U.N. Could Target American Workers for International Rights Violations

American workers may find themselves subject to prosecution under international human rights law as a report being issued by the United Nations’  Human Rights Council calls for boycotting, divesting, sanctioning and suing U.S. companies that do business with Israel.

The companies being targeted by the HRC include big names like Hewlett-Packard and Motorola.

The Human Rights Council is packed with a rogues’ gallery of Muslim-ruled countries and human rights abusers, including Saudi Arabia, Libya, Qatar, Cuba and China.

The Bush Administration had refused to participate in the group, for good reason. Of course, it was one of the first international groups President Obama signed up for. When the U.S. signed on in 2009, U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice said, “Working from within, we can make the council a more effective forum to promote and protect human rights.”

The Israel-obsessed group includes a “special rapporteur” who supposedly monitors the human rights situation in the “Palestinian territories.”

The current special rapporteur is 9-11 “truther” and left-wing former Princeton professor Richard Falk, a real charmer who once got in trouble for posting an anti-Semitic cartoon online.

The HRC’s report also calls for economic attacks against some European businesses such as Volvo and Dexia.

Because Obama was stupid enough to join the HRC, employees of businesses targeted in the report are warned that they could face international sanctions: “Employees of companies can face investigation and prosecution for human rights violations committed irrespective of where the violation was committed.”

The report concludes that “all companies that operate in or otherwise have dealings with Israeli settlements should be boycotted.” It further calls on the international community “to vigorously pursue initiatives to boycott, divest and sanction the businesses highlighted in this report.”

So here, once again, we see an aspect of Obama’s foreign policy that is backfiring on the American public, tearing down national sovereignty and subjecting American citizens to intrusion in their privacy and possible financial ruin at the hands of hostile foreign powers and terrorists.

America is in serious need of reasserting its sovereignty and smacking down the bullies at the United Nations.
