The Affordable Care Act was sold to America with the claim that they want to do everything possible to make sure that every American has healthcare coverage. Under the individual insurance mandate that was upheld by the Supreme Court (who is not that supreme in my opinion) and the employer mandate, every American is required to healthcare insurance or be subject to fines payable to the IRS.
The employer mandate only applies to companies with 50 or more employees. Small businesses with fewer than 50 employees are not required to provide costly healthcare benefits for their employees.
However, a number of small business owners appreciate their employees and strive to help them with their healthcare, but don’t want to pay the outrageous rates for full employee coverage. Instead, many small business owners help their employees by reimbursing them for the cost of private healthcare coverage or for their actual medical expenses.
One would think that this would be something that Obamacare would encourage as it helps more Americans with their healthcare expenses, but one would be wrong to think that way.
Effective July 1 of this year, Obamacare will punish businesses who reimburse their employees for their healthcare costs. The penalties for these companies could be hundreds of dollars per day for as long as the employer reimburses their employees for their healthcare costs.
Companies caught in the act will most likely be small businesses that can ill afford being fined for helping their employees. The fines could possibly be severe enough to force some small businesses to lay off employees or just close their doors and fold up.
Once small businesses learn of this latest Obamacare rule, it will result more Americans losing their healthcare coverage because they can’t afford it without the employer help there were receiving.
According to Eric Boehm:
“The new rule is the result of an Internal Revenue Service interpretation of part of the ACA. It seems intended to force employers to offer a group health insurance plan (or leave their employees to fend for themselves on the health insurance exchanges).”
Don’t forget that this is the same IRS that followed Barack Obama’s orders to target and harass patriotic, conservative and Christian groups applying for non-profit status. They also targeted large Republican donors by putting them through unwarranted audits, sometimes two or three audits in a single year.
So once again we see proof that the Affordable Care Act has nothing to do with actually providing more affordable healthcare coverage to every American. It’s all about forcing Americans to comply with unconstitutional socialist programs.
