During the 2012 presidential campaign, Republican candidate Mitt Romney warned Americans about what would happen if Barack Obama was re-elected. Sadly, the majority of the American people have been so dumbed and numbed by our socialist public education system and the liberal mainstream media that they failed to heed Romney’s warnings.
It’s been a year and half since was Obama was sworn for his second term and already some of Romney’s warnings are coming to fruition. Among those warnings are:
“Russia, this is, without question, our number one geopolitical foe. … They fight every cause for the world’s worst actors. The… idea that [President Obama] has some more flexibility in mind for Russia is very, very troubling, indeed.”
“Russia is not a friendly character on the world stage. … And for this president to be looking for greater flexibility, where he doesn’t have to answer to the American people in his relations with Russia, is very, very troubling, very alarming.”
Since the 2012 election, Russia has exerted its presence in the Ukraine and its power in Syria. In the Ukraine, Russian President Putin ignored Obama’s threats by annexing Crimea and invading parts of the Ukraine. Putin claimed they had the right to enter the nation to defend Russian citizens living there.
In Syria, Obama was threatening the use of military force if Syria didn’t turn over their chemical weapons. Syria ignored the threats. Putin stepped and convinced Syria that it was in their best interest to turn over their chemical weapons and they did. This was a clear message sent worldwide that Putin carries more power, authority and respect than Obama.
“The president should have built a credible threat of military action and made it very clear that the United States of America is willing, in the final analysis, if necessary, to take military action to keep Iran from having a nuclear weapon. Look, one thing you can know and that is if we reelect Barack Obama, Iran will have a nuclear weapon.”
Obama preferred to use diplomatic measures to persuade Iran not to pursue their nuclear weapons program. He even tried to broker a deal to reduce $7 billion in sanctions that were being enforced against Iran. The US and Iran signed the deal, but it has never been finalized because Iran is still making demands for future nuclear programs supposedly for energy needs. In the meantime, Iran continues to work towards developing a nuclear weapon.
“We have a solemn duty and a moral imperative to deny Iran’s leaders the means to follow through on their malevolent intentions. We must not delude ourselves into thinking that containment is an option.”
Once Obama was sworn into office in January 2009, the US – relations with Israel began deteriorating. Obama has made no secret that he would prefer to develop relationships with Muslim countries (some of which have vowed to destroy the US and Israel) than further strengthen our relationship with Israel. Obama has even worked to help the Palestinian Authority to get nationally recognized and receive US funding and support.
Romney repeatedly stated that Israel is our most valuable ally in the Middle East, something Obama has never embraced. Consequently, Israel’s President Benjamin Netanyahu endorsed Romney for president in 2012.
Currently, our relationship with Israel is tenuous at best and we still aren’t on very friendly terms with the Muslim countries that Obama has been courting, leaving us with virtually no allies in the Middle East at this time.
“I’ve indicated I would veto the DREAM Act if provisions included in that act say that people who were here illegally — if they go to school here long enough, if they get a degree here — then they can become permanent residents. I think that’s a mistake.
“We have to follow the law and insist that those that have come here illegally return home and apply — get in line with everyone else.”
Romney saw the invasion of illegals for what it is, danger to the American economy and national security. Obama on the other hand refuses to enforce federal immigration laws and ties the hands of law enforcement who try to enforce the laws on their own. Obama stretches out his hands to welcome hundreds of thousands more illegals, promising them amnesty and citizenship, all for the sake of recruiting their votes.
“Corporations are people, my friend. … Of course they are. Everything corporations earn ultimately goes to people. Where do you think it goes?”
Romney recognizes corporations as being people who have religious beliefs, various ethics, goals and dreams. Obama treats corporations as being an entity with no affiliation to anything but him and government. He cares nothing for the religious beliefs of many corporations and pushes legislation to make them go against the beliefs of the owners.
Perhaps the best example is Hobby Lobby whom the Obama administration tried to force to adhere to the employer contraception mandate. Fortunately, the US Supreme Court recognized that Hobby Lobby is people who have strong religious beliefs and that it is unfair to force them to go against those beliefs.
Newsmax interviewed two people concerning Romney’s warnings, one a Republican and one a Democrat.
Bradley Blakeman, former advisor to President George W. Bush, told Newsmax:
“Mitt Romney, in retrospect, was not omniscient. He saw what was there to be seen. He saw the world as it was — not the way he wished it would be.
“Obama believed that he could change the world with just his presence on the world stage and with his words. His hope was naïve and impossible. He was running for president, not messiah.”
“He never has been able to match his words with deeds. And, today, if it were not for bad news — Obama doesn’t make news.”
Doug Schoen, a Democratic pollster and analyst told Newsmax that Romney did make the right call on some issues such as Russia and Syria. He also stated:
“The American people are frustrated with both parties and the direction our country is heading. Romney does look better than he did in 2012, but very sadly America looks worse — and the American people are yearning more new leadership.”
The bottom line is that Romney was right on a number of important issues and Obama has done nothing but hurt the US, the American people and endanger our lives, our welfare and our nation.
