Supreme Queen of Capital Hill Bullying is Pushing Anti-Bullying Bill

I use to think that Michelle Obama was the queen of hypocrisy and bullying in Washington D.C, but that title should now go to Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.

Rep. Lee (D-TX) has the highest staff turnover rate on Capitol Hill due to her bullying and abusing them.  Swear words flow from lips as frequently as lies flow from Barack Obama’s lips.  Not only does she curse proficiently, but she has a practice of giving staff members’ nicknames using some of those swear words.  One staff member told the Daily Caller:

“‘You stupid mother-effer’ was like a constant.  Like, all the time. But the interesting thing is she would really project that behavior more towards her African-American staffers. She would have other ethnic groups in the office, like interns or whatnot. But it was really her African-American staffers who she felt comfortable enough to really curse out. … This is something we always talked about. We chalked it up to her just feeling more comfortable acting out her aggression toward a certain group of people versus others.”

She is also known for frequent temper tantrums and even throwing things in her D.C. office.  One report recounts an incident where Lee humiliated a staffer by forcing him/her to write a memo concerning the staffers own incompetence and it was written in front of the rest of Lee’s staff.

Then Lee has the gall to cite what happened to Karen Klein on the school bus as one of her reasons to sponsor the bill.  Lee stated:

“As we saw recently with the viral video of bus monitor Karen Klein being verbally assaulted, 21st century bullying has reached beyond its previous scope of only affecting young people.  Now, our seniors are getting bullied, there is bullying in the workplace and some would even suggest that there is bullying between the two parties on Capitol Hill. When will it all end?”

If you had to pick one politician in Washington with the worst anger problem, it would be Lee.  And if you had to pick one politician in Washington with the worst record of bullying their staff, it would be Lee.  Especially considering the fact that she describes herself as a founding member of the Congressional Anti-Bullying Caucus.

So it seems rather hypocritical for Lee to be pushing anti-bullying legislation on Capitol Hill, but it is exactly what she is doing.  Her bill, known as the Juvenile Accountability Block Grant Reauthorization and the Bullying Prevention and Intervention Act of 2012 is scheduled to be voted on as early as next Monday.

Even though I am against bullying, I would urge every member of Congress to vote NO on this bill and explain their reason for doing so as the hypocrisy of the bill’s sponsor.  If Lee really wants to stop bullying, it needs to start in her own office before she tries to stop others from following her example.
