An absolute truth about those on the left is that they will always reveal what or who scares them. They attack or attempt to silence anyone they fear, for example, Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz, and even Ronald Reagan when they thought they could get away with it.
They do tend to be a bit more mute and understanding when dealing with aisle crossing, compromising, conservative-bashing Republicans.
To that point, a woman called in to Rush yesterday. She asked, if liberals are afraid of Chris Christie, if, as we claim, they would prefer to face a big government progressive, why are they attacking him? Why do they feel the need to bring him down now?
They should be defending him and loving him as they did/do someone like John McCain. Or at the very least, they should be tolerating his shenanigans.
We expect Republicans, right or wrong, to throw one of their own overboard, but not so with the left.
However, this time around, more than just a couple of establishment types have turned out to defend Christie. Preibus, Karl Rove, Haley Barbour, and even Rudy Giuliani have all come to his aid. There is another establishment darling, Jeb Bush, that appears to be quiet on the subject. Wonder why?
Could it be that Bush sees his chance to dispatch and replace Chris Christie, thereby making him the establishment’s presidential choice by default? Could it be that if he remains detached, he can claim he was neither a cheerleader nor detractor, thus coming out of this mess appearing neutral?
Yet with a history of Republicans throwing their own under the bus, why aren’t they doing this to Christie?
It’s the same reason that the Democrats have decided to attack the RINO (or hippo) now, years before the next presidential election. As Rush told the female caller – it’s the polls!
We know Christie is a big government progressive, but the left doesn’t see him that way. They only see the “R” after his name. They also only read the lefty big media polls showing that Christie is the only one who can beat Hillary. So when the opportunity is literally handed to them to take Christie out, it must be “Full Speed Ahead.” Who knows when and if they’ll again be presented with such a gift.
Add to that the latest poll that shows only 18% interest in the Christie scandal. That won’t do, so the leftist media must continue to push it until they can get that number up. The caller also asked Rush, if they hammer this thing now, how can they use it later during election season, assuming Christie survives?
That one was easy for Rush. The fact is, many voters are of the low-information variety. They pay no attention to this stuff in off years, so it would be fresh news for a lot of idiot Democrat voters. And let’s not forget the coveted “independents.”
I also wonder, assuming they can take Christie down, if those on the left think they can get a Democrat elected to replace him as governor of New Jersey.
Now combine all these with that one overarching factor – animal instinct.
We all know the tale of “The Scorpion and the Frog.”
A scorpion and a frog meet on the bank of a stream and the scorpion asks the frog to carry him across on its back. The frog asks, “How do I know you won’t sting me?” The scorpion says, “Because if I do, I will die too.”
The frog is satisfied, and they set out, but in midstream, the scorpion stings the frog. The frog feels the onset of paralysis and starts to sink, knowing they both will drown, but has just enough time to gasp “Why?” “It’s my nature,” replies the scorpion.
A scorpion is a scorpion and a leftist is a leftist. They’ll do what they’ll do because it’s who they are.
See an “R” — take them out.
