There has been a lot of talk about ‘p’resident Obama’s swap of 5 Taliban leaders for Army deserter Bowe Bergdahl. Former prosecutor Andrew McCarthy included the illegal swap in his list of 7 article of impeachment against Obama. McCarthy described the swap as a dereliction of duty as Commander-in-Chief, saying:
“It seems to be quite beside the point when we have a commander in chief who is replenishing the enemy in wartime when the enemy is still on the battlefield conducting offensive, jihadist operations against our guys. That’s about as shocking a dereliction of duty as I can imagine.”
New evidence is emerging to help justify McCarthy’s accusation.
One of the five Taliban terrorists that Obama swapped is Mullah Mohammed Fazl. He was the Taliban’s former Deputy Defense Minister and Army Chief of Staff before he was imprisoned at Gitmo as an enemy combatant of the United States.
Prior to the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, Pentagon and Capitol Building, Fazl worked with Abdul Hadi al Iraqi, one of Osama bin Laden’s chief lieutenants, to plan and carry out a strategic military offensive against the Northern Alliance. The offensive took place on September 10, 2001.
According to Melanie Batley with Newsmax:
“A leaked Joint Task Force Guantanamo threat assessment of Fazl said that he met with Abdul Hadi al Iraqi to ‘immediately coordinate an attack with the Taliban against the Northern Alliance,’ according to the Standard. The attack was to be carried out the day after al-Qaida assassinated Northern Alliance commander Ahmed Shah Massoud in a suicide bombing so as to weaken the opposition’s morale.”
“The Standard highlighted that the 9/11 Commission said in its final report that the mastermind of the attacks, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, confirmed that the offensive Fazl assisted with was a key part of the strategy to execute the 9/11 attacks.”
“Despite Fazl’s involvement, the Obama administration has insisted that none of the five detainees that were freed pose any threat to the United States and were not directly involved in the terrorist attacks on the United States.”
“‘These five guys are not a threat to the United States,’ former secretary of state Hillary Clinton said during an interview on NBC News last week, the Standard noted.”
“‘They are a threat to the safety and security of Afghanistan and Pakistan. It’s up to those two countries to make the decision once and for all that these are threats to them. So I think we may be kind of missing the bigger picture here. We want to get an American home, whether they fell off the ship because they were drunk or they were pushed or they jumped, we try to rescue everybody.’”
“Marie Harf, a State Department spokeswoman, also insisted during a June 5 press conference that none of the former detainees posed any threat to the United States. The Daily Beast reported that John Brennan, director of the CIA and previously Obama’s chief counterterrorism adviser, has argued that the ‘Taliban Five’ were primarily focused on fighting against Afghans and did not have a record of attacking Americans, the Standard reported.”
How can Obama or anyone else say that Fazl is not a threat to the United States? His actions speak volumes as to his role in the deaths of over 3,000 people in the 9/11 attacks. Mullah Mohammed Fazl should be executed for his terrorist activities, but instead, our worthless Muslim loving illegal occupying the White House sets him free to rejoin the battlefield and continue on his sworn mission to destroy the United States and everything it stands for.
As for swapping a sworn enemy and 9/11 combatant for an Army deserter, Obama’s actions not only provide sufficient grounds for impeachment, but grounds for aiding and abetting the enemy of the United States. Article 3, Section 3 of the US Constitution defines that as treason. In the past, those guilty of treason against the United States have been shot by a firing squad, hung by the neck and imprisoned for life. In Obama’s case, any of the three punishments would be fitting. You choose which one you would prefer.
