Taxpayers to Pay Contracts for Doubtful Program

Have you heard of the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) program?  It was part of the massive ObamaCare measure that was forced down the throats of American taxpayers by the radical leftist Democrats currently trying to destroy our nation.

CLASS is a voluntary program designed to assist Americans who may need long term care.  If one chooses to pay into the program for a minimum of five years, they will be eligible to receive payments from the program to help pay for long term care costs.

At this very moment, the US Department of  Health and Human Services has opened the bidding process for the awarding of two contracts for the CLASS program.  One contract is to design a ‘strategic brand’ and the other to create an ‘awareness campaign’.

The Democratic lead Department of  Health and Human Services is already seeking contracts to be paid with taxpayer dollars for a program that has not yet officially created.  That’s right.  CLASS does not officially exist, but we are going to pay for it anyway, and in a time when our economy doesn’t have a spare nickel to buy a piece of gum.

Furthermore, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius even refers to the CLASS program as being ‘totally unsustainable’ because of numerous problems in the health care law.  Senate Budget Chairman Kent Conrad referred to CLASS as ‘a Ponzi scheme of the first order, the kind of thing that Bernie Madoff would have been proud of.’  The program has been placed on the economic chopping block by Obama’s own debt commission.

All this said, Secretary Sebelius is moving ahead with the contracts with the understanding that there is sufficient ‘administrative flexibility’ to revamp the program in order to close the legal holes in the law and keep the program intact

This is just another outrageous example of the liberal politicians refusing to be fiscally responsible in a time when most Americans are having to trim their budgets and do without because they don’t have the money to spend on such frivolous and wasteful things.
