The New Mexico state legislature has been called to a special session on redistricting. Gov. Susana Martinez has added a few other measures to the special session including one that asks for the repeal of a provision that allows illegal immigrants to obtain New Mexico driver’s licenses.
And wouldn’t you know it, a group known as Border Network for Human Rights have left their El Paso, TX base to protest at the New Mexico state capitol. They are doing their best to lobby state lawmakers to protect the supposed rights of illegal immigrants.
As the group protested outside the governor’s office they chanted, “Jesus was an immigrant.”
First of all, the term ‘illegal immigrant’ means that they are breaking the law by entering our country illegally and as such should have no rights. They should not have the right to a driver’s license, or free health care or free education or the right to work in this country. The only right they have is to be arrested, jailed and deported.
But more importantly, their use of Jesus’ name in this context is blasphemy. Jesus may have been in immigrant when He traveled the countryside, but He was not an illegal immigrant. To equate him with illegals would be saying that He was a sinner which destroys His divinity and makes Him out to be a liar and fraud.
Furthermore, Jesus NEVER taught anyone to break the law of the land. In fact, in Matthew 22:21 we read:
“Then he said to them, ‘Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.’”
And in 1 Peter 2:13-17 it says:
“Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.” [emphasis mine]
These bleeding heart liberals are trying to use Christ’s name to support federal criminals. If they had used the name of Allah, Mohammed, Vishnu or any other religious leader or god, followers of those religions would be up in arms and those saying these things would be charged with hate crimes. But since it is just Jesus and Christianity, it seems to be okay to use His name in vain and commit blasphemy and I’ve had my fill if this kind of derogatory treatment of our Lord and Savior.
Perhaps the group Border Network for Human Rights should change their name to Blasphemy Network for the Rights of Illegals.
