Archie Comics Goes Gay

For years, the comic characters of Archie Andrews, Veronica Lodge, Jughead Jones, Reggie Mantle and Betty Cooper have portrayed a fairly wholesome teenage lifestyle in the fictional town of Riverdale.  The characters originally created in 1941 by writer Vic Bloom and artist Bob Montana, Archie and his friends were meant to be a comic about teenagers for teenagers in a time before our society when down the toilet with liberalism.

In September 2010, the comic introduced Kevin Keller in an attempt to help modernize the series.  Kevin was a war hero and seemed to fit in well with the rest of the Riverdale folk.  However, in a recent release from the publishers, January 2012 will change all that when Kevin meet Mr. Right.

Since the comic has portrayed a couple of traditional relationships and weddings, they have decided that it’s now time to introduce a gay marriage.  According to co-CEO Jon Goldwater of Archie Comics:

“Archie’s hometown of Riverdale has always been a safe world for everyone.  It just makes sense to have an openly gay character in Archie comic books.”

The announcement has many conservative groups up in arms, and rightly so.  Peter Spriggs from the Family Research Council in Washington DC commented:

“It’s unfortunate that a comic book series usually seen as depicting innocent, all-American life is now being used to advance the sexual revolution.  I think whatever boost in sales might come from the novelty or curiosity factors will be more than offset by the number of both kids and parents who will be turned off by this storyline and its obvious social and political agenda.”

I agree with what Spriggs says except that I would not refer to it as advancing the sexual revolution, but advancing sexual perversion and sin.

Leviticus 20:13 clearly states how God feels about homosexuality and gay marriages:

“If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.”

Many people try to claim that Christ did away with the Law, but they are sorrowfully wrong.  In Matthew 5:17-18 Christ said:

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.  For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.”

And all is not accomplished until Christ’s final return.  Therefore the Law prescribing death for any homosexual activity is still biblically in effect and should be part of our nation’s laws.

God said homosexuality is an abomination punishable by death and Christ did not repeal that decree.  Christians across the land need to let Archie Comic know how repulsed and abhorred they are by the decision to embrace what God calls an abomination and never purchase or support them again until they correct the sinful perversion they are about to portray.
