Cardinal: No Communion for Pelosi

It couldn’t happen to a nicer woman.

Seriously.

Because if Nancy Pelosi was a nicer woman, the leading cardinal of the Vatican’s highest court wouldn’t have said she has no Catholic right to Communion due to her flagrant defiance of church law.

Pelosi, who truthfully is in many ways a twin at heart of the Wicked Witch of the East, has for years been championing abortion while claiming to be Catholic.

Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke said she should be denied Communion until she repents of her advocacy of the murdering of unborn children.

Burke pointed out that is not just his personal opinion, but Canon Law, specifically Canon 915, which says that Catholics who stubbornly remain “in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to Holy Communion.”

That means that any clergy member who gives Pelosi Communion is also in defiance of Canon Law.

“Certainly this is a case when Canon 915 must be applied,” Burke said. “This is a person who obstinately, after repeated admonitions, persists in a grave sin — cooperating with the crime of procured abortion — and still professes to be a devout Catholic.”

It’s been a sore question for a long time why some of the most despicable people in Washington — Pelosi, John Kerry, Joe Biden — get away with promoting abortion, gay marriage and contraception while still pretending to be Catholic, and the church hierarchy has done nothing to either bring them to heel or toss them out of the church.

Burke’s comments hinted that winds may be changing at the Vatican and that prominent faux Catholics had better step carefully.

“This is a prime example,” Burke said, “of what Blessed John Paul II referred to as the situation of Catholics who have divorced their faith from their public life and therefore are not serving their brothers and sisters in the way that they must — in safeguarding and promoting the life of the innocent and defenseless unborn, in safeguarding and promoting the integrity of marriage and the family.”

Pelosi’s dances with the devil don’t stop at abortion, of course, and extend into the full liberal agenda. Beyond any particular issues, however, there’s just something rotten at the heart of a woman who could say, as Pelosi did this past weekend, that the loss of jobs and work hours caused by Obamacare means American workers are being “liberated” from the 40-hour workweek to “pursue your happiness … follow your passion.”

“Overwhelmingly, for the American people, this is a liberation,” Pelosi said on CNN on Sunday.

Maybe what millionaire Pelosi really needs is an exorcism to get rid of the snake demon that’s controlling her body.

Burke’s condemnation appears to be one step short of an official excommunication for Pelosi. It remains to be seen whether the Vatican itself will back up Burke’s words and finally enforce Canon Law on its wayward wolves in sheep’s clothing.

If the church were to finally crack down on liberals who distort or ignore official teachings, it would go a long way toward recouping the Vatican’s moral authority.
