Pelosi on the Wealthy: Don’t Tax Them. Wait, Tax Them or Else!

I hope most of you remember the comic strip Peanuts, featuring Snoopy, Lucy, Linus and none other than Charlie Brown.  Lucy would often tell Charlie Brown that he was ‘wishy washy’ because he would change his mind when influenced by others around him.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), House Minority Leader reminds me of Charlie Brown because of how wishy washy she is on some things, especially on taxing the wealthy.

In May of this year, Pelosi recommended that any households that earn $1 million or more keep the Bush era tax cuts in 2013.

This past Friday, Pelosi agreed with President Obama when he said that the tax cuts needed to be stopped for any household making $250,000 or more.  Her tone sharpened and became more emphatic when on Sunday, she insisted that any deal with the Republicans had to include tax increases on the wealthy or there would be no deal.

On Monday, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) House Majority Whip, was interviewed by Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer.  McCarthy told Hemmer about how Pelosi ‘keeps changing the game plan’ concerning the fiscal cliff and how she is not completely in line with what President Obama has been saying of late.  When Hemmer asked him if Pelosi’s statements about there being only one way to avoid the fiscal cliff was a game stopper, McCarthy replied:

“Well, the president isn’t saying that.  Remember this: that Nancy said last May that it had to be a tax increase on those a million and more. So she keeps changing the game plan. That can’t be the case.”

Hemmer then asked McCarthy:

“What I hear you saying is that the president is not in lock-step with Nancy Pelosi when it comes to tax rates versus revenue meaning and suggesting that he may go along with your deal as opposed to raising tax rates. Do you see that as a possibility?”

To which McCarthy responded:

“I see that as a possibility.  I think elections are over. Let’s sit down and find a bipartisan way that we can solve this problem, not go to a fiscal cliff while at the same time have a pro-growth agenda where we grow jobs.”

If you want to know why the Democratic Party has so many problems, just realize that Pelosi was Speaker of the House when the Dems controlled it and now serves as their Minority Leader.  If they selected a complete wishy washy idiot to be their leader, then they must be wishy washy idiots as well.  Then to realize that she has announced that she will once again run for the position of House Minority Leader paints a sad and scary picture for the House Democrats and the people they represent.
