Whether it’s the Taliban, al Qaeda, Boko Haram, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force, Haqqani Network, Hamas, Kataib Hezbollah, Palestine Islamic Jihad, Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) or any of the other dozens of Islamic terrorist groups, they all have several things in common. They all wish to establish their own version of an Islamic state, utterly and completely destroy everyone that opposes them and they will use whatever tactic they want to accomplish their goals. They care nothing about the civilians, committing war crimes or things like adhering to the Geneva Convention.
These Islamic terrorist groups don’t hesitate to blow up, shoot, burn or behead innocent civilians. The attacks of September 11, 2001 demonstrate the disregard for human lives from groups like al Qaeda. The recent attacks in Paris and the explosion of the Russian airliner give evidence to the inhuman brutality that groups like ISIS are willing to inflict on innocent people.
New reports coming out suggest that ISIS and perhaps other Islamic terrorist groups are about to take their inhumane brutality to another level, making them more dangerous than they are now.
ISIS has allegedly established a branch to pursue chemical weapons. Intelligence reports received from an Iraqi official said that the new branch of ISIS has been actively recruiting chemical experts including some from Iraq that had worked for Saddam Hussein.
Ironically, US intelligence officials said that they do not believe that ISIS has the ability to produce nerve gas or biological agents without hurting themselves. Yet, Lt. Gen. Richard Zahner, Retired, warns of being naïve. Zahner, who served as the top US military intelligence officer in Iraq in 2005 and 2006, commented saying the US has regularly underestimated the abilities of ISIS. He also pointed out that ISIS has a greater financial support than al Qaeda ever had.
Over the weekend, one of the national news morning shows said that just a couple years ago, ISIS was bringing in around $1 million a month but are now bringing in over $1 million per day. They are selling oil from their held territory and have created a number of businesses. ISIS is reported to have a very sophisticated financial branch that matches most large corporations.
With that kind of financing and the active recruiting of chemical experts, it shouldn’t take them too long to develop some kind of chemical weapon. With their history of brutality and total disregard for human life, you can be assured that ISIS will use chemical weapons once they have them.
If you want my humble opinion, ISIS will continue to be a threat to the US and the rest of world if we don’t wipe them off the face of the earth. The problem is that there are so many Islamic terrorist groups still out there that the threat of terrorist attacks won’t go away any time soon.
