Democrats never like it when Republicans play by the same rules they do. When Democrats refuse to look at a bill proposed by Republicans, it’s called justifiable politics. When Republicans refuse to consider a bill proposed by Democrats, it’s called bad politics and unwillingness to compromise.
Barack Obama often threatens to veto anything the Republicans send him if it doesn’t contain his policies and not those of the GOP. He has threatened various politicians with different forms of retribution if they don’t bow and submit to his dictatorship.
When Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio stood up to Obama in the investigation of his birth certificate and Selective Service Card, Obama used Attorney General Eric Holder and the Justice Department to launch an all-out attack of Arpaio with the intention of forcing him out of office.
Holder and the DOJ went after Arpaio with lawsuits and even revoking federal immigration law enforcement privileges. They even helped promote a recall election which Arpaio handily won. Sheriff Joe was not intimidated by Obama, Holder or their henchmen and has stood his ground as the duly elected sheriff of a county of nearly 4 million people.
Texas Governor Rick Perry reportedly used Obama tactics in handling Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg who just happens to be a liberal Democrat. Perry asked her to resign after she was arrested for DUI and had a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit. Lehmberg was observed swerving all over the road and presented a danger to other motorists. She was aggressive and had to be restrained. Further investigation revealed that she had purchased 72 bottles of vodka from just one store in the past year.
Incidentally, Lehmberg’s DA office also heads up the Texas Public Integrity Unit which pursues public corruption of government employees and officials. Following his authority granted to him by Texas law, Perry vetoed the funding for the Public Integrity Unit until the time that Lehmberg resigned. Perry felt that her record of drunkenness and alcoholism is a direct contraction to the position she has to fight government corruption and crimes.
Lehmberg’s supporters and friends then filed charges against Perry claiming that he is abusing his power as Governor in trying to force Lehmberg to resign. To no surprise of anyone, the Travis County DA’s office, of which Lehmberg still heads, managed to get a grand jury to indict Perry on the abuse of power charges.
The charges are really bogus as he has the authority under Texas law to do exactly what he did and many political and legal experts say that the DA’s office has little to no chance of convicting Perry. The whole thing clearly shows that Democrats can’t stand it when Republicans play by the same rules they do. Democrats don’t believe in fair play, which is typical for most liberals that preach equality and tolerance.
However, I can’t help but wonder if the indictment has an ulterior motive. Perry has already announced that he is not running for re-election. However, many political pundits believe that Perry is planning on running for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination. Could it be that the charges against him were intended to derail Perry’s political aspirations?
