One of the roles of Congress is to pass an annual federal budget. The last budget passed by the Senate was in April of 2009. In 2010, the Democrats still had control of the House, Senate and White House and failed to pass a budget. In 2011 and again this year, most Democrats blame the Republican controlled House for blocking any budgets, yet the Democrat controlled Senate failed to produce a budget for the House to consider in either of those years.
In fact, it has been three years since the Senate last passed a budget. Not having a federal budget means that they believe they have no limits on spending and issuing government loans. They believe they have a blank checkbook with an unlimited supply of funds.
That is, most Democrats act that way, but not Sen Claire McCaskill (D – MO). She has convinced herself that the Senate has passed a budget that President Obama signed into law and it is being followed. What’s more, she believes that this budget is forcing a reduction in federal spending and downsizing some government departments. Listen to what she told a reporter for the Quincy Journal,
While McCaskill may believe they’ve passed a budget, very few other Democrats do. For instance Sen Mark Pryor (D – AR) has rebuked fellow Democrats for failing to pass a budget and says there is no excuse not to have done so. Sen Joe Manchin, (D – WV) echoes Pryor’s comments saying,
“We’ve had three years with President Obama where we’re not able to get a budget resolution passed.”
Sen Joe Lieberman (I – CT) expressed his frustration with fellow Democrats for failing to pass to a budget.
Even the mainstream media, who are so pro-Democratic that they’ll fall out of any open window on the left side their building, have all been reporting that there has not been a budget passed in three years. This is the same media that refuses to print most news stories that say anything negative about King Obama and his loyal minions. They haven’t said one word about the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department’s investigation into Obama’s eligibility and having declared that his birth certificate, Selective Service Registration card and Social Security Number are all forgeries.
Either McCaskill is completely clueless about what goes on in Washington, or she’s been smoking that same stuff Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Debbie Wasserman Schultz have been smoking.
This is her first term as a US Senator as she narrowly defeated the Republican incumbent Jim Talent in 2006 by a 49.6% to 47.3% margin. That means that she is up for re-election this November and is running against the winner of the Republican primary which takes place on August 7.
I hope and pray that the people of Missouri realize that their current rookie senator is not the brightest light bulb on the marquee and that it needs to be replaced with someone that at least has a clue as to what’s going on. With control of the Senate, a huge issue in this year’s election, this is one seat that I would really like to see go to her GOP challenger.
