For years conservatives have been wondering (sometimes loudly) why it is that they have to deal with a man who did his best to make them look bad for two terms of Bill Clinton’s Presidency. George Stephanopoulos became famous as President Clinton’s attack dog Communication Director – the man who crafted the Clinton family message for almost a decade! He became a household name by directing the administration’s response against Republicans who disagreed with the President’s handling of the country and his extravagancies in office. So… Stephanopoulos’ entire job was beating up on and refuting the arguments of Republicans in whatever manner he could, saying whatever he needed to.
Can you understand why republicans have NEVER trusted him as a “real” journalist?
MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough may not have complained about Stephanopoulos before, but with the recent news that he had donated some $75K to the Clinton family slush fund…er, “Foundation”… Scarborough suddenly finds merit with the Republicans’ argument that Stephanopoulos is, and always will be, a Democrat attack dog.
“I’m sorry, there’s a much bigger question to ask,” Scarborough said on MSNBC this morning. “Tim Russert worked for a Senator and a Governor. Tim Russert wasn’t the enforcer for a president and a presidential campaign. I think the bigger question is why did George Stephanopoulos get the job in the first place? That’s what conservatives have been asking all of these years and you’re right, he played exactly into their worst suspicions.”
