The 14-Second Nancy Pelosi Sound Bite that Defines Democrats

The TV comedy Hogan’s Heroes was a hit show from 1965 through 1971. Bob Crane starred as Colonel Hogan who coordinated an international crew of Allied World War II prisoners “running a Special Operations group from the camp. Werner Klemperer played Colonel Wilhelm Klink, the incompetent commandant of the camp, and John Banner was the inept sergeant-of-the-guard, Hans Schultz.”

The inspiration for the show came from films like Stalag 17 (1953) and The Great Escape (1963).

Sergeant Schultz used a memorable series of lines anytime he did not know or did not want to know what was going on:

“I hear nothing, I see nothing, I know nothing!” (or, more commonly as the series went on, simply “I see nothing–NOTHING!”).

Nancy Pelosi is the Sgt. Schultz of the United States Congress. Rush Limbaugh gives us the setup:

“Nancy Pelosi goes on The Daily Show, and Jon Stewart is asking her question after question after question, and she says, ‘I don’t know. I don’t know.’ He can’t believe it. Gotta understand, now, to set this up. Pelosi is a goddess to people on the left, and people on the left look at their leftist politicians as the smartest, the most competent, they know everything, they know more than anybody could possibly know.”

Here comes the Nancy Pelosi Sgt. Schultz moment:

PELOSI:  I don’t know. And — the — the — as one —

STEWART:  Oh. (laughing)

PELOSI:  — who worked very hard — no, no, and that’s my question.

STEWART:  Let me get the House minority leader here. I can ask her. Hold on.  (laughter)  Wait.  What do you mean, you don’t know?  How do you not know?

PELOSI:  Well, it’s not my responsibility.

Keep in mind that this is the same Nancy Pelosi who said that the Affordable Care Act had to be passed in order to find out what was in it.

Pelosi’s last comment is the key to understanding the liberal mindset. Liberals pass legislation and then turn it over to bureaucrats. Liberals don’t care if a program works; the goal is to get feel-good legislation passed in order to capture voters for the next election.

It doesn’t matter if a program goes over budget and wrecks the best healthcare system in the world. Liberals will just increase spending. The old adage “the buck stops here” has been turned on its head so it now reads “pass the buck; it’s not my responsibility.”
