Corporations Want Cheap Labor, Border Patrol Stands Down

Amid the push for amnesty for illegal immigrants, Border Patrol officers are being ordered to stand down and not pursue border hoppers, drug runners and other people entering the country illegally.

Shawn Moran, vice president of the National Border Patrol Council, said that Border Patrol management has been ordering field agents to essentially stand by and do nothing to enforce the border.

“It doesn’t matter whether it’s drugs, bodies, or how large the group is, our agents are being ordered to stand down by Border Patrol management,” said Moran. “I have received reports from our agents in every single sector from San Diego to the Rio Grande Valley in Texas that they are receiving these orders.

“They are not being relieved in place, they are simply being told that someone else is being dispatched, but none of us have seen that occur. We are simply being ordered to stand down and stop tracking and trying to apprehend the criminals.”

According to Moran, management is saying that the stand-down orders are being used to cut budget costs and make sure agents don’t work longer shifts, but the excuse doesn’t hold water because the patrol has a larger budget than ever.

“They are placing the budgetary concerns before the security of our border,” Moran stated. “We have situations where top-level bureaucrats in the U.S. Border Patrol and in the Customs and Border Protection Agency are receiving massive bonuses — some up to $64,000 — for finding ways to reduce the pay Border Patrol Agents receive.”

This is all part of the larger plan by the Democratic Party and some Republicans to allow illegal immigrants to stay in this country — amnesty. Politicians don’t want to pass amnesty just out of commitment to concepts of liberty or equality, and certainly not out of the goodness of their hearts.

The Democratic Party leadership has a specific interest in amnesty because liberals have positioned themselves thanks to skillful public relations as the champions of nonwhites and the poor. The Democrats have never been sticklers for upholding the law, and breaking election laws are particular talent they seem to have developed, so the thought is that an influx of illegal immigrants through amnesty would only further secure the liberal hold on power. RINOs who go along are just looking to secure themselves a seat at the power table in liberals’ cabal meetings.

Both Democrats and Republicans are being further goaded into seeking amnesty by big corporate donors.

About 100 corporations last month signed on to a letter sent to Nancy Pelosi and John Boehner, urging the adoption of amnesty and increased importation of low-skill workers in order to “address the reality that there is a global war for talent” and to “align our nation’s immigration policies with its workforce needs at all skill levels to ensure U.S. global competitiveness.”

Signators to the letter included Hewlett-Packard, United Technologies, Archer-Daniels-Midland, Cigna, American Express, Procter & Gamble, Merck, Cisco, T-Mobile and Texas Instruments. Every one of those companies has laid off hundreds or even thousands of legal workers in the past few years.

Pharmaceutical giant Merck, for example, has announced 16,000 layoffs in the past year. That’s 1 out of every 5 of its workers.

The corporate attitude obviously is that Americans, particularly educated Americans, are too expensive and the wallets of the higher-ups are best fattened by filling jobs with the more exploitable.

While the liberal media and local activists cry out “justice,” “fairness” or whatever, the truth is that this country’s elite, in politics and business, want to exploit the vulnerable from other countries and this one.

To do it, they are more than willing to dismantle our nation’s border — and with it its culture, history and future — for the same old reasons: money and power.
