Outdoor Channel Blacklists Colorado Over Gun Control Laws

Living in the Southwest for most of my life, I’ve seen just how many people go to Colorado to hunt, fish, ski, hike, camp and sight see.  Combined together, these activities generate millions of dollars for businesses as well as the state government.

Yet, the controlling Democrats are willing to lose a large portion of that revenue and place many businesses in jeopardy, just to push Obama’s anti-gun policies.  A couple of major businesses are already looking to relocate out of the state because of the recently passed and newly proposed anti-gun laws.

Now, the Outdoor Channel, a very popular cable network for hunters, fishermen and outdoors type people, has notified the Colorado Senate Republican Caucus that they are prepared to pull all of their productions out of the state if the anti-gun laws are passed.  Currently, the Outdoor Channel has four cable program series being produced in Colorado, including their most popular program ‘Gun Stories.’

Michael Bane, executive producer and host of Outdoor Channel, sent an email to State Sen. Steve King (R-Grand Junction) stating in part:

“This morning I met with my three Producers, and we made the decision that if these antigun bills become law, we will be moving all of our production OUT of Colorado. We have already cancelled a scheduled filming session for late this month. Obviously, part of this is due to our own commitment to the right to keep and bear arms, but it also reflects 3 lawyers' opinions that these laws are so poorly drafted and so designed to trap otherwise legal citizens into a crime (one of our attorneys referred to them as "flypaper laws") that it is simply too dangerous for us to film here.”

“I can give you chapter and verse on the legal implications if you need, but suffice to say that the first legal opinion was so scary we went out and got two others. Al three attorneys agreed.”

“We are relatively small potatoes in television, but our relocation of production will cost Colorado a little less than a million dollars in 2013.”

“Secondly, we have proudly promoted Colorado in our productions (and have been moving more and more production into the state); now we will do exactly the opposite. What does this mean for Colorado? The community of television producers is a small one. Last week I had lunch with a major network producer who was looking to locate his new reality series in Colorado. That producer is also a shooter, and the new reality series will now be based out of Phoenix. That lunch cost Colorado over a million in economic impact.

“Thirdly, according to numbers I received from the National Shooting Sports Foundation (for whom I used to work) yesterday, hunting had an almost $800,000,000 impact on Colorado in 2012, driving as many as 8330 jobs. Next month I will be in Texas meeting with most of the top outdoor/hunting producers, and the Number One agenda item will be Colorado. Already, hunting organizations and statewide hunting clubs around the country are pulling out of Colorado, and we expect this trend to accelerate rapidly.”

“The message we will take to our viewers and listeners is that these proposed laws are so dangerous to hunters and any other person, be she a fisherman or a skier who brings a handgun into the state for self-defense, that we cannot recommend hunting, fishing or visiting Colorado. We reach millions of people, and, quite frankly, we have a credibility that Colorado government officials can no longer match. Colorado Division of Wildlife is already running ads trying to bring more out-of-state hunters to Colorado...in light of the flood of negative publicity about these proposed laws, I can assure you those ads will fail.”

We estimate that as many as one-quarter to one-third of out-of-state hunters will desert Colorado in the next 18-24 months, which will quite frankly be a disaster for the hunting industry in Colorado and have a devastating effect on our western and northern communities (certainly like Grand Junction).”

Sen. King spoke out against the pending anti-gun laws saying:

“These radical bills demonstrate that penalizing law-abiding gun owners harms not only Colorado hunters, but it also damages the economy. If these bills pass, Colorado will become known as an unfriendly state toward sportsmen and will force other producers across the country to consider other states.”

Sen. Bill Cadman (R-Colorado Springs), Minority Leader in the state senate also spoke out saying:

“The Democrats are taking their marching orders from extreme liberal New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and are ignoring the people who voted for them. He has promised to ‘pay’ for their support of his agenda in the coming elections. He (Bloomberg) has now become the de-facto head of the Democrat party and the de-facto Governor of Colorado. This is a sad day for our state, and could be a very sad day for the Constitution.”

First the gun companies threaten to leave, taking hundreds of jobs and a million dollars’ worth of revenue and now the Outdoor Channel not only is planning on leaving, but is about to launch a campaign to turn people and millions of dollars away from Colorado.  But will it be enough to cause the Democratic leadership to stop their insanity?  I suspect not!  They are so hell bent on promoting their anti-gun agenda, that they won’t care how much money or how many jobs it will cost the people of Colorado.

Just like Obama, it’s not what the people want or what’s best for the people; it’s the personal agenda that takes priority.  Once Obama gets some guns banned, he won’t stop until they are all banned and once that happens, he will launch his hostile military takeover of the US and free America will disappear forever.

WOO-HOO! A big kudos to the Outdoor Channel for taking a stand! I hope they do the same in all the states where they are trying to get these laws passed.

Now, if only more businesses will do the same.

If they could separate themselves from Denver they would do all right. Besides this article does miss one thing. We will not go gently in to the long winters night.

those companies can move to Wyoming,WE LIKE GUNS,"assault"rifles,"assault" pistols,"assault" magazines, hell we even like "assault" fishing poles"assault" hooks & "high powered"bows.besides,I think the majority of people in Co right now are from california, they've been moving in for 20 years.

        • podunk1

THANK YOU OUTDOOR CHANNEL! We all need to wake up & stop enriching the left wing nuts who literally hate God, Country, and anyone who actually works & enjoys doing something productive! Stop sending your children to their perverted movies. Take them to a gun range to learn to shoot, get good at trap & skeet, - respect self protection & hunt & learn how to be self sufficient. One will never be able help or protect anyone if they can't instinctively do it for themselves & family!

are you down there?you know what I mean then, gun bans, illegals, high taxes are headed your way!!! that & really crazy drivers.crazier than normal anyway.had to live & travel there & it's bad ft.collins-co spgs(they change their lic plates fast).

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NLORN6B3ZNGCAJTFHWWFUUEY4Q jong

I believe every thing except the drivers. I learned on the NJ Garden State Park Way. 80 miles an hour bumper to bumper. I now live in Michigan and we are now taking care of business. Right to work and now the take over of Detroit (over the screams of racism etc.)

        • patriot2

I feel for you,my guess is compared to detroit denver is a model city!!!

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NLORN6B3ZNGCAJTFHWWFUUEY4Q jong

I have also lived in Denver and it is as bad as Chicago. The police there run the crime including drugs. They would drag a person walking down the street that was minding their own business. Denver unfortunately never really had a mob in it. Look up Buster Snyder and his shooting innocents for years. Wellington Web who was mayor was just as crooked as any one in Detroit. Both Denver and Aurora are very bad with the police running rough shod over everyone. Including the Denver County Sheriff Dept. whom they do not consider to be law officers.

        • patriot2

I travel in Wy & no. Co & carry in case I find a rabbit.don't go to denver without for any reason.

        • James Tabone

True, California's outreach has extended out into Nevada, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, and now has taken over Colorado. I am also concern that California's influence has entered into our own Texas Hill Country from Marble Falls east to liberal bastion Austin, Texas. Our large Texas urban areas are heavily demoncrapic who largely voted for the Kenyan.

        • patriot2

thats too bad,I like the hill country,I was hatched at Lackland.most relatives in the area don't like the kenyan either.best beer & mesquite BBQ around,at least it used to be.last time I was down there I tried to OD on Shiner Bock, just lost weight.

      • Cincinnatus

Denver, Pueblo, and Alamosa are nothing but L.A. East, filled with fibberals to the brim who'll vote in zombie mode until they realize they've voted themselves into oblivion because the party they idolize ceased to exist way back when Mr. Peanut took office.

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NLORN6B3ZNGCAJTFHWWFUUEY4Q jong

I am surprised about Pueblo. It use to be a retirement area for the mob and they believe it or not are very conservative.

Sorry to disagree, Atheist, but they really like the freedom to kill the unborn, kind of like an "unintended consequence" of sex without responsibility. They can't be responsible and project their deficiency on to those of us who are willing to protect life at all costs. See the difference? They make their "choice" freely but we shouldn't . . .

that is true. When tax receipts fall they will be right back in session ready to generate another "tax the feelthy rich" bill and push up the gasoline and liquor and cigarette taxes.......

        • NRApatriot

Why are you wasting your time talking with an atheist? They are as evil as a liberal democrat! And moderate republicans aren't far behind!

        • James Tabone

The biggest problem with those so-called democrats is their lack of morality and civility.

      • TrueGrit

Because they are the party of the United Nations and it comes with international laws and dont feel we should have American rights only what the United Nations says. Remember the U.N. wants to have a world gov't. and they cant take over our country because of all of the guns we Americans own. Im for keeping our independent republic and fighting the New World Order and its corrupt international mafia.

        • NRApatriot

The republic has been fading away slowly since F.D.R. became the first socialist president! We should demand our leaders kick the U.N. out of our country and stop wasting the taxpayers money on an organization that wants nothing less than the destruction of our once great republic! Nikita Kruschev once said that the communist would not have to fire one shot to take down our country because they would defeat us from within! Unfortunately you can see it happening now and we must put a stop to it by every means possible including excersizing our 2nd amendment rights for what the founders put it in for! Charging and convicting the POTUS and his entire administration of treason and the appropriate penalty of hanging until dead would be a good start! I am all in favor of isolationism! We can and have before taken care of ourselves! To hell with the rest of the world! The church has failed miserably in the commission Jesus gave it and is the primary reason for what is happening now! After studying biblical prophecy for the last 16 years I can find no mention of the U.S. in it! Russia, Germany,China and all the countrys around Israel are but not us. I see several possible scenarios for this none of which are very comforting and all painful but my hope is the citizen patriots will rise up and take their government back by force if nesscessary! Obummer is preparing for that by his order for 2 billion rounds of ammunition for DHS and the firing of military commanders who said they would not fire upon American citizens! Put nothing past this child of Lucifer that calls himself president! A lot of people laugh at the preppers on TV but maybe they know something the rest of the country doesn't? The European Union is the revived Roman Empire spoken of in last days prophecy and encompasses all the countrys Rome occupied at the time of Jesus and is a precursor of the new world order to come. According to prophecy the world is going to get its one world government but it will not last very long! At the end of the seven year tribulation period our Lord is coming back and judging it and will rule the nations with a rod of iron for 1000 years from His throne in Jerusalem! A whole lot of us do not value our lives over the cause of freedom and are willing to die for it if it comes to that! LIVE FREE OR DIE!!!

Fred, the problem that Colorado has is that far too many Californians, after screwing their state up are fleeing that cesspool and moving to Colorado and have started making another California out of Colorado. That by definition is insanity ( continue doing the same thing and expecting different results). They are too stupid to learn because they were indoctrinated in Government schools.

God believes in free will and also self defense. I know this because He gave mankind free will and he also gave every living thing the right to defend itself from agression. Obama wants to take freedom and our guns from us. So let's dispense with the wishy-washy christianess and stand bold in our Christianity, and call a spade a spade. The Lord frowns on Obama and his policies, IMHO. God bless America and put her enemies beneath her feet. By the way, if you did not catch the subtleness of it. Obama, per his policies and actions, is the domestic enemy of the U.S.

To answer your question, they will never stop. They are progressive socialists. That means that they can push hard and gain only one step forward for them, then come back later and take another step. The progressive socialists have been at the work of destroying this country for over a hundred years now, and they are on the verge of accomplishing their goal. The only thing that can stop them now is most likely bloodshed. Don't give up your guns, you may yet need them.

The Texas legislature is now questioning the Texas State Board of Education and their methodology in selecting a company, CSCOPE I believe it is called, which prevents parental intervention in subjects being taught that maybe injurious to children. Several of our legislatures have put this controversial teaching system on the fast track for non funding and termination. By the way it is run by a very liberal individual/individuals based out of California.

Silly 'sheeples' they don't know that Kali has protected the Cormorants(water turkey) so's there's no more trout in the river? Sad, 1st the metros outlawed hunting or even data collecting on cougar. So their populations spiked and the deer were decimated, so hunting was restricted. Of course lots of deer-n-cougar populations starved, but still few hunters returned. It's a coming Colorado, those libs will get all feelie for the wolves/mtn lion/bear and your rich hunting heritage will dry up.

While I whole-heartedly agree with your sentiments, Garrey, you really should type your message into a word processing document that has spell- and grammar-check capabilities. THEN, cut and paste it here or elsewhere.

    • baron987

Not to promote any movie, I don't work as a publicist for anyone, but watch the movie "Obama's 2016" - there is no need to buy it - your library may have it - it will show you how smart he is and his AGENDA - he wants to destroy America. Remember what he said - He wants to FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGE America!

  • silvernotes

The problem is Obama and his demees do not care about economics or the Constitution. They care about disarming America in order to gain control of people so the social agenda can be progressed. It is not enough that we retreat and dig new trenches. We must fight the agenda at every cornor and delay until new elections. Congress has proven they will do nothing to stop his illegal activities, even it it means taking some congressional powers from Congress. If we don't, there will be a revolt against the government.

    • baron987

Money talks - Americans can strangle any State, County, etc by Moving Out and taking their money with them.

Anticipate that liberals will attempt to impose confiscatory 'exit tax' penalties soon.

        • baron987

THEY ALREADY HAVE! I believe that New Jersey HAS an EXIT tax - if you sell your house and move to another state, you have to pay a tax!

        • Daniel F. Melton

I didn't know it was possible to sell a house in New Jersey.

      • silvernotes

The problem is at some point there will be no more states to relocate to...then what do you do? It's too late. Nope, gotta strike the line and defend it.

  • grammy23

I live in Grand Junction and my husband, two older sons, extended family and many friends hunt. This is truly sad. All the law-abiding gun owners are being punished not because of one crazed wacko in Aurora but because he opened the door and gave them the excuse they needed. Our economy still hasn't recovered completely from the over-reach of Gov't over drilling and now they want to hurt gun dealers and anyone attached. Will they be posting rangers at the shooting range looking for 30 round clips for my AR-15? Do I need to carry a receipt to prove I purchased it prior to their dumb*ss law going into effect? Steve King is an honorable man who I believe will do everything in his power to try to convince these idiots but there are just too many democrats on the "front range" to offset the rest of us in smaller areas.

It is not only the Outdoor Channel but about 6 other businesses in Colorado that are leaving and taking 1500 jobs with them! Speciality Sports, a gun shop in Colorado Springs, along with the Outdoor Channel was the latest along with MagPul, Alfred Industries and others to say if the governor does NOT veto the bills, they will leave and take millions of dollars in taxes and revenue with them.

Hunters, tourists and other businesses are writing that they will NOT visit Colorado and leave dollars behind them. Citizens are packing up and leaving CO to go to Utah, Wyoming, Texas and Montana.

Hickenlooper said when campaigning that he was for the Second Amendment -seems he is just another lying Democrat! Please call and ask him to veto the bills or resign! tel:303-866-2471

The Sheriff of El Paso County, Co., Terry Maketa has gone to the state AG and asked for an investigation of Bloomberg and Biden for "trying to influence public officials." He did this AFTER he and other sheriff's in the state were threatened by the legislators that they will withhold their pay! Here is where you can find the podcast: http://proteinwisdom.com/?p=47917

The Democrats in the state should all be in jail and all should be tried for treason! John Morse, a member of the GLTB community and head of the state senate in the Co. state legislature said on the Rachel Maddow show for his senators to "ignore" the constituents and do what they needed to do! Ignore the ones who put them in office? Ignore their constitutional oaths? Bow down to Bloomberg and Biden and kiss their a**?

I think and blame Morse for being a traitor and do not think he is fit for office. I blame Colorado voters including Independents and Republicans who sat out this last election for the loss of freedom which the anti-gun bills will bring to Colorado. I blame those who voted for a "third" party candidate and who can now can see that elections have consequences but they still say, I voted for MY principles!

That these voters or non voters don't realize is that their rights under the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are being shot to hell by Democrats at the state and national levels as well and it shows that they shouldn't be allowed to vote period! They do NOT cherish the Constitution and the effort it took to get it! Too many were raised in a progressive school system where they didn't even have to read the Constitution or talk about it!

The fools who voted without any knowledge behind them or who didn't realize that their votes could result in a loss of freedom don't deserve to vote or live here in the once free United States. They should be rounded up and sent to say...Kenya or other countries where there is little to NO freedom. they like government control - go get it folks. China or North Korea would LOVE you!

These kind of voters totally disgust me! The state Democrats who ignore their oaths and constituents disgust me! Colorado ought to lose ALL business and let the state sink - perhaps then stupid people will realize that voting has consequences and should take it seriously! Thanks to Godfather for publishing this article! We need more media sources like you!

    • JoeBideyourtime

Sounds like the citizens of Colorado need to have recall elections.

    • DenverKitty

cola: I'm in Aurora, Colorado, and I'm packin' for Texas. We Conservatives are surrounded by democrat politicians...there's been voter fraud here, too...and it looks to be a downhill slide from here on in.

    • jenny

DITTO! Low information voters are what is wrong with this country. THEY ARE LAZY, IGNORANT and do not care what is really going on in this country. IF THEY DID, they would educate themselves and make sure they know what is really going on. Talk about disgust...when I see reporters, whether it be for laughs or what, when they go up to citizens and ask them IMPORTANT QUESTIONS like how they feel about what happened in Benghazi or the sequester or the national debt and those low information voters have not a single clue as to what they are being asked, that right there tells you why this country is in the shape it is in. THAT IS DISGUSTING! Those stupid democrats who go to the polls and are told to vote a democrat ticket and they do, well they are followers and they are lazy, too lazy to do their due diligence to research and inform themselves of the issues and how their representatives stand on those issues. They are told who hates them and who not to trust, yet they trust the politicians of the democrat party blindly. They are so ignorant that they will vote democrat regardless of whether that democrat is unethical, or has no integrity, they will still vote for them. They are told how to vote, what to think and what to do. The low information voters are too incompetent, too lazy and too stupid to think for themselves and as long as those low information voters go to the polls and follow orders, our country is lost as there are beginning to be more takers than makers this day and age. It is a sad situation and I fear for the future of my country because of the nanny state and the shear number of leeches who feel they are entitled to everything in life for nothing and and expecting the working class to support their every want and need! How frikkin' stupid does a liberal have to be to think it is okay that the democrats want the national debt clock kept out of sight so their ignorant low information voters will not know just HOW IN DEBT THE POLITICIANS & 0BAMA HAVE GOTTEN US IN TO? I know the answer....

      • celticwaryor

So Jenny, what's your take on low information voters? LOL Good post!

a lot of the problem is the kalifornication of colorado! you allowed them to move in and take over!

  • rycsailor

I used to consider Colorado part of the West, but I've revised my opinion. It is now a bastion of the transplanted California liberals and the misguided migrant Easterners from Bloomberg land. I've enjoyed my travels there in times past, but it no longer wants my type.....so be it, there are still alternatives.

  • disqus_pHlizP9z8y

I applaud the Outdoor Channel for what it is doing - standing up for personal rights in this tyrannical state. Unfortunately I live there but I am working to move to AZ where individual rights are still sacred. I worked in the ski industry for 38 years and will not now attempt to "sell" Colorado skiing. In fact, if you want good skiing go to Utah.

  • elmcqueen3

The best thing for all us Coloradans to do is to "Boycott" Colorado...Nex time you are hunting, fishing or camping and you see an out of state license plate number...Explain to the occupants that Colorado is an anti gun state and that Colorado sportsmen and hunters are boycotting Colorado and if they wouldn't mind cleaning up and leaving for another state...Encourage them to do their hunting, fishing and camping in another state...Same with tourist...Ask them not to patronize Colorado but to go else where...Same with the out of staters who come here to ski...Discourage them...Ask them not to ski in Colorado...The next best thing for we as Coloradans can do is to stop buying hunting and fishing licesnse's for the next 5 years...If you poach don't get caught...Same with fishing...Same with camping...
Anything that has to do with sports and or boating...Same deal...Stop buying yearly permits for your ATV and or Boats...Let em sit for a couple years and don't use them....Do what ever one can to limit the amount of cash brought in by tourism, etc...Stop paying for permits and fees, etc....Boycotting Colorado is a must...Come next election those democrats who ram rodded these gun bills down our throats with their practices of corruption and influence peddling must be voted out of office.. Enough is enough of their commie rhetoric...Colorado Democratic Senators and law makers are the devils advocate...They are evil persons who care not for what good they can do for Colorado but theyonly care for their own political power and practices of graft and corruption..They are horrible people!

    • DenverKitty

  • kenhowes

This gun control has, of course, nothing to do with hunting except indirectly. This is very directly connected to the recent order, reported by the Denver Post--hardly a Republican paper--by the Department of Homeland Security of 1.6 billion bullets and 2,717 armored combat vehicles. That's five bullets for every man, woman and child in the United States; it's more of an armored force than Hitler invaded France with in 1940. The administration is disarming the public and arming an armed force that is not within the ordinary military chain of command. If there are any Democrats left like John C. Calhoun and L.Q.C. Lamar, it is time to put your party affiliation aside and stop what is the beginning of a totalitarian state! And Republicans must stand absolutely firm. This is no time to sign away gun rights--when a new SS is being organized.

    • http://www.facebook.com/phrank.stein Phrank Stein

Considering that the average cop has a 2.3% hit rate 5 bullets mean that they will probably still miss you.

I suggest that you read up on the numbers of bullets ordered over the next decade and what it really breaks down to (Patriot News had an article on it). Approximately 529/year for each federal officer. Hell that is one months of practice ammo for a true shooter.
Get off the Alex Jones Kool-Aid and so some independent thought or you come off looking as stupid as the libtards you claim to hate.

      • kenhowes

529 per officer a year? Are you saying that DHS has 302,457 armed personnel, based on the 1.6 billion being a ten-year supply? Why does it have that many? That's larger than the Marine Corps.
In my ten years in the Army, the only year in which I fired 529 rounds--and it was probably just barely that--was the year I was in basic training. And my hit rate was closer to 80%; over 90% at 200 meters or less. If their hit rate is 2.3%, I'd say nobody ever really taught most of them to shoot.

And your explanation of 2717 armored vehicles? What does DHS need 2717 armored vehicles for? Hitler took France with about 2400.

  • DemBasher

There are other places in Colorado to visit. Southeast Colorado has many tourist attractions. We have Picture Canyon, Crack Cave, Picketwire. Check us out before you give up on Colorado. Don't hurt all of our state for what some stupid idiots are doing to us. Most law abiding Coloradans will now become criminals but someone has to enforce these laws.

      • DenverKitty

teresa, Colorado, ALL of Colorado, has become a sinkhole of liberalism. Southern Colorado, from Fountain to Pueblo ANYWHERE south is mexican...hot, dry, dusty, nasty mexican. Yeah, tourist attractions...boarded up shops, mexican dive bars, and a Walmart that closes at midnight (some places 10 p.m.) because of rampant theft. Check it out, I'm telling the truth!

John, DIA is a mess, and the big fat negro women they hire to "police" the "you can't stop here' to unload and load" passengers ALL need to be FIRED. They make our airport "user unfriendly"!

This is an awesome article. I am soooo impressed with a business sector that will make decisions based on principle. Just think if we could organize such a shut down in other states. I would really like to see free enterprise shut down MSNBC, CNN, ABC, etc, etc. Couldn't we call for the removal of said channels from our cable companies or we will pull the plug on the cable that runs into our living rooms. Couldn't that be done on Facebook or Twitter? I'm in if someone wants to organize it.

Personal agenda?? Sounds more like the republican mantra. It's sheer lunacy to blame everything on Obama. Ignorance here is only exceeded by its stupidity. Maybe someone forgot where one of the deadliest shootings occurred - Colorado. Most of the wing-nuts here want to live in the 1800's and play Lone Ranger and Jessie James. The article would have had a little more credibility had the had at least 1 or 2 references and quotes from the other side. And FYI, it's not just Dem's that want some of the gun madness curtailed, but many good republicans. Maybe what many people here need to do is seek a really good mental health professional and maybe take their medication for their paranoia.. All have a great day!!

    • parkerglp

Go back to mommy's basement and smoke your dope, you Obama-loving troll!!!!!

    • sunnyblues

Please. May I use a tired but true over-quoted statement: It is not guns that kill people, it is people who kill people. How dare you call responsible Americans who are fighting back and who have the RIGHT to bear arms ignorant or stupid. And talk about agenda. Whose agenda has started this whole crazy governmental power grab to destroy our Constitution and our very way of life? If you don't like guns, don't own one. But don't tell those who do that we must bow down to emperor obama and give up our God-given rights to live free! Perhaps you should read our Constitution and our Bill of Rights before you spout off against those who are fighting to preserve it. Oh, and by the way, I live in Colorado and have seen this state go down the tubes since the dems started taking their marching orders from obama in stead of from the people of this once great state. It is truly disgusting.

    • Daniel F. Melton

When it's not "o"boy and his liberal minions, we'll blame those responsible. The state libs are taking their marching orders from washington.

The 1800s had less gunplay and crime simply because nearly everyone was armed.

Do you have any proof that living, breathing Republicans support gun control?

Your statement that "Maybe what many people here need to do is seek a really good mental
health professional and maybe take their medication for their paranoia." is typlib effrontery. The former soviet union used "mental health professionals" as you advocate. Anyone that did not support collective society had to be insane and hospitalized to "protect" them, and the subject population from counterrevolutionary ideas.

    • baron987

Law-abiding citizens are the ONLY ones affected by more Gun Laws - GET IT? - LAW-ABIDING Citizens! - Someone who is a criminal or a nut WILL BREAK THE LAW!!!! A Law-Abiding Citizen is the one who is punished - PS: I don't own a gun!

    • http://www.facebook.com/pizzed.off Pizzed Off

Glad I don't know you, you hypocritical little pin-headed pr*k! The ONLY real ignorance being shown here is by pin-headed idiots like you who have absolutely no understanding of the Constitution and Bill of Rights other than what your socialist handlers fed you about your right to "free speech". Well, mjritter, it wasn't "free", it isn't "free", and it never will be "free", since others have died, are dying, and will die so a.....h....es like you can spout. So, you've spouted. What's needed is for you to learn something about what you obviously are so ignorant of that you'd stink out anyplace that had a discussion of US History.
I noted one thing... you said, "but many good republicans" whereas you didn't say anything about the overwhelming majority of Democrats being about equal to a cowpie freshly cr*pped. Guess your ommission is better than your commission.

  • mgfred52

I can't wait to see what happens in the states that ban firearms, in two to three years when all the little animals like wolfs, bears, mountain lion and who knows what else start coming out of the woods looking for food since there are NO HUNTERS keeping them from reaching breeding limits, no GOOD PARENT WOULD LET THEIR CHILDREN PLAY IN THE YARD FOR FEAR OF THEM BEING CARRIED OFF BY SOME HUNGRY Animal.

I grew up in Colorado. My family went deer & elk hunting every fall. I obtained my hunter safety card as soon as I was of age. After college, my new job took me to California, where I've resided for 25 years. I return to Colorado 2 or 3 times a year to visit family, ski or vacation. Other than visiting family once every year or two, my family will ski and vacation in Utah - a state equally as beautiful, but much more in line with our values.

  • Seven Bears

Sad state of affairs in Colorado. When I was a boy growing up near Grand Junction back in the late 1950's I attended Appleton school between Grand Junction and Fruita and lived on a small farm out on 24 Road. some of us boys would bring our 22 rifles to school and leave them in the principal's office until school was out and then hunt "Magpies" of the way home as we walked through the fields between school and where we lived. Some of the local farmers would pay us a nickel a head for every bird we brought them, as they were a nuisance to the fruit trees and other crops. I could usually bag enough birds to buy another box of 22 shorts and have enough left over for some candy and a soda. Things have really gone downhill.

    • grammy23

Not everything has changed. There's still lots of open land, especially around Fruita (known for it's world-class mtn biking now) and Palisade with it's vineyards and orchards. Not all is lost. We are still majority conservatives it's just those dumba**e* in Denver.About 2 yrs ago a kid at Central HS forgot he had his rifle in his truck and I think he got 3 days suspension. Had it been NY or CA they probably would have jailed him.

Liberalism kills people and states. Once your state is infected it's just a matter of time until you end up like Detroit and Chicago. The liberals have ruined many good states; Oregon, Washington State, and now Colorado. One day the liberals will drown in their own excrement and you will to if you don't leave or chase them back to the west coast.

Great move "Outdoor Channel." I agree wholeheartedly with your decision. Yeah what does Michael Bane care about all the children in Colorado who have been killed with his precious guns? And precious they are. He's making buckets of cash helping killers get machine guns. And for the ever cretinous da Tagliare, yesterday's Colorado state Senate vote is all about Obama. Couldn't have anything at all to do with the Columbine and Aurora massacres or the day in, day out gun violence that afflicts the citizens of Colorado. Nooooooooooooo. In any case Bane and da Tag got their answer from the legislature yesterday.Colorado sports shooters lose nothing in these long overdue gun laws and they know it. Pack up your tiny taters and go Bane. Far away. Nobody cares. Just don't come back.

Oh I'm quite serious. Nobody in Colorado gives a flying f-word if this Michael Bane gun nut packs up and goes - and the proof of that was the vote in the legislature. The only thing lower than people like Bane are people like you who apologize for it all.

Out so far the stench of there presence can't be smelled in Colorado anymore. I suppose it's too much to ask, if this governor had half a brain he'd veto all this legislation.
And Tell the state legislator they need to rethink what they're doing.

The Governor of Colorado and New York State with the exception of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg [A member of the American Communist Party] should read the "Declaration of Independence" and learn about the makings of a tyrant? Mayor Bloomberg has already proven himself as being a "dictator." Imagine him telling me what I shouldn't eat and drink or own a gun. These tyrannical acts are the makings of a dictator plain and simple. Don't forget that this comdian came in posing as a Republican.

Remember Colorado is now over run by former Californians and they have brought sufficient left leaning people to transform a formerly conservative state into liberal wasteland. Californians need to stay in California. I'm pleased that Outdoor Channel is taking this stand.

This is great news! This coupled with gun makers, ammo producers and firearms suppliers not doing business with the federal govt. and renegade states, which are threatening gun rights, maybe we will see many democrat politicians looking for employment, after the 2014 elections and the voting public has their chance to get a pound of flesh from them!!

Gun owners are a little over 1/3 of the population of America. WE have our rights being taken away and we are vilified by liberals in government and liberals in unholywood. The question that we need to ask our self is " what do we do to protect our rights" and the answer is "MONEY" Do not spend one penny in a state that wants to take your right to own a gun away. Do not watch a movie that the stars are anti gun. Do not buy a music CD or I tune or pay to down load a song of stars that are anti gun. If a store you go to decides to no longer carry weapons ammo or accessories boycott them.Since we are over 1/3 of the population that means we make up 1/3 of the buying public that is power of the dollar and we need to use it to the fullest extent. Why would any person support States, Towns, Company's Groups of people that want to deny you your right.Lets make our minds up to do the right thing lets break them.
We must take our money from them. Do not support people that want to take away your rights. If you don't take a stand you just make it easier for them to deny you your rights, Wake up and lets take our country back.

  • WhiteFalcon

Wyoming is a state that can provide the Outdoor Channel everything that Colorado does and there isn't a state income tax there I believe, so they wouldn't have to go far in their move. Montana is another state that might be considered. I liked Wyoming tha last time I was there and have considered moving out there. I used to like Colorado, but I don't now. People in Colorado can put an end to all this in their next election if they want to.

There is a hidden message in there, whether or not the Federal government attempts to take over Colorado, the state is prime for a dramatic increase in crime. Of course, this may require them to spend a heck of a lot more money in the hiring of even more police officers and a permanent and restrictive "curfew" on the residents who still live there.

If the Governor signs these new laws he is s hypocrite. When he ran for office he said he was a 2nd amendment supporter. Attack the court system. If you are on a jury for any BS charges related to the new laws vote NOT GULITY. Use the power of "JURY NULLIFICATION" to stop the law. Yes juries can make a law nullified by this means. Pass this on to everyone you know especially in Colorado.

    • mudguy1

Just hope we get informed people on our juries and not the low informed people on the juries. Our schools have not educated the people on how important the jury is in our country. There are very few students that graduate from high school that know the importance of the jury and why it is so important. Most only know how to get out of jury duty.

  • dad666

Nanny Bloomberg is already getting his lessons in disgust. Thecourts in New York just declared his bi gulp ban ILLEGAL. Step one. HOPEFULLY more companies will leave this state, more revenue lost. This state needs to lose MANY MILLIONS in revenue each and every yr. People going to other states to look for jobs, let this entire state turn in a big, massive, falling apart, abandoned homes, businesses concrete jungle like Detroit. Nothing but a big liberal entitlement state, that's exactly what's happening when people from Mexifornia started moving here, establishing their dim lib entitlement thinkings, agendas. There's not 1 single conservative running for the city council seat in the area of co sprgs that i'm in. 1 is actually a convicted felon. So come on businesses! line up infront of tv cameras, tell the state you guys are leaving the state, taking jobs with you! ". . . and free America will disappear forever." Before that happens I would hope the people who would cause such an event would be hunted down if but with torches and pitchforks only.

We must expend every effort to make the elected representatives aware of the price of attacking our Rights and our Liberties. Then, we must fight as hard as we can to defeat each and every politician regardless of political party who would violate these Freedoms.

"If you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." -- Winston Churchill

I've lived in colorado for 16 years or better. This will be my last year. About 4 years ago they hiked vehicle registration "fees" The plates that used to cost 25 dollars now cost 70. They hike the costs of
hunting and fishing licenses every year. Passing laws that make it outright dangerous, from a legal standpoint, for me to own a weapon and outlaw items I already own making me a criminal is the last straw for this sorry state. Goodbye Colorado, Good luck. Hello Wyoming, its good to be back.

Good for them. The Gun-Grabbers are also the same ones who will refuse to enact strict PUNISHMENT for those who choose to commit crimes. Too often, people forget that crime is a CHOICE. There just are not enough penalties for those folks who feel it necessary to rob, brutalize or kill honest citizens.

  • robert smith

The United States was born on the lives of the men and women who died for GOD and Freedom. Their sacrifice is written into every word of the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence. Since that time American Men and Women have continued to sacrifice their lives to keep America free. Any U.S. Citizen who does not support or believe in the lives lost to keep this Great Country Free and the documents which bore this nation are not AMERICANS. They should be branded as traitors (A person who commits treason by betraying his or her country) and charged with TREASON.

  • robert smith

Just like we have volunteer firefighters across this great nation, I believe it is important that every town, every city, every county that believes in supporting the Constitution and the Bill of Rights should designate every person in their district who is 18 years or older a voluntary Law Inforcement Officer and if needed can be called upon to protect their fellow citizens against criminals; be they a person(s) or the government.

If you live in Colorado you need to understand that socialism, communism or collectivenism leads to proverty. Look at Mexico or any S. American country the masses live in proverty. While the governments live in luxury. Those that voted for these communist democrats and the communist president because he gave you s cell phone or food stamps or I've heard because he's black is not why you vote for government. Having a job and cheaper energy you can get you're own $20.00 a month phone. Good jobs are hard to get because this president makes sure he hurts all industries like he's doing in this article. When the BP oil spill happened he shut down the oil drilling for no reason but they lost 30, 000 jobs overnight. Obama grows more evil everyday. Now the communist democrats want to take away your guns and free speech. He's stock piling Ammo with Depart of homeland security at the tune of hundreds of millions of hollow bullets and only employing military that will shoot Americans.

I say divide the country into two camps liberals(commucrats) in one and conservatives in the other and see who survives.

  • JEButler

No doubt there is a definite divide and it goes beyond political affiliation when it is about guns. There is a very small majority of anti gunners who have pushed political correctness to the edge and now will see the actual numbers in the elections who is and isn’t pro gun. It reminds me of California and the other states that tried to push Gay Marriage with a referendum vote, once the curtain closed the “political correctness” was left on the other side! You will see this again. They will say they favor it just so they aren’t attacked by the media and public lead by the small number of left wing raTicals, but come election day, the curtain will be closed!! See and believe!! Don’t believe the hype, stand on your beliefs!! These companies will be rewarded beyond what they will lose!

  • sbradybunch

I am proud of the Outdoor Channel for standing up and saying "Enough". I think we will all start having to put our money where our values are and support businesses who stand for what we believe in. Our money we spend ( or don't spend) will speak louder than we can to businesses and our oblivious politicians! The people in our country who are actually making money and paying taxes have been ignored long enough. Political correctness has become a heavy burden - our values count, too.

  • Nam1

That's what's so great about America,if you don't like how your particular state is being run you can pack up and move. I applaud the Outdoor Channel for their stance and encourage more businesses to do likewise.
