Fifty years ago, Detroit was one of the richest cities in the country. It had one of the highest average income levels in the nation and the cities businesses were thriving. Millions of dollars was poured into the city’s public schools. The main religion of the Detroit metropolitan area then was Christian.
Today, Detroit is the poorest city in the nation with 32.5% of the people living below the poverty level. A teenager living in Detroit today has a greater chance of ending up in jail than graduating from high school. Today you will find blocks and blocks of abandoned houses and even empty lots where they’ve been torn down. Many schools and factories are nothing more than empty buildings left to deteriorate over time. The Detroit metropolitan area boasts the largest concentration of Muslims in the nation.
So what happened in Detroit that turned one of the wealthiest cities into the nation’s poorest city in only a few decades?
The political leadership of Detroit changed, that’s what. In the 1960s, they elected a liberal left-wing mayor who drastically increased the role of government and entitlements. Rather than turn away from the socialistic policies of the Democratic Party, they have continued to elect Democratic mayors and leaders ever since. Today we see the stark results of fifty years of that Democratic rule.

Now consider that the policies of Barack Obama (economic, jobs and social welfare) are nearly identical to those of the leadership of Detroit. What happened in Detroit is already starting to happen in many places throughout the U.S. Businesses are folding, people are losing their jobs and homes and more people have become dependent on the government than ever before.
How long do you think it will take to turn the rest of America into Detroit? If you carefully examine all of the policies of the Obama administration, they all have one thing in common and that is socialism. Larger and more controlling government coupled with more and more entitlements lead to socialist control over a huge population of poor people.
It happened in Detroit and it is now happening in the rest of the country. Don’t let Obama turn America into a Detroit. Don’t let Obama get re-elected. For the sake of our children and grandchildren, we have to stop Obama now, on Election Day.
