How out of touch is the leadership of the Republican Party?
In the same week Karl Rove and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce announced that they would refocus on crushing the Tea Party, the GOP tried to appeal to blacks by sending out a message wishing them a happy Kwanzaa, the pro-Communist non-holiday favored by the extreme Left.
It’s an example of institutional schizophrenia that heralds the Republican Party’s coming psychotic break with reality.
Rove’s American Crossroads has already left a bad taste in the mouths of real conservatives after Rove declared war on the Tea Party in February of this year, but according to the New York Times, Crossroads is hoping to influence the 2014 elections by intimidating campaigns and creating groups that it will secretly control.
The Chamber of Commerce for its part plans to spend $50 million promoting establishment Republican candidates. While promoting more Republicans in Congress may seem laudable, the Chamber is looking specifically for candidates who are “business-friendly,” code for politicians who will continue promoting corporate welfare and support issues like amnesty for illegals.
The Tea Party and people who support the principles of constitutionally limited government, lower taxes and free markets are the ones the GOP leadership wants to lock out.
But at the same time the leadership is cutting out its base, it’s trying desperately to increase its appeal to non-whites, not its traditional support.
To that end, the Republican National Committee outdid itself by releasing a short statement from Chairman Reince Priebus and co-Chairwoman Sharon Day wishing people a happy Kwanzaa.
“From December 26 through January 1, many families will take time to celebrate African culture and history. Kwanzaa is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to honor the importance of family and community, and it reminds us of the great diversity in America,” read the statement in part.
The absurdity of the statement is that Kwanzaa, which has never been a holy day or declared holiday, was created by an America-hating communist professor and ex-convict named Ron Karenga.
Karenga invented Kwanzaa as a black alternative to Christmas, which he considered too white and exploitative of blacks.
Although it’s promoted as celebrating African culture, Kwanzaa has little of authentic history or culture in it, being just thinly veiled lessons in Marxism.
Even Karenga admitted in 1978 that Kwanzaa was a phony holiday, saying, “I created Kwanzaa. People think it’s African. But it’s not. I wanted to give black people a holiday of their own. So I came up with Kwanzaa. I said it was African because you know black people in this country wouldn’t celebrate it if they knew it was American.”
The GOP leadership is deathly afraid of the Tea Party because it threatens their country club lifestyle and the comfortable go-along camaraderie of the Congress. They’re so afraid, in fact, that they’re willing to embrace Left-wing ideology to keep their jobs because they know the Left will never do anything to put an end to the corruption of the GOP leadership.
It’s a deal with the devil: Ditch the Tea Party and the Left will pat you on the head and invite you to President Obama’s birthday party.
The GOP leadership has neglected to realize that there’s an alternative result to their behavior: Conservative voters — white, black, brown or any other color — might get sick of the back-of-the-bus treatment and kick the country clubbers out of their comfy offices.
