$.5 M Stimulus Money Spent on Ads for Green Jobs With Zero Jobs Created

In 2009, the Labor Department hired McNeely Pigott & Fox Public Relations LLC to create and run commercials to make employers aware of the Job Corps programs to help generate new jobs in the green industry.  The ads aired the MSNBC shows of Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann at a total cost of $495,000 of stimulus money.

According to Taxpayers Protection Alliance president David Williams, the ads, which ran fourteen times a week for two months resulted in zero jobs.  Williams commented on the questionable program:

“Hiring a PR firm does not create jobs, and this was obviously meant for selling a particular political agenda.  The placement really reeks of a political ad rather than a job ad, and taxpayers see through this.”

“Taxpayers would be a lot happier at the end of the day to see a completed road rather than a bunch of ads on cable television.”

Spokespersons for the Labor Department defended the spending of stimulus money on the ads saying that their studies showed that the ads aired on those programs should have reached their demographic target of business owners and managers.  They had considered running the ads on other shows such as Larry King, but their research indicated the ads would be twice as effective on the MSNBC shows than on Larry King’s show.

That’s really interesting since the results of the ads running on the two MSNBC shows are zero.  That means they would have been half of zero if run on Larry King, and half of zero is still zero.

President Obama promised the nation that he would create 3.5 million jobs by signing the stimulus bill in Feb. 2009.  Three years later, we find out that the stimulus bill didn’t create nearly as many jobs as the president promised and that millions of dollars of stimulus money actually ended up going to overseas firms instead of creating jobs here in the U.S.

In reality, Barack Obama has nearly bankrupted our nation and instead of creating millions of jobs as he has promised, he has done more to kill jobs than create them.

And then he wants to raise taxes on the only people in America that could possibly afford to create new jobs and increase hiring.  That makes as much sense as trying to drive a car forward with the transmission in reverse.

Everywhere we look at Obama’s record, we see one failed attempt after another and it’s all at our expense.  The only place Obama has been successful at creating jobs is in the federal government, which is the last place it was needed.

Had Obama been running a real business the same way he has run the country, it would have been forced to close its doors shortly after it opened.  What’s worse is that just may be what happens to us if we don’t get a successful businessman into office as soon as possible.
