A lot of conservatives are watching Dr. Ben Carson to see if he is going to run for the 2016 Republican nomination for president. At first Carson said he was not going to run, but after hearing from so many people in support of him, it seems likely he may run.
Chris Wallace, host of Fox News Sunday, interviewed Carson about whether or not he plans on running for president in 2016. He told Wallace that he is launching an exploratory committee this month and may make a formal announcement in May on whether he will or will not run for the Oval Office.
Over the past six months, Carson has been sounding like a candidate in many of his public statements. On Monday, he made a statement concerning our military that indirectly blasted the way the Obama administration has been treating the military. He stated:
“Our military needs to know that they’re not going to be prosecuted when they come back because somebody has said you did something that was politically incorrect. There is no such thing as a politically correct war. We need to grow up. We need to mature.”
“If you’re gonna have rules for war, you should just have a rule that says no war. Other than that, we have to win. Our life depends on it.”
His comments come not long after Obama and Democrats are calling for a Justice Department investigation into the way Islamic terrorists were treated and interrogated at Gitmo. Additionally, Obama has constantly criticized the way some American troops have treated Taliban and al-Qaeda enemies in Iraq and Afghanistan.
When US troops burned Korans, Obama was livid and condemned the actions. He ignored the fact that Islamic prisoners had defaced and torn pages from the Korans. He also ignored the fact that a number of defaced and destroyed Bibles were also burned at the same time. All that matter to America’s first Muslim leader was that Americans burned Korans.
While Obama’s Islamic buddies were torturing and beheading US troops, Obama had several US troops court martialed for urinating on dead Taliban fighters. Obama even condemned US troops for openly having Bibles and Christian symbols while fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Then perhaps the ultimate act of betrayal of our troops took place last year when Obama traded five top Taliban leaders for Army deserter Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. Six of Bergdahl’s fellow soldiers died trying to find him after he deserted his post and went over to the enemy side. Obama promised that the released terrorist would not be allowed to re-join their cause, but we already have evidence that one of them is actively involved in Taliban terrorist activities. Oh, that’s right, Obama refuses to define the Taliban as Islamic terrorists, rather they are nothing more than ‘armed insurgents.’
From Carson’s words, if he were president, he would allow our troops to do what was necessary to win, rather than play by rules that the enemy never follows. That’s what happened in Vietnam, the first war the US ever lost. We had to fight by United Nation rules, but the North Vietnamese and communist Chinese troops didn’t follow any UN rules or pay any attention to the Geneva Convention. The same is true with our fighting in the Middle East. Our enemies know no rules, but our hands are constantly tied and our troops pay the ultimate price for it.
Under a Ben Carson presidency, perhaps our troops can actually fight a war to win, instead of just showing up and being slaughtered because of rules the opposition never follows. If we’re fighting and enemy like that, then we should be able to do whatever is necessary to defeat them.
