Obama Orders Holder to Investigate Holder

One of the many scandals plaguing the Obama administration involves the Justice Department’s investigations and acquisition of phone and email records of reporters for several major news agencies.  Members of the main stream media who have been blindly loyal to President Obama are now having their eyes opened and they are starting to see the evil that many conservatives have been telling them about.

With his loyal media turning on him, Obama is now trying his best to placate them with an investigation that I hope they see is as phony as a Clinton $3 bill.

On Thursday, Obama bored a crowd at the National Defense University with an hour long speech.  Hidden in the long droning of his lies and cover-ups, Obama stated:

“Journalists should not be at legal risk for doing their jobs.  Our focus must be on those who break the law.”

“I have raised these issues with the attorney general, who shares my concern. So he has agreed to review existing Department of Justice guidelines governing investigations that involve reporters, and will convene a group of media organizations to hear their concerns as part of that review. And I have directed the attorney general to report back to me by July 12th.”

Excuse me?  Asking the Department of Justice to investigate the Department of Justice is like asking a crime mob to investigate themselves.  Does anyone in their right mind honestly believe that the DOJ is going to point the fingers of guilt at those responsible for the violation of the reporters, especially since it leads back to Holder himself?  It’s like asking Bill Clinton to investigate the Monica Lewinski affair.

In times past, either Congress would conduct these types of investigations or a special independent counsel would be appointed to head the investigation.  In the case of Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky, sometimes referred to Zippergate, Kenneth Starr was appointed to be the independent counsel that investigated the shenanigans and subsequent cover-up of what took place in the Oval Office.  Starr, who had served as a federal Court of Appeals judge and as Solicitor General for President George H.W. Bush, conducted the investigation that lead to the impeachment of Clinton by the House of Representatives.

It’s time for another Kenneth Starr independent counsel to investigate Holder and Justice Department in the case involving the illegal access into the personal records of a number of reporters that were just doing what reporters do. We also need a special counsel to investigate the White House and State Department concerning Benghazigate, plus another independent counsel to investigate IRSgate, and one to investigate Operation Fast and Furious, and one to investigate EPAgate.  There are probably enough scandals involving the Obama administration to keep a dozen independent counsels quite busy.

It seems that I’m not the only one that believes it is time for a special independent counsel to be appointed to investigate the DOJ.  Rep Louis Gohmert (R-TX) is also talking about the need for a special counsel.  Gohmert pointed out that Holder cannot be trusted since he refused to answer the questions before a congressional hearing, leading to contempt charges made against him by the House of Representatives.  Gohmert stated:

“We’ve already found the attorney general in contempt, and that did nothing.  We have all kinds of issues we’ve asked the Justice Department about and they are not providing any answers.”

“So, unless we have legislation that creates a special prosecutor to deal with an attorney general who is in contempt of Congress and who will not address the issues he’s created, we won’t get to the bottom of it.”

“The Justice Department misused the judicial process. To get a warrant to go after a Fox News reporter who was simply trying to get a scoop, there’s nothing illegal about that.  If people had known how wide and deep the Fast & Furious situation was, it certainly could have affected the last election. So, they go after a reporter who’s going to try to get to the bottom of it. The Justice Department is actually protecting itself there.”

“Holder claims the AP leak was one of the most egregious he’s ever seen. Well, apparently every leak that makes the Obama administration look bad is egregious.”

“Instead of just violating the Constitution so completely and so brashly and going after the AP, the more appropriate thing to do would be to say, ‘You know what, we’ve got only a handful of people in this administration who knew this information that was leaked. Let’s check just those folks’ phone lines. Let’s see who they were meeting with, and we’ll make the determination from there.’ But that’s not what they wanted to do. They didn’t want to catch the leaker in the administration. They would much rather intimidate the AP and go after all the other records that they could use to help intimidate them in the future. It’s just incredible.”

However, none of this is being done mainly because it might lead to the truth which neither Obama nor Holder want anyone to know.  So the best way to cover-up a DOJ scandal is to have the DOJ investigate.  If they do find fault, they’ll sacrifice some lowly DOJ employee who will bear the blame and punishment for following the orders they were given by the top dog.  It’s time Congress put a muzzle and harness on the DOJ top dog and make him learn to submit to the law that he is supposed to uphold or he will be replaced with a top dog that will obey and abide by the laws of the land.
