Students Consider Renouncing US Citizenship to Save up to $100,000 for College Education

If you live in Maryland and want to send your son or daughter to the University of Maryland, it currently costs $4,713.81 per semester for full time. Projecting no increases in tuition for four years, it would cost you a total of $37,710.48 in tuition and fees to obtain a four year degree.

If you live in any other state and want to send you son or daughter to the same university, it would cost you $14,860.29 per semester. Projecting no increases in tuition for four years, it would cost you a total of $118,882.32 in tuition and fees to obtain a four year degree, a difference of $104,022.03 between in-state and out-of-state tuition and fees.

If you live in Virginia and want to send you son or daughter to the University of Virginia, it currently costs $10,016 per year for full time tuition only, with no fees added. Projecting no increases in tuition for four years, it would cost you a total of $40,064 in tuition without fees to obtain a four year degree.

If you live in any other state and want to send you son or daughter to the same university, it would cost you $36,720 per year. Projecting no increases in tuition for four years, it would cost you a total of $146,880 in tuition without to obtain a four year degree, a difference of $106,816 between in-state and out-of-state tuition only.

Now how would you feel if your child was paying out-of-state tuition at either of these universities when students who violated federal immigration laws by entering the US illegally were allowed to pay the lower in-state tuition? Illegals can pay $100,000 less for a four year college education at either of these universities than your American born child is charged.

In fact, US citizens, international students with legal visas and legal immigrants who have followed proper immigration laws have to pay out-of-state tuition if they don’t live in any of these states.

Many students are going into tremendous debt in college loans just to attend these colleges and universities as out-of-state students. But what would they consider doing to avoid having to pay the outrageous difference?

Campus Reform asked out-of-state students attending UVA and UMD–both of which offer in-state tuition to illegal immigrants–whether they would consider renouncing their U.S. citizenship to become ‘undocumented students’ eligible for in-state tuition.”

Surprisingly, a number of the students they interviewed said that would consider renouncing their US citizenship to save $80,000 to $100,000 for their college education. The best response came from one student who asked:

“I’m a US citizen. Shouldn’t I also be able to afford college?”

It’s not just these two universities that illegals are allowed to pay in-state tuition, but it’s happening in a total of 22 states: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin. While it is not statewide in Virginia, the in-state tuition is offered to illegals at the University of Virginia.

This is all courtesy of Barack Obama and his liberal Democrats who value the illegal votes of millions of illegal aliens more than they value US citizens and our rights. This is clear evidence that liberal Democrats are enemies of the United States and should be treated as such.
