Facts Anti-Gun Advocates Don’t Want You to Know

After last summer’s shooting in Aurora, Colorado and last month’s shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, anti-gun advocates want you to believe that America is a nation infected with violent crimes and murders.  They want you to believe that we are one, if not the, most violent nation in the world and that we have to rid the nation of guns to solve the problem.

But what are the real facts?

Amidst the Noise released a video on You Tube that provides some very stunning facts about violent crimes in the US and Great Britain that anti-gun advocates don’t want you to know this.

For instance, according to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reports: Crime in the United States Table 1, violent crimes in the US have dropped by nearly 50% in the last twenty years.  In 1992, there were 757.7 violent crimes per 100,000 people.  In 2011, there were only 386.3 violent crimes per 100,000 people.  That’s a reduction of 49%.

In the same Table 1, we also see that there were 9.3 homicides per 100,000 people in 1992 and that number dropped to 4.7 homicides per 100,000 in 2011.  That’s a reduction of 49.4% in the homicide rate in the past twenty years.

The politicians also want you to believe that assault rifles are responsible for many of the homicides that occur and that they need to be banned.  According to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reports: Crime in the United States Table 8, there was a total of 12,664 homicides reported in 2011.  Of those, 8,583 were committed with a firearm.  Of those, only 323 were committed with a rifle.  Now realize that assault rifles are a subset of the 323, which means that they account for less than 3.8% of homicides committed by firearms and less than 2.6% of all homicides.

Have you ever wondered where the highest concentrations of violent crime are?  Again turning to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reports: Crime in the United States Table 16, we find that the vast majority of violent crimes are occurring in America’s largest cities.  In 2011, there were 754.5 violent crimes per 100,000 people in cities with populations of 250,000 or more.  Compare that to the national average that year of 386.3 per 100,000 and see where most of the violent crimes are occurring.  Incidentally, the locations of this highest violent crime rates also corresponds to the areas that vote Democrat and re-elected Barack Obama.

Now remember that the anti-gun politicians want you to believe that America is far more violent than other nations.  So let’s compare our violent crime rate to England and Wales.  The Home Office Statistical Bulletin: Crimes Detected in England and Wales 2011/12, reports that there were 762,515 violent crimes in the past year.  The population of England is 53,013,000 and the population of Wales is 3,006,400.  Do the math and you end up with 1,361.6 violent crimes per 100,000 people.  In other words, England and Wales has violent crime rate 3.5 times HIGHER than the US.

The truth is, as the video reveals, that liberal anti-gun politicians don’t want you to know the real facts about guns and violence.  If you knew the truth, they wouldn’t have any justifiable reason to try to outlaw and ban guns.  All of the air goes out of their anti-gun balloon.

The other truth revealed in the video is that inner-city culture is the real problem for a large percentage of the violent crimes that take place in the US.  It’s not guns, it’s the people.  And it’s the people who vote for Obama and others that want to ban and outlaw guns.  In order to truly reduce violent crimes and deaths by guns, you have to change the culture.  Unfortunately, Obama’s politics only help to reinforce the current culture and keep the people trapped in it.

The inner city culture is like a frog in a pot of water.  If you place a frog in a pot of hot water, he’ll jump out because the conditions are uncomfortable.  Put the same frog in a pot of water at room temperature and it remains there because it is comfortable to it.  As the water is heated up, the frog continues to stay in the water because the change is gradual.  Eventually the heat kills the frog.  Too many of the inner-city people are so comfortable in their misery that they don’t perceive the danger of it.  As conditions deteriorate, they continue to remain until eventually they become victims of their own complacency.

On one hand Obama is helping create the problem by enslaving the poor with entitlements.  On the other hand, Obama is using the problem to attack conservatives and gun owners.  He has no desire or intention of dealing with the real issues, but would rather use them to promote his socialistic agenda and policies which require him to disarm the American people.

Help stop Obama, Feinstein and Bloomberg by sharing these facts with everyone you know and encourage them to do likewise.

An excellent article, well-written, which if we lived in a God-fearing, truthful, intelligent and civil time and place, would serve to end the debate over (the stone, the arrow, the trebuchet) the gun, once and for all. Case closed.

"Well, doctor", you ask, "what is the continuing fuss all about?" Good question, grasshopper. "The fuss", answers the old, wise, tired physician, "is over 'deception'. You see, we live in an age of inflicted ignorance, abandonment of the eternal Biblical truths and the love of God for man, the education of the public: all the deceptions come from the control of Godless leaders, who only seek to make us their slaves."

"What should we do, doctor?" they ask. "The hour is late, children", I answer, "and the answer is not what to do, but what to be: serve the Lord with all your heart, read and live Biblical truths, love your country and be patriotic, learn the constitution, and love your family and friends."

"Once you have followed these commands" says the old man, "you will be directed by the force of good, and the will of God, in all things 'to do' and thus will your life have meaning, and you will have the knowledge of how to solve your problems, both today and forever."

America was free because Americans clung to God and guns.
When either one is taken away America ceases to be free.
Both are under severe attack today.

      • TuffLib

Yeah yeah yeah, and so what are you guys going to do about it? Vote? Pray? Call your senators? GOOD! You just keep on whining, and we'll keep on taking over. Other libs are either too shy or too stupid to realize what we're doing here. They are "convenient idiots" to our movement. What the thinkers of our party know is that we are lean and hungry. Conservatives are fat, lazy, content and slow. We are communists, we want POWER, and CONTROL, and we will have it. You are addicted to your comfort and convenience. Your bumper stickers say something about "from my cold dead fingers." That's fine with us. We'll be prying any day now. You pay our income taxes. You are addicted to our social security. You took Obamacare without firing a single shot. When the time comes, you'll tend toward the easiest, most comfortable path. You'll whine to make yourself feel good, but you'll give up the guns, alright. Hell, you'll BEG us to take your guns when you're staring down one of the barrels or OURS. We're coming, tough guy, In fact, we're already here. You feel that tight feeling in your rectum? That's us. That's ME! Now keep on whining, tough guy. That turns me on.

Yeah, you're "tuff" allright, fairy princess troll. Seems to me that you are doing all the whining here.

Guess you aren't to bright. MSNBC is for idiots only. Do you realize how many guns have been sold? Do you think ALL of our police and military are pro-Obama? Do you really believe the election was not compromised? 82% of Americans claim to be Christians. Conservatives outnumber liberals 2-1. The news media and George Soros elected Obama not Americans. Ever heard of the "silent majority"? You just think we are daunted. As my dear old Mom used to say "The dirt always comes out in the wash".

LOL! You are a trip! I can't wait for you to come get my guns. Yes, you can have them. All you have to do is be tough enough to take them. Will I die in the firefight? Of course I will. That is a given. And what else is a given is I will take as many of you with me as I fight for my rights. Now is a good time to die fighting for my beliefs so please, join your usurpers and come get our guns.

So if God encourages weapons for his "Will", won't that most likely cause death to others? No offense intended but isn't he meant to be the all loving? Why he give people the idea of guns if he knew we were more than capable of taking another life?

  • http://www.facebook.com/smichaelwilson Scott Wilson

Table 8 also shows that two-thirds off all homicides were committed by firearms.

    • David Stewart

      Dear Scott,

Although I agree with the conclusions of the article, you bring up a point, perhaps unintentionally, that underscores why the debate on guns seems to produce so much ostensibly contradictory data. Some of this is due to rudimentary, fallacious statistical analysis.

For example, why does Switzerland have such a high rate of private gun ownership, and yet they enjoy such a low incidence of public shooting massacres? On the other hand, why does Mexico City have such a high incidence of gun violence when private ownership of guns are illegal? Somalia has no gun restrictions, and yet despite being armed to the teeth, you'd be lucky to live to see 40. What gives?

I believe the problem here is that the issue is not principally the guns, or lack thereof. It really comes back to culture, or more specifically, godless, immoral culture wherever it is found. And because a majority in the USA currently believe that most of societies ills have a political solution, they tend to dismiss what I am writing as a kind of impotent, moralistic explanation, standing idly by pining for the good old days while shootings continue unabated. From my perspective, this is the worst situation imaginable, because we do have a violence problem in our country, and a larger portion of our populace than ever before seems to blame the guns, almost as if they have a kind of magical, talisman activity. It is almost like a form of self-delusion, like saying I'm overweight because the cheeseburger made me eat it.

Guns are the most efficient way to protect yourself, or unfortunately, to murder people in mass. The manner in which they are used is due to a lot of factors, but I believe that in those large cities you speak of, apart from the greater statistical probability that a murder might take place with a gun given a larger number of people living there, you also have in urban areas the problems that have become incumbent to the big city (broken families, drugs, low economic status, unemployment). Many of these factors are related, in my opinion, to the moral fiber of the people in that city.

My greatest concern is not the loss of assault rifles. It is a scenario like the one mentioned on this blog recently - a woman, home with her children, facing a home invasion. Criminals are opportunistic, and if our President decides to circumvent the legislative process and sign some executive order that he knows would not pass a vote from representative government, then people like you and I are going to be severely disadvantaged. Now, when the criminal kicks the door down, he knows the chances of meeting armed resistance is going to be even lower. Unlikely as it may be, this kind of thing does happen, and this is bad news for you and I, and our families.

      • goku vegeta

        • David Stewart

I agree. I think that as a sort of side-step to the deeper, root issues in our wicked generation, people find an easy out to blame guns. It is politically acceptable now more than ever, and you will be less likely to be challenged if you babble this sort of pop-anthropology.

How you are raised, your world view, all of those things tie in, but ultimately, we are responsible before God for the unjust taking of life. But this sort of view of an incident like Sandy Hook requires the kind of nationwide introspection that people running from God cannot bear. So, we blame the gun.,

        • NM Leon

We have the highest rate of gun ownership in the world by a wide margin. We are 28th in the world in the rate of firearm homicides. Obviously the problem isn't the firearms, but the culture involved.

      • Centurian2010

Excellent post. And if guns are taken away then two-thirds off all homicides will be committed by PEOPLE using kitchen knifes, baseball bats or whatever is at their disposal.

        • David Stewart

As you know, most of us are not trained for hand to hand combat, or knife defense. My wife and my daughters are no match for a male attacker who, on average, will have 2/3 superior upper body strength. Ironically, the argument by anti-gun groups that "untrained" people are now allowed to carry firearms is only exaggerated when you disarm citizens and then expect them to face physically stronger, more experienced, and more ruthless attackers who themselves are likely armed or at least accompanied by their criminal associates. There are any of a number of ways in which disparity of force works against an unarmed, law abiding civilian.

What also bugs me is the fact that even the most vocal anti-gun advocate locks his/her door at night. Why? To prevent racoons from jimmying the lock and getting into the cupboard? Its a form of cognitive dissonance on their part. They know that they lock their door, turn on the home alarm system, and turn on the porch light, because, unlikely as it may be, we live in a society where not everyone is willing to live peaceable with us. Now, from what we know from forensic psychology, is a lock a likely deterrent to most criminals? And for those who are not deterred by a lock, or an alarm, are they not a selected sub-group which is even more skilled, and likely more dangerous?

Somewhere between the oblivious person who sees no danger, and the person preparing for the end of the world, is where most of us are. We know that the chances of us needing to use a gun is low. We also know that in that unlikely and horrible scenario, the potential cost to us and our loved ones is so great, that we make the decision to own a gun, accepting the liability anyways. When an anti-gun person ridicules this as an unfounded fear, it is roughly analogous to ridiculing a person for owning life insurance or disability insurance. Unlikely events that would cost a high price might need to be guarded against at some level, and living with that awareness does not make you or I paranoid.

        • emerutil

Paranoia is healthy, if it causes one to take protective measures. Not all paranoia is unjustified!

        • David Stewart

Well, the connotation that most people attach to the word "paranoid" is that of an unreasonable, irrational, or phobic fear. Since anti-gun people are so crafty with language, I prefer not to give them that rhetorical advantage.

      • http://www.facebook.com/smichaelwilson Scott Wilson

Ignoring the idea of the culture leading to violence, as I could just as easily argue that the gun-worshiping culture that screams the loudest against any kind of gun control is just as dangerous as whatever you might think causes inner-city gun usage (poverty alone can be a major contributing factor, I'm sure you'll agree). I think the more important point is that just as you aren't worried about an assault rifle ban, you also shouldn't be worried about the single mother defenseless in her home, because nobody is rationally suggesting banning all guns, and no one rational thinks that trying to limit public access to assault rifles is going to lead to a fascist round-up of all gun owners. That's just what the NRA wants it's stockpiling flock to believe so they can keep gun sales up.

  • http://www.facebook.com/smichaelwilson Scott Wilson

So, you take the fact that the majority of the violent crimes take place in major metropolitan areas, and instead of deducing that this is probably due to the high concentration of population in those areas, you instead imply that it must be because those cities vote Democrat and have cultural values that are slowly turning inner-city dwellers into frogs. Makes sense to me.

    • Oakhollow

Take a look at the demographics and compare them to what political party has been in control of those areas and it might become more clear as to why the the comparisons were made. You have only half of the equation when you focus only on population density.

      • http://www.facebook.com/smichaelwilson Scott Wilson

No, you don't have half of the equation, you have just a small part of it. Economic disparity, quality of life, economic opportunity, education, law enforcement, civic programs... But if you want to ignore it all and just blame Democrats because it makes you feel better, have at it.

    • anniedawn

Oakland California (I live about 20 minutes from there) 131 murders in 2012. 50% black, 100% Democrat. Has been on the top 20 list of the deadiest cities in America for years. Richmond California (over the hill from where I live) usually in the top twenty deladliest cites in America. There are Mexican gangs and black gangs in the city. How did Richmond solve the death problem? They now PAY the gangs to be good. It came as a shock to the police when they found out. Bribes? The liberal counsel thought it was fine and the city department that oversees this "program" refused to cooperate with the police because it would ruin their "street creds". Richmond is totally liberal and some of the most ignorant statements I have ever heard come from the city council.

Well Scott, let me put it into simpler terms: most major metropolitan areas also have the strictest gun laws, that should also be taken into account. Of course it is certain that those metropolitan areas are run by democrats. Get it?

      • Centurian2010

Also, in case you miss it Scott, If these strict gun laws are so successful, then why don't they work?

        • http://www.facebook.com/smichaelwilson Scott Wilson

They do. Unless you're going to drag out some skewed Alex Jones statistics, in which case banning assault rifles will bring about global extinction.

      • http://www.facebook.com/smichaelwilson Scott Wilson

Let's put it in less simpler terms instead, shall we? Like for instance, maybe have actual statistics that show stricter gun laws only in cities with higher gun violence, along with proof that they were purely the fault of Democrats legislation. Simpler terms tend to leave out things like facts.

    • gray_man

Scott, It's chicken or the egg. one creates the other. Democrat values create places
that are overcrowded and poor, with no sense of being able to climb out. And those kinds of places tend to attract democrats. So yeah, it is democrat values. You can't spell democrat without rat.

  • Carl Stevenson

Feinstein, Schumer, Obama, Holder, Bloomberg, and their whole gang of progressive/Marxist/socialists are tyrant wannabes. To them, anyone who does, or might, oppose their control over every aspect of our lives, is "a criminal" because they said so.

To quote a few of their heroes, with explanatory comments in ( ):

"Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun." - Mao
(They revere Mao and the way he ruthlessly grabbed power in China. The fact that he murdered about 100 million Chinese to do it is, to them, a "feature," not a "bug.")

"If the opposition disarms, well and good. If it refuses to disarm, we shall disarm it ourselves. ... The only real power comes out of a long rifle. ... Everyone imposes his own system as far as his army can reach. ... We don't let them have ideas. Why would we let them have guns? ... The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of millions is a statistic." — Joseph Stalin

“The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed the To quote a few of their heroes, with explanatory comments in ( ):

(These psychopathic sociopaths in our government - and THEY ARE PRECISELY THAT, never make the mistake of doubting it - believe that they are anointed to be our rulers and that we are the equivalent of Hitler's "subject races.")

THOSE are the reasons why, and the sort of people who want to, disarm us.

These same people through DHS and other alphabet agencies have recently purchased over 1.8 BILLION rounds of ammo – enough to shoot every man, woman, and child in the country more than 4 times – ammo that’s illegal for military use under international law. Considering that you and I and all of the other US taxpayers are paying for all of this ammo, it's frighteningly reminiscent of the story of political prisoners' families being forced to pay for the bullets used to execute them ... isn't it?

If we allow these leftist control freaks to ignore and ultimately gut the 2nd Amendment, history will inevitably repeat itself. These "gun control" proposals have NOTHING to do with preventing crime, but EVERYTHING to do with CONTROL.

Hitler disarmed the Jews and others, then murdered about 15 million.
Stalin disarmed the Russians, them murdered about 40 million.
Mao disarmed the Chinese peasants, then murdered nearly 100 million.
The Turks disarmed the Armenians, then murdered 1.5-2 million.
Pol Pot disarmed the Cambodians and murdered millions.
Rwanda disarmed its ethnic groups, then murdered millions.
The list goes on … over 170 million people murdered BY THEIR OWN GOVERNMENTS in the 20th century – AFTER they allowed those governments disarmed them.

They ALL thought “It can’t happen here” – until they were disarmed and it started, then it was too late. Don't make the same mistake. Don't EVER let your government disarm you.

The Founders knew that government, if not constrained at every step, will continue to accumulate power and control until it becomes tyranny. That's why they feared standing armies and insisted that the "right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

"Never forget, even for an instant, that the one and only reason anybody has for taking your gun away is to make you weaker than he is, so he can do something to you that you wouldn’t let him do if you were equipped to prevent it. This goes for burglars, muggers, and rapists, and even more so for policemen, bureaucrats, and politicians." - Aaron Zelmanm

We all know Liberals really hate facts because anything that is based on truth and reality destroys their stance on any issue.

It is but a distraction. A misdirection to keep you from looking behind the curtain. Look at what their goal is and ask Why? With all these Communist Marxist in Congress trying so hard to disarm the People so they can Institute proselytized destruction of the American way of Life to one of their Choice, Not Ours.

Don't tell them the facts.....it messes with their utopian agenda.

    • anniedawn

If ignorance was bliss America would be Utopia! Mexican-Americans, Irish-Americans, Chinese-Americans? These people do not know the difference between RACE and NATIONALITY. Ship back to the first designated country. 170 million non-military persons were murdered AFTER their governments enacted and enforced gun control. What is Obama and his minions planning? GUN CONTROL. That is just the tip of the ice berg.

  • gbandy

Here's one some of you will
love!!!!! And some of you will hate!!!

    (A) The number of physicians in
    the U.S.
    is 700,000.

    (B) Accidental deaths caused by
    Physicians per year are 120,000.

    (C) Accidental deaths per
    physician is 0.171

    Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept.
    of Health and Human Services.

    Now think about this:

    (A) The number of gun owners in
    the U.S.
    is 80,000,000.

    (Yes, that's 80 million)

    (B) The number of accidental gun
deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.

    (C) The number of accidental
deaths per gun owner is .0000188

    Statistics courtesy of FBI

    So, statistically, doctors are
approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

    Remember, 'Guns don't kill
    people, doctors do.'

Almost everyone has at least one

This means you are over 9,000
times more likely to be killed by a doctor as by a gun owner!!!

Please alert your friends to this
    alarming threat.

We must ban doctors before this
    gets completely out of hand!!!!!

    Out of concern for the
public at large, we withheld the statistics on LAWYERS for fear the shock would
cause people to panic and seek medical attention

The anti-gunners seem to have forgotten that they had gun registration in Germany in the 30's. Hitler and his goons took the registration lists and rounded up the guns of all who opposed him effectively disarming his enemies. I believe things would have been a lot different in Nazi Germany if the Jews there had been able to shoot back.

the attack on our guns is easy to understand if you are a liberal dead brain. I am all for the second amendment as well as all of our freedoms, however I am very much against abortion and abortion clinics such as:planned parenthood. I not only believe in our rights but also the right of the unborn. I feel so very sorry to those in the attack and killing of little children in CT I have buried three daughters so I know how painful the loss of a child can be,however I feel the same about the poor little child that never even gets the chance to experience life.gun my misguided people not the problem.the problem is allowing people who are mentally deranged go without the care and medications needed.I know something about that also as I have a daughter who is parinoid scisophrnic and told nothing can be done if she does not want to take her medicine as she is an adult.think people before supporting eliminating gun.

  • Richard_B

323 murders were committed with rifles in 2011 while 496 were committed with hammers.

  • guest

Since, according to the article and the FBI reports, the majority of the violent crimes are committed in the urban and inner-city areas which voted overwhelmingly to re-elect Obama - thus voted democrat - maybe the solution would be to have a bill that would remove all guns from democrats... just saying!

  • alio

Violent crime is down, sick minded people is up. Could it be diet? Perhaps that many kids don't have a father anymore and mom's who pay no attention to them? Don't teach them about Jesus, don't go to church. Perhaps on drugs? Multiple reasons why there are so many lost souls, and these are the ones we have to be afraid of, not the guns.

  • NM Leon

A couple of other facts not mentioned in your excellent article:

Assuming for a moment that 100% of the rifles used in homicides in 2011 were "assault weapons". That would be:

    Assault weapons: 323
    Knives or cutting instruments: 1694
Blunt objects (clubs, hammers, etc.): 496
Personal weapons (hands, fists, feet, etc.): 728
    Other: 853
More homicides were committed with blunt objects than with "assault weapons", even making the ridiculous assumption that every rifle used in a homicide was an "assault weapon".

  • vincent

Just so you know the list of organizations, unions AND CHURCHES that are funding and advocating complete civilian disarmament:

Be very careful, as the public school mafia, liberal ministers, pediatricians and doctors will be very happy to spy on you and rat you out.

liberal lunatics DO NOT LIVE IN THE FACTUAL WORLD;; they suffer a mental disorder called "restless ego syndrome" just as Rush STATES: "THE LIB/LEFT IS NEVER HAPPY EVEN WHEN THE GET EVERYTHING THEY WANT;" they are actually social activist "NYMPHOMANIACS ;; they can NOT be satisfied, no matter how much they screw us.

  • Jack Parker

The areas with the highest gun violence are the areas with the toughest gun control laws. Irony, stupidity or terminal naivete?

  • John

This is an excellent article ! I had seen the YouTube video before. Just remember: GUN CONTROL is not about GUNS; it is about CONTROL. The left wants to CONTROL every aspect of your life without your having a say about it, whether it about how many sheets of tollet paper you may use, the kind of car you drive, the light bulbs in your lamps, etc. ad nauseam. Just say NO to lefty-loosies !

  • kingofblogging

i guess most dont notice the slip from "deaths caused by guns" to "violent crime rates" which skews the whole thing, nice try on this propoganda. the ruse is exposed, however

    • netandyawho

      Hey kingofballony,
You need to factor in fists, knives, baseball bats, hammers, axes, chainsaws, etc.Violent crime rates statistics show that when all weapons used are taken into account, guns are in the minority.

  • pduffy

The number of crimes thwarted with guns in never in the equation. But when you compare the crime rate in gun-banned countries, that's where the story is told. When criminals run the government, they makes laws that make life easier for their criminal trade.

  • http://www.facebook.com/barney.sieber Barney Sieber

Who will be coming to take the guns. I doubt if any of our law enforcement agencys will.

    • netandyawho

Don't bank on it. They are a whole lot of dumb people in law enforcement today that would just as soon kill you as to let you live. Maybe, not a majority, but pretty close to it. They are the same ones that shoot to kill by firing multiple rounds as opposed to those that shoot to disarm a knife wielding person, etc.

  • Born Skeptik

Wow... a causal relationship between gun ownership and violent crime. Is that what they taught you in college?

  • netandyawho

The only way the Assocrats can secure a life-time dictatorship for B. Hussein Obama is by making us defenseless.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Kaity927 Dorothy Duda

Why can't they get it through their thick heads there is no such thing as, "assault rifles, guns, nor weapons"! Can not go to any store to purchase anything labeled as as "assault", ask the experts. Just another stupid expression some one started saying and like the good little imitators you all are you are repeating the expression without questioning it. Same thing happened with "on the ground"; another idiotic expression which is finally on its way out of use.

Let's face it we have stupid, ignorant, easily misled leadership and all the hollering, writing, telephoning does no good anymore, they must be dumping and/or ignoring what we tell them so sure of themselves just like the mentally ill will say, 'nothing wrong with me', and believe it. Fortunately it is all being faithfully recorded and will be exposed In spite of Obama shredding everything in sight and it will all be in recorded history for the future to read. Unfortunately with Obama as an example can't count on anyone learning from history anymore especially when they do not read nor understand.
    God less us. All.

Bandwagoneers never let the facts get in the way of their screaming. I have said it since Columbine - if even one teacher, administrator, other type of school employee would have been armed, under proper conceal carry permits, many people, including children, would be alive today. Where do shooting occur? Gun free zones. Why do they occur? Generally, a person who is later (if they do not die) deemed mentally disabled in some way - case in point: the man who shot up a Korean Christian college in Oakland, CA has been deemed unfit to stand trial, legally insane, and will spend his time in Napa. Why isn't mental health being discussed, and PSA's put out by the same celebs, et al., that act violently in movies? Cause it's not as sexy as gun control. We need gun education, mental health education and violent leisure activities restricted. When guns are banned, and the left is happy, just wait until they get a nasty shock - similar to their paychecks being smaller this year.

Speaking of the frog in the pot theory- the UN and our compliant government has begun to implement Agenda 21. It takes away the rights of private citizens to own large parcels of land and live in rural areas and forces people back into the cities. They will determine who can use and have access to the land while we are living in boxes in the cities. We will be much more controlable then. Can't grow our own food, raise our own cattle, fish, or hunt for survival, build our own shelters. We will be totally dependent on the government to supply our food and needs. Look it up- Agenda 21-they have labeled its' programs under "sustainable" in order to make it more palatable to the public sheeple. It starts in your local government, so watch for it.

  • Gary Howell

I support the 2nd amendment, but it's my opinion that this article is irrelevant. The reason I think that is because liberals use their talking points merely as a way to hide their true agenda. They might talk about reducing crime or protecting children but those are only excuses. They don't actually care about them. What they really want is to confiscate your guns so that the government can rule over the people instead of rule by the people. To debate anti-gun advocates on an intellectual level about crime rates is like arguing to the wind because they don't actually care what the crime rate is. They only want to confiscate your constitutional rights. To win the argument, I believe, we need to debate them on their true agenda and stop getting distracting by their fictitious fronts.

  • http://www.facebook.com/andy.esposito.39 Andy Esposito

I read the statistics. There is no subset titled "assault rifles", you are inventing that. There are some handguns (6,220 deaths) and rifles that could be counted as "assault weapons" if we could all agree on what exactly is the definition, which I doubt will ever happen.

My oath was to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign or domestic. This time it is domestic. Re read the Declaration of Independence. We are way beyond the point where we drove King George back to England.

They are disarming the citizens for a reason, shit's about to hit the fan, and if people had more firepower than the enforcers, the planned events wouldn't be successful.

    America, good luck.
Not saying we're any safer up here in Canada. But your take-over is coming up soon.
