If you spend any time watching different politicians, you learn to easily recognize those that go around with a bloated ego, kind of like the Pharisees that Christ describes in Matthew 23. These politicians obviously like the sound of their own voice and they refuse to listen to the voice of the people. They flaunt their position, authority, do what they want and act as if everyone else is a lower class of citizen.
When I look at the Washington crowd, I see egotistic politicians on both sides of isle. On the Democratic side, you have the president who often can be seen with his nose in the air like a pompous member of a royal family. There have been a number of reports that support this notion of snobbishness in the way he treats the White House staff and ‘servants’ along with the Secret Service assigned to protect him and the members of the military who have the doleful duty to watch over him and provide him with transportation.
The next most egotistical manic in Washington has to be Nancy Pelosi. She flaunts her disdain for the common folk so openly that she seems to be the only person in her own category of aristocracy. Every time I see her make a public announcement, I can’t help but look to see where she parked her broom next to the podium.
Following in line are Harry Reid, Maxine Waters, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Chuck Schumer and Charles Rangel.
On the Republican side, I have to start with House Speaker John Boehner and then I would add Jim DeMint, Orrin Hatch, John McCain, Rob Portman, Marco Rubio, Steve Chabot and Eric Cantor. They act no different than the Democrats listed above.
Now I direct my attention to the four remaining Republican presidential candidates: Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum. Of these four, I have to place Mitt Romney right up there with Barack Obama.
Romney struts around like the only rooster in a hen house and he crows like the rooster does in announcing his own presence when he enters a room. And like most people that think so highly of themselves, Romney turns and accuses President Obama of being arrogant when he told an audience at this weekend’s CPAC,
“Barack Obama is the poster child for the arrogance of government.”
While I agree with Romney’s characterization of Obama, I would highly recommend that he takes Jesus’ words in Matt. 7:3-4 to heart,
“Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye?”
