No matter what Barack Obama and Michael Bloomberg say, owning a gun is the best form of home defense you can have. Time and again we read about an armed home owner who either frightens off an intruder, holds an intruder at gunpoint until the police gets there or shoots the intruder. In all of these many cases, having a loaded firearm saved the homeowner from likely harm.
In case you are keeping track of these incidents, here’s another one to add to your collection.
A week ago Sunday at 12:20 am, a man living in the 2200 block of Golf Road Southwest, Huntsville, Alabama, heard someone break into his apartment. The intruder had a gun and pointed it at the couple in the apartment. But the table was turned when the man living in the apartment pulled out his gun and aimed it at the intruder.
The would-be robber was frightened and started back out of the apartment when he tripped and fell. Still scared, the intruder quickly got to his feet and ran away. He was in such a hurry to escape the armed resident that the burglar not only dropped his gun, but dropped his wallet also.
Police had no problem tracking down the inept thief since they had his wallet with all of his identification.
Most criminals never expect to be confronted by an armed resident of a home or apartment. They do expect to have the upper hand and control if they find anyone home. When that someone at home is armed, generally the table is turned on the intruder who then finds him/herself being the one frightened, looking down the barrel of a gun.
