Is Washington DC a Good Representation for a National Capitol?

Last week Texas governor and GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry referred to Washington DC as a ‘seedy’ place. Following the earthquake and Hurricane Irene, Rep. Michele Bachmann said that it was all an act of God because of what had been happening there. Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin spoke about ‘real America’ and made it obvious that it did not include D.C.

What else do we know about Washington D.C.?

It has one of the highest rates of crimes committed with firearms, even though it has strict gun control laws. Many areas of DC are not safe to walk at night. Last week, a report came out that listed Washington as having the worst drivers and traffics of all of the major cities in the US.

It also seems to be the home of more corruption than Tripoli in Libya. More backroom deals are made in DC than in any organized crime syndicate. Oh wait, Washington is a crime syndicate and Obama is the Don of it all.

And to top it all off, it’s the home of the largest business failure in the history of the world. If the US government were any other business, they would have been bankrupt and out of business years ago.

I have to agree with Gov. Perry that Washington DC is seedy, only I would go further to say it is the ultimate national and international icon of lawlessness, corruption and danger.
