A Pennsylvania mother of two was on vacation in Mexico, when she began laughing so hard that she allegedly fell off a roof-top balcony.
Sharon Regoli, a Charles A. Houston Middle School teacher reportedly lost her balance while laughing and fell to her death. The 50-year-old was visiting a friend with her daughter.
Regloli’s brother David said, “She started laughing very hard and when she put her head back she lost her balance and fell back,” he continued, “She suffered multiple injuries to her body and brain.”
My first thought was that she was probably drunk and toppled over when she got too close to the ledge. However, according to David, alcohol wasn’t a factor in her death. He did add though, that “there was no back on the deck.”
Regoli Ciferno was taken to a hospital in San Diego and died of her injuries.
“This was a tragic accident that has devastated our very close-knit family,” her brother said.
The tragedy happened just as her students were getting ready to return to school from summer break. Huston Middle School Principal Brian Ferra told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that Regoli Ciferno’s death will leave a void at the school.
“She wore her heart on her sleeve,” Ferra told the website. “She would do anything for anyone.”
Regoli Ciferno was married and a mother of two teens, ages 15 and 17, according to her obituary.
Her brother posted the following photo and status on Facebook:
Rest In Peace my amazing beautiful little sister, Sharon Regoli Ciferno. She passed about an hour ago from the horrific trauma from her fall. My family is devastated and heart broken. Please keep us all in your prayers. She died very peacefully with her husband John and her children as well as my parents and me holding her hands and praying over her. Now we need prayers of strength to come to grips with our loss. Through her generous gift of life, at least 5 people will have the opportunity to live on with some of her organs. Please pray for those who are receiving her organs tonight that they live a better life by being touched by Sharon.
