The ‘Horrific’ Details Behind Republicans’ Caving

ass-handed-gop1By Joel McDurmon

Most media outlets are not telling the whole story behind the payroll tax-cut extension: most have highlighted the tax cut itself, how House Republicans were blocking the extension, and how they recently caved under pressure, handing Obama a major political victory.

Democrats are celebrating the Republicans’ caving for good reason, because there’s way more to the story than just Republicans blocking tax cuts. The Wall Street Journal reports,

Rank-and-file frustration has existed all year, and never really left even when Boehner tried to accommodate the concerns of his restive freshmen. The payroll-tax cut battle put a fine point on the caucus’s broader concerns about government spending and budget gimmicks, in part because the $33 billion, two-month package is set to be paid for with fees charged by mortgage financiers Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac over 10 years.

“The policy is horrific,” said Rep. Mo Brooks (R., Ala.) He said that “increasing the costs of mortgages hurts homeowners of all incomes,” adding “it’s hard to figure out how the senators could have done worse–all for two months.”

Meanwhile, Boehner’s procedural tactics are just as suspect:

House speaker agreed to pass the two-month extension on Friday morning by unanimous consent, a fast-track procedural maneuver that guarantees passage unless lawmakers book plane tickets and fly back to Washington in time to object.

“Given the late hour of notification, there’s no way I can make it,” said Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R., Kansas). “I’m disappointed. That’s not the process by which I thought we would consider things like this,” he said, adding “this is the kind of stuff that people hate about Washington.”

In other words, Republicans have “caved” by agreeing to increase mortgage fees for 10 years in order to fund a mere two months worth of tiny tax cuts. Instead of taxes being raised January 1, they go up March 1 instead, while the higher mortgage fees endure for a decade. Brilliant. And to score this great political achievement, the House speaker is willing to use Pelosi- and Reid-style procedural tricks to exclude the toughest opposition from the vote. Epic.

And this is why the move is indeed a major political victory for the radical Left: because the Republicans are acting just like them.

It's absolutely amazing how the Democrats can come up with bad ideas and get the Republicans to both pass them and take the blame for them.

And I'd like to get more knowledge about how these tax cuts of Social Security funding hurt the future of that program, on top of the mortgage issues.

IT APPEARS TO ME AT TIMES THAT THE REPUBLICANS, ALL OF THEM, NOT JUST RINOS, ARE DELIBERATELY TRYING TO "THROW THE FIGHT" SO THAT OBAMA WILL BE RE-ELECTED. IT APPEARS THAT THEY'RE WORKING AGAINST THE AMERICAN CITIZENS, WHICH WOULD GUARANTEE OBAMA'S RE-ELECTION.
    WHY IS THIS??

See Bohnoer has to be held accountable. All those unbelievers in government abusing their authority will have to face the Supreme Court of Heaven. Those criminals will have to pay for what they are and have been doing. It is impossible for them to excape Gods wrath. So we do not have to worry about them But will our country fall? Will we be destroyed!? Those evil men will be but not necessarily the whole nation. An invasion of some other foreign powers will try to take us over but will have a tough time. But the government as we know it will be punished. Their crimes are being observed by the Crestor Jesus Christ. This is where the USA is headed if people do not return to Gods word and Gods plan. No amount of Good Statemen can solve the mass of problems being created or already been. Solution? prepare your soul for disaster again and pray for mercy from God for our nation and yourself and family. Obey 1John1:9 and 2Petet 3:18 daily. God
might spare us if enough of us turn to him quick enough. http://www.rbthieme.org. The end of America approaches. Help save our country. Christ is returning even if God saves the nation.

Let them all know that their time to have made a very large difference has come and gone! I send them e mails and call almost daily that the 2012 elections will see the wrath of the legal taxpay8ing, voting citizens. We are fed up and will not accept any more of their lame excuses! THAT is the bottom line! Have a great day and see you at the polls.

Why the surprise? R.I.N.O.'s always cave in because the only principals they follow is "how do I get re-elected?" There will be no change until we, the people, impose:

    1. Balance Budet requirements,

    2. Term limits,

    3. Cutting Congressional staffs in half and having the Congress in session for only 6 months each year starting after the 1st and ending by July 31st,

    4. Reducing Federal salaries, healthcare, and pensions to the same programs and levels as we, the taxpayers. have,

    5. Establish independent, outside of Congress, Ethics Committees for both houses and the White House with the power to send quilty parties to maximum prisions for life,.

    6. Stopping all foreign aid,

7 Tell the UN to go back to Geneva and to reducing our payments to $1 per year to make up for our overpayments in the past,

  • Meribel

    8. Require a 10% per year payback of the national debt which is to come out of Federal, non military, spending,

    9. Require that ALL Federal employees *White Houe, Congress, staffs are held accountable to the same laws as the rest of us–such as insider trading, accepting bribes, and quid pro quo exchanges,

    10. Establish limits what each congressman/woman, governors, and the president can spend on a campaign including All political contributions would be required to be made to an outside audit firm who would allocate the funds as defined..

    11. Reestablishing our borders and sending all illegals home,

    12. Limiting th4e regulations of various government departments to only that what is written into the bills which are approved by Congress. No more "interpretation" of what Congress ment,

See how easy it really is if you have the politcal will, a backbone (eliminates all Republicans), and a love for this country.

I am as mad about this as anyone but how is it a liberal victory that the Republicans allowed them to screw us like they wanted to? It seems to me this looks bad on everyone and more so on those that instigated it….in other words the liberals. Liberals like Pelosi and Reid. Maybe the Republicans caved but they didn't start this B.S. and that is very important even if the liberals would like it to all blur together.

WE need to replace all the establishment Repubs and RINO's in either part of Congress and defeat as many of the liberal Dems. But also what is needed is to destroy and re-establish the organization of the government in DC. I fear that many of the medium to high level positions in all government agencies have been infiltrated and fillled by liberal socialists.
All the government workers will never put up with any REAL budget cuts (their jobs depend upon increased spending)!!
WE need to dismantle many of these agencies and bring the functions they do that is needed back under state or local control.
All of our federal reps need to remain in their districts in their states. They have offices and staff in their local districts. They don't need large offices and staff in DC. If committees need to meet they can do it by computer hookup on the internet. All voting on legislation could also be handled by electronic means(they do it that way now).
If we confined our Congress and Senate to their local offices we would have more control and influence on their actions!!! They might be forced to be more considerate of the people they have been elected to represent.
WE need this in addition to term limits.

This is how the game is played in Washington DC. The corrupt republican establishment will do any kind of trick or deception to make it appear that they are "for the taxpayer", but they had no choice, the just HAD TO CAVE to the wims of the democrat party. This time, it was because they were "out of town", and could do nothing to stop it! LIES, LIES and MORE LIES! These thieves in DC will stop at nothing to continue their way of life, no matter WHO the people elect to represent them. When the Tea Party movement began, they immediately picked 'fake' republican establishment candidates to take advantage of the situation. They played it beautifully! And the Tea Party people took the bait, hook, line and sinker, and gave power back to the corrupt republican establishment, which is no different than the democrat party.

WE THE PEOPLE cannot get discouraged and allow ourselves to be on the defensive. We will rid Congress and the administration of all malcontents; and this has to be a resolution we have to make in all the elections we vote in. Stop thinking that we are alone and few. Talk to friends and neighbors who will listen. Don't let your family and friends/neighbors who espouse liberalism and progressivism stop you from campaigning for the truth and the good of the country. We will win if we work hard at it. For there are many of us who think alike and love our country dearly.
