Occupy LA Protesters About to Pay for Their Actions

occupy-la-after-sunriseFor the past several months, Occupy groups have protested in many cities across the US and Europe.  They staged their protests on public and private property.  In the process, they managed to trash every one of their encampments along with destroying and vandalizing the property and neighboring businesses.

The Occupy protesters wanted to be taken seriously, but failed to realize that their causes were largely disregarded due to their lack of respect they displayed in their actions.  The worse they acted and treated the property that wasn’t their own, the less serious their cause was taken.

In many locations, they cost the city or state millions of dollars in sanitation and maintenance costs as well in law enforcement needs.  Many police had to work extra hours because of the protesters and the many problems they created.  And most of the cities and states affected by them are already facing budget deficits and could ill afford the additional financial load created by the Occupiers.

However, that may be about to change.

Carmen Trutanich, City Attorney for Los Angeles is looking into the possibility of filing a lawsuit against the Occupy LA protesters to recover the more than $2.35 million the city spent as a direct result of the Occupy movement.  The LA police department alone spent around $1.2 million in overtime pay and costs of rounding up and arresting over 300 protesters.

One representative for the Occupy LA group deemed the figures to be outrageous.  Carlos Marroquin said that the city should have been prepared for just this sort of thing by setting aside funds to cover events and protests.  He also accused the city’s use of extra police to be unnecessary as they were a peaceful protest.

Evidently Marroquin forgets the many assault and theft charges that occurred within the Occupy LA camp that warranted police intervention.  He also forgets the garbage left behind that the city workers had to clean up.  He also forgets the damage that was done to the area by the protesters that had to be repaired at city expense.

Ironically, one of the demands of the Occupy movement is that government (city, state and federal), be fiscally responsible and not waste millions of dollars on unnecessary programs and special interests and so on.  So how fiscally responsible would the city be if they didn’t try to recover the costs they incurred by the illegal actions of the Occupy movement which included trespassing and defacing public property?

And how fiscally responsible would the city be if they had budgeted and set aside funds for protests that never took place?  With a budget deficit of over $70 million, LA can ill afford to set money aside for protests that may or may not happen.  Or do the protesters want the city to cancel other programs or perhaps have to lay off employees that desperately need their jobs, in order to put back money for something that may or may not happen?

I for one would love to see the city of Los Angeles go after the Occupiers in their town and hold them financially accountable for their actions.  I think every other city that felt the same financial burden of this movement needs to follow suit as well.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for the right to protest, but the expression of that right needs to be carried out in a legal fashion and those involved need to be responsible for their actions.  That’s holding to the constitutional right to peaceably protest.

I love how these little kids think nothing they do is their fault, and as usual someone else and not them should be held accountable.
This is the sum of the entire protest. "Hold someone else accountable for our actions"
These protesters are nothing but degenerate, losers who want the world to be mommy and daddy to them. Someone else works so they can have food, rent, hot pockets, and big gulps. They should not only be sued, but given shovels, rakes, and any other tool needed to repair the damage they caused

I would tell them pay up or work it off you caused this mess.

That the Unions are subsidizing their members to participate, as well as precipitate actions when required the "Militant" aspects have not been shown yet just demonstrated in the "Occupy" shipping ports. they can disrupt shipping to and from here and the Unions support them and get paid to sit on their assess. They are just waiting for orders to come down I see that coming about September Three months out time enough to halt it all and still warm enough to ship people around the nation for the most part.

Since presiden Obama not only sympathised but also empathised with the Occupies
then each place where the Occupies take place the bill should be sent to Washington for payment for ALL damages and the expenses incurred by the cities.

This could work and if it works there it can be repeated in other places . Folks seem to remember best those things that cost them the most. (You play you pay.) These people like to talk about money. Now let them pay out some and may be they won't be so quick to destroy public property, litter, disturb the peace, destroy private property, and in too numerous to mention here, break laws that can be prosecuted and fined and also cost them jail time with probation and fines later, and a record to cost them any future jobs which they might ( I doubt it) want to work at.

A big part of the problem is the so called media whoose journalsits talked about the Tea Party as if they were corimials and yet glamorizes these people. Perhaps we need a protest against the media, this irresponsible media who cares nothing about the facts that is.

The police officers should have NEVER left these encampments in the first place. I can not believe that local ordinance allowed for no outdoor potties for total of people showing up also that would have been taken up with PERMITS to protest on that public land. I'm sure they have local ordinance to fine me for trash in my yard!!!!! Just like Wisconsin capital being trashed at the end of the day people need to leave and the building locked up. Just another joke by these LOUSY POLITICANS to the taxpayer because you can't get money from individuals who live off of us!!! THESE lousy politicans should have NEVER left this go this far, I do beleive some of them left work to join in maybe you can collect their pay for the clean up

I'm not sure who is more to blame these Occupiers or the LOUSY POLITICIANS supporting and encourgate this as the taxpayers picks up their bills again. As I watched these videos of the occupiers my first impression was about the politicians in office not up holding our laws to protect the taxpaying person!!!! As always they LAUNDER our money for their benefits!!!!! I'm as sick of the politicians that did nothing as well as these looney occupiers.
