What once was one of President Obama’s examples of success in signing up for the Obamacare exchange healthcare plans is turning more and more into a nightmare.
First we heard Obama share the experience of Jessica Sanford who was able to log in to the state’s website in Washington, find out that she qualified for a federal subsidy and then selected her plan and signed up. Only three days later, Sanford received notice that the website calculator made an error and that she didn’t qualify for a federal subsidy and the plan she signed up for would cost her far more than she could afford as a single mother.
Since that time, the Washington website has been down for two weeks. The results of being down are causing financial nightmares those who had managed to sign up for their healthcare policies. When Shannon Bruner logged into her checking account, she discovered that she had a minus balance of almost $800. When they signed up for their policy through the Washington Healthplanfinder website in October, they set their first billing date for December 24th, but Healthplanfinder already drafted her first payment of $835 at the beginning of the month.
Shannon Bruner told the local news:
“The first thing I thought was, ‘I got screwed.’”
“Big knot in my gut because we’re trying to keep it together. It’s important to me that this kind of stuff doesn’t happen.”
Josh Bruner said that he had recently started his own business so funds are very tight until his business takes off, saying:
“We’ve got to figure out how to get money to pay the bills for the next week or two until we have another check come through. It’s just crazy.”
When KING 5 news aired what happened to the Bruner family, they began receiving messages from viewers reporting similar incidents with Washington Healthplanfinder.
One lady emailed them to say that Healthplanfinder just drafted her account for the second time. Yet another viewer posted on Facebook that:
“We are all in the same boat.”
After their story went public, Washington Healthplanfinder emailed the Bruners and told them to log into the network to view their invoice. They tried, but with the system being consistently down, they were not able to log in. Try as they may, they could not reach Healthplanfinder, so they turned to Facebook which finally got the attention of Healthplanfinder officials. They say they are now looking into the matter.
After John Burner said that they had written a check to their nanny last week that they no longer had the funds to cover, Shannon Bruner told the news:
“We haven’t bought anyone’s Christmas gifts yet. We’re just kind of waiting.”
Obamacare nightmare stories are raining in from all corners of the nation. As long as the Obama administration had to get everything in order and working, there is no excuse for the plethora of problems that have plagued the Democrat’s socialist healthcare system. Congress owes it to the people to shut the whole thing down until it’s completely fixed before any more lives are ruined.
