If liberals like Hillary Clinton are to be consistent in their ideology about wanting to outlaw all guns in the US because of the crime rate, then they must put forth legislation to outlaw all, trucks, automobiles and knives.
If you think this sounds ridiculous, then think again.
Vehicles account for an average of 42,000 deaths per year with 18,000 from passenger cars, 5,000 by motorcycle and over 14,000 from trucks. Trucks have been used to blow up the federal building in Oklahoma City and the World Trade Center to name a few. Motorcycles have been used in numerous crimes including robberies and gang activities. Cars are regularly used to run over someone such as spouses, neighbors and cops. They are used in thousands of crimes from coast to coast.
In some states, 1 in every 4 homicides involved a knife or sharp instrument. The metropolitan area near where I live has at least one stabbing on the news every night or two. Knives are also a very common weapon of choice used in domestic violence.
We also hear of many instances of people being beaten with baseball bats, bricks and bare hands. Perhaps we need laws banning them as well.
Depending upon the source one uses, gun related deaths in the US run about 30,000 per year. The Brady Bill people try to report as many at 100,000 gun deaths per year in the US.
Of those 30,000, 48% (about 14,400) are suicides. Compare that to a study conducted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration that found an average of 178,423 ER (hospital emergency room) visits a year from 2004 to 2008 for drug-related suicide attempts involving people age 12 or older, and most of the drugs used are either illegal or prescription drugs, which are already regulated.
Accidental deaths by firearms account for less than 1% of the 30,000. There are three times as many medical mistake deaths in the US than there are accidental gun deaths. Perhaps we need safety locks on doctors and nurses?
Some of the cities and states that have the highest rate of crimes and deaths committed with firearms also have some of the strictest guns control laws in the nation.
One of the many problems with liberals is that they are not consistent in their ideology. They get very dogmatic about one thing and completely ignore others that fall under the same logical or should I say illogical arguments.
Therefore, if they are to be consistent with their argument to outlaw guns because they are used in so many crimes, then they also need to outlaw cars, trucks, knives, baseball bats, bricks, bare hands and all prescription drugs.
I just saw an article about a man in China that killed 6 people with an axe. Are they next?
