Tim Allen Still Disappointed About Show Cancellation

Although “Last Man Standing” was cancelled a while ago, Tim Allen is still not happy with the outcome. The star was seen on a popular talk show where he exposed ABC’s “poor handling” of the sitcom.

Allen appeared on Norm Macdonald Live where he was asked about the show’s surprise cancelation back in May. The cancelation was not only a surprise to fans but also to Allen himself because ratings were the second highest at the network.

Many suspect the show was cancelled due to Allen’s humor and rhetoric tended to lean more conservative but of course ABC denies these accusations.

Allen told the host the thinks he lost the sitcom was due to his conservative veiws. “I always wanted ‘Last Man Standing’ to be like Archie Bunker,” Allen told the host, referencing the “All in the Family” series.

He continued, “Archie Bunker pushed boundaries, but Carroll O’Connor was not that guy at all. I am a version of that guy. But there is nothing more dangerous, especially in this climate, than a funny, likable conservative character. He is mitigated on the show by a family of women who had a difference of opinions, but he was a likeable guy and a principled guy about work and ethics and all this stuff, I think.”

The Hollywood Reporter explained that the shows origin was from an outside studio, 20th Century Fox, and was more expensive to license. CMT visited reviving the show but those dreams quickly broke down after the realization of how much the show would cost came out on the table. Some fans still wonder if it will be revived though because of what a popular show it was.
