Blame the Drugs – Not the Guns

Our society doesn’t want to blame people like Adam Lanza for their actions; they would rather blame the guns he used as if the guns made him do it.  However, one expert is pointing the finger at another very probable cause for Lanza’s actions and others like him.

Dr, David Healy, founder of RISK.org, spends much of his time researching and reporting on prescription drugs.  In his research, Healy has found that nearly 90% of the school and other mass shootings in the past couple decades, were carried out by someone who was taking some form of psychotic drugs or anti-depressant.  These drugs are known to alter a person’s personality and can make them become violent.

It has been reported that Lanza was taking prescription drugs for a personality disorder, but what drugs he was taking has not been released yet.  If shown that he was taking drugs that fit into the category Healy is referring to, then it is very possible that they may be partially to blame for his actions.  Healy also says that we should not be comfortable with knowing that 90% of school shootings involved these personality altering drugs.

So where is the outcry on Capitol Hill or the media for a ban or study on these drugs that seem to be driving people to such violent behavior?  Other than Dr. Healy, I’ve seen no one else point a finger in the direction of the drugs.  They would rather keep pointing at guns and use these tragedies to further their agenda to disarm the American people.

Guns are our right. If you can afford them.
They have NO right to tell us we cannot have them because they don't like them.
That is the truth. no matter what some brain dead authoritarian liberal sheep says.

  • Gunjerrry

The drug thing is very real, but the drug companys make millions and are not going to admit that drugs are the problem, we have become a nation of mind altering drug users.

    • I_P_Frehley

I once had a severe allergic reaction to a certain laundry detergent, as such I had to take a very powerful medication whose name has been lost in the fog of time. I read the two and a half pages of (possible) side effects. One was psychotic episodes. I had to take the pills for thirty daze (literally) and I was an emotional mess because of it. These chemicals are very dangerous and must be independently researched, scrutinized and endorsed for medicinal efficacy.

    • netandyawho

Get real! Not only do the drug companies make millions, but politicians share in those millions also in the form of campaign contributions. And they too are not going to admit that drugs are the problem. Its easier to blame the weapons and ban them.

It is time we quit paying Psychiatrists huge salaries for inadequate patient maintenance with absolutely no cures for chronic mental illness. Chronic mental illness has a disease pathology that does not just reside in or originate in the head. The pathology of the disease affects the brain through chemical imbalances. While prayer can be used for cure of psychopathic or sociopathic tendencies where no disease pathology is present, it would be very difficult to cure mental illness only with prayer or counseling where chronic disease pathology is the cause. This is the problem: Allopathic Medicine has no cure
for mental or any other chronic disease. Ancient Natural and Alternative Medicine had cures for chronic disease; however, treatment of chronic disease starts with expert diagnosis and ability to evaluate treatments. Allopathic Physicians have no diagnostic techniques, relying exclusively on limited laboratory tests and only on patient statements
for psychiatric diagnosis. Pretending to handle the problem of mental illness is not going to get the job done no matter how much more money is put into the mental health system. Nothing will be done to change the outcome for those suffering from mental illness or destruction of their victims because Psychiatrists do not have the skills to solve the problem. When an Allopathic Physician is presented with a cure for chronic disease, one receives a blank stare. These physicians take their orders from the pharmaceutical companies. In order to solve our societal problem, the solution below needs to be implemented to end chronic disease not only for sufferers of mental disorders and their victimization of others, but for all chronic disorders.

Natural and Alternative Medicine uses 3 diagnostic techniques very successfully: Those techniques are Iridology, Kinesiology (Saliva DNA Testing), and either Expert Oriental or Ayurvedic Pulse Diagnosis. Iridology is accomplished via a camera linked to a computer. Kinesiology (Saliva DNA Testing) can even be done from a distance by mailing DNA swabbed cotton balls to a physician experienced in the art. Expert Pulse Diagnosis can
either be Oriental or Indian Ayurvedic. Expert Pulse Diagnosis takes the most time to learn, but is absolutely necessary for any physician who wants to diagnose chronic disease or assess a patient’s status and the efficacy of treatments. A combination of these diagnostic techniques gives cross-verification to the physician. And, the first 2, Iridology and Kinesiology (Saliva DNA Testing), will aid the physician’s diagnosis, until he
is expert in Oriental Pulse Diagnosis. (Distance pulse diagnosis can be accomplished via a lock of hair by keying in on [DNA], just as can be done in Kinesiology Saliva Testing with a swabbed cotton ball.) Allopathic Physicians face severe incompetence in every area besides the Operating Room and treatment of infection, demonstrating a Dark Age lack of knowledge. Many people believe this ineptitude is due to a stranglehold on Allopathic Medicine by the pharmaceutical industry, but this problem is also due to ingrained arrogance and incompetence on the part of Allopathic Psychiatrists. The State of Texas refusal to accept a mental health diagnosis from anyone other than an Allopathic Psychiatrist bears witness to entrenched ignorance on the part of state regulators regarding the competence of psychiatrists to diagnose.

Federal Government involvement in Medicine and Medical R & D is also a major factor in the lack of cures for chronic disease. There is too much money available from the Federal Government, so the status quo is reinforced instead of competent cost-effective treatment developing to meet medical needs. Necessity is the mother of invention only when the Federal Government isn’t in the driver’s seat handing out the dough.

A step by step solution to the problem: Allopathic Physicians first need to learn Natural and Alternative Medical diagnostic techniques. Second, all of the old ancient medical formulas and techniques need to be researched. It is impossible to research efficacy of treatments without expert diagnostic techniques for value assessment on patients. I use an almost completely unknown acupuncture protocol (self-administered much like a diabetic gives himself insulin injections) that treats many chronic diseases, as well as other little known medical knowledge for the majority of my health care needs. I use this acupuncture protocol now only for health maintenance. Friends are now asking me to share my medical knowledge because there is no treatment available for chronic disease. Chronic disease treatment is “Do it yourself healthcare, or do without because
Allopathic Medicine provides absolutely "NO" cures.”

The major solution to high health care costs and successful treatment of mental disorders is for states to mandate medical schools to teach expert diagnostic techniques to first year medical students. If students are lacking in proficiency in expert diagnostic techniques at the end of the first year of medical school, they need to be washed out of the program. We can eliminate the majority of the expense and failure in our medical system by insisting our states get tough on the way physicians are trained.

Congress and State Legislatures can get Dr. Vassant Lad of Albuquerque, NM and, or other pulse diagnosticians to give demonstrations in Washington and the various state legislatures by diagnosing Congressmen while they are sitting in their seats in Congress. Dr. Lad or other expert pulse diagnosticians could rapidly perform a blind study for a state legislature on an acupuncture treatment protocol that I have in my possession that cures chronic mental disease as well as other chronic diseases. All that would be
required is for Dr. Lad to take the pulse of patients before and after the acupuncture treatment, in order to prove that a profound change occurs when the treatment is administered. This acupuncture protocol can be acquired by contacting me: [email protected]

House members can send a saliva sample to Healthy Bodies in Wills Point, TX to be diagnosed and receive treatment, in order to test the efficacy of this diagnostic method. Congress or a state legislature can invite an iridologist into the state legislature to
diagnose everyone sitting in a House seat. Since these diagnostic methods can be demonstrated, our Allopathic Medical Establishment can make no excuses for current inept and expensive medical diagnosis and thoroughly inadequate palliative care.

Psychiatry has not progressed beyond its infancy, and it will only progress when the public insists on competent diagnostic techniques. We have the ability to make our state and federal governments give us better health care, so let’s do it. There is no excuse for mass murders. Even with extensive training time for physicians and long times for treatment, our society could be well on its way to freedom from chronic disease within 15 years, if we insist on implementation of expert pulse diagnosis. Without expert pulse diagnosis, no Allopathic Physician will implement any of the Natural or Alternative treatments that surface because he has no ability to easily discern the value. That means we are stuck, until we change the system.

*E*X*C*E*L*L*E*N*T* summary of the homeopathic health industry in a nutshell !

Please do continue to post this, wherever and whenever you can!

I am in the legal health industry called Therapeutic Massage. Legal because I exercise massage in the correct manner and am professional to a "T". I can not tell you how discouraging it is to try and promote massage as a career and positive health benefit. When you read postings in papers (like the Dallas Observer), claiming a relaxing massage ~ just from the language and photo included, you can tell that it is prostitution.

Texas has less than a dozen on staff in their health department to monitor these places, to lock up the jane and john doe's associated with this form of entertainment (it might include massage, but it includes other acts that are immoral in my book).

What's interesting to note is that many of these massage prostitutes do in fact, attend the classes legitimately as students, learn the ropes, then never show up for the state examination. What a surprise!

Anyway, I'm very weary of my experience with the run-of-the-mill MDs out there. I have located a doc who has been trained traditionally and also practices holistically. This sounds like the best of both worlds.

      Keep getting the word out!

  • Sandra Lee Smith

Blame NEITHER guns nor drugs; blame AMORALITY and the society that fosters it! Those are far more responsible for ALL the mass shootings, than any gun or drug is!

    • jorland428

I agree. Our morals are lacking and we are de-sensitized to death and killing.
Growing up in the 30s thru 50s, we had heroes to look up to.
Roy Rogers, Batman, Wonder Woman. They never killed any one and good always
prevailed. Today death is everywhere. The lines between good and evil are
blurred and if there are any heroes, they are slaughtering hundreds of people.
When was the last time some bad guy had the gun shot out of his hand without
      even get a blood blister?

What puzzles me is that Hollywood is surprised when movies
like Star Wars and Indiana Jones become box office hits. They are what the 50s
      movies were.

      • Sandra Lee Smith

That's precisely why kids who do so many of these things can't discern between good and evil, reality and the fantasy games they play; and DON'T GET that there are consequences to the actions! The fact that the desensitization has occurred via media in particular, is that there's a particular group who have an agenda that "requires" it, and our religious institutions have gone, wrongfully, along with it!

  • The J Man

At the bottom of the issue lies human choice. We are personally responsible for our actions.

    • Doodlebug

Guns were NOT the only thing that played a part in this tragic event. BUT, it will be the guns that get ALL the blame. obummer said that games played, movies watched, mental illness, etc. all need to be looked into. I, however, wonder if he will follow through and ban the games on the internet, the movies made, follow through with doing something with people with mental problems. I really doubt that to the arrogant, nose in the air, lying obummer, nothing will be looked into BUT GUNS!! He has had this gun fetish for four years now. Any other checking out of the others will be a surface checking only. Just enough to say that he looked into it. Rather he sent biden to do it so obummer can deny whether or not it was done.

If children were brought up with corporal punishment this type of thing would not have happened. Parents are no longer the authority figure in children's lives and they look to Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise et al as their to show them what to do. Not what is right and wrong. Hence the gun shooting craze.

    • Conservativesniper

Discipline, not corporal punishment, is the key. I hope people are smart enough to figure out how to administer discipline without resorting to physically beating their children. And to make an absolutely ignorant statement like," If children were brought up with corporal punishment this type of thing would not have happened." is utterly ridiculous. The biggest killing on a schools grounds was in 1927 in Bath, MI. And it wasn't committed by a child reared without the privilege of corporal punishment. It was committed by someone about your age, Barb. He murdered 45 people, with dynamite.

There are two ways to motivate behavior, the carrot and the whip. Sure am glad you weren't my mother.

And it's not a 'craze' like the Hula Hoop. It is the result of greed and flawed 'experiments' to make money.

      • http://www.facebook.com/barbjeanpatton Barb Patton

It depends what your idea is of corporal punishment - to each his own. I brought up 3 children that were punished when they were naughty and loved and applauded when they did well either at home or at school. They worked, made their beds, washed dishes, swept floors, kept their rooms tidy etc. etc. I did not have to resort to (perhaps in your eyes corporal punishment is a cat of nine tails) ( who knows). a lot of chastizing. My children were also taught right from wrong. My son has been to Iraq to fight for your freedom Mr Conservative Sniper and laid his life on the line for your blood lineage. Enough said.

        • Conservativesniper

I am a US Marine and have laid my life on the line to preserve the Constitution and Bill of Rights which provides the freedom we Americans enjoy in this country. So don't lecture me about self sacrifice, Barb.

Corporal punishment is defined as "... a form of physical punishment that involves the deliberate infliction of pain as retribution for an offense, or for the purpose of disciplining or reforming a wrongdoer, or to deter attitudes or behavior deemed unacceptable. The term usually refers to methodically striking the offender with the open hand or with an implement, whether in judicial, domestic, or educational settings." So, corporal punishment wouldn't have been of much use in this situation since the little monster was mentally defective, unreasonable. Ergo, your ignorant remarks about corporal punishment in this situation are pointless.

In closing, you're hilarious. The fighting in Iraq was not to preserve American freedoms. The War in Iraq, which deposed a sadistic, evil dictator and his offspring, was to enforce the terms of surrender for the invasion of Kuwait. America is the most powerful military entity in the UN. There were also British and Australian forces and troops from 40 other countries participating to put a permanent end to the atrocities committed by that madman.

          Have a Merry Christmas, Barb.

Many drugs tell you to be aware of side effects that include suicide. It seems to me that instead of suicide one of the side effects might be homicide. Get a lawyer looking at that bag of money and he will be like a salivating pit bull.

No accident. Psychotic people committing violent crime is a tactic to disarm the general populace. The Democratic Party led the drive to overthrow commitment laws and close asylums to ensure social chaos leading to the overthrow of our constitutional rights.

"Other than Dr. Healy, I’ve seen no one else point a finger in the direction of the drugs."
No there are books on the subject plus Michael Savage (KSFO 560 am on the internet) who is a scientist, has been discussing it on his radio show:
See Dr Breggin and the books he has written.
    "Medication Madness"
    and
    "Toxic Psychiatry"
    and
"The Anti-Depressant Fact Book: What Your Doctor Won't Tell You About Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Celexa, and Luvox"
    and
    Robert Whitaker wrote:
"Anatomy of an Epidemic: Magic Bullets, Psychiatric Drugs, and the Astonishing Rise of Mental Illness in America "(Aug 2, 2011).

The danger not only exists in the taking of these meds but also in the withdrawal from these meds, which has to be done very carefully. Men are more affected than women. Doctors don't know. They hand them out like candy.

Google the subject on the internet: SSRI's and Shootings or SSRI's and Mass Shootings or anti-depressants and shootings. SSRI's are a family of drugs.

Michael Savage thinks people taking these drugs should not be allowed to own guns,(nor in the house with a person taking these drugs). I think if a gun store turns down the purchase of a person from them because they don't feel comfortable, that the gun store should report it to the police (and or campus police) that someone who raised red flags. or the hairs on the back of their neck, is looking to buy a gun, and they should be protected from being sued for doing so.. They should get the name address and telephone number from photo ID before showing a guns to a potential purchaser.

The Dems would rather take away guns and go up against the NRA than go up against Big Pharma, and Hollywood for violent media, and violent video games Notice that China supports the disarming of Americans..Iran is doing what Iran always does, trying to foment ant-Semitism by blaming it on the Jews, and not only that but as a Jewish conspiracy.

The Dems being Leftist who want equality would rather treat the entire country as mentally ill, and expand Big Brother government and take away guns, and surveil us, rather than make a discernment between healthy and unhealthy. Government can never be big enough to make up for a population, kept infantile, and not taught religion, and not taught morality, and not taught accountability, nor personal responsibility, where high self esteem is the goal, and .not hurting a person's feelings are paramount, and truth is sacrificed. The Left is still blaming Reagan for the non-support and non-funding of mental illness in California despite the Dems being in power for ages. The ACLU lawsuits are the ones who opened the doors to the mental institutions across the country and that may or may not have been a good thing except that the results have been homelessness and schizophrenics on the streets, peopel who can't take care of themselves. The Dems like feel- good legislation, and don't like to admit to evil existing, nor hard to solve problems. The Dems spread dependency and buying votes eg by expanding children's lunch programs which pay off the unions and then don't have money for real problems. The Dems don't believe in self-defense any more than they believe in us owning our own cars and driving our own cars to where we are going. Lleave it up to the "experts", leave it up to the police, if you can wait 20 minutes or longer for them to show up.They don't publicize self-defense success stories. They don't know about them. They don't know the statistics. They support what is in the interests of the Trial Lawyers Assoc which intimidates people across the country for practicing discretion.

Think of the thinking. They assume that everyone is law abiding and rational. They thought locking the door to the school and having a policy of a gun free zone would make the children safe and it did not occur to them that someone with a criminal and perhaps insane state of mind would be stopped by a locked door. The man who shot up the theater in Colorado passed two theaters from his home to get to a smaller theater which had a gun free policy. (John Lott, see below.) Crazy does not mean stupid.

"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."John Adams See other quotes by John Adams.

The Dems attack the traditional family with a father in the house. The cultures with the highest rate of mother only families have the highest violence rate. The Dems attack masculinity.Dennis Prager said "The task of a society is to make good men and we don't bother to do that." It is hard to do if the Dems, 50% of the country, believe that gender is more important than sex, and that there is no such thing as masculinity.,and that a son doesn't need a father. Prager interviewed on his show John Lott, former chief economist for United
States Sentencing Commission. His book "More Guns, Less Crime" (3rd edition 2010). on Dec 17, 2012 second hour. One can listen to an hour by paying a minimal amount of money in Pragertopia.

I don't believe that disarming the American citizen is going to be an easy task? We are not as stupid as most politicians proclaim us to be! And the idea the U.S. Constitution is out dated is a myth some of the so called Congressmen are trying to burn into the heads of brain deads, it just isn't going to fly. Always the Constitution, just like the State's Constitution, which also give's a citizen to bear arms...PERIOD!

The gun control nuts have their petition to ban assault weapons up on white house dot gov. Help me get 150 signatures on this petition by going to http://wh dot gov/RzM7
    As follows:
We petition the obama administration to: along with Congress, enact
legislation eliminating gun free zones as an inherent danger to the
    People.

Whereas, there were horrific shootings in Aurora CO, Newtown CT,
Grundy VA, Greenville MS, Portland OR, Oak Creek WI, and other places
    around the United States;

Whereas, the common factor in these crimes is that they took place in "gun free" zones;Whereas, evil people seek out . . .

Congress will never address the issue of psychotropic medications because the pharmaceutical industry is one of the biggest lobbying groups.

  • rchguns

Put the blame where it belongs. It started in the 60s when the progressives took control of our schools. The indoctrinated our children with the ideals that it doesn't matter what you do because there's never any consequences. They eliminated punishment from schools and once they had that taken care of then they set about destroying initiative. The kids run a race after the race the winner or the fastest gets a prize the slowest and the ones who didn't try also get a price so this teaches that there is absolutely no reason to try to do better because you're going to get everything in the end anyway. The schools have unleashed a generation of potential monsters amongst the non-prepared populace.

In schools where students had to follow rules the ones who refused were noted and corrective measures were tried and most of the time it worked. But the ones who would not follow the rules under any circumstances and resorted to violence and severe antisocial behavior were noted and then they could be evaluated at which time they could be incarcerated or whatever but they would be no and publicly prevented from becoming monsters like the shooter in the school.

Then not satisfied with that the same politicians and liberals said about making it simple for these monsters define the best hunting grounds. They call them gun free zones where these monsters in the refill their sick dreams and get their 15 min. of fame before they need to shoot themselves or hopefully killed by the police. It's the Progressive/Liberal/Socialists were to blame for this type of violence. Don't blame the gun or any scientific claptrap about genetics and DNA. These monsters are created by the environment put in place by these misguided stooges.

Why do disturbed children kill their parent or members of their own families? I suggest you read my excellent book EVENING IN JULY, now available on Amazon/Kindle.
