The Most Pro-Gun Low-Crime City in the United States

The anti-Second Amendment crowd is on the warpath again. PBS’ Bill Moyers, who served as White House Press Secretary in the Lyndon Johnson administration from 1965 to 1967, called the NRA “the enabler of death.” 65 million other gun owners in the United States didn’t kill anybody yesterday.

I live just a few miles from the most pro-gun city in the United States – Kennesaw Georgia – where gun ownership is mandatory. It’s not the “Wild West” like some people predicted when it passed a mandatory gun ownership law. “The city of Kennesaw was selected by Family Circle magazine as one of the nation’s ‘10 best towns for families.’ The award was aimed at identifying the best communities nationally that combine big-city opportunities with suburban charm, a blend of affordable housing, good jobs, top-rated public schools, wide-open spaces, and less stress.”1

In 1982 the city passed the following ordinance [Sec 34-21] which was in response to a handgun ban in Morton Grove, Ill.

(a) In order to provide for the emergency management of the city, and further in order to provide for and protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and its inhabitants, every head of household residing in the city limits is required to maintain a firearm, together with ammunition therefore.

(b) Exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who suffer a physical or mental disability which would prohibit them from using such a firearm. Further exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who are paupers or who conscientiously oppose maintaining firearms as a result of beliefs or religious doctrine, or persons convicted of a felony.

The city’s website states that Kennesaw “has the lowest crime rate in Cobb County,” one of the most populace counties in Georgia. In fact, from 1982 through 2009, Kennesaw had been nearly murder free with one murder occurring in 2007.

There were three murders in 2010 committed by the same man in what is described as a “school safety zone,” an area extending 1,000 feet from any school, including adult colleges and technical schools. This means that even though Kennesaw has the most liberal gun laws in the United States, employees at the facility where the murders were committed could not have a gun on the premises.

Of course, criminals don’t care about laws; that’s why they’re criminals. Ed Stone of Atlanta Gun Rights Examiner makes these important points:

“Unfortunately experience with actual ‘school safety zones’ in Georgia has proven that the ‘school safety zone’ law approach does not stop violent armed crime, as it disarms only the potential victims of an attack.  Criminals seeking to rob, rape, and murder ignore the ‘school safety zone’ as merely one more law they are breaking.”

I’m sure that those who voted for the new gun laws in New York went home after their vote and slept soundly believing they had solved America’s gun problem, if only every other state would follow its lead. Tens of millions more also went to sleep with their guns safely tucked away with no intention of killing anyone whether their magazine clips had a capacity of 7, 10, 12, or 20 bullets. No doubt criminals went to bed indifferent to the results of the debate. When it comes time for them to commit a crime, they won’t care anything about what the New York legislature passed into law.

    1. ‘An armed society is a polite society!’ is usually attributed to Heinlein, whose novels echo a deep current of history. In ‘Starship Troopers’ (novel, not movie), Earth is a fully armed wartime society where ex-military veterans have the vote and the society places its young graduates where they are most effective: women usually use their enhanced dexterity to fly the starships men ride into battle. In other novels, being responsibly armed is a mark of a mature adult. Real world proof is as close as the Japanese language, where various honourific terms evolved to prevent numerous heavily armed samurai from depleting each other or the peasants who fed them via unneeded battle. Or we can see examples in Switzerland or USA cities like Kennesaw GA.

    2. If you want to see polite people then go into a gun shop sometime. Never met more polite and courteous people before. Safest place in America – there has never been an armed robbery of a gun shop because all the employees are armed as are most of the customers.

    3. I have always said that. Even in the old west there were not anywhere as many gunfights, as Television and movies would have us think. If one went into a saloon to have a drink, before starting something, one had to remember everyone else in that saloon was also armed.

  1. Punish (severely) the people who use guns to commit crimes. Since it’s not arguable, perhaps a swift execution … then leave the rest of the people who own guns and do no harm alone. It may be worth trying to keep guns out of the hands of unstable people, but I think even that is going to be difficult. This may be called “doing the wrong deed for the right reason” which seems to justify it ….

    1. We ride a road between inability to defend and idiocy like Zimmerman. If I took his position, I’d carry two sets of weapons; one to deal with bratty local kids like Martin, loaded with riot rounds, and the other loaded with lead to take out outside armed invaders. Overall, we’re trying to promote depletion of real criminals while keeping confused or debilitated citizens from either causing trouble or suffering from crime.

      1. Why only “Outside armed invaders,” when the tyrannical, lawless arrogance of this administration, is pointing to itself as the enemy within?

        1. I was referring to ‘outside the neighbourhood’ as in invading drug pushers and racketeers and other real criminals (including libtards in DC), versus bratty little neighbourhood kids. Judicious use of riot rounds would have made Zimmerman’s life much easier, and reduced the hypocritical whining over that two-bit hooligan Martin.

  2. I wish Gwinnett County would do the same. Twice at the Mall of Georgia, while walking out to my car, I have had to pull my permitted weapon to stop being robbed. I didn’t bother to call the cops as the sight of my 9mm made them turn and run.

    1. This is bad news… I LEFT MIAMI TO GET AWAY FROM CRIME AND CRIMINALS… Thinking Georgia is the land of Southern Hospitality, I have found this to be the rule. I am a law abiding, Concealed carrying, resident… And more than RWA to uphold Georgia’s good reputation…

    2. Gather a lot of people,go to town hall meetings and demand it. Take all of the proof that it works with you to present as evidence that it does work .Print flyers and post them everywhere. Stay on them. One time will not work.

    3. The severe drop in violent crime here in VA as a result of fixing the concealed carry permit flap calls BHO and the anti-gun nuts the liars they are. Same for Kennesaw GA and other places like the non-citified non-LBJ areas of Texas. I still despise LBJ for his fraudulent 1968 gun laws…

      1. What exactly are the non citified non LBJ areas of Texas. I go to the country in Texas, I carry. I live in the City in Texas (The biggest one) And I carry. I was hit by another car and taken by ambulance to the Hospital. At the Hospital, they removed my gun of course. The Policeman investigating the accident later on said I saw where you have a CHL license, and it never even occurred to me to ask whether you were carrying. What I am saying is the Officer was not even concerned about it.

So, what the heck are you talking about?

        1. The lower crime rates in rural Texas due to prevalence of armed citizens, of course. A few big cities have made bad investments in gun control and are reaping the harvest in higher crimerates, but most have shown the common sense of investing in deputy-capable armed citizens. In your case, the cop considered your possession of an enhanced weapon user license as proof of your responsibility and the hospital should have returned your weapon to you, only charging you for the little lock box they put it in until you got discharged.

    4. Well the way liberals think if you had to use that gun to protect your life they would come to the aid of the robber. Guess you know it’s a disease these people have and it’s worst than cancer as in some case cancer has been cured, a liberal is almost certain death for America.

      1. its smoke an mirrows their not worryed about us or the crimal its their asses their worryed about they know if armed we are not sheep that will be lead

        1. Yup, this jerk punishes the law abiding citizens in place of the criminals. I wish our county would wake up and demand that there be a gun by every door in every home. Now dummicrats, don’t get your panties in an uproar, of course, everyone living there would also be required to take gun safety courses. Principals, teachers, janitors in schools, ushers in theaters and people in malls need to be armed, trained and ready for action.

        2. You’re right Malik, anywhere there are a lot of people, arenas, football, baseball stadiums, anywhere.

        3. I will agree to a point & that is that anyone drinking alcohol should not be driving or CCW, especially where emotions can be high – football, soccer, baseball stadiums & etc. If you are not drinking, I see no problem with it. Alcohol has a tendency to make some people aggressive that normally are not while sober. That said, a person under the influence of alcohol should not be operating a chainsaw. ATV or many other activities that would be perfectly fine at any other time. I don’t drink for many reasons, but that is my choice. I also don’t smoke, but if someone else chooses to do so, that is their choice & is fine with me. I even carry in Church – with our pastor’s knowledge & support. Other than the above instance I have no problem with CCW anywhere, by anyone (criminals excluded of course)

        4. Liberals/ Progressives will be outraged at your comment, but fail to realize you are right & they are wrong. They are very much like Obama, in that they think they can’t possibly be wrong, therefore it must be you that is wrong. They will never acknowledge facts that even the FBI has finally admitted & that is an armed citizen is the biggest deterrent to criminal activity than any law that has even been enacted. It probably will not deter Psychopaths with mental problems & that will require a confrontation, which always stops them by their suicide or just giving up, as happened in Colorado & Newtown.

        5. that Movie theater killer in Colorado is from CA–we can’t stand having Californians come to Colorado==they ruin everything and they still come–Californians are not welcome here

        6. that would make a big difference But these people anti gun people cant see that, they dont want to see it, If thats what it takes to save lives in this country today so be it, but they will not do it, They look at it like they lost the war on guns, So till than people will die for there cause even the kids may be in harms way. As long as they can fight the 2nd Amendment its going to happen people are going to die in these gun free zones, It sucks but thats the mentality of the Lib;s

        1. a few years ago roberys and murders was sobad for people working stores it was gruesome most robbers were black the plausky county sherrif in little rock ar.posted off duty police at ramdom at those hi crime places after several robbers were shot and some killed it stoped dramically then the preachers and religous folks said he was a cold blooded killer it had to stop they wanted for him fired and jailed it was ok for the crimnal to rob and kill the working person but to shoot the crimnal was violating his rights also they labled him as a racest. after he left office crimne draskly went up it is dangerous to be in little rock especially after dark its like chicago for i have worked in chicago

      2. I wish a few more professional liberals would be shot with crossbows or slings, or have their houses/businesses wrecked with Molotov Cocktails. Maybe that would get through to them.

        –Leslie < Fish

    5. That’s right let them go so they can do what they wanted to do to you to somebody else. Why should you care if somebody else gets robbed or raped it’s not you, huh? Or is that so-called permitted weapon not really permitted! Next time the guy you let go might just pull his gun! What will you do then?

        1. LEO’s may get away with that, we don’t get that option. If we over shoot, we will be held accountable for it even if there is no collateral damage. I like the statement an Arizona Sheriff made when asked by a reporter why they shot a thug 67 times. He said, we ran out of bullets! Citizens with a CCW can’t get away with a response like that. We need just enough to stop the thug. Over reaction will get us in a heap of trouble & hours of spalnin to do.

      1. If I have a legal permit and someone tries to rob me I pull my pistol. If he pulls a pistol I shoot the SOB. But if he’s running away you can’t pursue him or shoot him and with the response time of the police by the time they get to you the criminal is long gone. Giving a report to the police is just more paperwork for them and will never be followed up because they have many more serious crimes to deal with. You can’t pursue that’s the lesson you should get from the Zimmermann case in Florida. As far as whether the DEANS had a permit or not I believe that everyone that isn’t a felon or crazy has the right to carry. It’s the hoops you have to jump through so many places that I believe is wrong. Many places you can’t carry without a compelling reason. I don’t see anything in the 2nd Amendment that says you have to have a compelling reason to carry a fire arm so I feel these laws are wrong.

        1. Wonder what happens when those officers are being overwhelmed by large numbers of crooks and someone like you offers them a hand with his legal piece? Crooks cower when faced with a Well Regulated Militia, ie one or more legally armed citizens with a cop in charge…

        2. Cops are not in charge of me….they are a public servant to keep the law. I have every right to defend myself…that comes from my Creator. We have fallen into this false sense of security about letting cops “take charge”, now innocent people are in the courts for defending themselves! This is becoming a “police state” environment & I don’t like it when my liberties are taking over by a stranger! Just because they’re cops doesn’t make them right!

        3. All gun control is wrong. The 2nd Amendment is the compelling reason. Gun control should be banned as unAmerican treason, and its proponents exiled to Pyongyang for life…

      2. Goober, first, not only is is permitted, I have a federal permit that I have carried for many years and was trained by the FBI for a part of my job in the military. I learned in Nam that you shoot first when you are threatened. The sight of a gun most often is enough to discourage someone from drawing theirs because, in my case, the laser sight was on his chest at about 25 feet and the knives they were carrying were no match for a bullet. A scared perpertrater can run away quite fast. I was not going to chase them. It seems that the use of a large knife is getting to be the way they try to intimidate shoppers in these huge parking lots,

        1. I think your “FBI” training needs a LOT of refreshing since you are NOW a private citizen. There isn’t a single state that permits your to shoot a bad guy running away; You aint in ‘Nam anymore.

        2. Pamela Dunn, First you need to learn to read. I said nothing about shooting anybody running away. Had they, on seperate occasions, continued toward me with the knives, I would have warned them before firing. Under no circumstances would I have let them get within striking distance with a knife before dropping them. Second, I am at a private range at least every week where I associate with other people that, like me, are permitted and armed. Third, thank God I am not in ‘Nam anymore, or anywhere else around the world where I have been in the service of my Country. I can damn sure bet that you never served and,by my and every veterans doing so, defended the right for someone like you to act like you have constipation of the brain and diareaha of the mouth and use the 1st amendment to make stupid statements like you did!

        3. Red Dot Disease should serve as your warning. Approaching with drawn knife is your authorisation to use lethal force. End of conflict.

        4. It is called beginning reading comprehension. He said he would not shoot if they were running away. Technically police officers are not supposed to do that either.

        5. Haha! Red Dot Disease! If they removed their knives from their sheaths, you’re authorised to fire – unless they drop their knives and lay down to wait for the cops immediately!

      3. Goober,
Even with a permitted gun, you have to consider the consequence of actually firing. In The state of Texas, you are legally liable for every shot you fire. If you shoot at a bad guy, and your bullet hits an innocent, you will be charged, tried, and imprisoned.

Even if you are in a parking lot, and your bullet hits someone’s car, you will pay for the damage to that car, or cars.

From what you are saying, I think it is safe to say, either you do not carry, or you have never been in a bad situation where the need to fire might happen, or think you can fire indiscriminately every time you want to..

Also, if someone tries to rob me, if I can I will hold them for the Police, If I have to I will shoot to defend myself and my family, but if they choose to run I will also let them go. I would probably call the Police, report it, and give the police a description, but you cannot just start firing thinking you are Wild Bill Hickok.

At the back of each CHL holders mind, there must always be the thought that we are 100% responsible for each bullet we fire and for where or whom it hits

With a CHL, come a lot of responsibility. The license is not about just being able to shoot at will, but also requires a complete knowledge of your states gun laws.

        1. To settle these quandaries, select your ammo carefully. Riot rounds in a crowded mall sometimes make lots of sense, as might ‘birdshot rounds’ at short range outdoors or good lead or bismuth hollow points at medium to long range. If the scum just turn and run, a concealed camera might just give the cop the edge needed to identify the perp. It’s kind of like choosing the right ammo for a hunt, only the prey is criminal humans instead of edible animals… We also should prompt our idiot pols to fix the laws so any cash or stray round penalties end up being charged to the perpetrating criminal instead of the victim who defended himself.

        2. Malik should not be allowed to carry. He does not plan to shoot someone only to shoot at someone Conflict occures on average at 6 yards or less that is why it is called close quarters combat. One round from something as small as a .22 or a .25 cal pistol, is enough to drove off or drop 99 out of 100 perps. Punks are brave only when they have you at their mercy, and they show little of that

        3. That is not what I under stand from his post. A lot of what he said is standard procedure. I carry at times a Bond Arms Derringer (snake gun) 2 rounds of 410 gauge. A very good close quarters combat weapon & very concealable. I will not shoot someone unless they give me no other alternative. Center mass – leaving less room for collateral damage. Police in most cases are exempt from damages for collateral damage, we are not, so must be even more precise in our shooting skills. By the way, thanks for your service to us & our country. My grandson is headed back to Afghanistan & he is also part of a sniper team – shooter. We shoot together as often as we can & he is amazed at my shooting skills, especially for my age (almost 3/4 of a century), but at distance he has me cold turkey. You are right about thugs, they are for the most part cowards & will run rather than fight. That is why they pick Seniors or females as they think they will be an easy target. Not this senior, or my wife either.

        4. I agree with you. There are a bunch of states that charge a criminal with murder if their partner in crime (literally) dies at the hands of a victim while in the commission of a crime. Why not hold the criminal responsible for most other things that occur during an incident?

        5. A .308 cal or 50 cal BMG can bring down a Grizzly easily, so one shot for a thug is fatal even it it was not a fatal wound with a .223 or .38 cal. That saying, you can’t eat just one doesn’t count with the above weapons. One is all you need & it is fatal!

        6. The Wild West Theory is exactly what Liberals/Progressives think, mainly because they have no experience or knowledge about weapons, when they can or can not be used & believe the BS pushed by the Brady Campaign & other anti-gun groups. We know better, but non gun people don’t have a clue. It is up to us CCW people to educate them with verifiable facts they themselves can read from reputable websites like the FBI, CDC & others that they can believe. The anti-gun crowd have had the MSM on their side for at least thirty or more years & it will take time to prove their distortions of the truth. I, personally have changed the minds of dozens of people that didn’t have a clue & believed what the MSM & people like Bloomberg were portraying. They now understand & a few are now CCW people that I have personally trained in safe use & self-defense techniques. Some are taking professional training to enhance their capability & knowledge. We have to teach them or they will remain uneducated & anti-gun.

        7. I’m actually surprised that, if someone is committing a crime, they aren’t responsible for the damage you caused, as you wouldn’t be firing without them committing the crime. I guess it’d be much like when a state charges a criminal with murder if their crime partner dies at the hands of a potential victim.

    6. If what you say is true i’m glad you had your gun with you, 911 would not have got their in time. Robbers turn into killers.

      1. Some of them definitely do not like witnesses & will eliminate them for even a single $ bill. Since we have no way of determining what their intention actually is, if they are trying to rob you & have weapon, you have a legal right to protect yourself.

  3. Gov Cuomo could learn something from the good people of Kennesaw.
His “dog & pony show” legislation will NOT make New Yorkers safer. In fact, it will do the opposite. Any and all legislators in Albany who voted to dilute our Second Amendment and NY’s own Article 2, Section 4 of its Civil Rights Law, MUST be voted out of office.

    1. Well people if you plan to invade the U.S.A. plan on landing in Yew York
no one there to stop you.
Don’t try it in my hometown you wouldn’t have a chance.

    2. I am a short fat 54 year old. I have a bad back and a broken knee. If I am on the streets of N.Y. I can be robbed by any 20 year old with a stick. The only thing that keeps me alive is the fact that I can take a good beating. I’ve proven that, The problem is that with my bad back I cannot carry a police officer in my pocket. How will I stay safe? Well I could just stay home and never leave the house. That is because I do not live in N.Y. where guns will not be allowed in the home either.

        1. Right On. My wife called 9-11 about an intruder once in the middle of the night while I watched and talked to him with my.357 in my hand. He finally left before the law ever came.

        2. We didn’t have an alarm system at that time. We do now. Anything that comes within 60′ sets it off. Stray cat, dog or who whatever..

        3. All they will be doing is roping off the crime scene, gavering evidence, and filling our the bureaucratic paper work.

        4. The average response time for a 911 call is 23 minutes. The response time for my.45 Colt ACP is 960 Feet Per Second! Care to guess who is getting there first?

    3. The libtard idiots in Albany NY should be voted onto the next return cruise to Cuba for treason, exiled for life from the USA. Including Schumer, Cuomo, and Bloomberg!

      1. Congratulations on asking the most idiotic question I’ve ever seen on this website!
        Remember what Lincoln said –
“It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt”.

        1. .

That is NOT an idiotic question. Stop to think. Who determines who is able to purchase a gun. Some liberal/regressive psychobabbler can declare that you are incompetent or a menace to society because your exmate wanted to coerce a larger settlement from you and you said NO, So he/she went to the court and claimed you had threatened her/him as a result you have a criminal record and cannot purchase a firearm.
No the question is very pertinant. The only stupid question is the one not asked.

        2. If this present administration had it’s way only the military and the police and the criminal will own guns ..

        3. correction, ONLY the criminals would own guns…..this admin would want everyone in police & military disarmed as well

        4. I hear the criminals go out and party every time the libs pass another gun law restricting the law abiding citizens rights. The criminals will never abide by the same laws we are suppose to and they will never turn in their guns or clips.

        5. ‘SS’ is about right. Scrap the entire ‘Secret Service’ or at least curtail them to an anti-counterfeiting squad, and make all pols pay personally for their own security! It can be as complex as a score of pricey armed guards – or as simple as buying a piece and going to the range. We don’t need a government department named after a German terror troop (SS-Waffen) in WW2!

        6. Under this Administrations interpretations, only the military and the police could have guns…but only in the performance of their duties. When off duty…they can’t own them either.

        7. You’ve fogotten that Obama has his own personal army, the Homeland Security Army, thousands strong, armed with automatic weapons and one billion rounds of practice ammo and one half billion rounds of hollow points, and we all know what those are for. We that read and answer this site, are all considered TRATORS TO THE CROWN , by King Obama and we will be the first to fall. SO, load up my friends as, very soon they will be coming for US!

        8. I saw that in “Schlinder’s List.” Only the police & military had guns.

A side note: “It’s not my fault Obama” does not have an “administration.” He has an “infestation.”

        9. I agree. Considering how crooked our leaders are – and how the liberal media pounces on anyone they want to crucify – a truly innocent person using a weapon in self-defense could suddenly find himself charged with a federal offense, and the liberal media would convict and execute him before he even has his day in court. The gun laws being considered right now will put a lot of innocent, law-abiding citizens behind bars because they will rightfully refuse to dismiss the Second Amendment.

        10. I want to be on that jury.
I’ld never convict an otherwise law abiding citizen for having a gun or for using one in self defense.
          Absolutely never.

        11. Do you seriously think that’s not a pertinent question… considering the people in power and how they disregard their oath of office.

They decide what laws they’ll follow and you don’t think that’s a problem in metering out justice?

You might want to consider taking your own advice.

        12. If the question was better defined there would be no need for this discussion. Of course the government will decide who owns guns and they will make sure most people are disarmed who abide by the law but criminals and nut-bags will continue to maim, kill and rob and have their way.. The law abiding will be denied their rights with hundreds of B/S regulations and many are already in the Obama care socialist demand.

        13. Not really. Think about it. If Obama and his minions are deciding what the “crime” is, a perfectly decent and law abiding citizen could be hauled off to jail. Just a thought.

        14. No, the libs have contorted laws that even if you defend yourseld in your own home you can be sued or still convicted of manslaughter. FU.

      2. That’s why I like the idea of promoting the employment of judges by using riot rounds and good judgement among citizens! Besides, if you read the USA Constitution, you have a good idea what’s a real crime… hey wait aminute, this says gun control is a crime. Is libtard hunting season open yet?

      3. What? Gun crime know bang bang ….there are hundreds of gun laws on the books but when these thugs who commit the crimes are brought to court liberal lawyers look at race wealth etc. and because the criminal’s mama dropped him on his head when he was little it is OK to shoot the store owner because he is poor and it is the fault of anything or anyone …… but the criminal .

Then the bleeding heart liberal’s do not want mass murderers executed but they want law abiding citizens disarmed. The activist media then makes excuses for the criminal and paints him as a nice guy who feeds birds.

        1. She also may have when she was high on crack, bath salts or meth & his widdle bwain became damaged.

        2. Since a large majority of our Government Representatives are lawyers, you may have a valid point, especially seeing the pathetic condition this country is now in.

      4. You’re funny Mcdade, if someone comes up to you, pulls a knife and says “Give me your money” do you consider that a crime?

        1. I liked Willie Shatner’s solution. He starts handing the crook items fast enough to distract him, then pulls his CCW licensed piece and puts rounds in both the perp’s feet and a knee. It’s even on Youtube!

      1. Perhaps if we went back to public hangings where even the want to be hood can see exactly what happens might be a deterrent. Also getting away from private injections to end a violent criminals life so as not to offend the criminal might have some deterrent value.

      2. Capital Punishment, done in a fair and timely manner, prevent perpetrators from instructing lesser criminals in how to perpetrate capital crimes. It also solves the problem of escaping high-security capital convicts. So yes, it does ‘deter’ further capital crime, for want of repeat offenders!

    1. That is the case in Singapore. If you use a weapon when robbing someone the penalty is death. For native citizen it is very quick, just a short time after the Trial. If you are foreigner and are convicted the penalty will still be death, but you might survive for a year or year and half to pacify the world at large while the trial gets reviewed…The bottom line, if you used a weapon to commit the crime, kiss your ass goodbye. Malaysia is also very strict. If you get caught transiting drug the penalty is death. No exceptions. In spite of this strict enforcement and unyielding punishment, it seems like several people get caught every year.and pay ultimate price for their stupidity… Usually the person who get caught in Malaysia is nothing more than a “Transit Mule”, which doesn’t seem to make any difference. Swift justice does seem to be a deterrent. If this was the “Modus Operandi” in the United States it would probably be an equally deterrent for us too. Swift and public Justice in “Old West” also served as a deterrent.

    2. That is exactly what Lawful CCW does in many cases. Other times they get a reprieve & if they continue in their chosen lifestyle, it will eventually eliminate them from the gene pool. In most cases, CCW prevents the victim from becoming a statistic in the obituary column & sometimes puts the thug in there instead.

    3. WELL, THAT’S MORONIC… Considering how many people have been put in prison alone for crimes they didn’t commit, including gun crimes.

That would definitely violate a little thing called “The Eighth Amendment”.

  5. A polite society is an armed society. Zoning our schools to Gun-Free zones is damning our kids to cruel and unusual punishment. I disarm myself every time I go on school grounds as prescribed by law. Do you think criminals do that? No! Sandy Hook is one example.

    1. Which parent or teacher of the Sandy Hook school, would have not ended the killings by that outlaw. Would they have yelled at the killer. or shot him dead when he forced his way armed, into the school? What law would the outlaw have followed?

  6. Stop passing laws! Enforce the current ones! More laws just give the politicians something to do to justify themselves. Any law they pass doesn’t apply to them anyway. It’s like an oath.

    1. Repeal all gun control and most other legislation! Watch the cost of running the government drop and see the politicians fall away like fleas when a dog is washed with lindane shampoo! Good riddance, I have no sympathy for such useless scum as unemployed libtard pols!

    2. I agree to a point, there should be one more law passed. It should read, for each future law passed 3 current laws must be removed from the record.

  7. When champ, no one wanted to walk into a room hosted by Mike Tyson and boast, “I’ll take on all challengers” because they knew his capacity. Bullies don’t often pick on the strong, they seek out the weak. If every able bodied citizen owned, maintained, and knew how to shoot a firearm, most criminals would seek easier pickings.

    1. Sounds like some moron walking into the Cattleman’s Bar in Idaho Falls and yelling ‘I smell sheep dung!’ Or a fool walking into NYC who isn’t ready to accept the ‘advances’ of local thieves in an unarmed population…

    1. Oh, EXCELLENT, Marv!! It’s sort of like comparing car accidents to the number of cars on the road at any given time…Miniscule. Just like Obama’s brain.

  8. Of course the cities and area’s with the most gun laws have the biggest problems. The criminals know that you can not defend yourself and there fore you are open season targets. A old adage that is used here and many places still does not make it untrue. A armed society is a polite society and I would add a secure one.

  9. That fact that anti-gun liberals don’t get it is astounding. When is the superior liberal intelligence going to reveal itself?

    1. Never! Liberals are mentally unstable. They do not use reason in their rush to judgement. To them it is the gun’s fault, not the person using the gun. If only Adam Lanza’s mother had committed her son sooner, none of this would have happened. A mother loves her children, but sometimes her judgement is clouded by the love she feels for her children. I know this all too well. I have been hearing a lot of talk about how Sandy Hook was orchestrated by Obozo to push for gun control. I cannot make a judgement call about this as I was not there. But I have read quite a good article on the drugs they give youngsters for ADHD, Depression, etc. And it was quite informative. I do believe that the teacher’s union has had too much power seceeded to them by parents. A teacher cannot handle a child who is rambunctious and thus a decree is made that he is ADHD and needs to be on drugs. I’m relatively sure that in the future we will find out that this is something pushed by NEA and the dumb o crats and they are messing with our kids’ minds. I suggest the Congress get some gumption and file impeachment proceedings against the President, the Vice-President and his entire group of Presidential appointees, who were not vetted at all. I personally do not like Huma, Hillary’s girlfriend, nor do I care for Valerie Jarrett. And, as for the First Lady, she is no Lady and is not qualified to have 47 servants. She’s acting like Marie Antoinette. And we all know what happened to her.

    2. Looks like what you see is what you get evidently it ain’t gonna get any better.

They think they are demonstrating intelligence.

  10. You know the funny thing is the Laws given personally by the God of our fathers to Moses covers all of this! Here is something one might find interesting as well!

The reason all this turmoil is happening upon one is because
everyone has strayed from the very laws given from God to Moses. Yes one is reaping the curses because they
thought these laws were too harsh as one of their reasoning s for there are
many. If one considers one has actually broken
the original covenant by applying the new covenant. This also is really making the statement God
is imperfect because His original laws couldn’t be followed by mankind and even
He personally (God) created them. It
also insinuates God is imperfect in not knowing what he was doing in the first
place. Also by implying God needed any son this, in turn, implies God can’t
handle anything Himself? Need I go
on? Yes the punishments to come are
because these new laws lack wisdom behind them.
What wisdom? Well there is a
saying one bad apple will spoil the whole bunch and if one considers sparing
the lives of people who commit crimes of such a devious nature then this person
teaches others his counsel and his ways to now create not just one but a group
of formidable foes who will reach out and strike back in everything which God had
not wanted in the first place! Also
consider equal balances as nothing done today rings out of this true nature and
these are but a few of the many inherent flaws!

    I could go on
with much further explanation but brevity is required and I could enlighten one
to exactly how all this happened as well! The only way to straighten all this out is to
return to these laws and if one won’t do this God will force one to but not
    without a price!

May the blesssings of the LORD be upon you,

    Jan R. Hershberger

I will go on to say the only rights one has are the rights
under the God of our forefathers and until you realize this and return to these
given laws as was given to Moses one shall never have any lasting rest! Yes one has taken this right and converted it into
thinking they personally own the land to ones fatal error! And Yes it’s not for your righteousness one
has gotten the land they now possess it was because of the crooked perverseness
of these other peoples you were given this land!

    Here is wise counsel
that other nations look upon you and not as it is today!

Deutoronomy 4:4 4 But ye that did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive every one of you this day. 5 Behold , I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it. 6
Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in
the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say , Surely
this great nation is a wise and understanding people.

  11. An armed society is as polite society. Movies and TV programs are where the West got the title “Wild, Wild West.” Not in real life. Except for some unusual situations more murders were taking place in NYC everyday then in all the west combined. It is not advised to go around swearing and belittling or for that matter bulling or threatening an armed person. Usually that is not productive at least for the bullie. Sir and Mam, respective terms, are usually best right alone with please and thanks. Sounds good doesn’t it.

However, law enforcement and the courts in the west were also not passive then. Shoot someone for no reason and you would no doubt hang and not after twenty years of appeals. Perhaps the same day

    1. Well said Don we now have a large portion of people in America who are part of a hysterical drone like society a so called progressive society that must spread the latest propaganda. Gun (confiscation) is their goal and always has been.

    2. Ah, the reason the good guys in most Westerns used the wrong end of their pistols to knock the villains out instead of killing them, or would shoot the pistol from their hand or knock the villain into a horse trough by shooting off the man’s boot heel… That judge was often jury and executioner too. A live body would usually absolve you of serious crime, especially if it had been the wrong target to begin with; the judge would take the perpetrators of crime down fast and hard without the hero facing unnecessary threat of jail time.

  12. I don’t know how many people were killed with a gun yesterday, but the GOVERNMENT & TAX payers allowed 919 BABIES to be MURDERED NATIONWIDE

    1. Great post. The murder of the most innocent, pre born babies, falls into this Marxist’s agenda so it’s OK according to them. Why didn’t they put some controls on selling 1000’s of guns to Mexican drug dealers. Gee I thought that was the kind of person they didn’t want to have guns.

      1. Thats what I always thought it was closer to, too, sorry I must of did the math wrong, all I know is PLANNED PARENT HOOD was bragging the other day about doing an abortion every 94 seconds and then THANKING the tax payers for helping them brake an all-time record both in abortions per day and tax payers money

  13. This information is available to everyone, even the Marxist in the white house. I have said time after time that Obama could care less about protecting the people of the country. If he cared at all he would not be so adamant about gun control. Just as a side gun control only means that you can hit the target you aim at. Obama doesn’t care about the children who have been murdered in cold blood, it is just a tool to perpetuate his socialist agenda. If he cared then he wouldn’t push so hard against law abiding citizens to be able to have NO place off limits to carry a weapon. I have a carry/conceal license and most areas around where I live don’t stop us from entering, they know we are safe and in an emergency could save lives of patrons and employees. The left is strictly agenda driven and could absolutely care not about facts. I am quite sure that my state won’t obey Obama’s constitution violating mandates. If they do I will move to a state that takes the Constitution seriously.

  14. The New York State law immediately made tens of thousandds of law-abiding New Yorks with permits to carry, like retired police officers, etc., into criminals because they cannot have weapons with more than 7 round magazines.

  15. Sweeden requires EVERY home have a fully automatic machine gun and ironically they have almost no gun crime, yet Chicago has the most ridiculous gun laws so there are almost no legal guns and they have the highest gun crime rates in the country…as well as an outrageous murder rate daily…course libtards don’t care about actually protecting people, they know they can’t enslave the country if there are millions of gun owners in the US to oppose them when they try forcing their socialist utopia on us after they collapse the economy or the dollar.

  16. The leftist-socialist Obombnic backers and hand out takers don’t get it. Just give them a phone and a monthly check for doing nothing but vote for him and all the leftist people. Welcome to the United Socialist States of America:::: so far.

  17. Hey, They had better stop promoting the SAFEST CITY in the Country. Because you know who will send in all the CRIMINAL to change that.

  18. Obama has just come out with the biggest pro-criminal law changes in the history of our country allowing criminal the advantage in gun ownership.

  19. But with that being said the main effort will continue to follow the same failed firearms laws reviewed for preventing violence as their goal.Just another distraction from the real issues of the economy and Jobs while wasting funds on the gun issue as the

Evidence that was insufficient to determine the effectiveness of any of these laws for the following reasons.
Bans on specified firearms or ammunition.
Results of studies of firearms and ammunition bans were
inconsistent: certain studies indicated decreases in violence associated
with bans, and others indicated increases. Several studies found that
the number of banned guns retrieved after a crime declined when bans
were enacted, but these studies did not
assess violent consequences (16,17). Studies of the 1976 Washington, D.C. handgun ban yielded inconsistent results
(18–20). Bans often include “grandfather” provisions, allowing
ownership of an item if it is acquired before the ban, complicating an
assessment of causality. Finally, evidence indicated that sales of
    firearms to be
banned might increase in the period before implementation of the bans
(e.g., the Assault Weapons Ban of
    1994) (21).

    Restrictions on firearm
acquisition. The federal government and individual states restrict the acquisition and use
of firearms by individuals on the basis of their personal history. Reasons for restriction can include prior felony
conviction, conviction of misdemeanor intimate partner violence, drug abuse, adjudication as “mentally defective,”†† and other characteristics (e.g., specified young age). The Brady Law (22) established national restrictions on acquisition of
firearms and ammunition from federal firearms licensees. The interim
Brady Law (1994–1998) mandated a 5-day waiting period
to allow background checks. The permanent Brady Law, enacted in 1998,
eliminated the required waiting period. It
normally allows 3 days for a background check, after which, if no
evidence of a prohibited characteristic is found, the purchase may
proceed (23). Certain states have established additional restrictions,
and some require background checks of all firearms transactions, not only those conducted by federal firearms licensees.

The permanent Brady Law depends on the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).
However, NICS lacks much of the required background information, particularly on certain restriction categories
(23). Efforts to improve the availability of background
information have been supported by the National Criminal History
Improvement Program (24). Approximately 689,000 applications to
acquire a firearm (2.3% of 30 million applications) were denied under
the Brady Law from its first implementation in 1994 through 2000
(25); the majority of denials were based on
the applicant’s criminal history. However, denial of an application does not always stop applicants from acquiring
    firearms through other means.

Overall, evaluations of the effects of acquisition restrictions on
violent outcomes have produced inconsistent findings: some studies indicated decreases in violence associated with restrictions, and others indicated increases. One
study indicated a statistically significant reduction in the rate of
suicide by firearms among persons aged >55 years; however, the
reduction in suicide by all methods was not statistically significant.
Furthermore, this benefit appears to have been
a consequence of the waiting period imposed by the interim Brady Law
(which has since been dropped in the permanent law) rather than of the law’s restrictions on the basis of the purchaser’s characteristics

    Waiting periods for firearm
acquisition. Waiting periods for firearm acquisition require a
specified delay between application for and acquisition of a firearm. Waiting
periods have been established by the federal government
and by states to allow time to check the applicant’s background or to
provide a “cooling-off” period for persons at risk of committing suicide
or impulsive acts against others. Studies of the effects of waiting
periods on violent outcomes yielded inconsistent results: some indicated a decrease in violent outcome associated with the delay and others indicated an increase. As
noted previously, one study of the interim Brady Law indicated a
statistically significant reduction in firearms suicide among persons
aged >55 years associated with the waiting period requirement of the
    interim law. Several
studies suggested a partial “substitution effect” for suicide (i.e.,
decreases in firearms suicide are accompanied by smaller increases in
    suicide by other means) (26).

    Firearm registration and licensing of
owners. Registration requires that a record of the owner of specified firearms
be created and retained (27). At the national level, the Firearm
Ownership Protection Act of 1986 specifically precludes the federal
government from establishing and maintaining a registry of firearms and
their owners. Licensing requires an individual to obtain a license or other form of authorization or certification to purchase or possess a firearm
(27). Licensing and registration requirements are often combined
with other firearms regulations, such as safety training or safe storage
requirements. Only four studies examined the effects of registration
and licensing on violent outcomes; the findings were inconsistent.

    “Shall issue” concealed weapon carry
laws. Shall issue concealed weapon carry laws (shall issue laws)
require the issuing of a concealed weapon carry permit to all applicants not
disqualified by specified criteria. Shall issue laws are
usually implemented in place of “may issue” laws, in which the issuing
of a concealed weapon carry permit is discretionary (based on criteria
such as the perceived need or moral character of the applicant). A third
alternative, total prohibition of the carrying of concealed weapons, was in effect in six states in 2001. The substantial number of studies of shall issue laws largely derives from and responds to one landmark study (28).
Many of these studies were considered to be nonindependent because they
assessed the same intervention in the same population during similar
time periods. A review of the data revealed critical problems, including
misclassification of laws, unreliable county-level crime data, and
failure to use appropriate denominators for the available numerator
crime data (29). Methodological problems, such as failure to adjust for
autocorrelation in time series data, were also evident. Results across studies were
inconsistent or conceptually implausible. Therefore, evidence was
insufficient to determine the effect of shall issue laws on violent outcomes.

Child access prevention laws. Child access prevention
(CAP) laws are designed to limit children’s access to and use of
firearms in homes. The laws require firearms owners to store their
firearms locked, unloaded, or both, and make
the firearm owners liable when children use a household firearm to
threaten or harm themselves or others. In three states
with CAP laws (Florida, Connecticut, California), this crime is a
felony; in several others it is a misdemeanor.

Only three studies examined the effects of CAP laws on violent outcomes,
    and only one outcome, unintentional
firearms deaths, was assessed by all three. Of these, two studies
assessed the same states over the same time periods and were therefore
nonindependent. The most recent study, which included the most recent
states to pass CAP laws and had the longest follow-up time, indicated that the apparent reduction in unintentional firearm deaths associated with CAP laws that carry felony
sanctions was statistically significant only in Florida and not in
California or Connecticut (30). Overall, too few studies of CAP law effects have been done, and the findings of existing studies were inconsistent. In addition,
although CAP laws address juveniles as perpetrators of firearms
violence, available studies assessed only juvenile victims of firearms

Zero tolerance laws for firearms in
schools. The Gun-Free Schools Act (31) stipulates that each
state receiving federal funds must have a state law requiring local educational agencies
to expel a student from school for at least 1 year if a firearm is found in the student’s possession at school. Expulsion may lead to alternative school placement or to
“street” placement (full expulsion, with no linkage to formal
education). In contrast to the 3,523 firearms reported confiscated under
the Gun-Free Schools Act in the 1998–99 school year, school surveys
    (32) indicate that an estimated 3% of the 12th grade student population in 1996 (i.e., 85,350 students) reported carrying firearms on school property one or more
times in the previous 30 days. Thus, even if only 12th grade students carry firearms, fewer than 4.3% of firearms are being detected in association with the Gun-Free Schools Act.
No study reviewed attempted to evaluate the effects of zero tolerance laws on violence in schools, nor did any measure the effect of the Gun-Free Schools Act on carrying of firearms in schools. One cross-sectional study, however, assessed
the effectiveness of metal detector programs in reducing the carrying of firearms in schools (33). Although firearms detection is not explicitly required in
the Gun-Free Schools Act, the effectiveness of the law may depend on the
ability to detect firearms by various means. The study reported that
schools with and without metal detectors did not differ in rates
of threatening, fights, or carrying of firearms outside of school, but
the rate of carrying firearms to, from, or in schools with detection programs was half that of schools without such programs. The effectiveness of zero tolerance laws in
preventing violence cannot be assessed because appropriate evidence was
not available. A further concern is that “street” expulsion might result
in increased violence and other problems among expelled students.

Combinations of firearms laws. Governmental jurisdictions (e.g., states or nations) can be characterized by the degree to which they regulate firearm possession and use. Whether a greater degree of firearms regulation in a jurisdiction results in
a reduction of the amount of violence in that jurisdiction still needs
to be determined. Three kinds of evidence were
reviewed for this study: 1) studies of the effects of comprehensive
    national laws within nations;
    2) international comparisons of comprehensive laws; and 3) studies in
which law types within jurisdictions (i.e., regulation of specific,
defined aspects of firearm acquisition and use) were categorized and
counted, and counts compared with rates of specific forms of
violence within the same jurisdictions. The latter type are referred to
here as index studies because they developed indices of the
degree of regulation. In drawing conclusions about law combinations,
findings from the three approaches were considered.

On the basis of national law assessments (the Gun Control Act of 1968 in
the United States and the Criminal

Law Amendment Act of 1977 in Canada), international comparisons (between
the United States and Canada), and index studies (all conducted within the United States), available evidence was insufficient to determine whether the degree of firearms
regulation was associated with decreased (or increased) violence. The findings were inconsistent and most studies were methodologically inadequate to allow conclusions
about causal effects. Moreover, as conducted, index studies, even if
consistent, would not allow specification of which laws to implement.

  20. I live in Kennesaw…. We publish the names of gun owners here. The publisher calls it”the phone book” :) Gun violence here in any way, shape, or form is almost unheard of. Blaming the gun is not the answer. Prosecuting criminals and allowing the law abiding citizens the means to protect their person and property is proven to be effective.

  21. Kennesaw GA, must be the place where people are afraid to talk to each other because they don’t know when your going to set the other guy off who carries a gun in his pocket. Better not to talk to any body. That’t what is happening in my neighborhood now. Used to be friends with my neigbors on both sides of my house antil I told them that I was pro gun regulations and a liberal voter, now they wont even say hello to me when I see them. Talk to my neighbor across the street who also feels like I do, had the same experince with his neighbor. I have known these people for a long time, I think they are good people, we should not have this kind of devide in a democracy. I still would like to be friends with them, because this is the way America used to be, regardless of you politics.

    1. Sounds like YOU are the skunk at the picnic! All the others seem to talk among themselves quite nicely! It’s like, “EVERYBODY I encounter is completely insane!”, where, in actuality, it is YOU who is insane!

Here, EVERYBODY is shunning YOU, apparently because YOU are ENDANGERING the rest of them with your ‘pro gun regulations’ antics, and you are attempting to trample on the 2nd Amendment rights of others!

If I were your next door neighbor, I’d place a sign stating ‘I’ believe in home defense, but HE (YOU) (and an arrow pointing your way !) does NOT! I would also state that, “In deference to his (your) wishes to be DISARMED, I agree (again, as your neighbor) to NOT come to HIS (YOUR) defense should ANYONE decide to invade his (your) domicile!”

  22. If only the ignorant people in had the good sense to see that it is the breakdown of the American families, not guns, that have killed all these people, and families have broken down because so many have lost their way. When a nation turns from God this what happens. Take all our rights and give them to the gov and nothing will change except for the worse; put Christ into the lives of our families and the United States will become the most perfect place to live.

  23. But then again these are only facts verifying reality. Can someone tell me just what facts have to do with liberal agenda’s? Facts are little inconveniences that just get in the way of the fantasy world of progressives and other commies, but they will never impede the progress of stupidity.

  24. The beauty of a republic is that each state has individual laws that can circumvent
federal law. Wyoming has already passed and put into effect a new
law…..This is what most liberal states and their liberal constituents don’t
want you to know or are blind to the real workings of a republic. Remeber we
don’t live in a democracy but a CONSTITUTIONAL republic..

The term republic does not appear in the Declaration
of Independence, but does appear in Article IV of the Constitution
which “guarantee[s] to every State in this Union a Republican form of
Government.” What exactly the writers of the constitution felt this should
mean is uncertain. The Supreme Court, in Luther v. Borden (1849), declared that
the definition of republic was a “political question” in which
it would not intervene. In two later cases, it did establish a basic
    definition. In United States
    v. Cruikshank (1875), the court ruled that the “equal
rights of citizens” were inherent to the idea of a republic.

However, the term republic is not synonymous with the republican form. The
republican form is defined as one in which the powers of sovereignty are vested
in the people and are exercised by the people, either directly, or through
representatives chosen by the people, to whom those powers are specially
    delegated. In re Duncan, 139 U.S. 449, 11 S.Ct. 573, 35 L.Ed. 219; Minor v.
    Happersett, 88 U.S. (21 Wall.) 162, 22 L.Ed. 627. [52]

Wyoming passed a new gun law similar to Tennessee and Montana. The Firearms Freedom Act. This law states that any gun made, sold and kept within the State of
Wyoming is not subject to Federal Gun Control Laws. This means no registration.
Wyoming did however go further that the other states. They said that any State
or Federal Official who tries to enforce any federal firearm law regarding a
firearm made, sold and kept in Wyoming could face a $2000 fine and two years in
prison. See how the law reads:

“A personal firearm, a firearm action or receiver, a firearm accessory, or
ammunition that is manufactured commercially or privately in the state to be
used or sold within the state is not subject to federal law or federal
regulation, including registration, under the authority of congress to regulate
interstate commerce.” (Note the federal government was never given the right to
interfere with or regulate intrastate commerce (within a given state).

“Any official, agent or employee of the United States government who enforces or
attempts to enforce any act, order, law, statute, rule or regulation of the
United States government upon a personal firearm, a firearm accessory or
ammunition that is manufactured commercially or privately in Wyoming and that
remains exclusively within the borders of Wyoming shall be guilty of a felony
and, upon conviction, shall be subject to imprisonment for not more than two
    (2) years, a fine of not more than ten thousand dollars ($2,000.00), or both.”
(Please note if a federal agent was convicted of this law it would make him or
her a felon and thus they could not own firearms and would be ineligible to
hold a federal law enforcement position. And face firing and loss of pension.
Of course if they ignore Wyoming convictions under this law then Wyoming may
ignore all federal arrest warrants they felt to be inconsistent with the
    constitution like tax cases.)

  25. The article mentioned several murders but never said they were gun related. There are thousands of ways to kill without a gun!!!!

  26. Oboy is despicable to have brought kids and families into his grandstanding today. Those kids should be in school learning about the Constitution and not a lesson in Das Kapital by Karl Marx or Mein Kampf by Adolph Hitler that a disarmed society is a safer one. Oboy’s reference to freedom of religion for Sheiks was a slap in the face to a predominantly Christian nation. Time to impeach this scum. He’s running his own show on his own minus the congress and hasn’t even been sworn in as POTUS yet!

  27. Usin an often quoted saying; “Gun control is people control.”, that is the only reason I can see for the continuous attacks by politicians on the 2nd Amendment. I used to get laughed at and called a “conspericy nut”. Tell me people, are you laughing now???

  28. It’s time to start impeachment procedures against this communstic ,socialistic, PRICK and his administion and try them for treason

  29. I heard the prez. say that there have been 900 deaths since the Sandy Hook incident but he didn’t mention another number, how many of these were criminals commiting a crime.

  30. Gun free zones are killing people. If we do as the president asks and seek every option to prevent the killing of innocents, one must take an honest look at the unintended consequences of “gun free zones.”

  31. Watch NY City become even more dangerous. Chicago, home of Obama and the most crime ridden city on the planet (2 times more crime than Mexico City and 3 times more crime than Moscow according to our own government statistics) proves gun control doesn’t work. Some criminals were interviewed on tv (faces blurred) saying they don’t care one bit about gun control laws as they will still get them. I wish Bloomberg would go without his armed security detail into Harlem or other parts of his decrepit city and see how long he would last. We need to have signs printed for liberal idiots and place them on their laws saying “Against violence – gun free home” and see how they like it.

  32. Just think about how many goons Obama can send to your house on a bus (union thugs) and that’s how many bullets you need in your magazine!! Brown shirts will be given their marching orders soon!! F’n eh!

  33. I believe that we should have three levels of law pertaining to weapons:

    1) No permission is required for any sane person with no criminal record to carry loaded firearms in the open.

    2) A permit is required for law abiding persons to carry a loaded firearm concealed.

    3) If a person has no weapon they shall wear a sign stating “No means of defense”. The same sign shall be displayed on their homes and business places. Since many items, such as a hammer, can be weapons – those items would not be permitted to anyone opposed to weapons.

I was raised in a town where 1 and 2 were the law and it worked fine. My purpose for law 3 is for those who are anti-gun to show me they really understand their views about weapons.

    1. I might quibble with you about the word “sane” in your first point. Who gets to define/determine who is or is not adequately sane to carry a loaded firearm. I think as long as you have no criminal (felony level) record – you should be allowed to carry a firearm.

  34. I heard Hannity or Rush say (can’t remember which) that the NY lawmakers had not read the bill before passage. These lawmakers should be thrown out for malfeasance! How many have signed contracts without reading them?

    1. How many lawmakers have read the Constitution before taking an oath to uphold it?

Anyone who violates their oath to defend the Constitution should be considered a traitor and subject to being hanged. Hang just one and all others would study the Constitution to ensure that they upheld their oath.

      1. Don’t know if it is before or after the oath but US House members (starting in January 2011) read the Constitution out loud in the House Chamber as the first order of new Congressional business. They are/will be doing this again this year. Don’t know how much good it does, but can’t do any harm.

  35. Funny how the Nation’s safest city is located in Georgia. I recently (in the past week) read an article about BEAR (SWAT vehicles) being purchased by the Atlanta police department to be used to fight crime. Evidently Atlanta’s crime rate is (according to local law officials) so horrible that they feel justified to spent $200,000.00/ per vehicle of local taxpayer money to fight crime in their fair city, using equipment that is armored and can be armed with guns such as those used in the US military on foreign soil. Maybe the residents of Atlanta should move to Kennesaw.

While our Government tries to disarm America, they arm themselves with tanks and drones. I wonder what’s up with that?

  36. Now if Only Whole States would do this… And, ignore Unconstitution fed laws restricting guns, mags, etc. Instead of buying hand guns, I think we need cannons, grenade launchers, and tanks, to fight our govt.

    1. “I think we need cannons, grenade launchers, and tanks, to fight our govt.”

I don’t. All members of the military took an oath to defend the Constitution. While some are so stupid that they would use cannons on fellow citizens, the vast majority would follow their oath. Even if that meant disobeying the commander in chief and killing those who are using those cannons, grenade launchers, and tanks against civilians.

  37. Quoted on this forum: “When seconds count, police are just minutes away”

Beyond naive to think those 80-90 IQ moronic local cops prevents crime, they’re just vastly overpaid janitors who clean up AFTER the carnage.
UNLESS you are one of those who believe it’s better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6

  38. If you were a criminal and were looking for a store to rob, I doubt you would pick a store in Kennesaw, Georgia……..Chicago probably, but not Kennesaw.

  39. The government is trying to convince us that the Second Amendment is all about the rights of sportsmen. It isn’t. The Founders were afraid of a dictatorial central government and they gave us the Second Amendment so we could protect ourselves. That is what Obama is worried about. Little by little our gun rights will be removed as we are told it is for our own “good”. Soon, only the government and criminals will be armed. This country, as we know it, will be unrecognizable. Obama does not want you to be able to protect yourself from his minions who would seize your property and take your life. This is how he will complete his redistribution.

  40. This article was in our local newspaper. It says a lot. “THE OLD WOMAN”
She walked up and tied her old mule to the hitching rail. As she stood there, brushing some of the dust from her face and clothes, a visiting gunslinger stepped out of the saloon with a gun in one hand and and a bottle of whiskey in the other. The young gunslinger tooked at the old woman and laughed, saying, “Hey, old woman, have you ever danced?”
The old woman looked up at the gunslinger and said, “No, I never did dance…never really wanted to.”
A crowd had gathered as the gunslinger grinned and said, “Well, you old hag, you’re gonna dance now,” and started shooting at the old woman’s feet. The old woman prospector, not wanting to get her toes blown off, started hopping around. Everybody was laughing.
When his last bullet had been fired, the young gunslinger, still laughing, holstered his gun and turned around to go back into the saloon. The old woman turned to her pack mule, pulled out a double-barreled shotgun, and cocked both hammers. The sound of those hammers clicking carried clsarly through the desert air. Immediatly the crowd stopped laughing. The young gunslinger hears the sounds too, and he turns around very slowly. The silence was almost deafening. The crowd watched as the young gunman stared at the old woman and the large gaping holes of the twin shotgun barrels.
The barrels of the shotun never wavered in the old woman’s hands, as she quietly said, “Son, have you ever licked a mule’s – – -?”
The gunslinger swallowed hard and said, “No maam, but…I’ve always wanted to.”
There are a few lessons here for all of us.
    1. Don’t ever be arrogant.
    2. Don’t waste ammunition.
    3. Whiskey makes you think you’re smarter than you are.
    4. Always make sure you know who really has the power.
    5. Don’t mess with old people; they didn’t get old by being stupid.

  41. Several years ago in St. Louis, a couple were looking for a parking place at an upscale mall. Suddenly they were blocked in front by 4 Black women in a car. Then another car with 4 Black men blocked them from behind. They started hooting and harassing the couple and the woman (ex-military martial arts proficient) got out of the car over the protests of her husband. The man who had a CCW called 911 and told the police what aisle they were trapped in and if they didn’t get there quick, they would have a lot of blood to clean up. The police were close by and got there before anything happened.

  42. There is an add above here that wants you to sing a petition to get Congress to work five days a week. I did not sign that petition because we the people always get hurt when Congress is in session. I peosonally would like the Congress and this idiot President we currently have to take the rest fo this presidential term off and, for the most part, didappear. We would all be a lot better off. Then the states could function more as they were intended to in the beginning.

  43. “We must reject the idea that every time a law’s broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.” Ronald Reagan

“Man is not free unless government is limited.” Ronald Reagan

” To sit back hoping that someday, some way, someone will make things right is to go on feeding the crocodile, hoping he will eat you last—- but eat you he will.” Ronald Reagan

This last quote sort of says, all talk and no action is a death nell! “YOU,” meaning, we the people, have to make it happen!

  44. we need to get a hold on this right now and let him and his minions that taking guns away from us will not stop crime anywhere.we need to impeach him and get someone in there that will use their heads, not just want to be a dictator.

  45. I wish ALL counties in America would pass this law.I believe it would reduce all crimes drastically. I would give people with bad intentions the sense that retribution is at the hands of the victims instead of a judge slapping them lightly on the wrist

    1. Answer is simple. onumbnutz, like the entire of liberal morons, is dumb as a box of rocks.

What passes for intellect these days….

  46. Please check my petition that I left at the Whitehouse’s site “We the People” :
It addresses the real issue: It does NOT take a village to raise our kids, but responsible parents. Sign it or don’t. It needs 150 approved before it can be viewed publicly then 25000 before the Whitehouse is supposed to address it.

  48. Gun control laws only control law abiding citizens which results in criminals having free reign to commit what ever crimes they wish at their leisure without having to worry that their prey would be able to resist. Gun free zones are nothing more that free play zones for those intent on doing harm. So again, more wrong headed libtard legislation that makes a problem worse, good job Odumbo!

  49. That’s just too easy. Liberal’s “facts” always work against them….on every issue.

We have created another generation of complete and utter morons…..starting in the 60’s….but today’s are the absolute dumbest, by far. Look at the idiot in the white house and those voting for it…..evidence enough for anyone WITH a brain…

  50. Chicago has some of the roughest gun laws around…and its the murder capital of the nation. 500 last year. Close to 30 already this year. But overall ..murders have been halved in the last 20 years. Not a bad statistic. But it only takes one crisis…and the dems jump all over it. If, indeed, they didn’t …..never mind.

    1. Actually, it was 769 for all of 2012….only 5 committed with a rifle……

Stupid is, as stupid does……like they say….(talking about liberals to clarify, lest you think that was an attack on you…..)

  51. When it comes to interpreting The Second Amendment, interesting from several points
are these excerpts from the May 8, 1792 U.S. Militia Act signed by President George Washington:

“I.Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, That each and every free able-bodied white male citizen of the respective States, resident therein, who is or shall be of age of eighteen years, and under the age of forty-five years (except as is herein after excepted) shall severally and respectively be enrolled in the militia, by the Captain or Commanding Officer of the company, within whose bounds such citizen shall reside…”

“…That every citizen, so enrolled and notified, shall, within six months thereafter, provide himself with a good musket or firelock, a sufficient bayonet and belt, two spare flints, and a knapsack, a pouch, with a box therein, to contain not less than twenty four cartridges, suited to the bore of his musket or firelock, each cartridge to contain a proper quantity of powder and ball; or with a good rifle, knapsack, shot-pouch, and powder-horn, twenty balls suited to the bore of his rifle, and a quarter of a pound of powder…”

  52. You’ll never hear this on the LSM!!! Hell I think FOX has mentioned a couple of times, but they’ll be the only one to show it. This does’nt work for the toxic commies agenda.. Our nation is in a sad state of affairs. Its time to turn it around.

  53. Todays liberals are following the progressive movement of the 1920s-30s, with Margaret Sanger leading the abortion rally, the “Great Experiment” of Prohibition 1920-1933 banning booze and Hoover heading the Stock Market Crash of 1929 and the start of the Great Depression. I could also mention it was the heyday of Al Capone’s lawlessness and murder and the height of bank robberies and home/farm foreclosures. Progressives sell the theory that they’re “liberal” in their approach to freedom, but in reality their constrictions and prohibitions are designed only to control the populace Too bad no one teaches History anymore, then the high school and college kids that voted for the rat-eared wonder will see what they’re in for. It took a lot of pain to come out of the destruction the progressive years caused. It didn’t work then and it won’t work now.

  54. Every county I have ever lived in has a County Sheriff. The County Sheriff is The Ultimate Arbitrator of what laws that originate outside the county will or will not enforce.
Call, write, email or speak to him(her) immediately about ensuring the Constitution is enforced as written or amended and that Executive Orders have no authority to supersede the Constitution.
Actually go out and do something. Leave your computer or change to your email program now. Make certain you write strongly and well and give the Sheriff every due respect. You want him on our side, not Obama’s.

  55. There would be more respect for each other and property if people thought everyone was carrying. Let the idiots in the Liberal States disarm; the rest of the country does not want to be sitting ducks!

  56. Still left un-discussed is the influence drugs have had on the killing sprees. If we seriously look into this we may find that most, if not all of the killers were on some sort of anti-depressant or other mood altering drug. The pharmaceutical industry has apparently been able to kill stories or investigations into this, just like politicians have helped kill stories of prior confrontations or mental health actions planned but not acted upon. The issue was not guns, was never guns. Taking guns is an historical method of empowering power seeking government & the influental wealthy to control the masses. Conspiracy theory you say? How many years ago did you think none of this could happen & espeicllay outside Congressional actions?????

  57. “Gun Free” just means “Risk Free” for criminals and crazies. Take down the “Gun Free Zone” signs and exchange them for “Armed Security on premises, will not hesitate to Protect and Defend” and see where the Criminals and Crazies go to shoot people! Even THEY are smart enough not to want to be shot at (they’ll do the shooting and looting, but point a gun at them and they will cry like babies, like the man who was shot by the mother protecting her children).

The best defense against a Bad Man or Mad Man with a gun, is a Good Man or Woman with a gun! Did you happen to see that video of the “No Guns Here” signs that a group tried to put on the lawns of the staff of the Newspaper that printed the names of gunowners? The “Unarmed” editors and journalists for that paper absolutely refused to put up a sign saying they were gun free; furthermore, many of them had armed guards at their homes! Tell you something?

Don’t make US swallow a pill you don’t intend on swallowing yourself,Mr. Prezident! That goes for Obama’s armed guards at his children’s schools as well as his many armed staff and guards around him! Let HIM be the first to disarm and prove to us how safe it is to be “gun free”!!! Hmmmm, how would that work out for you, Mr. Prezident?

  58. Do you know how fast they can run when you show them a gun, just like a deer amazing. Only had to do it one time when I bought the farm. Ya we get them out here in the country too, thats way we all have guns.

  59. You know of course that mental problems are not the problem, at least to MSM. I was watching a trilogy series of movies on one of those channels where you get five minutes movie and five of commercials. they covered everything from meds to quit smoking to helping you sleep and predominate in almost all of them was the fact that “these may cause mood swings, irrational thought, thoughts of suicide, violent behavior”. NOW tell me that psychotropic drugs have nothing to do with shooting rampages. England has nearly 5 times the violent crime we have here, and there is nearly a total ban on guns there. How is that for gun control?

  60. [email protected] says:

The citizens of Kennesaw fight crime. THEY SHOOT BACK !

  61. All of our politicians and there family’s have armed guards protecting them. It’s just the ordinary people who have no armed protection.I didn’t mind the gun grab as much ; but they did not provide for armed security for our children in any of the Bill’s.It should have been included in the sweeping new gun law’s.What’s wrong with this picture.Politicians are not interested in our children, just there own agenda of banning guns.

    1. And you sound surprised by this! Children are being used as props in an sick attempt to disarm the general population. “The poor little children”, who could possibly say no to keeping children out of harms way?
The answer is no thinking person, but in order to accomplish that you need thinking people to make sound decisions. Our politicians (80+%) could give a tinkers dam* about the children, you or anyone but themselves. This nation would not be sitting on the crapper with the presidents hand on the flush handle if that we NOT TRUE!
Do yourself a really big favor and Wake Up!! This is no longer the United States you grew up in and it sure isn’t the United States of our fathers and grandfathers! We the People are guilty of complacency and apathy and are not getting our just deserts. We did this to ourselves over a period of 50 or 60 years. We now live in a country that is every bit as divided and this nation was in 1861. That correct, oh it’s not black and white this time, it’s left and right. This real question is, can we avoid repeating history? Can we find different solution this time around? The alternative solution…….. We need to rid ourselves of the trash and garbage that has accumulated in DC, ALL of it left and right!!
One more thing to keep in mind. The Poles, the Jews, the Armenians, and the Russians, and many others all surrendered their arms. History demands, never again!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  62. It is sad that we are forced to protect ourselves against those that do not intend to work, respect others life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but that is fact. The illegal president and his people think gangsters will live up to the insane laws they pass- that’s how far out in lala land they are. When they finally come down- they will not have a job.

  63. Obama failed to mention what really is at fault here, is all the violate movie’s, video, tv programs and cartoons affect the young minds. What they see, they act out, not realizing, what they see is not real, but rather what they do is.

  64. I am taking along with my wife a refresher course in hand gun safety and proficiency. The biggest problem for everday people who carry concealed weapons is that adrenalin kicks in a and they are not accurate if and when they do fire their weapon. I would recommend that all take a good firearms safety and proficiency course and keep your weapons cleaned and ready. We do live in dangerous times. Even Jesus, when sending for his disciples the second time, required them to carry swords. By that time, evil men knew who they were.
Be safe everyone! You are your and your family’s best line of defense, not a responding law enforcement officer coming 12 minutes to 35 minutes later.

  65. I think if we’re going to use our doctors to drop the dime on patients it should be about liberals that want us to surrender our rights as gun owners and click our heals to our current leader in the Whitehouse.

  66. Liberal do-gooders like Feinstein and Bloomberg consistently ignore the example of Kennesaw, because they don’t want people to know the truth about responsible gun use. If Obama’s gun grab does through, will the National Guard invade Kennesaw?

  67. I feel that Kennesaw, GA., knows something the Anti-Gun Crowd, doesn’t know…
Remember, there is always room to learn,. specially, when your life is on the line…

  68. Well, we all know that obama wants to make America a islamic nation, and they want our guns to control the people, the step after taking away our guns, come the FEMA camps, and many will be killed their. So no matter what we need is to stop this from happening. That is the full truth of obama. If he gets one constitution gone there goes everyone, please contact your people in your state, talk to your sheiff and mayor and send letters.

  69. [email protected] says:

Let all these liberal states be blinded by their phoney gun laws. that way the criminals can eliminate them; they believe there are too many people anyway affecting their “GREEN” agenda! Criminals can eat liberals for breakfast, dinner and supper! just saying,
one way to clean up these liberal states.

  70. Criminals assume their victims are unarmed or that they may outgun them. They count on it. This type of legislation is dangerous because it disarms law abiding citizens and makes criminals bolder, less discriminate as to whom they will victimize and if they will act at all.

Law abiding citizens are not committing crimes. Criminals are. If you disarm citizens, only criminals will have firearms and criminal opportunity rises when criminals have no fear of potential victims with weapons. They don’t need guns anymore, either and opportunity skyrockets. Criminals are opportunists and we’ll be giving them the keys to the cities where gun crime is most prevalent but it will creep into the suburbs and rural areas, as well.

If you want to boost violent crime statistics, take firearms away and limit ownership of weapons and types of weapons. Factually, violent crime is down by more than half since 1992 and guns are down as well, except in big cities, like Washington DC where they’re disarming the law abiding public.

Why aren’t they talking about that?

  71. What amazes me about our judicial system is that once the crime is over, the Victim is basically forgotten. All the attention is on the Criminal. Everything is about the a–hole who committed the crime. When in fact, it should be the opposite. Especially when there is no doubt. Punishment should be swift and lethal. Criminals don’t fear the punishment. Even if convicted of a death-penalty crime, it’s usually 20 yrs. on death-row.

  72. Obama should love this law for financial reasons. The crook kills the working taxpayer who pays the government large sums over time because he could not defend himself and spends millions defending the crook and supporting him for many years in prison yet he loves the crook and hates the poor working guy while lying about how he is the defender of the middle lass. HA Yes people are dumb and he is a good lair.

  73. actually thru study of the ideologies of our founding father., they demanded gunownership to the heads of household. After all, how much of a man is a man that cannot defend his family?

  74. You know those signs you see, saying “Welcome to the state of… (pick a state): Each state sign should indicate to drivers that it either is or isn’t gun-carry friendly! I like that idea!

  75. As the old saying goes, “The Proof is in the Pudding” and I think that Kennesaw, GA. has the right outlook on the problem. That and a nice Shooting Range manned by trained “Shooters” to adequately train the gun owners in how to ‘properly’ use and maintain their weapons. This is not only a good and safe sport, it is also one of the best “Home Insurance Policies” one can have. If they have even the least idea that you just might be able to hit your target “dead center”, they will turn tail and run, like a scared rabbit! Personally, I think that we need more officials in Washington with the mentality of those in Kennesaw!!

  76. Watching the trapped rat-like contortions of anti-gun advocates being offered “Gun-Free Zone” signs for their front doors on FOXNEWS, and remembering the surveys of incarcerated felons revealing their greatest fear when committing a crime (an armed victim or armed witness) makes me wonder if the law establishing “gun free zones” may NOT have been designd to provide any kind of safety, but as magnets to draw killers and give them time to complete their business before armed responders arrived – giving the anti-gunners brutal trageties to blame on our armed society. Check the political affiliations of the killers and their families and you’ll find strong Dimocrat Party ties. Perhaps today’s “liberalism IS a mental disorder.”

  77. Back in the nineties there was a little shop in Kennesaw, called Wild Man”s. He wore a 45 on each hip. We had stopped at a Walmart on the West side of I-75, to see if they had any Kennesaw stuff, they didn’t, but they told us how to get to Wild Man’s.

  78. We made a mistake in visiting the Atlanta aquarium and the Coke museum. We stayed at a hotel next to the site. First, the aquarium has signs prohibiting concealed weapons. So I couldn’t protect my family on the walk there and later after we had supper, I stopped in a little cigar store next to the hotel. While talking to the store manager, all of a sudden it seemed there was a riot, complete with a sea of black faces. The manager said the NBA game just let out and be prepared for bunches of adult blacks to flash mob the store. Sure enough, folks dressed in clothes that would pay my monthly mortagage payment for a few months walked in. I saw no less than 5 shoplifting expense cigars. The manager said just ignore it, if he protested the store would be demolished and we would be hurt. Yeah, Atlanta you can have it, I’ll stay safe in my little town.
