Missouri State Fair officials have banned a rodeo clown for life after he performed a skit wearing an Obama mask in which he was chased by a bull.
During the performance, according to the Associated Press, “spectators were asked if they wanted to see ‘Obama run down by a bull.'” The crowd, with the apparent exception of some whiny leftists, responded enthusiastically.
The whole thing came to a head when one of the aforementioned whiners posted a weepy Facebook account about how shocked he was by the performance and how mortified he felt because there was a foreign exchange student with him and his family.
In banning the clown, fair officials said the performance was “an unconscionable stunt.”
Democrat lawmakers have been screaming for blood since they found out there are people in Missouri who don’t revere Obama as a demigod.
Jim Bainbridge of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association said, “This crossed a line. Clearly, when you’re suggesting that the president should be injured, it kind of gets to a level of hostility that is inappropriate.”
Audience member Perry Beam, who apparently started the whole “controversy” when he posted a picture of the event on Facebook, fluttered that it felt like a Ku Klux Klan rally. Here’s the HuffPo video report featuring Beam’s description of the event. (The report doesn’t seem to feature any of the alleged banter about running down Obama.)
The announcer, Mark Ficken, has tried to distance himself from the event, saying through a lawyer that the clown had a live microphone and was the one doing the talking. Fair officials and the contractor who employed the clown are all ducking and covering, saying nobody knew the clown was going to mock Caesar.
A writer for the Daily Kos said, “All I want is some heads to roll.”
I’d be all for that, so long as we begin with the heads of the people who are behind the coverup of Benghazi, Fast and Furious, IRS targeting of conservatives, NSA warrantless surveillance, passing of Obamacare before the legislation was written, secret funding of al-Qaeda-connected Syrian “rebels,” and the scores of other scandals great and small we’ve put up with in the past five years.
And we could also look at the heads of everyone who cheered or kept silent when the movie “Death of a President,” about the assassination of President Bush, came out in 2006 and received multiple awards, including an international critics award.
Because it was a comedy act that got the Left so upset, let’s not forget to target the heads behind “That’s My Bush,” the short-lived comedy series in 2001. We should also go after every late-night or cable television comedian who ever cracked a joke about President Bush.
And last but not least, let’s eliminate every hypocrite who spent eight years criticizing President Bush and accusing him of imagined crimes against humanity, but who now thinks Obama walks on water.
Once we get through that rather extensive list, there won’t be anyone left to whine about a clown wearing an Obama mask. The world might even be better off for it.
But then that would make us conservative Americans as guilty as our comrades on the Left of having no sense of humor and of being willing to violate other people’s First Amendment rights.
It’s tempting, but …
(Note to readers: There’s one thing odd. Here’s a link to the longest video of the event that I’ve been able to find, and I can’t hear any part where the clown asks the audience if they’d like to see Obama run down, which is the specific charge being made in the media. If you can hear it, or if you find a video that has the alleged lines, please post below, including a link if applicable.)
