Thousands Of Connecticut Doctors Terminated By United Health Care

Just prior to the open enrollment of Obamacare, United Health Care informed thousands of doctors in Connecticut treating Medicare Advanced patients that they were terminated by the United Health Care system.  Primary and specialty care doctors received their pink slips telling them that they were no longer part of the Medicare Advanced system offered by United Health Care.

Ben Goldstein, a spokesman for United Health Care explained, saying:

“With the many changes happening in health care, we are building a network of health care providers that we can collaborate with more closely to have the most positive impact on the quality of care for our members. We are prepared to help our members transition to new providers. Members with questions are encouraged to call the customer service number on the back of their member ID card for more information.”

“We offer our members one of the most extensive networks of health care providers in Connecticut and remain committed to ensuring they have continued access to quality, affordable care.”

Dr. Michael Saffir, President of the Connecticut State Medical Society says that they are in contact with United Health Care and recommend that doctors call United Health Care to find out why they were suddenly terminated without cause of prior notice.  He also advises senior citizens that have been left high and dry to contact the office of the HealthCare Advocate of Connecticut.  Saffir then commented on the actions of United Health Care, saying:

“What the government is looking for is to manage better care by adding a patient centered medical home so that you have a doctor who is totally invested with taking care of every aspect of the patient and coordinating it. This is clearly not a patient centered decision.”

President Obama, Rep. Pelosi and HHS Secretary Sebelius have been telling the American people that they will be able to keep the same doctor as they have now.  However, thousands of Connecticut seniors are suddenly finding themselves in search of new doctors and clinics.  For many, this can be a very traumatic and frightening experience, especially in lieu of all of the changes involved with Obamacare.  Guess we can chalk this up to another Obamacare related lie.
