6-Year-Old Suspended For Saying, “Pow”

Michael Moore recently said that the only reason white people are buying a bunch of guns in the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting is that they’re fearful. Afraid of black people specifically. He said, “Calm down, white people, and put away your guns.” So if we’re all buying guns and ammo out of fear of the black man, what emotion would cause this idiocy:  a 6-year-old boy was suspended from school for making his hand in the shape of a gun and pretend shooting it, saying, “Pow,” as it was pointed at a fellow student. Were school officials actually scared that a bullet was going to come out of the child’s index finger and kill his classmate? So, it’s not fear that’s driving this; it’s pure stupidity.

Renee Garraway, the Assistant Principal in this Montgomery County, Maryland school, sent a letter home with the 6-year-old. Her letter, addressing the child’s parents, stated in part that “your son ... was involved in a serious incident. [He] threatened to shoot a student. He was spoken to earlier today about a similar incident." He threatened to shoot a student? Are they kidding? He was probably playing a version of Cops and Robbers. He’s a little boy. At one time, such behavior was considered normal for little boys. Nowadays with the abject paranoia of the left, this child’s configuring his fingers in the shape of a gun is worthy of suspension.

And because of the school’s “no tolerance” policy and ridiculous overreaction, the parents have had to retain an attorney, Robin Ficker. Ficker pointed out that "five years from now when someone at Montgomery County looks at [the child's] permanent record, they're going to see that he threatened to shoot another student."

This is similar to another recent incident where a 3-year-old deaf student was told he had to change his sign language name because the hand gestures for the name “Hunter” resembled guns, much like the 6-year-old’s “gun” above being used to shoot a fellow student.

Government schools are proving themselves to be dangerous, mentally, emotionally and physically. They’re also run by imbeciles who think they’re doing society a favor by removing the kids with “behavior problems” such as the child who was playing Cops and Robbers. Shutting down these government schools would do society a much greater favor.

  • Screeminmeeme

I'll tell ya who should have a ''no tolerance policy''.

We are fools to tolerate our HIRED representatives in the White House and Congress doing things that we know to be bad for America. It's a shame that we can't SUSPEND them from their jobs until they decide to do what is right and conform to the values and wishes of the American people.

    • Sandra Lee Smith

The problem is that global fiscal and political power are now concentrated under the control of ONE individual and HE'S NOT in America; in fact, it's HIS goal to obliterate every trace and memory OF America from human memory and the world!

  • WorriedMomma

This story is almost identical to what happened to my son last year at his elementary school in Texas. He and 3 other kids were playing pow pow with finger guns (this is all how the teacher and principle described it) and he was given in school suspension and received a mark for his file that said "Physical assault. He threatened to cause bodily injury to another student." After spending 2 weeks in meetings with the teachers involved and the principal and the superintendant, the school's official response was that: I should be grateful he wasn't expelled because they have zero tolerance. He was 5 at the time and she said it didn't matter if he was 5 or 15. Which of course I think is ridiculous because there's quite a large difference between a 5 year old and a 15 year old, but I left the school realizing very few people in public education have any common sense left. My son has been homeschooled since that meeting and not only is he already ahead of his age group in all subjects, but his manners and attitude have improved. He's no longer bored all day writing letters over and over and he realizes that his kindergarten was wrong when she told him he could only read words 5 letters long because he was 5. I'm so glad I live in Texas where homeschooling is a great alternative. And I'm worried for this country and the other children in these unfortunate situations.

    • Charles

This is a prime example of the kind of empty heads we have teaching and running our school systems. The principle should have been expelled.

Thank your "unions" for the outstanding educated morons in the government school system

communist concepts are well understood by the graduates of Americas schools, and many hate capitalism as well as the constitution. I would guess that putting a rubber on a condom is more fun and easier to get an A for your studies

        • SeniorAmerican Patriot

By keeping our students uninformed over the years, unions have gained the foothold they planned to gain at the outset. One reason for the success is the lack of parental interest in what their kids are not learning. They are too busy planning their most important activities, none of which include what is going on with their chlldren. Probably to be expected when there are few real parents and many more sperm donors and incubators spawning for the increase in their welfare checks. Just another form of child abuse which plays into the plans of the of the Great Prevaricator ( liar for you graduates of union run schools) to destroy our democracy as George Soros bought him to do.WAY TO GO Obama!

      • Doodlebug

How did any of us old timers grow up without incident? I can remember playing cops and robbers during recess. I never, never thought of killing anyone and we also played cowboys and Indians, and still we survived without incident. I applaud worriedmother for homeschooling her son, he will stay ahead of kids in his age group, however, it is unfair that you should have to do this because of this 6 y.o. playing cops and robbers. But get used to it folks, obummers out to get us, all of us.

        • kalamawashington

Doodlebug:"...unfair that you should have to do this...". I feel that it great that she has the opportunity and ability to do this. Why is it "unfair"? She will have a better relationship with her son, he will get a better education, and we, as a country, will get a better citizen. Thank you, WorriedMamma, for caring so much for your son. (This from the father of a daughter who is homeschooling all of her ten children. And they, as Garrison Keeler says, "are all above average". :-)

Not all homeschooled kids do well. I could cite specific instances, and would love to see truly comparative data, as in all homeschooled kids having to take the same tests public school kids must take under the same set of circumstances.

I can not remember how many times I "shot" a friend because he was "tonto" that day or how many times I was "killed". My sister was the one who enjoyed it the most when she "shot" me. She still does only now it is verbal sparing......

      • DandBA

Those teachers and administrators are NOT prime examples of the kind of empty heads, etc. Their heads are quite full...full of the liberal, socialistic/communistic reasoning that our colleges and universities are teaching to day. Add all their liberal thought to today's political correctness and you have the primary reason that public schools are failing and failing badly. The children are the ones who are and will continue to suffer because they are being taught by the Communists and homosexuals that Obama wants in our public schools. The head of the Department of Education is a homosexual and makes no bones about it. I realize that today's teachers were in college some time ago, but the damage to our public schools, colleges, etc was begun decades ago when the Democrats were in full power and going full steam ahead. Does this sound familiar to anyone else?

    • GDC

      • joanc

The problem lies in the liberal and radical thinking Professors, who are more than willing to teach their ideals to the young. When ex Black- Panthers from the 60's and bomb throwing Weather men from the same era , are the professors in positions of teaching our impressionable young, what do we expect. Weatherman and former Chicago Professor Bill Ayers, recently stated he wish he had caused more chaos in the USA. I guess bombing several US buildings, including the Pentagon and a Police station didn't satisfy him. Our big tution payments go to teach our kids, What? We send our youth to get an education, however sometimes it's indocrination about the errors of the USA,as part of a Proferrors lesson plan. Something is very wrong with the system, ifC College Leaders hire known radicals, over high rated candidates who espouse love of country and high ideals. How many Colleges accept Professors, who knowinly infect our kids with their own radical viewpoints, and fail to allow the students to think for themselves. From the students some colleges are turning out these days, the answer is obvious. It is not only College students who deal with Radical thinking, for those who go on to teach will spread their new found radical ideas. This along with Political correctioness BS, is now being relected in a few of our Elementary through High School teachers, as evidenced from the POW discipline of a five year old child. Common sense needs to make a come back!

        • mobul264

It would be poetic justice should some wacko decide to occupy and barricade Ayers' office while Ayers was IN it! But, I guess that's just wishful thinking on MY part! The wacko would be coddled, and encouraged to show his dissatisfaction with society in some OTHER room, probably!

    • kellys

Its all about programming, your kid isnt taught anything but how to follow the herd, academics be damned.

      • BJW

Government schools is why Obama got re-elected. They aren't taught to think for them selves. They are given work to do and turn it in. No thinking is required and heaven help us if the student turns in something that is against the P.C. teacher unions philosophy. I homeschooled all my children, the third I pulled out when the school just kept passing her on even when she was performing well below grade level. When she got help in High School for math they just said she would never understand Algebra so they didn't try to help her and gave her pre Algebra work.
My second child thanked me for homeschooling. When at the community college for running start she came home and said those public school kids don't know anything.
About 30 years ago I worked at a public school and had recess duty. When a student started talking back to me and sassing me she told the couselor I had shaked her. I got called to a meeting with the couselor and the principal. Later when I saw the counselor again I repeated that I had not done so. The counselor said well in her mind you did. So a student can lie through their teeth and in their mind it happened! The teacher knew she was lying and told me so and she was showing off for another child. Public schools were bad enough 30 years ago, now they are even worse.

    • Cliffystones

It gets worse. When my son was in Kindergarten (he's now 16) he got some "Sponge Bob" underpants. He told his classmates, who wanted to see them. He showed them off, and was promptly suspended for a "sexually inappropriate act" The fact that he was six years old and didn't know sex from sugar cane didn't matter to the school officials. And BTW, this was a PRIVATE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL! Seems idiocy isn't confined to secular libtards any more.

      • Screeminmeeme

Cliffystones.........Our children today are being robbed of their innocence. There is an obsession in our society with little kids who don't have a clue being accused of sexual acts. I think this says more about the adults involved than with the kids.

        • jimbyonly

        • Screeminmeeme

jimbyonly.......Yeah. The adults who see just about everything kids do as having to do with sex in one or the other. Those adults are the ones with the problem...not the kids who don't have the capacity to understand it all.

        • joanc

The schools are obsessed with sex ed, a subject that is none of their business. They hand out condoms to young high schoolers at proms, which in effect says to them , Its okay to have protected sex. This sets the kids up as weird if they don't engage in sex after the dance. Haven't the school so called leaders ever heard of peer pressure and bullying? Apparently not, their minds are soewhere else It is not the schools job to give the young teens license to have sex. if a child is taught moral values at home, instead of loose values taught by schools, then he or she will act accordingly. Condoms do not always stop pregnancies, nor social diseases. Will the school then send the girl for an abortion,an act that will affect her forever. Who bears the blame, is it whoever dispensed the condoms? No wonder there are so many screwed up kids. Let the schools teach the subjects the kids will need to succeed- Math, History, Civics, Science, not the rewritten history or science being pushed by progressives, the REAL factual history, not the remade history of some flunkie.who thinks it will meet their goal of changing the USA. Truth never lies, and a countries history can never be rewritten although some will try, along with attempts of demoralizing our young, but only if we remain complacent and let them. I hope parents will speak up and stop the madness that has taken over in some of our schools and demand they get back to basic learning and leave moral values to the parents. I smell a big lawsuit in the future, if this keeps up.

    • Patriot

I think there would have been any number of attorneys willing to take it on pro bono.

suspend all students for carrying concealed weapons into school. Every student can take their hand and form a gun, so we should disarm them early. Maybe we can even chop off their hands so that they won' be able to play.

  • Carl Stevenson

The government schools are not designed to educate our kids (witness their abysmal reading and math scores and their lack of knowledge of true history, the Constitution, that the Founders were "terrorist," etc.) but to indoctrinate them with the collectivist, Marxist hogwash that will prepare them to be good serfs in the future police state that our "leaders" are building for us all.

Typical academic ignorance. The majority, I did not say all, of academic people are spineless idiots that fear everything in the their daily lives and have no working knowledge of the outside world. Little boys play cowboys and indians and cops and robbers with

I watched the old black & white westerns at movie theatres when I was a child. Even though I'm female, I played "Cowboys & Indians" then, pointing toy sixguns at my playmates and yelling, "Bang, bang!!" Throughout the following decades, I've never even owned a gun, much less actually used one. I've never shot and killed a multitude of people or even one person. I've never been arrested for any violence (or for anything else). I've never even received a traffic ticket or been involved in any "road rage." Obviously, shooting my playmates with toy guns never did influence me to be any kind of lawbreaker or mass killer.

Indeed....common sense was murdered and has been a victim of mass stupidity.

Civil society is not longer civil - but things are looking up as I hear that when Reid and Boehner met last night the House Speaker told Reid to "Go F__ Yourself". Of course Reid couldn't believe that he would be spoken to in that way so Boehner repeated it. Senators always thought of themselves as special people and Representatives as rabble.

"The fish rots from the head down". Sounds like Congress and the White House have plenty of rot to go around. It's no wonder it filters down throughout society and schools are special targets for do-gooders who take everything too far.

  • rchguns

first of all take into consideration that this is Maryland. Next you got a public school system that is run by progressive/ liberal/Socialist them believe that they need to run everything and that people are so stupid that they can't take care of themselves and their students no longer need to be educated but indoctrinated.

They've taken our schools and are using that to create a generation of social misfits, young people of victim mindset believe they need to be taking care of, and have eliminated anything that may possibly create self-esteem through competition and the desire to excel.

These people are the ones that are responsible for the school shootings and all of these other horrendous acts of violence. Our public schools have created a generation of monsters. Our children are bombarded with the liberal mindset that there is no rules, you can never be held responsible for your actions, that there is no such thing as moral right and wrong, and basically a total lack of respect for themselves and everyone else. The junk people have such low self-esteem that they will do anything to get their 15 min. of fame.

This school by suspending the student for what children have done for ages is totally ridiculous. When I grew up ever boy on my street at Mattel fatter 50s cap-guns. When playing Army, cowboys and Indians, cops and robbers and you know we never had a school shooting. In fact during hunting season I would bring my rifle or shotgun to school and leave it at the office and go hunting on the way home. Nobody ever got shot we didn't have this problem.

We never had these school shootings or any other mass shootings for that matter until these nut jobs took over our schools.so who's really to blame think about.

    Liberals hate kids.

  • 1Responce

Watch television, video games, or read the news. These children are bombarded with violent information they cannot possibly understand, and you expect them to behave as responsible adults. We can't even expect that of the out-of-school general public. Zero-tolerance is authority's way to eliminate common sense. Stop bullying, they say, but punish the victim, even if he doesn't try to defend himself. Self-defense is becoming a crime. We're training a generation of whimps and victims. Even the nuns in my childhood, knew that boys will be boys. Without drugs and with discipline they handled the transgressors quite well. They did so without monetary reward, but with a tremendous desire to do God's work on earth and help to mold children with the desire to excel and do the right thing as adults. What's missing today? God, morals, and discipline are missing. What's prevalent today? Ridiculous salaries and pensions, indoctrination, lack of discipline, no common sense and morality being taught, no personal responsibility for children's behavior, and the everyone's special mentality, is the norm. It's no wonder they are not able to function in the real competitive world in which they become a part.

I've never killed anyone nor have I ever shot a gun at anyone. I do love target practice with my own pistol though. It's fun to hit the mark - - and kill that paper target. Actually, the school is correct in Suspending the 6 year old, as a matter of fact the parents should take their son out of that school altogether and Home School him so he can get a good proper education instead of the idiotic education the Public indoctrination System called Public Education teaches. The public Education System is a dangerous thing to a young impressionable mind.

Wonder what they would do if they knew I point my finger and go "Pow" every time Obama shows his face on TV?

When I was a kid, we used to go to the Saturday matinee, which always showed Gene Autry, Wild Bill Hickok, etc. movies. We wore our cap guns (anyone old enough to remember them?), and when the cowboys were shooting it up onscreen, we shot off our cap guns. No one was hurt, none of us grew up to commit murder, and the thought police didn't swoop down on us and haul us off to juvenile detention. How stupid our society has gotten over the years.................

Madness after girl, 4, draws gun pic at school WORLDNETDAILY

Dad: ‘I’m picking up my kids and then, next thing you know, I’m locked up’

A father has been arrested, strip-searched and hauled in for
questioning – all because his four-year-old daughter drew a picture of a
    gun at school.

“I’m picking up my kids and then, next thing you know, I’m locked up,” Jessie Sansone, 26, told the Waterloo Region Record in Canada. “I was in shock. This is completely
insane. My daughter drew a gun on a piece of paper at school.”

Sansone, a Kitchener resident, had arrived at Forest Hill public school
to pick up his children when he was called to the principal’s office.
Three police officers informed him he was being charged with possession
of a firearm. Then he was escorted out of the school, handcuffed and
locked in the back of a police car.

According to Sansone, he didn’t learn what had caused the investigation until hours after his arrest. Other officers arrived at his home, where they instructed his
wife to come to the police station and took his other three children to
Family and Children’s Services to be questioned.

“Nobody was given any explanation,” Sansone’s wife, Stephanie Squires, told the
paper. “I didn’t know why he was being arrested. He had absolutely no
idea what this was even about. I just kept telling them. ‘You’re making a

Sansone was forced to undergo a full strip search.

The school principal, police and child welfare officials said there
would need to be an investigation to determine whether he had a gun in
his home that children could find.

Alison Scott, executive director of Family and Children’s Services, told the Record, “From a public safety point of view, any child drawing a picture of guns and
saying there’s guns in a home would warrant some further conversation
    with the parents and child.”

Waterloo Regional Police Inspector Kevin Thaler said Forest Hill public school had complained that “a firearm was in a residence and children had access to it. We had every concern, based on this information, that children were in danger.”

He told the paper the school officials’ concern wasn’t based merely on
the girl’s picture. Neaveh, Sansone’s daughter, also purportedly made
remarks about the drawing that troubled officials.

When a teacher asked Neaveh who the man in the picture was, she purportedly
said, “That’s my daddy’s. He uses it to shoot bad guys and monsters.”

Sansone said several hours after his arrest a detective apologized and informed him that he would be released without charges.

“To be honest with you, I broke down,” Sansone told the Record. “My
character got put down so much. I was actually really hurt, like it
could happen that easy. How do you recognize a criminal from a father?”

After his release, authorities asked Sansone to sign a document
allowing a search of his house. He said he signed it, even though he had
    the option to decline.

“I just think they blew it out of proportion,” his wife said. “It was for absolutely nothing. They searched our house upside down and found nothing. They had the
    assumption he owned a firearm.”

She added, “The way everything happened was completely unnecessary, especially since we know the school very well. I don’t understand how they came to that conclusion from a four-year-old’s drawing.”

Alison Scott, executive director of Family and Children’s Services, said the agency was required to investigate after the school reported the incident.

“Our community would have an expectation if comments are made about a gun in a
house, we’d be obligated to investigate that to ensure everything is
safe,” she said. “In the end, it may not be substantiated. There may be a
reasonable explanation for why the child drew that gun. But we have to
go on what gets presented to us.”

According to the report, she acknowledged, “I’m sure this was a very stressful thing for the family.”

As for the strip search, Thaler said the procedure was required “for officer safety, because it’s a firearms-related incident.”

He noted, “At the point in the investigation when it was determined it
was not a real firearm, the individual was released unconditionally.”

As a retired public school teacher I am convinced that our only hope is to rescue
our children from the public (government) schools and raise a godly generation.

Please see "Call to Dunkirk" at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRGZLSVph3A.

Public schools cannot be redeemed. Saying we should not abandon them is like saying the
passengers of the Titanic should have stayed aboard because the band was playing
good music and the captain was a good man.

I say they should outlaw fingers in school, because nothing good can come of this. Stop the madness, if he had been picking his nose, they would have stunned him for fear he was attempting suicide. Welcome to bizzaro world.

But it would have been okay if he wanted to perform fellatio on someone just like Obuttface said he did.

Provide the email addresses for these overly politcally correct "........" and let the public shower them with the 'praise' they deserve for theire sheer stupidity. If I were the superintendent, they would all be looking for jobs - not in the education field. .
