Obamacare’s Medicaid Like Giving Discounted Tickets on the Titanic

Just a few days ago, I wrote about a survey that said 8 of every 10 doctors in private practice were thinking of leaving those practices because of Obamacare.  In that survey, it reported that 49% of the doctors said they were going to stop accepting Medicaid patients.

Another survey was conducted by GEB International Inc. of female voters.  Of the 800 women surveyed, Republicans made up 31%, Democrats 45% and Independents 21%.  With a greater number of women identifying themselves as Democrats over Republicans, I was surprised by some of the results of this survey which indicated that a significant percentage of women voters wanted Obamacare repealed.  What made this surprising is that this included many of the women who identified themselves as Democrats.  A few of the survey results were:

“Healthcare remains a significant issue in the November election. Fully 14 percent of the survey sample – one in seven voters – said healthcare would be “the single most important issue when deciding how you will vote for President in November;” responding to a separate question, 36 percent said the Affordable Care Act will be either the “most important issue” or “one of the most important issues” determining their November vote. In fact, health care was one of only three issues to break the 10-percent threshold, following “the economy” and “creating jobs.”

“A significant majority still wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act either in whole or in part. When asked, “Thinking about the nation as a whole, do you think we are better off with the Affordable Care Act in place as it is, should we repeal parts of it, or should we repeal all of it and start over again?” 38 percent wanted to keep the ACA as is, and 56 percent want to repeal all or parts of it. Only 28 percent of Independents want to keep it as is; 63 percent want to see it repealed in whole or in part.”

“Two key drivers for those wanting repeal are the belief that requiring Americans to purchase a product they might otherwise choose to forego is “un-American,” and the understanding that the ACA puts bureaucrats between patients and their doctors. Fully 25 percent of Independents and 25 percent of those who were undecided on the ballot test listed the “un-American” nature of the Individual Mandate as their top reason to oppose the ACA; 23 percent of those who were undecided on the ballot and 20 percent of Independents listed putting bureaucrats between patients and their doctors as their top reason to oppose the ACA.”

Now the Christian Medical Association is reporting similar views on Obamacare and Medicaid as were reported in the previous survey.  According to CMA’s CEO Dr. David Stevens:

"If it's costing you money out of your own pocket, out of your own practice every time you see a Medicaid patient, increasingly doctors are going to drop out of it.  That's what happened in Texas. It's gone from 67 percent of doctors accepting Medicaid in the year 2000 to 31 percent this year. So that's an enormous problem."

"We missed what we should have been shooting for.  What we did was give discounted tickets on the Titanic to people as it heads towards the ice flow of uncontrollable healthcare costs. We've got to address that issue."

Dr. Stevens commented in response to Texas Governor Rick Perry’s announcement that Texas will join Louisiana, Florida and Wisconsin in opting not to implement the Medicaid expansion laid out in Obamacare.

On the national news yesterday morning, I saw an interview with President Obama and he said that he has been spending more time travelling America and listening to the people, their needs and desires.  Evidently he’s only listening to a minority of people who worship him as some sort of social savior because virtually every report that has come out before and since the U.S. Supreme Court ruling to keep Obamacare, the major of Americans want it repealed.

Obama’s still not listening to Americans.  Doctors don’t like Obamacare.  Insurance companies don’t like Obamacare.  The majority of women voters don’t want Obamacare.  The majority of Americans in general don’t want Obamacare.  He’s still doing what he wants to do regardless of what the masses of us peons say.  Perhaps it’s time for us peons to start peeing on Obamacare and the White House and send our fowl message of disapproval to his royal arrogance.

Repeal and Replace this piece of crap. I don't blame doctors for not taking new patients on Medicaid and I can understand doctors getting out of practice all together. This disasterous piece on one sided, shove it down you throat legislation is costing us now three times as much as they said it would and the elderly don't have a chance of getting the care they need plus you may have to wait months to get the care you need. REPEAL AND REPLACE NOW!

Exactly, If the over 75's get a debilitating illness they'll be told they're out of luck.
Just as in Europe, folks will have to wait months for office appointments and wait years for needed surgeries after you get put on a list.

      • TheGizmo51

How long do members of congress wait for a doctor's appointment? You are telling me that they are better than you and me. How about everyone has the same coverage?

        • smartgranny55

Members of congress have a health insurance policy that taxpayers pay for. It is the platinum of health care policies. Who is going to pay for health care for everyone. If you are working, you will. Then you can stand in long lines with your sick, crying child or watch grandma suffer cuz there isn't a MD to care for her. Doctors are quitting or retiring cuz they don't get paid what is costs to see welfare patients. It costs more to fill a cavity than medicaid pays, so dentists don't take on MA patients.

wait a minute... is obozo receiving a retirement ck for his little stint as a representative???? i hope not!

        • smartgranny55

Don't know. But, he has the best medical care known to man available to him and his immediate family.

        • Doodlebug

We're not telling you that they are better than you and me, THEY ARE TELLING us that. If I understand it correctly, they CAN take the same coverage as us but, I bet THEY WON'T!

    • Steven

Repeal. Don't worry about replace. The BEST think the government can do is repeal MORE than just Obamacare. Prior government interference is the PRIMARY cause of the problem they claim they are trying to fix.

  • TheGizmo51

Who said "history repeats itself"? I don't know but I do know that just
as the Nazi Germans marched the goosestep in unison destroying
everything that got in their way, the republinos are marching the vote
in unison destroying everything that gets in their way. Just as the
Germans followed one mind the republinos follow one mind. I urge
caution and that we fight to avoid America becoming just another example
    of "history repeating itself".

It is not conservatives who are following the pied piper of Germany or of any other socialist or communist leader.

How could one person be so blind as to what is going on here. I cannot believe you TheGizmo51. You have got to be kidding me. I say to you, it is time for you to widen your horizons and get some new friends. There is a whole world out there you know nothing about. You are caught up in your own little sphere of existence and you haven't a clue as to what truth is. Who has brain washed you? Why are you allowing yourself to be brainwashed? Goodness me, it is the Republicans who are trying to stop the march to disaster. That is why they have to say "no" so often. And who are you following if it is not "one mind". Tell me now, who and or what are you following? I want an answer.. And who is this "one mind" the Republicans are following? If you actually believe what you say you are so uninformed it borders on ignorance. Pleas for your own sake as well as the sake of the future of this country put effort into getting yourself educated about this country and how it has suffered, an is currently suffering under our sitting president.

How could one person be so blind as to what is going on here

There is none so blind as he who WILL NOT see. It is an actual CHOICE.

If this pos garbage is NOT repealed, the Docs that think they will not accept MEDICAID, MEDICARE, will have a rude awakening, if the mongrel gets another 4, you can bet on it, this freak will do an exe order, that demands Doctors HAVE TO ACCEPT ANYONE!!!. IF THEY THINK THEY WANT TO QUITE, THIS GARBAGE WILL COME UP WITH AN OFFER THEY CAN'T REFUSE.......... For all we know it may be well hidden this pos bill NOW..........NOT worry this mongrel dog has all corners NAILED DOWN..............so we better get rid of IT in November.

    • Sandra Schools

Don't count on it - Obama is not that caring when it is about keeping old people around too long, just as he is not all that caring about bringing babies into this world. But you are right about the corners being nailed down. He sees himself as a god who will control us from corner to corner and the nearer the corner we get, trying to escape, the smaller we get and the more domineering he becomes.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/4ENB63ODGUC7YAF5EKZLEAWIAE Mary

What a bonus it would be for the Progressives to get rid of 1/2 the Conservative voting base by denying health care to the over-the-hill-elderly.

        • Sandra Schools

You are absolutely right Mary - He is not going to give any edict to help out the elderly. He will only give an edict to bury them. It would be totally against his person to give such a verdict as BillyD says. I held back on this before, but may I suggest that I can see right through BillyD as well. You draw the conclusion.

    • Steven

Doctors will still quit. ANY offer can be refused when accepting the offer is worse than death.

    • smartgranny55

It has gotten harder to recruit the most intelligent into medicine. Thanks obummercare.

Here is the secret the government lost track of , No Doctors, no service, You have coverage but no where to go but to a hospital. Take a number and die in the waiting room.

At least, the Titanic had a band.

    • Steven

At least we didn't KNOW before the Titanic sailed that it would sink. Obamacare doesn't have to hit an iceberg. The gaping hole is in the blueprints.

  • Sutekh

Obamacare is like the Stephen King movie "Thinner." The gypsy takes the curse off the protagonist by putting it into a pie, and telling him that now he will get better, but that someone else has to eat the pie, or the curse will come return.
Have some strawberry flavored Obamacare, folks. It'll surely cure what ails Obama. The low self-esteem he has due to the circumstances of his birth, his foreign education and background, and his lack of any legitimate accomplishment has to be atoned for by making us all suffer and die.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/4ENB63ODGUC7YAF5EKZLEAWIAE Mary

The baby boomers who are getting up there in age and other seniors better think long & hard about giving their vote to Obama. For years they misappropriated social security and used it for other purposes. Now the chickens are coming home to roost and they're panicking about the big payout as all the baby boomers are coming into the home stretch.
So what's the best way to deal with the crisis? Withhold medical treatment for the elderly and retire them to the big glue factory in the sky.

    • JohnC

absolutely, do I hear Death panels..."It's not cost effective to treat the chronically Ill Elderly " so take a number maybe we will get to you in about 3 or 4 years.."We need to treat only those patients that it is economically feasible to treat" in other words if your over 65 go somewhere and die... you will do us all a favor and save the money for someone who would benefit more from treatments...

However, the per person monthly Medicare insurance premium will be
      increased from the 2009 premium of $96.40 to $104.20 in 2010, $120.20
for the year 2011 and yearly increases will step up to $247 in 2014.

      • exshuttleguy

The wife and I went on Medicare part B in 2010, we also started supplemental at the same time. The wife was 69 and I was 73 when we signed up for them. In 2011 our supplemental insurance increased 8% and this year it increased by 20%. Last year we paid into both plans more than they paid out. I know that almost any kind of insurance (home, auto, etc.), you pay into, you seldom get back more than you pay in. It's just that most outher insurances don't increase at the rate that our health insurance is doing.

  • Joanne

I agree people who never used the ER will now be using it, this OBAMACARE should be called NIGHTMARE, what's the good of giving everyone insure if we have don't have the doctors? Why didn't the physicians speak up when the dems were shoving this down our throats? The Narcissist-in-chief didn't listen then and he's not listening now because this doesn't affect him, his kids won't be in the ER, will they?

  • Raymond

    Obamacare

Let me get this straight. We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it but exempts themselves from it, signed by a president who also smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke.

    What could possibly go wrong?

    • Vickie

Please quit calling it Obamacare... It is Obama I Don't Care Health Tax. I don't feel cared for... I feel repressed, tagged like a dog, looked at as a number not an American Citizen. And honestly Medicine is NONE of the governments business. Where is my privacy??? You know those documents we all sign saying all medical files are to remain private??? I would like to take this tax and shove it, and shove it hard... you know what I mean? This is what I think..... and I am not alone where I am from.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/4ENB63ODGUC7YAF5EKZLEAWIAE Mary

You will be tagged as a dog. I believe at some point in the stupid bill we have to get chipped. "The mark of the beast." It's playing out just like the book of revelation.
I hope he's not the anti-Christ or the agent there of.

Would it be a great humanitarian gesture if our brother and sister Americans who cant afford to see a doctor could afford to see one.

    • Vickie

Why don't you do the humane gester yourself and take out an insurance policy for a brother or sister American who can't aford it? Make it one of your personal goals to help someone in need.

If Obamacare goes into effect it will solve our immigration problem ie. who would want to immigrate to the USA which will have an abominable and unworkable system of health care and will be no better off than most 3rd world socialist countries. we might even experience an emigration problem as people bail out of the USA!
