If you take a look at some of President Obama’s ambassador appointments you will learn that he cares nothing about foreign policy. Some of them don’t even know what type of government the country has that they are assigned to. It’s even questionable if they can find the country on a world map.
It seems the only requirement to receive an ambassador appointment from President Obama is to have raised $500,000 or more for his political campaigns.
Oh where do I start with the list?
I’ll start with Howard Gutman, an attorney who raised $500,000 for the Obama’s 2008 campaign and then appointed to be the Ambassador to Belgium in 2009. Gutman’s father was Max Gutman, a Polish Holocaust survivor who eventually immigrated to the US. While serving as Ambassador to Belgium, Gutman told the European Union that Israel is responsible for anti-Semitism.
Cynthia Stroum, who worked in the TV and film industry also raised $500,000 for the 2008 Obama campaign and was appointed to be the Ambassador to Luxembourg. In 2010 she resigned after the staff at the embassy put in transfer requests for Iraq and Afghanistan rather to work under her confrontational management style. The State Department Inspector General’s Office also found a number of other allegations against Stroum including purchasing large amounts of wine and liquor.
Noah Mamet, a green energy consultant also raised $500,000 for Obama’s campaign and was later appointed as Ambassador to Argentina even though he couldn’t find it on the map.
Colleen Bell was well qualified to be appointed Ambassador to Hungary as she produced the television soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful. If that doesn’t qualify her to be a US Ambassador then perhaps it was her raising $800,000 for Obama’s campaign.
Last but not least is Obama’s nominee to be Ambassador to Norway. George Tsunis is the Managing Director and CEO of Chartwell Hotels. They own and manage Hilton, Marriott and Intercontinental hotels in the northeast and middle Atlantic states. He raised $989,000 for Obama’s campaign. He is so well qualified to be Ambassador to Norway that he stated during his confirmation hearings that Norway doesn’t have a president when asked about their president. Then he referred to the Norwegian government as ‘fringe elements’ that ‘spew their hatred.’
This list of Ambassadors and nominees will fit right in with others in the State Department run by Secretary of State John Kerry.
At a hearing before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, three of Obama’s experts on Afghanistan, Ambassador James Dobbins, Assistant Defense Secretary Michael Dumont, and senior USAID official David Sampler, were grilled by house members. Dobbins, former Ambassador to the European Union was appointed to be the Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan in June of 2013. At 1:35:30 into the video on the hearing, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) asked the three men:
“How much are we spending annually in Afghanistan now?”
The three men sat silently, so Rohrabacher continued:
“How much is the cost to the American taxpayer?”
Again, more silence so Rohrabacher continues on:
One member of the panel tried to dance around the question by saying that each of them have different budgets. Rohrabacher responds:
“Nobody knows the total budget, what we’re spending in Afghanistan? This is a hearing on Afghanistan”
Again silence and then he asks for an estimate. Then Rohrabacher tells them that it’s disheartening to have a hearing on Afghanistan and the government can’t tell us how much we’re spending on this project. Then he moves to the next question:
“How many killed and wounded have we suffered in the last twelve months”
He was told that they didn’t know and would have to get back to him on that also.
Then we have Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland. She is considered America’s top diplomat in Europe. Her diplomatic skills are amazing and were clearly demonstrated when she blurted out ‘f*** the EU.’
I guess you can’t anger a country or continent if you’re never at work as is the case of Nicole Avant. She was also an Obama nominee who represented the US as the Ambassador to the Bahamas. A State Department Inspector General report revealed that Avant was absent from her post 40% of the time. This probably has something to do with the fact that she is now a former Ambassador.
Avid Obama supporter is former Rep. Max Baucus (D-MT) who left his seat on the House to become Obama’s Ambassador to China. The Ambassadorship to China is one of the most important posts we have largely due to the fact that China owns more US debt than any other country and could easily send us into an economic collapse if they called it all in. When Baucus appeared at his confirmation hearings, he admitted:
“I’m no real expert on China.”
Mark Hyman of Behind the Headlines commented about Obama’s appointees in the State Department, saying:
“Dysfunctional illiterates have embarrassed themselves. Now, they’ll go abroad and embarrass our nation.”
Is it any wonder that the US has become the laughing stock of the rest of the world since Obama became president? World leaders have publicly laughed at and mocked President Obama and the US, something that rarely happened before he stole the White House. But what should we have expected from a man who had very little political experience himself and absolutely no qualifications to lead any nation, especially one of the most powerful countries in the world. His lack of experience has been manifested in every aspect of his presidency and our once great nation has been reduced to nothing more than an international joke.
