America Does NOT Want Change!

no-changeIn the 2008 election, Sen Obama ran on a platform of change.  He promised to change how things were done in Washington and he has lived up to that one promise.

Since taking office, the changes President Obama made were not for the good of Americans, but for the good of Obama and his socialist comrades.  He increases the size of the federal government and the national debt.  He forced a national healthcare program on the people.  He took over the student loan program.  Obama has made more executive orders than any president in history and regularly bypasses Congress, setting himself up as a dictator.

He gave America change and Americans didn’t like it.  In 2010, the people reacted to Obama’s change and elected a wave of conservative Republicans and regained control of the House of Representatives.  They also elected a number of Republican senators, but not quite enough to regain control of the Senate.  A number of states elected Republican governors.

The people made their voice heard that they didn’t like the change that Obama gave them.  They told their new Republican congressional rookies that they wanted them to make changes in Washington and not the kind that Obama was making.

Following the instructions given them by the voters, the new Republican House members stood and made their voices heard.  They resisted following the status quo and fought against the traditional DC dealings such as the federal budget, irresponsibly raising the debt ceiling with no way of paying for it and the abhorrent policy of spending, spending, and more spending.  GOP rookies demanded that cuts in spending had to be made in order to pay for all of these different pieces of legislation.

Everyone kept saying that Social Security is broken and that it can’t financially last much longer, but when the GOP freshman tried to make some changes to save the system, everyone turned on them including the American people, who told them to do just that.  This type of thing happened nearly every time they tried to do what they were told by the voters to do.

The result was a stalemate between them and the established politicians of both parties, but especially the Senate Democrats.  In 2011, we saw one stalemate after another.  The American people became dismayed with not only the liberal politicians that wanted to continue with business as usual, but they also blamed the newly elected representatives for failing to accomplish what they had promised.

It seemed that the people listened to the liberal media that pointed the fingers of blame to those rookies the people sent into the game.  Through the media spin game, the people are now blaming their elected newbies for bringing Congress to a virtual standstill.

Instead of realizing that the GOP rookies were actually doing everything they could to cause change in Washington, the people now blame them for accomplishing nothing and just playing politics.  In reality, it was the Washington business as usual crowd that fought so rigorously against the changes the rookies were trying to make, but alas the rookies were viewed to be as equally at fault as the real culprits.

The fact is that the GOP freshmen class was doing everything in their power to make the changes the people instructed them to make, but when others fought harder against them, the people say they failed.

The same holds true at the state level where Republican governors tried to make the responsible changes within their states that the voters demanded they make.  But when they started to make some of these changes such as cutting spending and controlling the budget, the people rebelled.

Take for instance the recall drive that has been launched against Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.  The voters gave Walker a mandate to reduce the state budget.  Walker began making cuts and implementing legislation to help control the spending.  But when those cuts and controls stepped on the toes of the people, they rebelled and are now trying to remove him from office.

The American people want Washington and their own states to make changes, but only if it doesn’t affect them.  It’s okay to affect someone else, but no, don’t let those changes affect them personally.  But if the lawmakers do make any of the necessary changes that the people mandated and those changes affect them, heaven help that lawmaker’s political career.

In reality, the only change Americans really want are those in theory but not practice, otherwise it might actually affect themselves and heaven forbid they would have to make any sacrifices for the sake of the nation.  That’s for others to do.

    Wow.. GREAT ARTICLE… THANKS!

and some people are afraid of Ron Paul..go figure.

  • Jonathan Gartner

At this point we really could use a change from marxist policy makers like Obama, Nasty Nancy and her friends along with Harry Reid and his ilk. We need the historic great President go back to 1800 and then about every thirty years we get a motivated positive President like Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Abe Lincoln, leading up to Reagan, Ike now it is time for a real American and reality to catch up again and Romney does not have greatness Santorum is a talking head and pro-Union and Paul needs his head examined. Newt is the only one left in this election cycle he is headed for greatness as the only one who could supply it.

    • eliwhit

Newt has Gonads and ain't afraid to show them if necessary!

  • Joyce

Jonathan, NOT!!!! I have a news flash for you: Newt has been part of Washington for well over 30 years, including his time with Freddie Mac when MANY people were warning that Freddie and Fannie were over leveraged and ended up nearly bringing this nation to its knees financially. Was the money he was receiving from Freddie more important to Newt than our nation? Nevertheless, ABO = anybody but Obama.

    • Jonathan Gartner

I guess you have listen either to Romney or Paul. Newt and his company was asked to look at Fannie and Freddie they came out and advised no more money into it and they also told this information to congress please do the research before opening your mouth. Romney is the one to watch out for and Paul needs his head examined

    • Gail

Joyce, Newt was hired to figure out how to save Freddie financially. He told them that if they kept doing what they were doing, the market would crash. He told them to stop giving loans to unqualified buyers. He told them to regulate the market.

They ignored Newt and the market crashed.

You should be thrilled that Newt saw what was coming and spoke against it. You should be appalled that Freddie ignored him.

  • awakenow

Why don't we just do what Ron Paul says and elect people to Congress, and the office of the president, who will actually uphold the Constitution as written? As Paul correctly points out, the reason this country is in such trouble is because the Constitution has continued to be ignored. It is why we now have a hideously huge federal government that uses excessive taxation in order to keep its control over us.

The Constitution was written to get the government out of people's lives, off their backs and out of their wallets. The least government, governs best.

    • Jonathan Gartner

Lets see you also advocate open borders, a foreign policy from hell and drugs legalized. Paul is amoral and his reading of the Constitution is not the ethical and morals that were also given us by the founding fathers.

      • Patriot Diva

Jonathan I've seen your posts all over. I really believe you are an anti-Paul troll. Gees, get out of your mom's basement and get a job.

Billionaire financier George Soros thinks that, if Mitt Romney wins the presidency, there will be "little difference" between him and Barack Obama in the White House.

Soros offered the reassuring news to liberals across Europe during an interview this week in Davos, Switzerland.

As policymakers from Hong Kong to Canada pressed Greece and its creditors to strike a deal to cut the nation’s debt, Soros pressed in on GOP presidential candidate Romney:

"Well, look, either you’ll have an extremist conservative, be it Gingrich or Santorum, in which case I think it will make a big difference which of the two comes in," Soros told Reuters in a videotaped interview.

"If it’s between Obama and Romney, there isn’t all that much difference except for the crowd that they bring with them."

    • Joyce

floyd, USE YOUR COMMON SENSE. Why do you think Soros said that? In one fell swoop he trashed all of the Republican candidates!!! Very clever.

    • Jonathan Gartner

And if you take a look at his record in Mass. Soros is right

      • Joyce

Jonathan, If I look at his record in Mass, I don't see the same things that you do. You have a VERY BIASED view of Romney's record. You "cherry pick" what you want to see. Additionally, remember, as governor he was SUPPOSED to represent the people he was ELECTED to represent, who are largely Democratic. What do YOU think when an elected official goes against what you want? I believe that Romney is one of the most moral people running.

        • Dad

You realy think that? That makes one of us…

    • Patriot Diva

That's about the only thing I'll ever agree with Soros on.

  • scurlee

We need to continue to vote in newbies until the old is completely out, or at least no longer a majority. I don't think most people realized when they voted in the newbies that they only represent a small percentage of those making the decisions. They expected immediate results from an incomplete process. We have to continue to vote for those who will champion change until we have a majority. That is if we really want change. I personally think we are all going to have to promote change and accept our share of its impact if this nation is to continue. As for Scott Walker, I think money and the unions has more to do with that than the people of Wisconsin. I guess we will see if they are still behind him when the vote is complete. Very good article.

  • EyesWideOpen

Ron Paul is the only candidate who represents real change. You can see the reaction to him by the left, the right and the media. They are working hard to marginalize him. He's been the voice in the wilderness for years saying that if we don't strike at the heart of the beast, the federal reserve, there will be NO change. Our system will continue to be controlled by a few billionaire bankers who can work through either party. But ppl are staring to wake up, slowly, a few at a time.

    • Jonathan Gartner

But you only look at one side of his total character. 23 +years in congress nothing done. His foreign policy is silly to say the least. His legalization of drugs again is ridiculous along with every thing else is amoral or fantasy land. He can not run on just currency reform the total package is completely lacking

    • GFM2012

They don't need to work hard to marginalize him; Ron Paul is as marginal as they come. Please go back to sleep.

      • EyesWideOpen

Unfortunately for you gfm and Jonathan, if Paul is not the nominee come November, you are going to be trying to curry my vote. Sorry, napping.

"In reality, the only change Americans really want are those in theory but not practice, otherwise it might actually affect themselves and heaven forbid they would have to make any sacrifices for the sake of the nation."

These two sentences explain the problem in a nutshell. The people get mad enough occasionally to get something done, but just as quickly the status quo media put them back to sleep. The average sentiment is just let me keep watching "Dancing with the Real Desperate Housewives of the Jersey Shore" and let me buy my booze and cigs without too much trouble, and to hell with the rest of America.

This is why, if even by some miracle Ron Paul gets elected, the media will ceaselessly portray him as a failure because it's impossible to fix in four years what it took a hundred years to screw up.

    • Joyce

pepperdotNet, Do you realize that there are approximately 30 bills that have been PASSED by the Republican House waiting on Harry Reid's desk? Reid won't even bring them up for a vote up or down! Contrary to what Obama has been saying, the House has been working very hard. It's the Democrats in the Senate where the hold up is. Check it out.

  • Edwin

Of coarse America wants change! Change for the better not for the worse like what Ovomit is doing!
I believe Ron Paul can give us change and undo all the crap the Ovomit has done!
Ron Paul for President November 2012!!!!!!!

  • Quinton

What saddens me most is that 'the American people' who told the rookies to create change were too stupid to realize the liberal media was spinning the truth yet again. No one in the media was saying it was the fault of the Democrats that created the stalemates.

We as a society need to turn off the TV and start educating ourselves and our children. If you have children in public school, start now. They are the target of the current establishment. Teach them well, teach them to be wary of what they hear in class, especially if its a teacher's personal opinion. Most of them are liberals anyway.

Not a day goes by that I don't try to teach my boys at least one simple conservative principle or value.

  • Dad

One clarification… the majority of Americans ARE making a sacrifice daily. We are still supporting the unions, illegals, deadbeats, and Dems. In other words, No Change.
Joyce… you are right… but when have facts been relevant to liberals?
There is something easy to do that will have an effect. Stop listening to network TV, stop buying liberal publications, don't visit their websites, etc… step on their air hose. They are feeling the effects of the web already. We can affect them… and it is not much of a sacrifice!!!

  • GFM2012

For goodness' sake, will you Paulbots please get it through your heads that this man cannot and will not ever be President of the U.S. No, people aren't slowly "getting it." They would never elect someone who is so utterly clueless about the geopolitical realities of our foreign entanglements. Some of his ideas are good; make him Secretary of the Interior or Education, then he could possibly do some good. But trolling the blogs and ceaselessly posting your blithering Ron Paul bumper stickers isn't helping him or anyone, so kindly just STFU.

    • awakenow

GFM2012, I guess you must also believe that the writers of our Constitution, who wrote that our country should avoid "entangling alliances" with all other countries and instead work to establish free trade, were also "clueless."

I wonder, would you vote for any one of them if they were running for any political office today?

And, please. Try to act like an adult by not using childish language against your fellow posters. It really weakens your argument.

    • Oops

I guess free speech isn't something you value. Too bad you represent many in the Republican party these days.

Not everyone defines the same problems or in the same way. America isn't what it once was. People are less religious. EVERYONE is looking for a free lunch, and that includes investors, bankers, and yes, the unemployed, homeless and poor.
Some change would be good, like free-energy powered automobiles freeing US from the thralldom of fossil fuel and dirty nuclear companies. (But the Federal DOT wants to tag you by the mile, because the Federal Reserve has Uncle so broke, he can't pay for Highways anymore?) …Yes we need to tighten up our porous borders, establish english as the law of the land, bring morality back into our schools (not cross-dressers in classrooms and restrooms, teaching sex to kinder-gardeners.) But neither do I think that giving money to rich people or raising interest rates (rewarding banks for what!!!!) …will bring jobs back, that's the problem with the repuglican "old-boy network;" thanks to GW giving most-favored-nations trading status to China, you get to compete with slaves. Careful what you wish for.
