dearest leader obama! You make me sick! Continue oh biblical scholar for you are the greatest. B acon S andwich!
No business, D u m b a s s, relies on the government to form or grow! That and every business knows that government will come after them that make it! You are vile! You are evil! You are the problem with this country and her people!
          May God Damn You!

        • msallyjones

May God damn me. Well, now that's right Christian of you. LMAO

        • Mys77

Seriiously..... you can't have it both ways... you can't write what you do, and then be outraged that people curse you? God will deal with you...but you need to take a good look in the mirror, you are being hateful of Christians. And by the way....quoting God and knowing a lot about the subject as you stated above..... if you knew God, or any of his teachings.... you would NOT be a supporter of the liberal agenda... or Obama.

        • msallyjones

          Liberal agenda??

The liberal agenda that provides health insurance for all Americans so everyone gets to see a doctor when they have cancer or appendicitis or cataracts or arthritis or a baby. You mean that Obamacare agenda that conservative Christians are trying to keep from happening?

Or do you mean the liberal agenda that provides food for the kids whose parents have had their jobs outsourced by the job creators. Isn't that the agenda you Christian conservatives just cut by several billion and called the parents free loaders

Tell me, Mys77 what happened to the agenda your God told you to follow: ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

        • Ted Crawford

The old Addage " Don't Look A Gift Horse In The Mouth" Wasn't a recommendation! It was a dire warning!

        • Mys77

Liberal agenda???LOL Lets call it what it really is...the Socialist agenda.... The agenda doesn't provide insurance...the agenda is a tax... the agenda does not provide health care... people do...those conservative, Christain, Republicans..Catholic Hopsitals..they are ones who took care of all the people, including the poor and homeless..The government is not going to be your "caring doctor" or guarantee you health everlasting . The socialist agenda is now envocking God in the picture to DEMAND we do this or else...and the government is now wanting to be like God. And how dare you blast Christians for caring for the poor like they have done for centuries before and still, volunteering their time, their faith, and their "donations" to charities that indeed help the poor....and now having a government say if they don't comply with this tax, they aren't being a Christian!!! I got news for you honey....the government is not my God, and not my church. Sure ironic you quote scripture, but don't abide by it...and even more hypocrtical to not scream..seperation of church and state when a government demands we should give our money to the government so they can play God and give or NOT give to what they choose.??? Get your head out of the clouds.... socialism doesn't work, never has, never will. And this tax, this fantasy you have that this will work is about to burn up in flames. So, zip it..... learn to look at the reality of the world and the lies of ObamaIdon'tcare Sociatist TAX!

        • msallyjones

Controlled socialism works just as well as controlled capitalism. Look at the socialistic countries. Sweden, Norway, Finland, France, England, Germany. They all have better health, education, earnings, satisfaction, economic statistics than the US. They also have longer vacations than US citizens. Maybe that's why they have higher "satisfaction with life" ratings.

And government isn't anyone's god. That's a failed conservative meme. Nobody except the under-educated and intellectually gullible think that.

        • Mys77

Singing the praises of a socialist agenda sweetie...and of course you don't have that starry eyed adoration mindset!!! LOL Why, oh why, don't you get yourself over there then??? Wait in line for a dentist, a cancer screening, a flu shot even.... and of course choose a good doctor, and a really lovely hospital room, and maybe get that surgery if you can wait that long. And in the meantime...the governments are going broke, spending more and more money on entitlements. France is going broke, guess you forgot Spain and Greece???? Talk about the uneducated and gullible....where do you get off spewing these lies....??? Controlled socialism????LOL Whose control??? Can I be in control of your health care???? Oh, please...let me...kind of scary isn't it??? It all seems so fantastic under God Obama and his demonic dominions.. in control of whether you get your medicine or not??? Doesn't seem quite so fair does it??? Fast forward 10 years... and the reality of rationing, and who gets good health care or not....I for one, want this stopped now before we ever come to the reality of a detached, indifferent, power hungry government deciding my personal health care needs! Like most democrats.... they NEVER look down the road, or plan for the future and have a way to pay for things...let alone read what was in the law in the first place!!!! You are really are showing your stupidity with every reply you make!

        • Mys77

You have got to be kidding! You demonic dems quote from the bible like that and think you know what Jesus was for and against... and yet you support the demonic liberal agenda with suppression of our faith, abortion on demand, with doing the homosexuals bidding....among countless others, too many to list. All I can say to you is...get away from me Satan... you do not know Jesus. And by the way, I belong to God, and Obama has NO authority over me. None.

        • msallyjones

LOL Feeling better now that you have that out of your system, Mys77?

        • Mys77

Is that really the only thing you can retort??? Talk about childish....but typical of someone who never can stay on topic, back up their views with facts, and give a legit, common sense response. You make me laugh.... and yeah I have always been better than any hateful, crazy lib....LOL

        • larrylunts

Excuse me, but do you know what channel "Family Guy" reruns are on in Chicago? I only ask this because I'm in town overnight for the styrofoam products convention, and I'm afraid that the hooker ads in the free paper I got when I checked in, might be an attempt to kill me and steal my money, like on that episode of "Law and Order," that I saw.

        • msallyjones

LOL I don't think watching Family Guy is going to save you. LOL

        • larrylunts

Really? But Stewie is so funny! And I can't get over the way that Brian has human intelligence, but still reacts, emotionally, to stuff, like a dog! What's up with that?

        • FreedomFighter66

Anyone who is poor and sick has never been denied healthcare in this country. In fact, the poor receive more services than I can afford even with my health insurance. If they qualify for Medicaid (and you have to be poor) they get free doctors, free hospitals, free dental care (including dentures), free prescriptions and free eyeglasses. Even prisoners get the same. Now I pay two insurances and a separate prescription drug plan and get no dental coverage and no eyeglasses. Guess what! I even pay co-pays. Am I rich? Hardly. Just making ends meet. But sometimes I wish I was poor so I could get free housing, free food stamps, free utilities and free healthcare and a free cell phone. Of course I would also expect free cable TV.

        • Mys77

You just can't be seriously that stupid... Socialism by using health care has nothing to do with "helping" anyone, caring for the poor, or giving better care to everyone.... What Obamidon'tcare TAX is about money, taking power and freedom away from the people. You really are a troll for socialism and control of the masses. So if you like being controlled and told what to do, then go live in one of those countries. Just remember it is NOT going to fly here...and that it is why you are being an annoying, hyper, nut who is seriously in need of a padded cell. Nobody who has an ounce of intelligence is buying the crap you are spouting. And nobody is going to buy Obama's crap either...so flush it.

    • Ted Crawford

Murkowski, and Alexander were to be expected, they, like Christie, are Liberals with latent Progressive tendencies. Graham, Collins,Kirk, and Corker have always leaned Left, not a bad thing usually, in this case fatal! The one who is the most disappointing is Kelley Ayotte! I had come to believe she would soon become a strong Conservative influience, perhaps not.
McCain and Thune, it seems are like Chief Judicial Legislator John Roberts, proof of the effectiveness of the NSA Probes and IRS Intimidations!

      • ONLYJB1

There is no excuse! These individuals should be tarred and feathered and run out of D.C. on a rail! They the pure politician, say what they think we want to hear so as to be re elected! Once there, total different story. Just D.C. politics as usual. I wish I could speak for all Americans, but I can't! But, I believe I can speak for a majority, Ladies and gentlemen, YA'LL ARE FIRED!

        • msallyjones

Sure, that's the way to build a winning party. Toss out the people that don't agree with every little facet of your ideology. And you wonder why you keep losing elections?????

        • ONLYJB1

Every little facet? Are you kidding me, sir? It is time D.C. makes BIG changes! We have a Socialist regime that is attempting to bring ruination to our country. If you can't or don't see this, then dear sir, your are blind! There is a movement in this country that has finally been awakened from a 60 year sleep! The movement sir is the Conservative agenda, which should be referred as the Conservative party. Why? Well, to break away from these D.C. as usual politicians that call themselves Republicans. We Conservatives are done with them and their policies! These turncoat Republicans are nothing but politicians eat up with power, influence and wealth! They fear if not along with the status quo, then they may lose their power. Little do they know, we will make sure come next election time that they suffer their indiscretions!

        • msallyjones

Yeah, keep talking like that and you'll get relegated to the nut bin and your party will never get a chance to change anything. All governing is built on compromise. No compromise no government.

The only way you get to impose your ideology on the US is if you become dictators.

        • ONLYJB1

Nut bin? My party? Why am I a nut? And just who they hell is my party? You just shot yourself in the proverbial foot!

          Compromise? D u m b a s s !
The Congress is asking just that! Your dearest b u tt buddy says no way! So in your estimation where does this put your beloved leader! No compromise no government?

        • msallyjones

Compromise????? Repeal Obamacare, build the XL, drop environmental restrictions, repeal taxes on the 1%. Do all this or we'll bring down the government. That's not compromise that's blackmail and hostage taking.

That's right President Obama has said he will no longer let the government and the American people be held hostage by the Tea Party bomb throwers with are intent on revenge. Never mind that they intend to bring down the economy with the government. Never mind that soldiers won't get paid. They are just angry nut jobs. Yup nut jobs.

        • Carline D. Long Jr.

You are still a damn talking points Troll. Wording their talking points and make no more sense then they do!

        • msallyjones

Hey, I got better talking points than conservatives. I never drag God into the argument as a last resort reference. I got facts. You may not like them but they are still facts.

A statement that says, "If you don't do XXXX then we will do XXXXX." is not an invitation to compromise.

Conservatives can believe that the Republican Representatives are longing for compromise but when you tell the POTUS that you are going to shut down the government unless he repeals the ACA, builds the XL pipeline, cuts TANF and SNAP, ban effluent and emissions restrictions, lower the income taxes on the 1% wealthiest and repeal capital gains taxes, you are not offering to compromise, you are blackmailing.

        • Carline D. Long Jr.

You sure added more talking points than the Republicans did in their bill they most recently sent to the Senate. They wanted to delay ACA one year (which coincides with the one year delay POTUS gave to businesses, which allowed 300 big businesses to drop their employees coverage already with no cost to them. The second was drop the tax on medical devises and that was it, All that other junk needs cut due to fraud used etc but was not in this bill. If you are going to spew, please try to be accurate and not just use dumbocratic jargon talking points and scare tactics.

        • msallyjones

There were more demands than the ones you list. It was quite a laundry list.

It doesn't matter how many things were on the list. When someone says, "Give us these things or else we will do these things" it's called a ransom note. The TP handed Americans a ransom note.

        • larrylunts

Well, anybody who reads this, has no doubts about you being a nut. If you don't believe me, just get some guidance from any mental health professional.

If you have no access to health care until Obamacare kicks in; there are still public mental health services that you might be able to turn to, if you live in some areas of the country.

In most other areas, there are other organizations, like AA, who provide discrete counseling services at no cost. You can usually find AA in any local telephone directory, or by calling directory assistance. Regular AA meetings are available in most cities and even small towns. You don't have to feel alone.

        • msallyjones

Benghazi: A dangerous covert CIA mission, in a dangerous place, during internal unrest, and political turmoil, involving angry armed citizens, carried out by American that knew and understood that the dangers involved included terrorists. Yes, 4 people were killed. It was a tragedy, lives were lost, but it was not a crime or an impeachable offense. You people keep hoping that Benghazi is something unusual, different, something that only this president has ever done. It isn't. every president has had foreign operatives killed during his administration. Keep in mind that 200+ Marines died under Reagan in a terrorist bomb attack on an unprotected barracks. Nobody tried to impeach Reagan.

Quit defending the undefendable. This man (notice I didn't call him President) thinks himself a king that can do whatever he wants with no regard to how this country was designed to run. I think you'd find the list would be very long on those who made great fortunes and turned out to be philanthropists. By the way I am curious as to how anyone gets voted into wealth? Here's a few of those you'd call greedy who didn't get any votes to help them along the way. These 3 were personal friends of mine - John Jackson came from poor farmer background - earned a degree in geology from Univ. of Texas - gave generously to charities, and then left his remaining fortune of over $300 million to establish a Geoscience College at UT, Geo. Mitchell - father a Greek immigrant - worked his way through Texas A&M pressing clothes - built a fortune of over $2 billion - gave hundreds of millions away to charities. E. DeGolyer - father of geophysics. Came from poor Oklahoma farmers in the early 1900s. Worked his way through Okla, Univ. in geology. Founded Amerada Petroleum. I worked for him in the early 50s. He was very generous - gave millions to charities. I became personal friends with all three (they are all deceased), I could list a half-dozen others I know, but they are still alive and several still active in their 80s. None of us were and are greedy oil barons as the media likes to portray us.

I came from a poor family - worked my way through Univ. of TX (1940-43) in engineering & geology. After service in WWII I entered the oil industry as a geologist/petroleum engineer. Over my lifetime I was very successful and gave a great deal of money to charity - most anonymously - church, local charities, individuals, scholarships and endowments. I was a risk taker and succeeded 3 times in making large sums of money - my problem came on the last roll of the dice - I didn't follow the old Western song - You Gotta Know When to Hold 'em and When to Fold 'em! I lost the whole wad in Central Asia and Turkey on two projects. During my active life my four children got excellent educations, always owned a little piece of the companies, and the grandkids got trust funds. Today, my wife I are left with a small income, but the satisfaction of knowing we contributed something that made life better for others.

I think it is sad, that you really don't know anything about how people earn real wealth, or how they use it. How much hard work and risk it takes. How those entrepreneurs feel about their employees coming first in almost every case. I know of times when I could meet the payroll and expenses only. There was nothing left over for me and my family. Lady, you don't have a clue!

What makes you think I am a stranger to working up from poverty to a position of comfort and power. You assume way too much. You also appear to assume that only business people take risks, are responsible for large numbers of people or create anything of value to society. Sounds like an interesting life though in the middle east. I am anxious to visit Turkey. I think we could enjoy a coffee together.

First off- I am not an Obama fan. Now thats out of the way... Who is this poster/blogger trying to fool? Dummest piece of junk I have read in months. Does anyone remember the proposals/plans for obamacare when the idea was originally brought to light? In case you dont- not many thought it could work. There have been alot of adjustments during the hashing out of it. The president as well as others conceeded on many issues. Much compromise has been made: many issues have been thrown at the president during his one major change. He has tried for change in other areas and these so-called compromising republicans have squashed it all. Obama has
made it apprarent that Obamacare will be his victory before his 8 years is up. In making this possible he has had to bend over and take it on many issues and accept changes to his "victory." Him saying that he will not bend over and take it up the *** again on this one just because they want to threaten us with shutdown in a tantrum to once again get their way is not him holding us hostage. It is however the replublicans holding us hostage in an attempt to show obama and others that they aren't as powerful as they think. They are acting like toddlers who refuse to
finish the game because they did not
win. They are simply laying on the
floor kicking and punching in a fit
until daddy comes to give them their way. Its rediculous and makes the majority of us sick. Its sad to come to the realization that the majority of the people in government being paid $160,000-$200,000 a year out of the tax money we citizens averaging $35,000-$60,000 are paying, don't really give a crap about us!
