Christians Refuse to Give Up to Atheists Who Tried to Stop Nativity Displays

Christians in Santa Monica are suddenly being doubly blessed in their fight against local atheists who have tried to shut down public Nativity displays.

Not only has a Christian group found a legal loophole in city regulations, but a local business has offered its private property as a new home for the traditional displays.

Local atheists had managed to effectively shut down a 60-year tradition of Christmas displays in the city’s popular Palisades Park after a two-year war that ended up with the city prohibiting all holiday displays, and a legal challenge in which the court favored the city.

Two years ago, local atheist Damon Vix got a stick up his you-know-what about the community tradition and decided to louse things up for everybody else.

Not content with simply having his own display with which to mock non-atheists, he got a group of his friends to flood the city with phony applications for holiday displays, including one display about the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

The atheists won the majority of the spots in the city’s permit lottery, while driving up the city’s costs for processing the applications. Then the atheists only used half the booths they had won.

This year, the city decided to just abandon the community tradition and ban holiday displays altogether in the park, which is one of the city gateways, overlooking the beach and the famous Santa Monica Pier.

Local Christians sued the city over its policy but lost in court. For a time, it seemed that atheism once again would be enshrined as the de facto “state” religion.

But the Christians found a loophole in the ban. The city’s wording specifies that “unattended” holiday displays are not allowed, so the Christian Defense Coalition applied to the city for a permit for a live Nativity and received it.

The living Nativity will be performed Dec. 8, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Palisades Park. The Nativity is being titled “The Birth of Christ. The Birth of Freedom. The Santa Monica Nativity.”

“By finding a way to creatively address this injustice, the powerful message of Christmas and religious freedom will continue to be heard and [seen] in Palisades Park,” said the Rev. Patrick Mahoney.

Meanwhile, Watt Companies, near the corner of 28th Street and Ocean Park, will host a dozen Nativity scenes from Dec. 8 to Jan. 5.

Vix, the atheist who tried to shut up the Christians, has declined interviews on the recent developments.

        3. In a article in the local newspaper 82% of Americans claim to be Christians. Christianity is the fastest growing religion in the world. The Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Mormons preach the word of God world wide. I guess having 72 young virgins and clean sheets as a reward in Paradise is not so attractive to women and probably some men.

          Christianity has a negative reputation. They are perceived as judgmental, bigoted, sheltered, hypocritical, insincere,and uncaring. Outsiders say [Christian] hostility toward gays…has become virtually synonymous with the Christian faith. Millions of young people are leaving – joining the ranks of the “unaffiliated”. A third of adults under 30 have no religious affiliation, compared with just one-in-ten who are 65 and older. The over 65 crowd are leaving too – with no one to take their place when they die.

        10. Carljr’s observations are absolutely true. From the outside looking in, I can say it is the behavior of Christians and their social and political agendas (which are often in direct conflict with Jesus’ stated ideals) that are driving people away. Much of the ideals and teachings of the New Testament are beautiful, it is the absurd and sometimes ugly beliefs of some Christians that turn people away.           Meanwhile in the real world, the First Continental Congress was indeed opened with a brief prayer (295 words, to be exact – including the word “Amen”) by Jacob Duche. Interestingly, Duche was later found guilty of High Treason for conspiring with the British, and later fled to England.

          There are actual historical facts out there for those who are interested…

        12. The founders also wrote “all men are created equal” with one hand while the other hand was busy whipping their slaves.

          They were not perfect in their own execution of the constitution, but the document itself is a fantastic model of compromise and statesmanship and still holds up hundreds of years later.

          The individual liberties it gives us cannot be taken away lightly. I, as an individual, have the right to worship (or not) the way I choose, I have the right to speak out against anyone or any group, I have the right to defend myself, I have the right to publish any opinion, and I have the right to my own home and property. No group can take these things away from me.

Since you appreciate liberty, as do I, why would you ever support a person who, by his own admission, is committed to Socialist/Marxist/Communist ideology, which has proven to be a failed system, and which invariably leads to loss of liberty….property….free speech….freedom to move about without interference from the gov.

        14. If 295 words are a brief prayer, what are usual prayers of 40 and less words ? How many words in English, French, Dutch,etc. for ‘Amen’ ? You believe that un-believers committed fewer and less inhuman acts than believers ? But then, you seem to be an unbeliever, or have a ‘personal religion’. So be it, but show some respect for others.

        15. Slavery has existed throughout human history. The Bible is against it. Preachers who used the Bible to justify slavery (as well as atheists who try to twist it to support their contention that the Bible is pro-slavery) are mistaken. It is only in biblically based cultures that slavery has ever been eliminated.

        21. America was founded by refugees fleeing religious persecution from the Church of England. Religious wars had torn Europe apart – including such bloody events as the Thirty Years War, the English Civil War, and the fights between Catholics and Protestants in France.

          During the English civil war many religious groups were founded. One group – the “Quakers” held that the presence and grace of God was inside of everyone; they felt no need for elaborate church services, priests, or offerings of any kind. The Quakers also believed in the equality of men and women and had no gender hierarchy within their ranks. Their refusal to acknowledge the higher-class as superior to them caused widespread hatred for this group. They were called witches, blasphemers, and heretics. Officials persecuted the Quakers, imprisoning and torturing them for their religious beliefs.

          Likewise, the Puritans wanted to purify or reform the Anglican Church because they felt bishops and priests had too much power over church members. Some Puritans felt the Church was so corrupt they should separate from it all together and were called separatists. The Church punished the Puritans because they were dissenters.

          The Pilgrims were also separatists that left England to escape persecution. Initially they fled to the Netherlands, then later the new world. Their Pilgrimage was to escape the persecution by church officials who would jail them for refusing to participate in church rituals.

          Each of the colonies attempted to have a distinct religious character and favored one denomination’s power. For example Anglicans, who conformed to the Church of England, populated Virginia. Massachusetts was home to the Puritans. Pennsylvania-Quakers, Rhode Island-Baptists, Maryland-Roman Catholics. The revolutionary war was as much about keeping the Church of England from enforcing a uniform Angelican religion over the colonies as it was for political independence.

          The impetus of “Great Migration” of colonists to the new world and the Revolutionary war against England was to avoid religious tyranny. Religion played a large role in American history – our ancestors fled and fought the oppression, control, and abuses of the state run church.

          Which is why it’s sadly ironic that the courts are now creating a state religion of atheism and allowing persecution of Christians.

        24. It’s mentioned in the first sentence of the constitution. The very first thing in the bill of rights is the right to have different (or no) beliefs. It prohibits the creation of a state religion or the preference by the government of one religion over another. It allows for each colony (and all individuals within) to have their own beliefs (or non-beliefs).

          The Declaration of Independence lists grievances of the tyrannical rule of the Supreme Governor of the Church of England, King George III.

          Atheism is not a religion, is not promoted by the state, and is not persecuting Christians.

      2. Nativity scenes have been on public and private property for years and no one had a thing to say about it. Even the Mother of your sick group, Madelyn Murray O’Hair, accepted it with just a comment or two and went on. Why don’t you just not worry about what the majority of this country believes and wants and get the heck out if you don’t like it and go somewhere you can feel comfortable in your beliefs.

If I were to take my grandchildren to the town square to see the Nativity and all the Christmas lights, and a short distance away they would also see the atheist exhibit (whatever that would be)….I would have no problem going home and discussing it with them.

          They need to learn that the Christian faith is an intelligized faith which can withstand the scrutiny of the most ardent opponent, and that atheism is bankrupt and plagued with many philosophical problems.

          My question though, is why do you want to do it during the Christmas season, which is a celebration of the birth of Christ…hence the name ”Christ”mas….and that involves the Nativity Scene and the singing of hymns…not Jingle Bells and Reindeer (which are okay but have nothing to do with the true meaning of the holiday)

          Why not put up displays at other times of the year? I wouldn’t interfere if you wanted to memorialize the death of HItchens, or celebrate the birth of Darwin or Dawkins or Harris with a parade with giant dinosaur balloons or floats with mock-ups of the double helix. Seriously.

          What is clear to me is that, despite all the complaints of ”feeling left out” or ”just wanting to share the space”, atheists really don’t want to be part of it at all….but want to shut the whole thing down.
          And I think that is not only intolerant…but wrong.

        3. The holiday season includes many holidays. The concept of sharing the display space in the park allowed for your Nativity Scene, a Chanukah display, something for Kwanza, Winter Solstice, and yes even a Flying Spaghetti Monster. Not as opponents, but as a display of an interfaith community. We all live here together. As an Atheist myself, I would prefer there be no displays of this type on public property, but allowing all groups a display is an acceptable compromise.

In this case, for atheists to win, here’s what they would have to show: that Christians, solely because they’re Christian, received priority for the spots over other groups, AND that this was done with taxpayer dollars. It addresses ultimate questions such as how did the universe begin (big bang), how did life begin (crystals/magic), where did men come from (apes), and a standard for morality (don’t get caught). Technically, some forms of Buddhism and Taoism are atheistic in that they don’t believe or require a belief in God, but no one doubts that they are a religion. American atheism even has churches (Google “church of atheism”), a ministry (Richard Dawkins, Bill Nye, etc.) and powerful compulsion to evangelize and convert. And atheists absolutely believe theirs is THE right worldview. While atheists like to say that they rely on reason, not faith, they definitely employ faith in their beliefs. They treat science as if it is Truth, capital T, when rational people know that science is only a method (one of many) for getting at facts that can then be modeled and tested. Real science is open to questioning, discussion and improvement. Atheists’ view of science is locked into big bang-evolution and won’t even allow questioning. That is a classic hallmark of faith. If they were truly dedicated to rationality and were not a religion, then atheists would not be so overzealous about crushing Christianity because they would not have any religious feelings to offend. Atheists are only a “nonbelief” when it can gain them some political mileage. Don’t kid yourself — atheists are some of the most religious people on the planet.

        5. It addresses none of those things. Atheism is simply the lack of belief in the supernatural. The concepts of how the universe began or the progression of life on this planet are not part of the definition. Only that some supernatural force had no influence.

And the ideas of the big bang and biological evolution are the best supported scientific models we know of, but they are always open to testing, revision, or rejection. Those revisions will be based upon new discoveries and observations, however, not on dogma. For that reason, they are also not religious concepts.

        9. Webster defines religion as “relating to or manifesting faithful devotion to an acknowledged ultimate reality or deity”. Given that the atheist’s ultmate reality is that there is no Supreme being and given that they have formed themselves into groups to advance their ideas they have now formed a new religion – the religion of non-belief. By their continous decisions against Christian groups the courts are, by default, enforcing a national religion.

When the law is contrary to scripture the decision is clear. all of the apostles made it abundantly so when they disobeyed unto death, in order to obey God. TheUnited States supreme court ruled based on the interpretation of the second amendment that it is not the governments job to promote any bodys religion or religios displays on any local, state or federal property, Its called separation of religiion from government. ONe can display its religious icons on privat propery also based on local zoning and municipal ordinances, its got nothing to do with atheism its got everything to do with democracy and respect for all religions. There are some 40-50 religions in the US, can you imagine all of these religions displaying their Icons on every holiday on Gov. propery during the year, There would be a daily multiple display of somekind all over America, It just bcomes a competitive circus of religious icons and statues of various representations of Gods ,devils and memaids and who knows what else. It would create a big mess . We are not a single religion coutry, we are a country of many religions, and thats the way the founders wanted it to be.

The reason I even bring up his sexuality is because I read an article that stated that the gay community LGBT etc. is now throwing in with atheist organizations lending them their voice and money. People forget that the gay community makes up less than 2% of the population, but they are powerful because they will stop at nothing to force everyone else to accept their lifestyle. What is even more interesting is that now the state of California is weighing in on pedophilia. Pedophiles are now stating that like gays, they were “born this way” and pushing for laws that will allow them to marry and/or have relationships with children. NAMBLA (North American MAN BOY LOVE Association) is also backing this. The gays need to remove religion and morality from this country in order to make this legally acceptable and punishable to those who dare to not accept their lifestyle.

People of the Christian faith know that Christ only promoted only good and love when he walked upon the earth and still there was hatred towards him, enough to crucify him in the most cruel way possible. Yet still his name brings up hatred among certain people. He told us in the scriptures that would always be the case. Christmas is about CHRIST, always has and always will be. I feel Christians always need to defend His name and who He is and have our Christmas scenes to remind us of His gift to us. Peacefully yes, but never give up.   13. In El Cerrito, California there was an Arab who created the most beautiful Nativity scene ever. He did this in honor of America. His home was on a hillslide. The Nativity started small but over the years he added not only the Magi and shepherds but angels, camels sheep on a huge lot next door to his house. The display was so popular the police had to direct traffic. A few years back this man passed away. The city was going to allow the display on city property but the idiots stopped it. Local citizens came to the rescue. Now people volunteer to help set the display up on private property and with donations. We also have a local church that uses live animals for the Nativity. These are very popular Christmas attractions. My question: Why do these minority idiots have to riight to deny me and a majority of Americans their right to celebrate our traditions? Since 82% of Americans claim to be Christians and we probably pay the majority of taxes why should we, or any other religion, be denied what has been a tradition for years. The “separation of church and state” only applies when the government wants to control. If the “separation”
    was applied honestly, then yes it should be enforced but it is only at the pleasure of the pagans in Washington that it is applied as THEY see fit. Unequal justice under the law?

Both John Adams & John Hancock were both credited with this statement, “No soverign but God & no King but jesus”. Every step up the Washington monument has KJ scripture etched in granite.   20. In my home county in NY a certain, very high end hotel, had a large , beautiful Christmas Tree in the lobby, last year.

    Everything was fine until a large group of a certain religion, the “chosen people” booked 3/4 of the rooms in the hotel for Christmas week. When the leader of this cult, arrived and gazed upon the Christmas Tree , he was stood motionless, was much “offended” and DEMANDED that it be taken down. (This is a TRUE story by the way.)
    (Now, what did this group EXPECT to find in a hotel lobby on Christmas tree is beyond me.)

    The schmuck of a “manager” that day, by the way, another “Chosen Person” finally appeased and convinced the leader that he would drape the Christmas Tree in BLACK cloth while they were guests. Completely cover it up in black. A black shroud in an outline of a tree.

    This cretin did that just that. He covered it up, entirely !

    When the NON JEW guests arrived and asked WTF is going on?

    He admitted it.

    This made coverage in a tiny paper for a day , posted on the papers website for 24 hours and when was then removed.

    2. Actually I do know “Christians” who go to the movies on Christmas day. It’s just what they do. It is not really a religious holiday for them so they open presents, have a big dinner , and go to the movies. A lot of Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims probably go as well. It isn’t just the Jewish people that you seem to have such a big problem with. A friend of my husband, who practices no faith, told my husband he loves to go play golf on Christmas. There are only a few people on the course and they are all Koreans!

    to Accept Correction, he is Prideful, (don’t confuse me with facts, my mind is made up); the Slave is able to Reason, but he is Fearful of what people will say about him, (don’t make waves, let’s go along to get along, Strive for Majority’s acceptance). But the Willing Man has every good opportunity available by his Ability and Willingness to Reason.

    The God of the Bible is a God of Reason.
    God’s Word says, “Come now, let us Reason together, says the Lord, though your sins be as Scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be Red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are (key words) Willing and Obedient, you shall eat the good of the land. But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.” (Isaiah 1:18-20)

    God speaks to the Fools when He says “My people are destroyed for lack of know- ledge.” (Hosea 4:6) “The Fool has said in his heart, ‘There is No God.” (Psa 14:1;53:1) “For the preaching of the Cross is to them that perish Foolishness; But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks Foolishness.”(1Corinthians 1:18, 23) The Psychiatry profession claims that man is a two-part being; he has an Intellect and a Body, and that the goodness of man lays within his inner most being. God’s Word says this is Not correct; there is No goodness in man in his fallen state. (Romans 3:10, 23); “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, Not one. For ALL have sinned and come short of the Glory of God.”

    In Genesis.1:26,27, God says, “Let us make man in OUR image, in OUR likeness,” that is a Three-Part being in the likeness of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy
    Spirit. The spirit of man is the most important part of his triune creation. The spirit of man was created in the express image of God and is indestructible and will live forever in eternity. God created Adam and Eve in His Glory and they were spiritually joined to God and they were exceedingly blessed with His Grace in all things. But when Adam and Eve rebelled against God’s instructions, their spiritual connection was severed and their fellowship with God was destroyed. Because of Adam’s fall, man received as a consequence for his disobedience, a sin nature. This sin nature, referred to as “Original Sin,” is an inborn propensity to commit evil. God is an All-Consuming Fire and He knows that sinful man cannot stand in His presence without being destroyed. So God sent Jesus the Savior of mankind so that sinful man could be forgiven and reconciled to God, whereby enabling man to stand before a Holy God in Right standing with Him and without being
    destroyed by His All-Consuming Fire.

    In the course of 4,000 years, God sent His Son Jesus, to save fallen man by becoming a
    propitiation and sacrifice for man’s sin, and thereby reconciling man back to God. God is loving, merciful, forgiving, and just. The greatest Promise in the Bible is John 3:16,17; “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent Not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.” The greatest tragedy is John 3:18; “But he that believeth Not is condemned already, (the Atheist, Agnostic) because he has not believed in the name of the Only Begotten Son of God.” God in His love, mercy, forgiveness, and grace, satisfied his Justice and displeasure for man’s sin by providing a way for man to be reconciled to God, by placing the entire sins of the world, past, present, and future, upon Jesus, the Lamb of God Who is without sin and Who takes away the sin of the world. God takes No pleasure in the death of the wicked. Ezekiel 33:11 says, “As I live says the Lord God, I have No pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and LIVE: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?”

    The problem with man’s sin nature is quite simple. Man cannot save himself from his destructive sin nature, therefore God provided a Savior to deliver him from his evil ways. The Bible way to heaven is achieved by a simple Confession and an act of faith found in Romans 10: 9-13; that says, ”If you Confess with your Mouth the Lord Jesus and Believe in your Heart that God raised Him from the dead, you Will be Saved. For with the Heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the Mouth confession is made unto Salvation. For the scripture says “Whoever Believes on Him will Not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For whoever calls upon the Lord Jesus Shall be Saved.” When a believer Confesses
    this prayer, he is making a proclamation of Identification. He is vicariously in agreement and personally Identifies with the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus who took his sins to the cross and was raised from the dead in hell for the forgiveness of all his sins, enabling him to spend eternity with the Father in Heaven.

    The Atheist and Agnostic says God does not exist, yet They Have Not Searched for Him. The man who does Not Search for God will generally Never find Him, but the man who steadfastly searches for God Will always find Him. God invites men to Search for Him, and He promises to reveal Himself to all who seek to know Him. Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call unto
    me, and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you do not know. Jeremiah 29: 11-14 says, ”For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and Not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will Seek Me and Find Me, when you Search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity;”

    The Atheist and Agnostic is without excuse. God has given sinful man a plan of redemption and eternal salvation. God has given us His son Jesus; He has given us His Holy Word, the Bible; He has given us His Holy Spirit. All man has to do is Choose the path he wants to take for his eternal destiny. God does not Send sinful man to hell and
    damnation. God has given man a Free Will to Choose his eternal destiny. Sinful man
    Sends Himself to hell and damnation by default, because he has Not Believed on the Name of Jesus, the Only Begotten Son of God. Man has to make this Choice while he is Yet Alive, for he Cannot Choose after he experiences the First physical death.
    The Great White Throne Judgment.
    Revelation 20:13-15 says, “Then I saw a Great White Throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and Books were opened. And another Book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the Lake of Fire. This is the Second Death. And anyone Not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the Lake of Fire. The Second Death is Not Cessation of Physical Life, but it is the Eternal Separation of Life from Jesus, the eternal source of life. God’s Word is His Will, and God’s Will is His Word. The Consciousness that we have in this mortal life is Immortal and Will Live for eternity; to be Vividly Aware of eternal glory with God or Vividly aware of eternal hell and damnation.

    Only a FOOL would choose Eternal Hell over the simple choice of Eternal Glory with God. John 14:6 says, Jesus said to him, “ I am The (only) Way, The (only) Truth, and The (only) Life. No one comes to the Father Except through Me.” The Word of God is Divine Truth; inspired by His Holy Spirit; it is self-evident truth, and it is beyond debate. The Bible
    was written and canonized over a period of approximately 1700 years by 40 different authors, Who were All inspired by the Holy Spirit of God. The Bible is all about Jesus and He is the main character in every book and all of the books are in harmony with Jesus as the central theme of man’s salvation. There is not one book that contradicts any of the other books.
    Jesus is the Word of God. In the King James Bible there are 66 books, 1189 chapters, 31,102 verses, 773,746 words,and 3,566,480 letters. Now imagine taking all these books, chapters, verses, words, and letters, and wrapping them all over every square inch of Jesus’ body and then covering Him with flesh. The apostle John constantly refers to Jesus
    as the Word of God in his Gospel and in his book of Revelation. (John 1:1,14; Revelation 19:13,16) “And He [Jesus] was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His Name is called the Word of God. And He [Jesus] has on His vesture and on His thigh a name written, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Jesus is the Word of God Who became flesh and dwelt among us, (John 1:14) and believers are the flesh who become the Word as we study and meditate on the Holy Scriptures. “And you shall know the Truth and the Truth shall make you Free.” (John 8:32)

    Dr. Lewis S. Chafer, Dallas Theological Seminary founder, sums up the Bible in 5 topical words in his Christian Theology. Christ is the Central Theme of Scripture, and as bearing on His Person, the Old Testament is:
    1.) classified as the Preparation for the Coming Christ;
    2.) the Four Gospels as the Manifestation of Christ;
    3.) the Book of Acts as the Propagation of Christ’s Spirit (His Church);
    4.) Epistles are Explanation of the Preparation, Manifestation, & Propagation of Christ;
    5.) the Book of Revelation as the Consummation of Christ and His Church.
    The Glorious Consummation of Creator God with His Redeemed Creation; the Church, the Bride of Christ shall Become One With Him and Eternally Joined With the Father.

    Logic dictates if the premise is true, the conclusion is true also. The Word of God has a truthful premise and ends with a true conclusion. Atheists, your name will be found in the Book of Life IF you invite Jesus into your heart and confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is your Lord and Savior of your life. God declares in His Word, the Bible way to heaven is to choose Jesus as your savior. God’s Word is His Will; His Will is His Word. Confession of Jesus as your Lord & Savior, brings Possession of Eternal Life.

    “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that
    God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto
    righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame. For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:9-13 NKJV)
    Atheists, may God grant you the wisdom to choose between Heaven and hell; Non-Smoking or Smoking. Amen! PTL!

    1. Great theorizing except you forgot we ARE a Christian nation FOUNDED ON CHRISTIAN values and principals. Why do so many people forget this? Let the atheists go find their own country and have their OWN holidays.         So, if you disagree you’re going to have to argue that George Washington, John Adams, and a Senate composed of our founding fathers didn’t understand what our country was founded upon.

        Anyway, you asked why so many people forget, this is one of the reasons I keep forgetting.

        1. Don’t know what to tell you Jim. I said we were founded on Christian values and principals. How much of our history do you know, that wasn’t taught in our indoctrination schools of the last 50 years? This country started with Europeans coming over from the EARLY 1600’s on. They came to get away FROM the Church of England and its controlling everything. Therefore, after a rocky start with socialism, where everyone was to put together their food and share and over HALF the people starved to death because they wouldn’t support the leeches – in the first year – things got back to normal. They were given their own plots of land and told to do what they wanted – it was theirs. From that moment on, this dream/country grew.

          Later when the the British started coming over and trying to get back the colonies, and wouldn’t stop taxing their crops and goods for themselves, the Revolution was fought. WE won. And it prompted the Constitutional Bill of Rights edict later that congress could make no LAW “RESPECTING AN ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIGION”. The founders did not want another Church of England. But this whole country was begun so that a FREE people could practice their CHRISTIAN religion as they wanted without the British telling them how to practice it and how much to pay to support the English upper class. If you read up on it, Princeton, Harvard, AND others of our great education institutions were formed in the 1600’s to TEACH PEOPLE HOW TO BE PASTORS of that CHRISTIAN religion. So argue all you want. YOU would be wrong.

          In the meantime, don’t bother quoting a bunch of probably-progressive studies stating that SMARTER people are less religious. I am VERY smart myself – almost off the charts smart so I don’t want to hear your crap. If there is ANY LOGIC to your “studies”, it would have to be stated what age group they ALL entailed. In our country – where we STILL have some freedom – younger people tend to go out on their own and discover what they believe. As people grow older – and wiser – this atheism tends to lessen. But you probably didn’t know that EITHER.

          Don’t bother responding. If you read history – REAL history – you’ll learn all this yourself and you won’t need to respond.

        2. Apparently not “off the charts” smart enough to understand the difference between one person being intelligent and a statistically significant correlation in a sample of hundreds of people (or to notice the reference to children and adolescents in the quote).

Let the others go find another country to live in and they can have things their way! Then in 200 plus years we’ll see which population has the better life. You would ALSO notice that one of the very FIRST ACTS of the FIRST CONGRESS was to put together the words of the swearing in ceremonies INCLUDING ” SO HELP ME GOD”. Only to the truly stupid and ignorant would there be “no mention of God”. Good bye.

        3. To be fair to becky, comments sometimes glitch. I have seen comments disappear, only to return a few minutes later. I have seen comments I know were posted hours ago show up as “New”. I have also seen comments show up attributed to the wrong person, only to go back to the original poster 20 minutes later. Disquss is not perfect.

          That being said, becky is a closed minded narcissist who wants to kill enemies of the right.

          I also had a lengthy post regarding the historical facts of our founders history with the Church of England and how they wanted to stay as far away from that as they could. Many of the founders believed in God, but no one was willing to give the church any power or influence over citizens. No one was willing to have our new government – a more perfect union – to be entwined with any particular denomination. This is why our VERY FIRST (and most important) right as American citizens is the freedom to not have the government tell us how or what to worship. Freedom, baby!

  30. If you are a Christian and a believer in our Lord and Savior (not barack), then it is time to start standing up to these atheist who believe theirs is the only opinion. Frankly I don’t care what they think. They have to live with that decision. I know I am going to support my personal SAVIOR Jesus Christ this year and I just hope they can come to Jesus before it’s too late.

  31. I do recommend that in the true Christian spirit we should recommend that atheists be allowed to have their own creche , with an empty barn, no one standing near an empty crib, and president ZERO standing outside pointing at a dead star.

  32. Seems the atheists conveniently distort the “separation of Church and State” which is NOWHERE in the Constitution and completely omit the part which ‘guarantees the free exercise thereof’.

      1. It seems there is some strong evidence that the more intelligent a person is the less he/she believes in the existence of God. In a study done by the psychology department at the University of Edinburgh last year,.. findings showed that intelligence was significantly and negatively associated with measures of religion, especially fundamentalism.

        In another study done three years ago… also found lower percentages of those who are extremely intelligent holding religious beliefs compared with the general population, a decline of religious belief with age among children and adolescents as their cognitive abilities increase, and the decline of religious belief during the course of the twentieth century as the intelligence of populations has increased.

        The authors mention 38 other studies that found a negative correlation between intelligence and religious belief; and a study in the Netherlands that reported agnostics scored 4 IQ points higher than believers. In another study it was demonstrated that those who responded to “not religious at all” had the highest IQ.

        In the 1990s, a study of members of the American National Academy of Sciences reported that seven percent believed in the existence of God, as compared with approximately ninety percent found in the general population. In Britain, it was found that 3.3 percent of Fellow of the Royal Society believed in the existence of God, while 78.8 percent did not believe. (

  33. Having a nativity scenes in a city park is not congress making a law that establishes a religion. It never has and never will. They use this to try to shut the christians up. It is like everything else. People are just plain stupid and I get so sick and tired of their rants. God should be coming back soon and I can’t wait.   34. What happened to the Freedom of Speech part of the First Amendment? A Nativity sceen is just religious Free Speech. IF you don’t like it, don’t look at it! If Atheists are allowed the same Freedom of Speech, why do they try to stop others from expressing their Constitutional Rights?

  35. We as Christians need to raise our voices all across America and let our voices be louder than those that are trying to persecute us. If we become united and stand firm in our faith and convictions, then the truth will be heard. I am glad that these wonderful servants of Christ stood firm and didn’t back down. We are persecuted as Christians because we try to be “Christ-like”, and wasn’t Our Lord persecuted? Praise be to Jesus. Oh yeah, and I refuse to be “politically correct”, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!
