On June 30, 2009, Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was on guard duty at his post near Yahya Khefl in the Paktika Province of Afghanistan. Members of his platoon later found his rifle and protective gear left where Bergdahl was supposed to be and there was no sign of the sergeant. A patrol was sent out to look for their missing friend. That patrol came under heavy fire resulting in the deaths of six fellow soldiers.
Members of Bergdahl’s unit said that he had grown outspoken against the US actions in Afghanistan and had grown sympathetic to those they were fighting. They believed that Bergdahl had deserted his post and his duties in the US Army and just walked away. This is further corroborated by a number of emails he sent his family before he disappeared. In one email just before he deserted, Bergdahl wrote:
“The future is too good to waste on lies. And life is way too short to care for the damnation of others, as well as to spend it helping fools with their ideas that are wrong. I have seen their ideas and I am ashamed to even be american. The horror of the self-righteous arrogance that they thrive in. It is all revolting.”
The Army launched an investigation and concluded that Bergdahl did indeed leave his post on own free will and it has been recently learned that charges of desertion are or have been filed against Bergdahl. The information supporting a charge of desertion was well known while Bergdahl was still seen walking around, playing, taking target practice and living with his supposed captors.
So it was totally unthinkable for most of the American public when we learned that Barack Hussein Obama violated federal law and without the consent of Congress, traded five top ranking members of the Taliban for Bergdahl’s release. Obama told us that he was assured that the five members of the Taliban would be kept in Qatar and that they would not be allowed to resume any of their terrorist activities.
Now it seems that Obama is having rotten eggs thrown on his face for his traitorous actions. According to a new report from CNN:
“The U.S. military and intelligence community now suspect that one of the five Taliban detainees released from Guantanamo Bay in return for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl in May of last year has attempted to return to militant activity from his current location in Qatar by making contact with suspected Taliban associates in Afghanistan, multiple officials tell CNN.”
“The development has led to an ongoing debate inside the administration about whether there is a new threat from this man, and potentially the other four.”
“This is the first known suggestion that any of the detainees involved in the exchange may be trying to engage again in militant activity. It comes at a politically sensitive time as the administration has quickened the pace of prisoner release in an effort to encourage the closure of the Guantanamo, and the Army must decide in the coming weeks whether and how to punish Bergdahl for leaving his post.”
I’m sure that if Obama or his White House minions were asked about this report, they would deny that the released Taliban member was engaged in any terrorist activities. After all, they just denied that the Taliban are terrorists. Instead they say that they are merely armed insurgents, not terrorists.
When Bill Clinton played his semantic word game with ‘if’, he was only toying with his and the nation’s morality. When Obama plays his semantic word game with ‘terrorist’, he’s not just toying with the nation’s morality, rather he’s toying with our national security and the lives of American military personnel.
If anyone is keeping score, this is one of a dozens things that Obama has done that should result in criminal charges, many of which constitute treason. Sadly, no one in authority has the integrity and fortitude to do anything about bringing charges against him.
