Aiding and Abetting the Enemy

Years past, many of America’s most successful military missions were those that had been kept secret.  The element of surprise can be a huge factor in the outcome of many operations.

However, it seems that the media has decided to aid and abet all peoples and countries that America is at war with by announcing our intentions and secrets to the world.

In Iraq the media announced when and where we were going to start launching attacks.  Throughout the ten years we’ve been fighting al Qaeda and other subversives in Iraq and Afghanistan, the media has often given details about America’s high weaponry and abilities.  The enemy takes this knowledge and uses it to defend themselves.  Our country sends in a covert operation to gain intelligence and the media finds out and blabs it all over the world.

The latest media treachery is the reports that the US was building a series of secret drone bases in Africa and the Arabian Peninsula.  The bases are reported to be ‘covert counterterrorism operations aimed at Al Qaeda groups in Somalia and Yemen.’  One of the secret bases is being built in Ethiopia to monitor activity by the militant group al-Shabab, and another in the Seychelles to monitor pirates.

But how secret and covert are the operations now that media such as the Washington Post, have told the world including al Qaeda, al-Shabab and pirates?

One also has to wonder why our government and military are not only allowing it but seem to be actively providing the information to the media to broadcast.

How stupid can America’s media be?  Informing the world of all of our military secrets, weapons and covert operations amounts to aiding and abetting the enemy and this use to be called treason and was punishable by life in prison or death.
