Misery Loves Democrats

Motor city is apparently the worse for the mileage liberals have put on it.

After almost five decades under a string of Democrat mayors, Detroit is now the most miserable city in the entire country, according to Forbes magazine, which ranked 200 of the largest metropolitan areas.

The cities were scored on crime rates, taxes, foreclosures, home prices, commute times, weather and decreasing populations.

The top ten most miserable cities are mostly run by Democrats:

1. Detroit, MI

2. Flint, MI

3. Rockford, IL

4. Chicago, IL

5. Modesto, CA

6. Vallejo, CA

7. Warren, MI

8. Stockton, CA

9. Lake County, IL

10.  New York, NY

That three of the top 10 miserable cities would be in California is no great surprise. The state has been run into the ground by a Democrat Legislature and governor who have raised taxes and driven businesses out of the state.

Stockton and Modesto are smack in the middle of the Central Valley, the former agricultural heartland that has been turned into a huge dustbowl because some liberal judge decided saving a non-native anchovy was more important than delivering water to farmers and ranchers.

Naturally they keep electing liberals.

In fact, most of the cities on the top ten list suffer from the same problem, the belief that electing the same sort of representatives over and over will garner different results.

Sadly, it's a problem we've seen repeated recently at the federal level.

Some people just never learn.

Misery does indeed love democrats, and I would be perfectly agreeable to that, if democrats would not try to inflict that misery upon all Americans, and would leave the patriotic, Christian, working Americans alone. Let us eat cake, and let them have Dee-troit. Pax vobiscum.

The study does seem awfully subjective, however. How can anyone, especially examining objectivity, take it seriously?

And what would you use as objective criteria to rank the livability of these cities? Perhaps the ease of obtaining government assistance or, the ability to vote without proof of eligibility. Or, maybe you think jobs just clutter up the pristine urban landscape. Some would think a masterfully captured photograph of an abandoned factory against a steel grey sky is a beautiful thing to behold. What are your thoughts?

        Crime statistics only.

        • cmorplante

That's not objective unless the only aspect to your life is whether or not you are a victim of crime. Now, I know that there is a widespread focus on victimhood these days but, even in the most egregious states the number of victims of violent crime are only around 600 per 100,000 and most states are well below that. If that statistic is the only criteria you not only miss all the underlying issues that drive that number but, you also miss out on life. You are identifying yourself as one who would give up freedom for safety and if that happens, you will have neither.

      Adam . . . you know all about "Lacking Objectivity" . . . I would suggest . . . read your stuff before . . .

"The cities were scored on crime rates, taxes, foreclosures, home prices, commute times, weather and decreasing populations." . . .

      Kind of sums it up I would suggest . . . how would you have done it . . . BY FEELINGS . . . . lol

Just as how Einstein defined insanity: "Doing the same things repeatedly and expecting different results".

  • patriotusa2

I could name a few more cities to add to that list that look like war zones and have just as many terrorists as the Middle Eastern countries.

Is this a confirmation that the upside of socialism is the equal sharing of misery?
