“Austerity Measures” To Begin in Ohio Next Year

Obama supporters vowed to riot in the streets and murder Romney if he won the election mostly because they believed he would take away their food stamps. Now that Obama has been re-elected, his administration is doing the very thing his supporters went ballistic thinking Romney would do. The USDA plans on cutting food stamp benefits by about $50 per month, per household recipient in Ohio. ToledoBlade.com reported:

The average food-stamp recipient receives $138 per person, per month, according to state statistics. As of August, more than 1.7 million individual Ohioans, or about 869,000 families, received the assistance. A total of $3 billion in benefits was issued in 2011 in Ohio; the program is federally funded… Because of the way the federal government calculates utility expenses for people receiving the benefit, a mild winter nationwide last year, and a lower price for natural gas, many families could experience a significant cut in aid.

This isn’t Ohio’s doing; it’s the USDA that’s making Ohio cut their benefits. Ohio’s Department of Job and Family Services administers the food stamp program, and they appealed the USDA’s decision, but the USDA denied their request. These cuts would result in an annual cut of $520 million for Ohioans below the poverty line.

So get ready next year to start seeing food stamp riots because people’s benefits are being cut. This is just what happens when the government tries to take care of people from cradle to grave. It doesn’t work. I understand that there are people out there who are elderly and/or disabled who have worked as much as they could throughout their lives but are in real need of assistance. Just because there are people that truly need financial assistance doesn’t mean that the government is the place to get it.

If you found out your employer was trillions of dollars in debt, wouldn’t you want to find a different job where the company you worked for was financially solvent? The government is over $16 trillion in debt. Is it at all surprising that at some point, they were going to have to start cutting welfare programs? Our government is bankrupt. They have no business claiming they can help the poor when they’re flat out broke themselves.

Historically, churches helped those in need. Hospitals and orphanages used to be largely run by churches. Some are still able to help the poor through various charitable organizations, but it’s becoming harder and harder the more the State takes over. People helping the poor through voluntary means was far more effective than any government program because these people truly wanted to help. The State just wants to control people through the redistribution of wealth. Ever since the State has taken over in “providing for the poor,” poverty has skyrocketed, and come January, the poor will get a little bit poorer.

The article stated "As of August, more than 1.7 million individual Ohioans, or about 869,000 families, received the assistance.

It is not "assistance", it is a way of life for many of the recipients.

And don't worry, the recipients will scream bloody murder and the USDA will give in.

    • Hank

And we wonder why Ohio voted for Obama. Another example of why people on government subsidies should not be allowed to vote.

      • DontTreadOnMe11

When unemployment/jobs figures came out today, OH and PA were hit the hardest. Just rewards for them.

        • Riverdweller

My county here in PA. voted about 90% for Romney. But, our poor conservatives here have to suffer for the high density CITY voters who tipped the State for Zero..(I don't care about the liberal ones).
Not to mention some shenanigans with some of the voting machines in several Philadelphia districts. NO ONE EVER gets 100% of the vote in any district let alone about 50 of them.

      • ShodanOldSchoolJudoka

The "election" was rife with vote stealing from the muzzie on the down low. Look it up, I beg you. It was brash, so bold, it was simply obscene how it was done. And none of the liberal fool Press cared.

trust me NOT ALL OHIO VOTED FOR HIM.... I WAS ROMNEY ALL THE WAY. THE OHIO POLLS WERE FIXED!

When one person voluntarily helps another, it fosters compassion on one side and gratitude on the other. When the government creates a program, funded by taxation, to provide financial assistance, it creates resentment on both sides. Worse yet, the larger the government programs grow, the more they drive out genuine charity.

My disgust with churches is greater than it is with the government. Christians should know better. Where God guides, God provides, and those willing to do His will will have the provisions to carry it out.

As a committed Christian I am well aware of Christ's admonitions to his followers to help the orphan, widow, poor, homeless, naked, hungry, those in bonds, etc. and our churches are NOT doing what they've been commanded to do.

All too many are more concerned with filling their coffers, building huge telecommunications systems, and constructing opulent edifices with padded pews....and all while claiming to worship the ONE who dwells in temples NOT made with hands. Jesus made of Himself NO reputation, yet Christianity today is obsessed with it.

The church is MIA and it's shameful.

    • Doodlebug

Please don't lump all Christians into one group. Our works in many different ways to help those in REAL need. We regularly work at the Rescue Mission, go to 3-4 times a year to Quadamala to minister to the sick, sending our one doctor to do surgery if necessary, giving 25 complete Thanksgiving meals to the Salvation Army to distribute, help the bell ringers for the Salvation Army at Christmas, make up another 25-30 bags of towels, soap, toothpaste and other daily needs for the Woman's Center for battered women support 2 missionaries in other war torn countries, plus collections for various other projects for those in need. I don't know where you go to church but mine an Evangelical church is VERY active in helping others in need many times a year.

      • Screeminmeeme

Doodle....Glad to hear it. My church also. My remarks weren't meant as a blanket condemnation of all churches, but I believe many are not doing what they could and should to help those in need. The seduction of money and popularity tho has driven many preachers/pastors to fleshly pursuits.

        • ShodanOldSchoolJudoka

Now that I agree with 100%. I didn't know that mansions, sports cars, Rolex watches, or Armani suits were critical to the preaching of the Gospel. "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

        • Emily Brobst

As for abortion, in every church I believe there could be at least one family who would gladly take in an unwanted baby to raise as their own. I don't see that happening. World-wide, people are DYING for what they know to be true, which is Jesus Christ and the gospel of the kingdom.. They are true Christians, but what are we? Soft, lazy, self-absorbed, mostly.

    • sassafrass

If you think the church is shameful, perhaps you are going to the wrong church. I am a Christian in a small town. I attend a church that is mission minded. Although our congregation is small, about 1/3 of our budget goes to to missions, help the poor etc. In addition to the percentage of our receipts from tithes, we take special offering to help the needy, and people in hard hit areas such as hurricane relief, flood relief etc. We do not have a huge telecommunication system, or a television station, our service is not even on the radio. Before you go state the church is shameful, maybe you need to look around and see what the churches that are not in the "mega church" catagory are doing.

      • Screeminmeeme

sassafrass...I'm happy to hear it. I just wish more churches were like yours and mine and Doodles. I was hoping to draw responses like yours. It gives me hope.

    • teajue

How can you be a democrate and then say you are a Christian? When you support a party of abortions, gays and anything that is against GOD? The Catholic church should be ashamed. They did not listen to GOD or the pope. So are they really Christians?????????????? The devil is in the churches.

      • Screeminmeeme

teajue.......Do you have a problem with reading comprehension or are you just nuts?

I never said I was a democrat. Anyone reading my posts knows I'm a Christian conservative Republican and that I'm a fierce opponent of abortion and the gay rights movement.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Larry-Viles/100000555613715 Larry Viles

The churches are MIA because the churchgoers are MIA. Here in Knoxville, Tennessee, a church a week closes it's doors. Our church used to have 300+ every Sunday. Now we have 30- something. There aren't enough churchgoers now to take over for the government. And it isn't going to get any better. Over 30% of people under 30 list their religion as "none". Most churches re struggling just to keep the doors open. Still, we do what we can.

    • ShodanOldSchoolJudoka

I agree with you up to a point. Remember what Paul wrote: "if a man SHALL NOT work, he SHALL NOT eat." Those that are career welfare gimmes deserve NOTHING. I will never help any of those people. I will, however, help the career man or woman who lost their job, or the elderly person who used to contribute to this country, but needs help now for some reason. Or even the person that realizes they need to turn their life around and become productive. No problem.

All the obama-ites who don't give a damn about making something of themselves, except brood sows and stud bulls, can go get a job, ANY job, or starve. Their choice.

  • GetOutOfTheBubble

Do I have to show you links? Because this is literally true. It may not be representative of most of Obama's supporters, but there were people saying these exact things.

It is true. As usual uninformed criticism.

    • Marta

It look like you really are in the bubble. I have a feeling that the bubble will burst sooner or later.....even for you. Typical dem. denying the facts even when they are in front of their faces in black and white. Disgusting.

      • KarenWI

A friend working for the liberal state of WI recently said, why didn't anyone tell me I had a big whopin' bugger hanging out of my nose? I replied, Liberals can't see the truth if it's right in front of their face so don't expect anyone working at the state to notice.....he said 'great answer'.

    • ddt

too bad it cannot be reversed

      • axmickl

It can be reversed. All the republicans have to do is press for investigations into all the voting fraud. The dems stole enough votes to win just like they knew they would just where they knew they would. If they let these criminals get away with this there is never going to be a better time to stop them.

        • Floridastorm

I sympathize and agree with you 100%. The problem is where do the investigations head? Once the facts are known and cases can be made who will hear those cases? You got it. Leftist judges or judges that will be intimidated by the Obama thugs. I have no idea whether jury trials could be requested or not. I guess it would depend on what state the cases were heard. One good thing about fraud cases is that they are felonies. Which means that witnesses can be called, etc. Members of the administration could be called as witnesses. Hearing them lie on the stand would be worth the admission price.

        • Maj John

          They wouldn't show up!

        • axmickl

I absolutely agree with you on your assessment of the republican leadership. The concerned and conservatives in this country need a new party to rally around but i fear it is too late.

        • mamaj

None of them have the courage to stand up and demand fairness. The Liberals/Democrats/Media have fine tuned the battle cry that all conservatives are evil - it is to the point where one can't even disagree in a civilized manner. Most of the elected Republicans like the Democrats are life long politicians they go with the flow because they don't want to look for a job.

    • usamerican

Also was against Romney because he was against same sex marriages and abortion. Obama has now stated that he ISNT for same sex marriages. He will probably come around and said he isnt for abortions too. Why would anyone think that since he has lied since he first put his name in the hat to run for the office of president in 2007 - would he start magically start telling the truth. He is a liar, he is a muslim, he hates america, he will do anything (voter fraud) and say anything (above mentioned) to win this election. He has an agenda - socialism.............plain and simple. The sooner liberals start believing this - the sooner we can get this nation back on track. Romney was a smart businessman that save 100's of companies from going bankrupt - you can see just how mature obama and the news media are - when they nuttied up over big bird- cutting funds to PBS a company that makes millions a year - YET they were getting government money - Romney could have made this once again a great prosperous nation - now we have 4 more years of broken promises - actually they were lies from the get go. Romney has been described as a visionary - what shall we call obama?

      • usamerican

I was answering a question and made it sound like I was against Romney - I was most definitey FOR him ALL THE WAY.

      • teajue

        A liar and a destroyer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • usamerican

Read in today's paper that Ohio is cutting their food stamp program by $50 a person each month. Another thing folks were against that Romney said he was going to start doing - people the money has to come from somewhere - are you just thick headed as my dad would say or just dont have a lick of common sense. This country has to be run just like you do your household - you dont waste or spend money on programs that arent needed., Everyone carries their load of responsibility. Cant tell you the people that say they are getting free healthcare next year. Like I tried to tell so many - it will be available to everyone - it isnt free by a long shot. Just signed up for my insurance for next year and it increased 40 per month more than last year. Free - indeed NOT.

    • KarenWI

Yup, I saw tons of tweets threatening Mitt Romney's life - 100's if not 1000's and wonder why the secret service did not investigate? What is written here is true.

These users are so into their right to use others and the system they just can't comprehend that eventually they'll be cut off. The universe is made up of the law of cause and effect (karma). They are poor to begin with because of their karma (whatever that may be but usually it's a lack of love in this or other lifetimes). They aren't giving anything in return for their supply and it just doesn't continue forever. Also, spreading the wealth doesn't work either because after it's all spread around, where will it come from then? This philosophy creates destruction and death. The doers will not want to give anymore and they will become the takers. This system does not work contrary to what the believers believe. The elite/government officials will have all the great wealth and the rest of us will be poor. Good heavens, what will it take for these people to wake to reality? I just don't know anymore! and the media is the government's helpers to bring this destruction to the once greatest nation on earth. HELP!!!!!!

I think we all need to start harassing our senators and congressmen to tears to cut ALL their own benefits before the disabled and elderly that have WORKED for most of their working lives. Let the politicians live off the same fat, or lean, the citizens do and these messes will start getting cleaned up. No pensions, no health care after leaving office, and no Special Service protection. When did these crooks become kings anyway? Start voting for representatives that actually REPRESENT their constituents - as opposed to themselves.

I agree with you 100%. Let's do it!

More of the same news that frustrate individuals.

  • Undettered

Just did a Google search on "Traditional Ohio Foods" and it turned up 9,182,033 in .28 seconds for baklava, horta vrasta, pastitsio and saganaki.

Thinking about this, these "austerity measures" were all ready in the works, long before the election began. If Mitt Romney had won the Liberal Brain Dead Media would be running the story every hour about how Romney had cut "benefits" (Aren't benefits something you actually earn?) until there would have been riots in the streets. It would all be the Conservatives fault. Call it an emergency blow back plan in case the Chosen One was un-chosen. Since Obama was re-selected, and if the food riots will start, it will give the Administration "just cause" to implement some sort of "social control". Basically people feeling like they are going hungry (real hunger happens in places like Africa and Oaxaca Mexico) is a win win for Lib-Progie-Democrats.

Give a man a fish, and you make him your slave. Teach a man to fish and you set him free.

Wait until they get the bill for Obamacare, remember there are no free lunches. Ayone who believed Obamacare mess was good is just plain stupid.

  • bobalo59

Another group thrown under the Owevomit bus. When are you idiots going to learn? Its too late with this traitor, but if we have other presidential elections, please don't vote for someone becauses they're black. We see how well that worked out for us. Hes thrown every group that has worked for his re-election away, just like Sandy did to the trash in NY,Face it, you people that voted for him got suckered. Now you look like a bunch of freaking morons

  • STAND FOR FREEDOM

Romney is a good man who offered America a gift, a wealth of ideas to bring jobs back, to
improve the economy, to work with Democrats on many issues. America lost that chance. Now, there are seven monsters ready to ravage the US economy and take America down:

    (1) The DOW
has ALREADY dropped 700 points since the reelection of Obama; watch your 401k

    (2) Obama
and Reid won’t negotiate with Republicans on taxes so gridlock will cause Americans
    tax hikes next year.

    (3) Higher
taxes and Obamacare will cause businesses to lay off or reduce their employees; that is already happening. The unemployment rate will skyrocket and more Americans will be on food stamps, unemployment insurance, and welfare.

    (4) Part of
the 12 million illegal immigrants in the US will also be entitled to government taxpayer benefits; Americans pick up the tab.

    (5) Unless
businesses go bankrupt, businesses will also raise their prices on goods and services passing their Obama taxes to the consumer, YOU. All other businesses will do the same. Your Obama check will have LESS purchasing power and inflation will hurt the poor and middle class.

    (6) Since
all unions opted out of Obamacare, less people will be paying into Obamacare than people freeloading from it. This will cause VERY LONG waiting times for serious illnesses and surgeries. Doctors won’t cope with the incoming masses, many people unable to get care will die.

    (7) Obama
will increase the national debt by $1.5T each year thus worsening the economy further.

Good! Ohio the State I was born in and used to love gets what it deserves. I hope this is just the start. Selling my home and moving to Idaho. Waited too long now I'll have to pay the 3% tax on home sells that we got with Obama care.

  • The Mutt

Yep the minions in Oh. will riot now if we can get cuts here in Indiana, let them riot I need target practice!

  • Tom

I truly believe that "natural consequences" need to be experienced before people can learn from their mistakes. But at some point, those who believe in individual responsibilities, liberties and freedom, must also remember the importance and responsibility of charity and reach out to those who want a hand up and not a hand out. It is all going to collapse in the near future to some degree. Greece? Wiemar Republic? Argentina? If we do not step in with our solutions, others will step in with the "final solution"...

NY and NJ are suffering but yet our taxpaying money is going

Obama takes action on 'unreliable' power grid – in Pakistan!

Take this thefting ditator out of here now...He is trying to ruin us and build up other countries with our money.

  • ste1021

Maybe you won't be getting as much "free stuff" now that the election is over and of course there's no money to pay for it anyway.

  • evantoo

"Historically, churches helped those in need." Waste of time making a comment like that. FACTUAL history hasn't been taught in public schools for decades. As well, the government has made religion and churches anathema to their socialist agenda. When I grew up it was the church and the community that helped my family out. Today they stand clear so as to not attract the Liberal government's ire.
To throw all the people off of assistance programs would be a problem.. but only for awhile since the churches and SOME in the community would take up and supply the needy. Problem is, the government would step in and regulate the suppliers into obscurity, which is what they did before.
Makes one wonder about the mentality of the career welfare families since when the well starts to run dry.. they will be the first to know it.

  • John Civick

So what's new? They voted for Obama and they voted for change and this is what they are going to get among other things. It's time some of the able-bodied males got out and obtained a job and quit relying on the state or federal government to provide them essentials. Nowhere in our Constitution does it state that those who don't or won't work are entitled to a stipend.

  • djw663

Ain't life a "female dog." But we didn't see this coming according to the left, LMAO. It's not funny but it is all at the same time.

  • ShodanOldSchoolJudoka

I wouldn't give 95% of these people a dime. The Apostle Paul wrote, "if a man SHALL NOT work, he SHALL NOT eat." He didn't say "cannot work", he said "won't work".

Why do these gimmes get to have their hand in my pocket, and I don't have a say in it?
I say the country should be divided in half, with the liberals and gimmes living side by side. The conservatives get the other half. Wanna bet which half will be rife with poverty, crime, and joblessness???? My half, however, will be mostly peaceful and prosperous.

Also, no gimmes will be allowed to even visit a conservative territory unless they are RFID chipped and tracked 24/7.

  • Tonto

I should feel bad about laughing, but I don't. The sooner the riots start the better I'll like it. The idiots that voted for Obama deserve all the pain they get from that stupidity and greed. The fact that it will also impact the rest of us is irrelevant....the obamanites hate us, I hate them, and the idea that they will suffer more than I makes everything OK.

  • xoxozo

I now think we might have to see a BIG breakdown for these Owebamabots to see REALITY!!!

If the people are truly angry for having their Food Stamps cut then they need to place their anger where it properly belongs, if people are going to riot, they need to riot against the government, not destroy their own neighborhoods like what happened in Los Angles during the Rodney King beatings by police officers.

Then Black rioters took to the streets and showed their anger by destroying their own neighborhoods instead of showing their anger towards the cause of their anger to begin with which was the Los Angels Police Department. Which did no good at all, their homes were destroyed people were harmed or killed and to what end, the police Department was fine and not harmed at all, the police officers were safe and cozy in their homes or their police cars.

The only people that were harmed were people who happened to be in the streets and the only property that was destroyed was the properties of businesses in the Los Angeles areas and the homes of the local people.

  • dondh

Great move you stupid Ohio liberals!! Hope you enjoy your reduction in food stamps and you can be sure there will be more things you are not going to like! Enjoy your life! You were totally wrong concerning Gov. Romney! He would have been the best president on your side! Your bad luck!!

that's what they get for believing his lies a second time..
