When it comes to the Cruz family, it’s ‘like father, like son,’ and this is why we love the Cruz’s so much.
In a recent speech (or better, a sermon) to fellow evangelicals, the Reverend Rafael Cruz argued that conservatives and Christians must stop giving in to the liberal, politically correct culture of our day. He went further and said that we conservatives must stop prostituting our principles in deference to “tolerance” because there are absolutes and we must be Biblically correct, even if that is in opposition to being politically correct.
“We have to stop being politically correct. We have to stop acquiescing even to the wording that the liberals use. Just think about it, they talk about in the issue of life. They say ‘pro-life’ or ‘pro-choice.’ That’s not the right word! It is ‘pro-life’ or ‘pro-death.’ It is ‘pro-life’ or ‘pro-murder’!
And so, it’s just like calling homosexuals ‘gays’. Gay means happy. Then they try to delude it so it becomes socially acceptable, and if you say anything against homosexual marriage, then oh, you’re not tolerant. So we’re supposed to prostitute our principles on behalf of tolerance. Well, I’ll tell you what, there are absolutes. There are absolutes. Start being biblically correct instead of politically correct.”
Amen, Reverend Cruz. Amen.
Everything Reverend Cruz delivers in this sermonette is 100% absolutely accurate, and moreover, it all needs to be said and heard over and over again.
We conservatives, and we Christians, have allowed liberal culture to twist and change the language for their own benefit and our detriment. We were trying to be kind. We were trying to thoughtful. We were hoping to win the culture over with love. Sadly, the liberals didn’t care about the ground we gave up, they were focused on the end game. They were focused on defeating conservatism and killing Christian morality in America.
This is why we need more ideologues, like Ted Cruz, to stand up, to speak out, and to remind Americans of who we are. We can be tolerant, thoughtful, caring and accepting WITHOUT giving up who we really are and what we believe. Stand for truth, no matter the costs.
It’s a message that resonates because we know that it’s right.
